Okay so I'll probably finish Birthright, get Conquest for the gameplay and then I'll wait to see if there is an Apotheosis to make the call on Revelation. Maybe a couple of paychecks down the line. Thanks lads/ladies.

Simple title really. Basically I bought Birthright (that's all GAME had in stock) and I've enjoyed what I've seen so far (on Mission 7). Story is meh not I adore the gameplay so far. However is there any real point in me playing the two side paths? Or should I just get Revelation and go through that. It sounds like Revelation is the 'true' story and if that's the case then I'm not fucked with the other two, I just want a full story with a proper ending. Basically, am I missing anything if I skip Birthright and Conquest?

So I've mixed things around a little and this is what I've ended up with; Chrom x Sumia Maribelle x Lon'qu Lissa x Libra Cordelia x Gregor Sully x Donnel Gaius x Tharja Henry x Cherche Meaning I'm thinking my last pairings will be; Stahl x Panne Vaike x Nowi Ricken x Miriel FeMu (+Def/-Lck) x ??? So...... with those pairings in mind, can someone advise what final classes should be and what skills to pass down? I'm looking to complete a secret Apo run. The only non negotiable elements are that I want to run a Great Lord Lucina and Bride Noire. Thanks guys!

Hi, back again for one more run before I get Fates. Now I'm flexible here because I've done the game on Lunatic several times but now I want to maximise kids to tackle the secret Apotheosis path. Happy to chop and change, only two prerequisite is no Stahl x Cordelia. Would also appreciate suggestions on classes and skills. I'm thinking; Cynthia - Physical Pegasus Knight Severa - Swordmaster Brady - Dark Knight Gerome - Beserker Kjelle - Hero Noire - Bride (love Noire in a dress :) ) Yarne - Dinner Owain - Mire Sorcerer Nah - Manakete of Death Laurent - Sage Inigo - No clue. Well Donnel makes sense for Kjelle and Noire, as he gives classes they can't get normally (and access to Galeforce) but yeah, I'm of the understanding that if it's not one of those two, Donnel should be dying alone.

Right, so decided to tweak it a little. Now thinking; Chrom x Sumia Gregory x Cordelia Gaius x Tharja Lon'qu x Maribelle What do we think? Happy to take advice on the others but again the 5 kids are a priority. I want them to be taking lead roles as well so would appreciate who to support them. Guess this leaves FeMu spare as well. Thinking..........FeMu x Brady? Never had my avatar marry a 2nd gen to be fair.

Thanks Alastor. I could take suggestions regarding Lucina if she doesn't get too much from a FeMu mother. I'm just looking to optimize her as much as I can.

Following on though, I'm in for another crack at the game and wanted some advice in putting together a team that can blow through Apo and all the DLC missions. I've played the game to death on all difficulties, so story isn't really an issue, this is a team for post-game. Also, while in the past I wanted to make a balanced team this time I wanted to prioritise my favourite kids, being (in order of preference); Lucina Severa Noire Cynthia Brady Generally, I'd want ideal parents for all 5, but the top 3 are the main priority as I'm aware that it's hard to screw up Cynthia and Brady. With that in mind I was thinking; Chrom x FeMu: I always play FeMu, that's pretty non-negotiable, plus this would in my mind, give a pretty boss Lucina and Morgan. Lucina would be looking to take a lead role. Lon'qu x Cordelia: Severa is going to go physical, so without knowing specifics, I'm thinking this would give good Spd and Str and she can pick up Astra and Swordfaire to use with Armsthrift and Sol Gaius x Tharja: actually not sure here, I usually use a GF father but am open to a non-GF Noire with suggestions, as I usually shift her to Bride class early on, given she can use bow and lance. Fred x Sumia: I'm thinking this is the best of a bad situation, as I'm tempted to give Henry to Cherche so I get Berseker Gerome support. Cynthia would still have everything she needs to be awesome, I';m just worried about the - to Spd. Virion x Maribelle: Again, not sure what Brady definitely needs or not, but seeing as Mari appears to give him everything anyway, Virion just helps add some polish to him. Admittedly, I'm pretty flexible. Stahl x Cordelia is an absolute no-no, that's pretty much the only pairing I won't accept, as the hair is that bad. I also like FeMu x Chrom because it adds something story wise with certain chapters and just feels right. I'd guess the other pairings would kind of look like Henry x Cherche Vaike x Nowi Ricken x Miriel Stahl x Panne Donnel x Sully Libra x Lissa I'm aware that smaller numbers can be more effective than taking a full team on every map, so I'm not sure if I'd use many outside of the 5 kids (with partners), Chrom x FeMu and Olivia (with partner) as she's a personal favourite of mine (waifu? I'm not a fan of that word but I guess, yeah Olivia is my waifu) so that would be 14 total. Thanks in advance for the help. I've not started the save yet, so I'm incredibly flexible notwithstanding the aforementioned red-lines.

As far as my limited understanding goes, Sumia is better for Chrom for three reasons; 1.) They are both limited in who they can marry, so the fact that they work for each other means you aren't boxing either of them into pairings that aren't quite as optimal, or taking away parents with more flexibility. 2.) To expand further, Cynthia is decent enough out of the box but if you marry Chrom with Olivia (which gives you a good, but not worldy Inigo) then you are effectively stuck with marrying Henry to Sumia, which takes Henry away from other children that need him more, like Gerome. Basically, Chrom x Olivia effectively sets out how the rest of your party will marry, assuming you'll save Male Avatar, Donnel and Gaius for Nah, Sully, and Tharja (as so often happens). It won't be a bad team by any stretch of the imagination, but it doesn't leave a lot of wriggle room to try something different. 3.) On top of that, Inigo can work with some different fathers, as I've had successful Inigo's before having Lon'qu, Libra and Frederick as fathers, whereas Cynthia can suffer if it's not Chrom or Henry. However with Chrom as a dad, she can have absolutely every single ability she needs to be a human wrecking ball.

So pairings are all now set (as in most are now married, with the exception of a couple) and I'm looking at how I want these characters to develop. I am thinking Apo/Future Past completion, as they are the only DLC missions I've not completed. So..... Lucina: Sumia seems to give her big Skl/Spd mods, so that would learn her towards a class with ranged abilities. She does seem to boss any class she's in, but currently I got her through Great Lord, then Paladin and now she's on Bow Knight. I'm thinking Bride for her final class after that. Cynthia/Morgan: They've always gone Falcon Knight/Grandmaster. I'm happy to take suggestions, but am under the impression that these two kids are basically broken no matter what they have. Noire: Noire is one of my favourite kids, and I'm not sure where to go with her. On previous playthroughs she's always ended up as a Bride, but now she has Donnel as a dad (Gaius was always her father previously) I'm wondering if that's still right. Previously she was set up as a Bride with Vengeance and Lethality. Kjelle: She usually got benched fairly early on, but I'm thinking cookie cutter Hero, once she's got Lethality, Swordfaire, Astra and the like. Brady: No clue here. Previously Mari was always married to a magic user, so being able to go physical Brady is strange. I am thinking a Nosfertank for him though, with Lifetaker, Vengeance, Tomefaire and possibly a physical breaker? Severa: The only kid other than Luci that I've recruited. She's already bossing through the Hero class but being Virion's daughter she doesn't seem to have many other options. Wyvern Lord maybe? Nah: No clue here, this pairing is completely new, so welcome to suggestions. Thinking Manatank though. Yarne: He seems to need Berseker, so providing that line is available, that's where I'll be going. Inigo/Owain: No clue. He's always gone Dread Fighter in the past. They are grouped as I've always taken them down the same or similar lines. Gerome: Berserker right? Seems like there's no other real option for him. Laurent: Likewise, seems like he should go through Dark Knight/Sorc and then finish up as a Sage. None of these are set in stone and can be changed (I've got the patience for it) so all and any suggestions welcome, especially on Skills. Also as a random question, I've noticed it said that Virion is now one of the best fathers in the game? Any idea why? I get that for Severa, he's freeing up a father who can be much better served elsewhere (like Lon'qu). I guess I'm just confused as to how the meta has evolved, as my last playthrough was all about Chrolivia and Virion being consigned to the dustbin at the first possible opportunity.
