  1. Counter only works on Player Phase, so just put xander in their range and have him murder everyone. They hit hard though, so I wouldnt put him too far in. Once you clear them out a bit, just rush them with javelins/hand axes/ninjas. They're not too tough statswise
  2. Honestly, nearly everyone is viable, and its hard to screw up in birthright. I played lunatic and still I leveled too many units and ended up benching some low level promoted units for deployment slots but my units were still strong enough to clear. For a vague guideline, kamui, ryoma, takumi, sakura, and your first servant are valuable in any run. I cant agree with your statement that some characters are worthless, at least not in birthright. There are units such as setsuna that are outclassed by a similar unit, but are still very capable on their own. I used Hana, who most consider trash in lunatic despite obviously not being as broken as ryoma or Swordmaster!Corrin. Was she outdone? Yes, but she certainly wasn't useless as some profess - this is without massive favoritism, grinding, or stat booster spam, by the way. Sure ryoma does her job better, but he can't be everywhere at once. While I sent off ryoma to solo the enemy's 1-2 ranges, Hana could do her own thing elsewhere, ripping apart berserkers when Ryoma's not nearby. I also used orochi, who is also considered pretty bad compared to some powerhouses, but she also put in work as a attack stance nuke and staff bot once she promoted.
  3. Aside from the ones that have been said, vanity judge. It's the map theme that plays in chapter 5. I love the ominous atmosphere it creates, and it meshes really well with the darker chapters. Others I really like are dark wastes, and glory or something, the one that plays in Nohr 27
  4. oh yeah good point. My hard mode Leo was blessed in speed and capped it fairly early on, but i guess i shouldnt expect that in an average run.
  5. Thanks for the feedback, I think i'll end up marrying Effie off to Arthur from your advise, and give Luna to Flannel, and Camilla to Zero. On the topic of Leo, I was also considering Felicia, since maid gives pretty good overall boosts, and with cafeteria bonuses and a speed tonic, Leo at capped speed can double enemies even up to the very last chapters(I would switch to FeMui and marry Joker in this case). I don't have much data on Lunatic available, but I heard the stats were the same as Hard, with different skills. Chapter 27 Holy Lancers have 29 speed, and Leo with a statue boost (bringing his speed cap to 26) can double those with a Maid!Felicia support, tonic, and cafeteria boost. However, he loses 3 magic compared to if he was paired with Nyx. Do you think the tradeoff is worth it? Edit: now that I think about it, a FeMui seems better for physical based MU's, since Joker gives better pairup boosts and can change to GK as a pairup bot
  6. How would Pieri work as Kaze's S-rank? she gives +2 STR at S-Rank and Great Knight gives him good boosts as well. She starts at level 10 so I could immediately promote her and relegate her to a pairup bot.
  7. Yeah I was leaning towards Camilla and Zero since that's what i used in Hard and it allowed Camilla to double consistently even up to endgame. Regarding children i was thinking of passing pass to eponine as well and pairing her with someone along with zero to act as taxis for a 2 turn endgame clear, but wasn't quite sure who else to use. What do you think of early promoting zero to get pass faster and start leveling up eponine earlier, leaving him as speed booster for camilla while investing in kaze as a primarily offensive unit?
  8. I was going to grab the skills off managarmr then reclass to berserker for pairup bonuses. However, now that I think about it, that 1 strength probably won't matter too much in the long run and i'll probably just keep him in managarmr for better weapon ranks + saving a parallel seal. Fixed OP updating it
  9. So I just cleared hard with random pairings that I went off aesthetics since I can't really read japanese that well. But now, i'm starting a lunatic file and would like some feedback on what pairings are optimal, or at least effective. My plans so far: trueblade MU(+str/-def or +spd/def, idk) and Felicia (class undecided) OR FeMui (same class/assets) and Joker if I decide to pair Felicia with Leo Paladin Xander and Berserker Charlotte Dark Knight Leo and either Felicia or Nyx Berserker Arthur and Berserker/General Effie (changed by recommendation) Hero Luna and Managarmr Flannel Berserker Belka and General Benoit Along with the pairings above, I would like to use Kaze or Zero, or even both, as mage killers, but have no idea who to pair them with or classes. I'll get all the children for experience, but i'm probably not going to invest in them because I'm focused more on clearing the game rather than pvp/postgame (nohr grinding sucks), so i'd like opinions on how to optimize the first generation. Any suggestions on how to improve my current pairs or finish up my remaining ones?
  10. Sorry, probably should have phrased that better. I meant that in context of the whole game, I believe Henry!Cynthia is a stronger option than Chrom!Cynthia because Chrom's man seed is highly contested by Olivia and Sumia, since the OP's using MaMU. Chrom!Inigo is much better than most, if not all the other Inigos, while the gap between Chrom!Cynthia and Henry!Cynthia is not nearly as big. I'll will, however, admit your point on Yarne, Swordbreaker and a bit extra skill would be very useful on an inaccurate class like berserker. I still believe that in an optimized setting, Henry!Cynthia is a better option than Chrom!Cynthia when taking other pairings into account.
  11. Keep in mind Sumia has a limited support pool, and can only marry Gaius, Fred, Henry, Gaius, and Chrom. Henry!Cynthia is without doubt the best Cynthia, but if you really insist on henry fathering brady, your next best bet would be chrom for aether access, but Inigo is also optimized by having Chrom as a father, so honestly, I would just keep Fred!Cynthia. Gregor!Cherche is also very good, and gives Gerome Axefaire, making him a very strong support unit. Frederick!Panne is not that great considering Yarne's capabilities as a strong berserker. None of Fred!Yarne's skills really stand out other than luna, which can be inherited by Stahl (who also gives better offensive mods).
  12. There's no need to optimize on your first playthrough, but whatever floats your boat. Everything seems pretty standard, though Kellam!Nah is better than Vaike!Nah. Vaike gives the mercenary tree, which isn't great on a tanky unit like Nah, and Kellam's mods complement her better, making her pretty much immortal combined with manakete's defence boost.
  13. oops, totally didn't see that since it wasn't in the op
  14. So volume 3 and 4 of the FE:A key chains are now available for preorder on amiami. http://i.imgur.com/kqudRDF.jpg http://i.imgur.com/iE2b4Wu.jpg I would totally buy the Severa one in a heartbeat, but don't want to buy the whole volume 4 e.e
  15. alright, mine's still not popping up. Can someone post mine? I married Vaike!severa.
  16. finished my run! Drgnquester, if mine doesn't show by the end of the weekend, could I ask you to post mine?
  17. generally, you want to pass down gender exclusive skills. For Male children, pass down Galeforce if you can (like Inigo, Owain, or Brady). For Gerome and Laurent who can't get it, Dual Support is recommended. For Females, pass down skills from the Warrior/Berserker treeline, like Axefaire. This is for the maximum skill coverage, and is certainly not necessary if you don't feel you will need the skill ever, as it may take time to reclass and level up every parent. Check out the FE13 inheritance page to see all the skills you can pass down.
  18. some, like inigo aren't worth using without grind because their paralogues are too hard to complete at a reasonable time. By the time your units are strong enough to tackle Paralogue 6, you probably aren't going to have much use for a level 10 mercenary anyways. Some children with strong parents and a easy paralogue (i.e morgan) can be worth using if you feed them a bit of exp early on.
  19. So I was reading on the wiki about Dread Fighters and noticed that in the concept arts and models, they have some weird mask thing on their shoulder. While the rest of DF looks really cool and badass, that little goofy mask kind of stuck out like a sore thumb. Does it have to do with one of its names being Demon Fighter or is it related to a previous FE? Keep in mind that I haven't played Gaiden so I wouldn't notice if it was a reference.
  20. oops I phrased that badly. I meant in pretty much every chapter, I turtle up hard even if there are no reinforcements since I don't remember which chapters have them (been a few months since I beat lunatic). Like I think I had my units on chapter 13 sit on the forts for a good 5 turns after the last enemies aggro'd to make sure no more risen would pop out of nowhere. I'm trying to avoid using Spotpass characters, but I guess if I'm considering using EXPonential growth, using Spotpass characters is pretty mild in comparison.
  21. Made tumblr just for this, I have a feeling I'm gonna be really confused when the time comes to submit my card. Just got to chapter 15 on L+. The time it takes to finish chapter is ridiculous since I'm always scared of random reinforcements popping up and killing my units. I'm thinking of just shelling out a couple bucks for DLC so I can grind up a bit e.e
