  1. Hello, It's been a while. Long story short, technology hates me, and so does the internet haha. Anyway, I wanted to know if there is any consensus on what the ultimate survival tanking unit would be. Something ridiculously impossible to kill. Ground rules: - They must be a custom (My Unit) avatar - There are no other rules! Things you might want to consider could be class, asset/flaw, and skills. GO! Here's my two cents: General +Str -Mag Limit Breaker, Aegis, Pavise, Counter, Renewal Think you can beat it?
  2. Well if Smash Bros. is anything to go by... you're in luck!
  3. 1 vote for Kellam. 6 votes for Henry. ship that
  4. In that case, here's one more... Class: Sleuth promotes from Thief Description: A fiendish ally with the ability to evade enemies. Uses bows. Weapons: Bows Skill 1: Ambush Activation rate = skill*2% Strength, Skill, and Speed +5 during current turn if Evade was used during previous turn. Skill 2: Distraction Hit rate -10 to all adjacent enemies. Stats: Similar to Assassin but with greater resistance and defence, with less luck and speed. Gender Exclusive: No The Sleuth class adds an addition command "Evade" which allows the unit to hide from the map for one turn, preventing the unit from being attacked. Once activated, the command will only appear again during alternating turns.
  5. Armsthrift might be useful in tandem with Astra if you're building the character for campaign. It's probably not worth having for StreetPass though.
  6. I really like Messenger! Here goes my attempt: Special Class: Unholy Dragon Description: A possessed soul with devastating power while in dragon form. Weapons: Dragonstone Skill 1: Burn Activation rate = (skill/2)% If the opponent is successfully hit, they will receive additional damage for the next three consecutive turns. Damage from hit/8 on first turn of the burn. Damage/6 on second turn. Damage/4 on third turn. Additional damage can be prevented sooner by healing after the initial attack. Skill 2: Dragonskin As per in-game skill. Halves damage, negates Counter and Lethality. Stats: Similar to Manakete but with greater strength and skill, at the cost of speed and defence. Gender Exclusive: No Required Item: Corrupted Tome The idea of the class is that anyone can become a Manakete unit. Inspiration comes from characters being corrupted and possessed by tomes pertaining to dark dragons in previous Fire Emblem games.
  7. I give up with this discussion. Because it's become clear to me now that no-one here is ready for it, or simply plainly doesn't understand the object of the exercise. Or just has too much personal bias. :\ Unfortunately, it would seem that most users here can't maintain the obvious truth that nothing is canon, while simultaneously still allowing themselves to discuss the pairings which we could collectively debate are the most likely to occur. It's as if that truth that nothing is canon is a virtual mental block, preventing any theorising and creative discussion because of it. Our discussion here would by no means be a conclusive debate, but rather one that's merely for fun. A forum lacking in profanity filters had suggested greater mental maturity to me. But I'm quickly discovering this to be the opposite. Such a shame.
  8. That must be a joke, because that's not what canon means. :P
  9. I knew this would get brought up, but that's okay. This kind of discussion requires you to look past the surface. There is no truth from the developer. But what we can do is analyse everything we know and discuss it, rank it, and evaluate what would be most likely to be canon. :) So come on! :D Let's have at it. A rose by any other name...
  10. Please re-read my posts and you can see that I'm merely reacting to your comments. And I think I've been very reasonable. Why does canon matter? Well as with any video game, there are purists who seek the truth. I may never even play a game with what we could ultimately conclude would be the most canon pairings within a discussion on this forum, however I would certainly like to think about it. To know about it. So again, I have provided invalidation to your theory about ulterior motives to justify personal headcanon. That's just not my angle. For the last time, I am in this thread with a neutral perspective. I'm being very transparent with my agenda here. As for maintaining civility, well, I'm going to be frank, so I'm sorry in advance, but... - you enter this thread to basically denounce it... - then post a comment saying that I shouldn't post in a "fucking public forum" - then explain that your reasoning behind your hardly civil approach was actually to avoid the thread becoming uncivil in the first place...? And/or to avoid uncivil debates on the forums...? It doesn't quite add up. And this is getting tiresome to discuss. If you have nothing to actually contribute to this discussion, I'm going to ignore your posts hence forth. Sorry.
  11. Clearly I've ruffled your feathers. But please, allow me to explain how truly mistaken you are. I very much welcome diversity of opinion. I welcome disagreement. For example, my personal favourite pairing for Sully would be with Kellam. This is because I think Kellam and Kjelle make an awesome walking tank duo. I also like their similarity in name. And their unison in class, using them as Knights and then Generals. Despite this, I've set aside my personal preferences in this thread and sought to think about what would be the most canonical pairing for Sully. In this instance, I'm inclined to believe it is SullyxStahl, the panther and the bull. That is not my favourite ship. In fact it is a ship I don't like very much at all to be honest. Because my preference would be to marry Stahl with Cordelia. So by that point alone, let me avail your fears that I am trying to prove my pairings right or seek justification of my own ships. That's not my interest here at all. I'm in pursuit of what would be the most canon match-ups from a neutral perspective. Moving on, let me absolutely dispel your claims that I cannot handle disagreement, with the example of Sully to continue. If someone were to disagree with me, they would present a counter argument as to why SullyxStahl cannot/should not be considered be canon. Or outright offer a justification for another pairing between Sully and a 1st gen male unit, and explain why it should be considered more canon than SullyxStahl. The person in disagreement may even argue that Kellam could in fact be more canonical for whatever reasons (clashing with my established opinion that it is less canon than SullyxStahl), and I would be inclined to listen. That would be a disagreement with my case of SullyxStahl. Instead, what you did, was join this thread and basically denounce the value of it. Essentially putting forward the notion that this thread is pointless and useless. Ask yourself, how does this contribute to the discussion here? It doesn't. As I explained before, the purpose of this thread is to consider which of those cases could be considered more canon than others. Not to conclude that there is only one case and that all others don't exist. You claim that I cannot handle disagreement, a statement that I've proved is untrue. And yet it would seem the contrary, that in fact you are the one who cannot handle disagreement, via your dismissal of this thread. Ultimately the only flaring tempers being contributed are your own. As you can see, I'm very happy to calmly discuss the topic at hand and encounter disagreement, but if you're going to start throwing accusations and swear words affray, perhaps you should heed my recommendation by not visiting this particular thread. You've already clearly expressed your disinterest with it anyway. Please understand. I'm not here to justify my pairings, I just want a public discussion about what other fans think are the canon pairings in my favourite game Fire Emblem Awakening. Thanks.
  12. Interesting... we're also judging the skills by how available they are and how soon you can get them?
  13. That whole series of text speaks leagues of truth. Wow, what a fitting pair! Severa also complains how perfect her parents were. Can you think of anyone more perfect than Frederick? :P We're just having fun discussing which cases are the strongest. My interest is certainly not biased. My favourite pairing for Lissa is with Henry, but I hardly think it's canon. I'm not out to disprove anyone's pairings. While my headcanon pairings will definitely change if I hear a better debate for a new pairing. I see some folks suggesting alternate realities, which is cool, but at the same time seems merely a blanket to protect their pairings, which is unecessary, rather than addressing the topic at hand. If you don't like it, I guess... don't partake in the thread? No-one said the discussion of this thread would conclude that any single pairing is 100% canon. That's only a conclusion the developer can make. Therefore the point of the discussion, at least in my opinion, is not to say you can't have your favourite pairings anymore. The discussion is for canon-loving fans like myself to discuss and decide which pairings we think would be most likely to actually happen. That's all. Speaking of which, after catching up with this thread, it seems we have fallen quite off-topic! I have to admit, I had quite a preference for SullyxKellam because of the name blend for Kjelle. Not to mention Kjelle would be following in her father's footsteps. But SullyxStahl does seem rather convincing. I'd say it's quite a high candidate for being canon.
  14. I like Owain. I think he's really funny hehe. I intend for his father to be Henry on my next playthrough, probably my most favourite character in the game. But I also intend to marry Chrom and Sumia, which makes me a sad-face, because the awesome duo of Cynthia/Owain will become forbidden. :P I dislike Sully the most. She's just really crass and it disgusts me. She tries way too hard to beat the male knights in combat, and that just comes across as negatively feminist. It's the bench for her. I must say, I did really enjoy one support of Sully's though. It spoke about war and ideology, which felt like a really accurate social commentary about religion. I'll have to find it again.
  15. I've taken quite a shining to Cynthia lately. There's a real charm to her carefree character, and I love it every time she wins a battle and makes the "eh-eh-ehhhhhhhh" hooray sound haha. I was put off from her initially because of the moronic introduction though. It would have been excusable if the enemy somewhat resembled Chrom or used some magic to transform. But the scene is just ridiculous. The mercenaries are even worse, which is hilarious. Cynthia is merely a child, so I guess she is allowed to be kind of naive. But the mercenaries deserve no better than to be converted and cut down. HOW COULD THEY THINK RUGER WAS CHROM??
  16. I'm surprised that a skill as useful as Counter is listed in the bottom tier.
  17. Well, you knew what I meant, so who cares! ^_^ Headcanon can contain a lot of bias and personal preference anyway. Whereas I'm interested in what's believed to be most canon (arguably less bias). Mmm... I have been leaning towards Frederick and Miriel. They're both shepards too, so that makes sense. And they both scold Vaike for not having a weapon which is quite funny hehe. What makes you say Lon'qu and Cherche? I'm curious. :)
  18. You're both creating a problem with the avatar and/or don't seem to understand them properly. In truth, the avatar is not actually a character. If the avatar was meant to be a character, they would have a set name and appearance. But you are supposed to customise them. The avatar is supposed to be you. Hence being an avatar, instead of another uncustomisable character like Chrom. You are supposed to project yourself onto the avatar. So their "character" is not supposed to gain anything. It's you. You are the one who develops. They only appear to be bland because you're not projecting anything. You're not experiencing the situation; you're relying upon them to develop. But their "character" doesn't. Because that's not the avatar's role.
  19. Certain results occur because certain things are inevitable. Events are going to happen, but it's how you deal with them that matters. And those choices reflect on those NPCs around you. It's an experience, which emotions are invested into. The decision making process develops you as a player and your avatar as a character; not because of the outcome, but because of the path you chose. The outcome is merely consequential. If you skip the cutscenes, you're cutting and missing out on that experience and moving through the game in a really lazy unprogressive way. Here's an analogy... You and a friend are sharing a box of chocolates. You both feast on the box until only one chocolate is left. Two options are available; offer the friend the last chocolate, or take the chocolate for yourself. Either way, before you can finish the sentence, the friend reaches into the box and pounces on the last chocolate. They eat the chocolate. Now you never got to have the last chocolate, but there were two paths laid out in front of you. Two different choices which shape who you are. You gained an experience. And that's what matters. Try not to get so hung up about the chocolate!!
  20. Some really good suggestions TeamFalchion! :) Regarding the same sex marriages though... I have a feeling it would be difficult to pull off in such a medieval setting if there are children. Would they all be adopted? Would people be okay with this? It's tricky, so I can excuse Nintendo for this in a series like Fire Emblem. But not coding it for a game like Tomodachi Life where anything and everything is supposed to happen, it's just unacceptable.
  21. Emmeryn and Libra, you know it makes sense! Of course not! We're talking about supports, a fully customisable experience. Well... almost!
  22. Yes! I knew I'm not the only one haha Do you reckon Lon'qu x Olivia are somewhat canon? I know "canon" in a game like this is very much down to opinion, but I still like to think about it anyway. Lon'qu x Tharja felt like a good match at first, but then the epilogue says that Tharja never stayed with Lon'qu and went back to the desert she was used to. So it got me thinking about the medieval/fantasy setting and who would most likely court whom. It might sound like blasphemy, but Frederick being as close as he is to the exalts, might be a likely husband for Lissa, from an in-universe perspective. He's a Great KNIGHT after all. So certainly within nobility. Personally I don't think I'd put them together though haha, but it got me thinking.
