All the hate comes from the fact that it's such a casual game, people are probably worried about the fact that there will be more FE games in this mold since it's so popular (I mean, the next game is a crossover?! Really??) It doesn't measure up to earlier titles in the series, and if there are more games like this then FE is headed in the wrong direction. And then, there's all this emphasis on "fun"...whatever happened to challenge being an important part of the game? (edit) Oops, just realized the conversation has gone in another direction. Still keeping the post tho, adding my two cents.

Sort of on topic (I guess) - why haven't these games been localized yet? Assuming since it hasn't happened yet, it probably never will. Next question: will these games work imported on a N. American PSX/PS2 (like how FE5 could work on an NA console)?

No idea why people like 9 so much and hate 10. I do seem to read a lot more disappointment in 10 than 9 (which is crazy to me) - lots of complaining about the support coversations (give it a rest already) and how the DB are such useless units. I thought 10 was a pretty solid game (great music, new characters, big quest, etc) and never really understood why people seem to be so meh about it. Fire Emblem always seemed to be a niche title more or less since its release in North America; I think that a lot of the sales figures reflected that but then again that doesn't really explain why the latest game did so well. Also I remember a lot of reviews at the time being pretty mixed, with places like Gamespot bashing FE10 for its difficulty (which isn't really even true - it's not that hard), and a few other places giving it lower reviews as well. My theory for the high prices is that it's a collector's item at this point...I figure most of the players who wanted to buy a copy could have long before the $60 price tag. Wasn't too hard to come by a reasonably priced copy on Amazon or something during the Wii's lifecycle. I can't believe a hardcore fan would've waited so long to pick one up.

I never really liked the laguz, so that's out. You don't think anything interesting happened between the end of 9 & start of 10?

It would pretty much have to be "a new villain emerges and causes trouble for Tellius" But they exhausted, well, pretty much everything. So it would probably have to take place in the same timeframe as the two games, or maybe in between the three year interval btwn 9 & 10?

How's Thracia not canon?

I think that would be great. Tellius is a big place, there's plenty of room for a sidestory game a la FE5.

Have the SoM remake, it's pretty fantastic. Sure beats dragging out the ol' SNES for the millionth time. Those FF remakes, though, look absolutely awful. I'd say your better off with the original games. Or just get the virtual console ones.

Radiant dawn! Went back and played PoR after. Just found it really boring, wasn't that interested in the support convos (who cares - seriously), thought a few of the chapters were pretty good (like Chapter 8)...but a lot more were not so great, esp the first few trainer chapters and the multi-part chapter in the forest (17?) was a total drag...as well as some others I can't think of right now...oh yeah Ch 21 where you had to run around a moat basically..that sucked, and then it only used, like, one map theme for the whole game which wasn't even that good. Final boss was a total letdown, maybe it's different on hard but on normal Ashnard didn't even fight back. And then you have to clear the game 20 times for all the easter eggs...no thanks But as someone else said a lot of the world-building happens here, it was interesting to see Ike starting out as a rookie. I think I liked a lot of the character designs better here too. RD...unlimited supports, forging, new skills, bigger quest, better music, storyline started out great (love the Begnion occupation theme) and ended well (Ashera). Then of course you get new characters (plus all the old ones)... ya it's definitely better

Tons. Was also my first FE game, and I died a lot on the early chapters. A LOT. I think in Laura's first chapter I probably lost, like, a dozen times. Also I didn't really understand BEXP, I think I just gave it out equally to everybody. DB was badly undertrained as a group, I think Nolan and Edward turned out decent but everyone else sucked, which meant I had to hang on for dear life in 3-13, and had to lean heavily on the BK in 3-7 (I was SO relieved when he showed up). Didn't mess Greil's Team up too badly, you can pretty much run that group on autopilot. I think some key characters died, Haar might've been one of them (or maybe he died in 4E, can't remember). I also had to have the royals solo endgame because most of my endgame team was just that weak. Then there were all the goodies I missed out on: character recruitments and secret items...

Bump. My current endgame team is all forced characters, plus Dawn Brigade (Edward, Nolan, Leonardo, Laura) Greil's Team (Shinon, Heather, Haar, Titania, Mia, Calill) Rafiel Last time I didn't have a staff user, so I ran into problems in 4E1, with the Sleep/Silence guys...Laura does that job nicely but her Res is lower than I would've liked. Also she's only an A in Light and I didn't bring along a Shine tome so she'll just be stuck using Ellight, which sucks. Leonardo is doing ok, but this is where his bad speed growth comes into play...he had the Lughnasadh (or whatever) to cover up his speed deficiency before, but now he's just getting doubled by everything if he's in 1-2 range. But I just brought him along to have a Dawn Brigade endgame, so I guess it doesn't matter. I prolonged the fight with BK to gain some more exp...now all my units are about 20/20/10 (or higher - Haar and Titania are at max level) heading into the final 3 chapters. Woo
