  1. oh definitely. BOTW has a lot of Elments from X that are also very similar inplemented in BOTW just more simplified so I think you'll definitely enjoy it.
  2. Eh I don't mind it considering I am getting Xenoblade 2. I just think X is way better than what people give the original xenoblade credit for.
  3. Well the performance difference is quite minimal compared to Switch and the Wii U version. The switch has slightly higher resolution and recent patches have made it much more stable but other than there isn't much difference gameplay wise. Heck the Wii U version doesn't really take advantage of the gamepad all too much. The only real disadvantage you're getting is the portability since the switch makes it more convenient. Also you're gonna have to download the voicepack DLC if you want to play the game with different voice languages on the Wii U Version (which is free). Other than that, there aren't much different you need to worry about gameplay wise or anything. So if you already have a wii u but you need the budget, Wii U version. If you're planning for long term Switch playing, get the Switch version.
  4. Xenoblade Chronicles X is my favourite Wii U game of all time for me. 100% highly recommended.
  5. Pokemon and Star Fox are my favourite for series. Individual I love Xenoblade X's ost:
  6. Akihabara is your number one destination if you're anime, video game, doujinshis and electronic junkie in Tokyo. Make sure to allocate an entire day or 2 in that district if you want to explore all of the shops and there are many of them. It's a must for any otakus. It's a central hub for any video game fan. There are tons of toys, cards, merchandise and even rare used video games there. I've seen hundreds of copies of old Japanese Fire Emblem cartridges and I even got to see some of the Fire Emblem Ciphers available, figures and toys (was able to spot Cordelia and Tharja figures, Nendoroids of Marth and Caeda and Lucina figma etc) and even Fire Emblem doujinshis made by variety of artists, SFW and NSFW. Not to mention Mandarake the most famous second-hand merchandise store is situated in there so there should be something there. Keep in mind that it can be a maze since the stores are in different building elevations and they don't encourage you to take pictures inside it.
  7. Sounds like Square Enix being Square Enix tbh. They always seem to be iffy with their licenses in general considering they allowed Secret of Mana but not Chrono Trigger. But one would argue, they're still selling Chrono Trigger DS but at the same time it's on the Wii VC so idk.
  8. It's basically the mindset of having higher expectations because previous games did it why not this one kind of mentality and if you can pull it off in this one, why can't you make it better in this game? A lot of gamers these days do have overblown expectations because many demand good story, good gameplay and at the same time good graphics and sound/music directions AND VOICE ACTING! All which require a significant amount of resources and time for the developers to make all for the same 40-60 dollar price tag like it was in 1980s. Thus forcing publishers and developers to have to require putting in a million dollar seller because if you don't meet any of the above requirements the perception is that it will be doomed to fail and people won't buy it just because it either doesn't have A, B or C. Thus forcing a lot of developers and publishers to have the mindset of if we don't jam enough content then it won't sell. It's why you have so many recent games being called, "open world" and overblown number of missions and sidequests in order to satisfy this market and player to believe there is a lot to do in the games environment. As someone who pretty much came from the 1980s, I loved games for the gameplay itself not because of character A's voice having the most amazing voice acting in the world but because of how fun the actual game itself is. Most of those things are icing and cosmetics in the end and there are times where I do feel people are being overcritical about the most smallest things even if the developers never intended for it to generate so much discussion. So yeah I agree a lot of people's expectations are more higher than it was in 1980 and people want more and more content for the same 40 to 60 price and it's why it's harder for developers to make games that will satisfy the market. As someone who programs for a living it's a daunting task for most of us and video games in general have one of the shortest software lifespan than almost any program tools out there. That's just my thought though.
  9. In the grand scheme of things with X's localization majority of the stuff that people were complaining about was so minor in the final build that it never affected the overall game at all. Most of it were cosmetics were things that majority of the players could not obtain and most people never bothered attempting to get because they were post game cosmetics and it required a significant amount of grinding from the player that it really demotivates most of them. They didn't affect much at all as very few people bother getting 100%. As someone who got a chance to experience X in the english and the japanese version, the english version stayed pretty much true to the original japanese voices and dialogue and writing. None of the party member's had any significant personality changes, their voice dialogues had relatively the same meanings and the so called "religious refences" they removed was only 1 tiny symbol in the game but the entire writing and dialogues in the sidequests all still talk about people worshipping and cults. Most of the voice direction for X was amazingly done really well for NoA's standards considering how much I usually loathe NoA's voice direction any almost majority of the game they localize. X manages to make it feel natural for the majority of the characters and I would applaud them for it so I'm in the boat of at least they're getting better at it. I'm personally aware of all the changes, things that were removed and a few minor so called "censorship" that people cry about but people made a really big deal out of it for nothing when the International version of Xenoblade X gave you ALL THE DLCS for free and fashion gear completely unlocked immediately which is a god send for cosmetic lovers. Literally you would have paid almost an additional 20 bucks if you wanted all the content. Personal opinion of Xenoblade 2 is still up in the air for me. Not a fan of the character designer they hired, I'm not a fan of the boy and girl setup cliche story they seem to be going for and it seems like they're trying to stay safe with this specific story of the game. Granted I wasn't a fan of Xenoblade 1's story either as I much prefer X's structure both gameplay wise and storywise. In the end, I still look forward to the game since I do like the combat in both games. Just not a good first impression for Xenoblade 2. Keep in mind, I had a good impression of Xenoblade and Xenoblade X when I first saw them.
  10. "Fire Emblem Tough Simulation" The original japanese lyrics of the main Fire Emblem commercial theme song literally call it a simulation.
  11. showing off some new mechanics in 6 mins if you don't want to go through the 30 min video.
  12. they did. It's basically Valkyria Chronices, Xcom and Codename Steam style of tactics which I am a fan of. https://youtu.be/JUCc4ynL9fU?t=476
  13. X is also on sale for about 20 bucks right now. This price is a steal considering I paid almost 90 CDN for it. http://www.gamestop.com/wii-u/games/xenoblade-chronicles-x/122854?utm_source=linkshare&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=deeplink&cid=afl_10000087&affID=77777&sourceID=HiuZOO_9InU-GImBBxNtBO2QI2sLvugbUg
  14. X's narrative, story and lore are mostly in the sidequests of the game. Not from the main story. The main story of Xenoblade X is literally only 20% of the game. 80% of X story is all about the sidequests and I personally feel too many people skipped out on these missions and don't realize just how much lore and story that is explained in these sidequests. They go into a lot of depths of certain explanations that aren't shown in the main story like the origins of some of the characters, the personality depth of each party members, the struggle each side character is going through, the rocky relationships between the ma-non and the humans and the Orphean race and other Xenos. There is a lot that happens in X that unfortunately many people only watched cutscenes and story and call it a day when in fact all the best stuff in X are in the sidequests because that's where majority of the narrative is. The premise of the idea behind Xenoblade X is that they want you to work for these rewards by encouraging for you to explore and figure out things on your own and they encourage you to do these sidequests in order to offer you more of the world, the planet itself and each character's personality through these and I personally think this is the better way because I don't have to sit on my couch watching 20 mins of cutscenes explaining it and not have to do anything about it. For example, one of the party members that you recruit if you build enough affinity with them you learn about their species origins and how they also have similiar cultures that humans have. It's a small reward but those small details offer a lot of expositions. There is a lot small details in it that helps build the world of Mira and it's why I personally prefer this method of gameplay and story telling over watching mins and mins and mins of cutscene and then stopped by another cutscene while walking 5 mins later. Here's how X works, you do one sidequest, your reward is recruiting Nopons into the city, when you recruit Nopons to the city, you open up new sidequests, as you do more sidequests, one of the city governments will tell you that they want to recruit more xenos and then you recruit the orpheans, the prones and the wrothians and they all open up more sidequests and they all have some pretty hilarious, serious and downright disturbing narrative stories that are contained within each of their sidequest stories. It's a chain of events structure and in my opinion it works out for the better because I got learn about each of the Xeno's stories and their reasoning for being in Mira and that adds a lot of immersion to the world of that you are in. I am always in the mentality of never judge a game by someone's playthrough or watching cutscenes. The best part of Xenoblade X is the sidequests.
  15. One thing I will say is that, ARMS has the best online fighting game netcode. I have not encountered a single lag, input delay, graphical stops or a single off sync issue. This is amazing netcode optimization coming from Nintendo and it's on a fighting game no less. Not even Blazblue or Street fighter or even Mortal Kombat gets online netcoding working at all and those games are 2D fighters. This is a 3D movement game with motion controls which is an amazing achievement. Here's my first testpunch playthrough. Keep in mind I was using Joycon motion controls. And honestly I'm loving the game already. 4 Player free for all is great reminds me a lot of the 4 player Naruto GCN fighting game and it's a lot of fun. Even 4 player online free for all runs flawlessly.
  16. Yeah I am aware of the artificial level scaling system which imo is something that should not be hidden to you. X fixed that issue for me that levels are no longer a factor but your current setup, stats and your build matters the most now. Don't get me wrong though, I still enjoyed the game but I definitely do not hold it up to the pedestal.
  17. My relationship with Xenoblade Chronicles was a strange one. I knew about Xenoblade Chronicles way before smash bros. I got the game quite a number of years back and have played it for about 30 hours and while I enjoyed it....I just...stopped...I don't know. Something about it felt off for me. But I will give it that the atmosphere, the adventure and the game is a lot of fun and I did enjoy the game once I did get into the momentum and it took me about 4 years to finally beat the game. The areas are pretty unique to look at the dialogues are great and there are lots of things that I love about the game. However I still have a lot of problems with the original. Part of the problem I have with the original game was the game was level dependant. It's not stat dependant as the stats in your screen was kind of a lie. For example, if you're 5 levels under you can't hit anything at all but once you're 4 levels under the setup and strategies you can apply into combat becomes really easy. Which personally I find it one of the biggest design flaws of the game. Yes there are 30 under level runthroughs but they aren't something that I have the time to research or invest. The sidequests majority of them were either boring, not worth the investment or was just there. There are a few that give some nice little rewards and hints but overall, the structure was kind of placed there. The beginning of the game's map design was great but as time went on, the map really started feeling really half assed and just plain linear boring. It definitely felt like the developer ran out of the time and just made everything a hallway at about the 50% mark of the game. something I didn't like all too well The characters, I know I'm getting a flak for this but I really did not care for any of the main casts. Dunban was the only one of the group that I really liked and loved for the majority of the game. However Shulk while I thought was great in the beginning as the story progressed, I started not liking him more and more. I really don't know why....I really wanted to love these characters but the majority of them did not do anything for me. It's also the reason why I probably didn't enjoy the story as much as everyone says they did. I actually legitimately tried my best to keep awake but majority of the time I was half asleep. I'm not saying the story is bad but it was definitely not to my personal taste. DIdn't help the fact I was constantly looking at the time and noticing it's been past 20 mins in some cases when a cutscene ran. I do like the game but it wasn't something I would consider the greatest JRPG to ever grasp that I always hear everyone talked about. Xenoblade Chronicles X though was a completely different beast for me and I've became a crazed fanboy of the game it was kind of insane. I don't know why but I really really really loved this game over XC. I loved the sidequest, I loved the story, I loved the lore, I loved the characters and I especially loved the world of Mira. Every moment I wanted to explore one specific area to another and I continously wanted to keep going that I played the game almost every single day. Open world design has always been my favourite part of games and XCX honestly surpassed my expectations way more than the original game. The big thing that I loved was the sidequests in the game. The sidequests are the main attraction of the game. There are so many nice events, lots of lore explained and the amount of characters you interact with each Xenos are just wonderful. I loved the game so much I actually 100% the dang thing. The gameplay is just so much fun from explorations, to combat, the amount of options and the amount of things to were great that I never gotten bored throughout my 200 hour adventure. The characters are the most relateable to me because they deal with a lot of their inner demons and special party members get their own sidequests when you use them enough and that's something I really appreciate. For example if you build affinity with Hope you learn that she has a certain demon inside her that she's only doing the nice things because she wants attention and she feels that people will judge her for doing all this. There are a lot of nice themes that each character deals with and the choices you make in the sidequests and some cutscenes affect a lot of the outcomes. One example, is that you'll see Elma is your usual calm, collective and laidback colonel but when Irina gets into a fist fight and you chose not intervene, the Elma you thought where she would try and stop a fight is willing to get into a street fight for her friends. It's those small details that I really love and enjoy. Are there flaws? Yeah..most of them are stuff like fetch quests and the grind can be a bit of a nuisance. Skell combat could use a bit of tweaks and the online system was kind of half assed. But overall, I loved Xenoblade Chronicles X and I look forward to a sequel of it.
  18. Nintendo of America did majority of the localization of Xenoblade X. 8-4 only did tiny little dialogues here and there but majority of the works or 95% of the script was NoA.
  19. The antenna is basically baby mode driving. It helps prevent players from driving off the cliff and auto drive. The downside is you don't get triple mini turbo and shortcuts are a big nono in this setting. There are 8 battle arenas but there are now 5 different modes with a completely new mode Renegade Roundup which is basically cops and robbers. Personally this has been the best battle mode since N64 imo. Shine Thief which used to be meh in Double Dash is now fantastic with 12 players.
  20. Oh don't get me wrong I don't like RNG drops in any RPGs but if you can actually manipulate the drop rates then I don't have as much problems with it since you still can control the rate increase and decrease. Unlike say something like in Earthbound where if you want to get Poo's best weapon you need 1 in 128 chances which took me hours to get.
  21. In the original there are probably stuff like find the keys and stuff very minor but even then in X for story required progression there are probably like maybe 3 or 4 quests that have required gathering just to beat the story and they don't take very long either. I've replayed the game 9 times and beaten the story that many times already and it's not as big of a problem as most people make it out.
  22. targetting appendages is where you lock target a certain body parts onto an enemy instead of just hitting the enemy. In X, you can target legs and arms and other body parts of a monster and destroying them gives you a higher rate of getting a specific item when you beat a monster. So really you can already influence the drop rate of items a lot more. I don't think it's a perfect system either but at least you can influence the RNG rate then the original game where you just hope you get it which was 5 times worse imo.
  23. X is is way less offender of RNG item drops compared to other RPGs I've played considering you can manipulate item drops very easily by targeting appendages, getting treasure sensors which you can double the rate of item drops and white cometites pretty much become a fixed item drop once you setup your probes easily. So I don't think X is as bad as everyone makes it out to be.
  24. Forced level scalings. In Xenoblade Chronicles, if you're 5 levels under, you will never hit because they punish you by making your dodge rate and your hit rate really bad on purpose. This was an intentional design despite your current stats are similar to most enemies. Then 1 level up later you're completely demolishing the entire enemy foe. I was much more happier with it in X where this wasn't an issue at all.
  25. they're probably discontinuing it to give focus on the switch and would rather people buy VC games in the long term rather than focus on the NES classic. They did say it will be a limited time offer thing.
