  1. I like that you can't change Morgan's name. It makes Morgan feel like a real character in Awakening instead of some self-insert character. I mean, if you let people change Morgan's name, you might as well let them choose Morgan's appearance, class and voice actor from the title screen.
  2. Good point. She could have been just a few months old now that I think about it. I'll edit it a bit.
  3. I think I've finally got this. During one cutscene, Chrom is talking to Robin about his father and the war with Plegia. He says and I quote: "The campaign only ended with his death fifteen years ago." So Awakening takes place fifteen years after Chrom's dad dies. This is crucial because in the same cutscene Chrom says that Emmeryn was nine years old when their dad passed: "When our father died before her 10th year, he left her quite the legacy..." So that means Emmeryn was 24 at the beginning on Awakening. Now according to this concept artwork... Emmeryn is 6 years Chrom's senior. So Chrom is 18. Lissa's age is a little more confusing. She's apparently 10 years younger than Emmeryn and 4 years younger than Chrom which should be impossible. Chrom's mother was still pregnant with Lissa when their father died, so she could only at the most be three years younger than her siblings. That means that both Emm and Chrom had their 10th and 4th birthdays before she was born, so they're probably a bit older at the end of the Mad King's War. So their ages are likely: Emmeryn: 24 to 25 at the end of part 1, and 27 at the end of the game. Chrom: 18 to 19 at the end of part 1, and 21 at the end of the game. Lissa: 15 at the end of part 1, and 17 at the end of the game. Oh. And Donnel: 14 at the end of part 1, and 16 at the end of the game; considering he's younger than Lissa and all.
  4. Considering the sheer amount of content that was in the game (plus the fact that Nintendo told Intelligence Systems that if Awakening didn't sell well the franchise would be discontinued,) I doubt that.
  5. Jarod is 100% dick, who is unreasonably evil for no reason. He's one of those villains that would castrate one of henchmen for disobeying orders then wonder why they turn around and backstab him. Radiant Dawn (and its infamous terribad writing) tried to humanize him right before part 1 ended, but that fell right on its face. Really? You've slaughtered hundreds of people and sent tons of men to their deaths and NOW you feel bad about one of them? Yeah right. Besides a Gary Stu Villain is better than a Gary Stu or Mary Sue protagonist.
  6. While replaying Radiant Dawn, I've been reminded that Zelgius might just be the most badass antagonist (at least for a while) in Fire Emblem history. He's calm, he's clever, he's powerful and he's the only character in the game with a good English voice actor. Every time he's shows up it means bad news for Ike and the gang. I never felt that way about any of the enemy generals in Awakening. They were incompetent flunkies who's only jobs were to be cannon fodder mini-bosses. Even the enemies that were important to the plot like Gangrel and Validar were a pair of easily outsmarted idjits in the end. Why didn't IS give us a antagonist on par with Zelgius? I wanted to see a bad guy who could Robin a run for his/her money show up, but they never did.
  7. Does Amy ever learn that Largo and Calil aren't her real parents? It would be kind of fucked up if she didn't. She kind of deserves to know the truth.
  8. Female heroes (Flavia in particular) look boss in Awakening. Male heroes look terribad in comparison. Why couldn't they look more like Ike did in Radiant Dawn? His hero outfit was awesome.
  9. Uh... Yes it does. That's the exact definition of a bad character. Anyway, my problem with Radiant Dawn is that it's too arrogant. It just assumes you've played Path of Radiance first and doesn't bother to give you any backstory, lore or details about what the fuck is going on. And I'm speaking as someone who played Radiant Dawn as his first Fire Emblem game. -Here's a brief insight into my experience playing Radiant Dawn- What is Daein and why is so fucked up? There was was a war? What war? Sothe was in a game before this? Wait, what are the Laguz? They can change form? Wait who are the Four Riders? What's Begnion? Who's the Mad King? What's this weapon triangle thing? Who's the Black Knight? Wait, now I'm playing as a different character? Queen Elinica was in a game before this too? And so was Marcia and Haar? Is another war going on? Huh? its a rebellion? Who's Geoffrey and all these other guys? Am I supposed to know them already? Who's this blue haired chick? Oh, she's trying to warn Elincia about who's behind the rebellion? Oh no! She's about to be executed! -Part 3 starts- Hey, that's Ike! I recognize him from Smash Brothers!
  10. Right then... Let it be known from this forward that Draco the Sentient Being From a Parallel Dimension's original class be dubbed.... Squall Marshal.
  11. There have been plenty of threads about which classes play the best, but what about the classes that look the best? We're talking 100% aesthetics here. The actual effectiveness of any of the classes doesn't come into question. I think the best looking is the myrmidon class. I love classes that use fur, and the emblem on the sash takes the cake for me. The worst in my opinion goes to the Hero class. I don't what Intelligence Systems were thinking, making one of the best classes in the game look the most ridiculous. I don't even want Ike's DLC character because I think his avatar and portrait look silly. The only character in the game with a decent looking hero avatar is Flavia. Sucks that it's character exclusive to her, though.
  12. Awakening, unlike most other Fire Emblems, encourage the player to experiment with character classes and find what works best for them. This being said, which characters who's original classes do you tend to keep the same throughout your playthroughs. And when I say original classes I'm including promotions as well. IE: Turning Severa into a Hero or a Bow Knight is still keeping her in her original class.
  13. I just started playing Fire Emblem last night, and I'm to the point where you recruit Florina and Wil. Can somebody please tell me when I'm going to be able to play the damn game without it constantly doting on me. Am I going to have to go through a mini-tutorial every time I recruit a new unit? I know this is the first Fire Emblem released outside of Japan, so it was supposed to tutor players on its mechanics, but this is starting to get ridiculous.
  14. I haven't contributed to the topic for a while, but hopefully I'll redeem myself with this three-for-one post. ------------------- Class Name: Wao-Shen Promotes From: Swordmaster/Assassin (Emperor's Sash) Description: The epitome of the myrmidon class tree. With it's godly use of the blade, the Wao-Shen is the usually the fastest thing on the field, and always the most deadly. Weapons: Swords Skill 1: Trueblade - No matter what weapon the opponent is using, the Wao-Shen's sword is always advantageous. (This doesn't include tombs or stones.) Skill 2: Stormedge - At a penalty of half attack, hit, and crit; the Wao-Shen can attack enemies at a two space distance with a wind slash. Gender Exclusivity: None. Stats: The Wao-Shen's stats mainly focus on Skill and speed like assassins and swordmasters. Though, there is a slightly higher focus on attack. ------------------- Class Name: Amazon Promotes from: Nothing (Sacred Body Ink) Description: The Amazon is a female combatant who thinks every battlefield is a jungle, and every enemy is her prey. Weapons: Swords, Bows, and spears Skill 1: Giantess - If the Amazon reaches half her health or lower, her defense and resistance are increased by half the other's amount. Skill 2: Warcry - A rally move that works on enemies instead of allies. It lowers the move of all enemies in three spaces to 0 for one turn. It cannot be used twice in a row. Gender Exclusivity: Female Stats: The Amazon is the more defensive and versatile female counterpart to the Berseker. Her stats focus on strength, defense, and resistance. ------------------- Class Name: Missionary Promotes from: Nothing, though it can be thought of as a cousin of the priest and cleric class trees (Naga's Cloth.) Description: Sworn to spread Naga's blessings, the Missionary is an agile and well traveled healer who focuses more on speed and skill than might or magic. Weapons: Staffs and Bows Skill 1: Healforce - Once per turn, grants an extra action after healing an ally. Skill 2: Pilgrimage - If there are no other units for three spaces, this unit is granted a bonus 2 move. Gender Exclusivity: None Stats: Missionaries are fragile units, that get by on their high avoid. Their stats focus on speed, skill, and resistance. ------------------- Aaaaaaannnd...... I'm done.
  15. Not really. Though, I think this skill could just be learned upon entering the class instead of waiting until level 30.
  16. By all means, keep fiddling with necrophilia. I love it when people resurrect old topics!
  17. Supports are as much a staple in Fire Emblem games as the weapon triangle, but the marriage mechanic is much more novel. It not only encourages you to pair characters off, but it gives the game ridiculous amount of replay value. The question is; are we going to see it again? Is marriage now going to be a staple in Fire Emblem games? I mean, how marriage works in Awakening is extremely specific to the plot of the game: your characters marry to give birth to children that come from an apocalyptic future. Obviously, that can't be the scenario for every Fire Emblem after this one. Is there anyway or even any reason for IS to keep the marriage system instead of going back to typical supports?
  18. Shouldn't Dragonslayer's Skills work against Wyvern Riders and Knights as well?
  19. Inquisitor is a very interesting class. It would be a perfect endgame class for characters like Libra and Brady. The names of the skills are brilliant by the way. And Groom would make a perfect counterpart to bride. There would have to be a bonus skill or special action for pairing a broom and a bride together in combat.
  20. Nice class. Also, you can post as many classes you want as long as they aren't repost. So go nuts.
  21. You cannot bring back old classes. The class has to be new, though you can reuse old skills if you want to.
  22. And I do mean "create." You're not dragging an old class from another Fire Emblem game and putting it in Awakening's roster. Let's say IS decided to do DLC again and add a new class to the game, and you were given creative authority on it. This class can be a standalone like the Dread Fighter or Bride or can be a new third tier class that caps at level 30. Please include Class Name, Weapons, 2 Skills (Since this is a DLC only class they'll be learned at levels 1 and 15. Just keep that in mind,) whether the class is gender exclusive or not; and finally, a brief description of the class that you would see at the promotion/reclassing screen. (If the class you create is the third tier to an existing class, please name the class it promotes from.) Now... Let me break the ice. Class Name: Warden Weapons: Spears & Tombs Skill 1: [Impale] - Allows the user to strike three times in one attack. Activation: Skill divided by 2. Skill 2: [Beastbreaker] - Increases Hit Rate & Evasion by 20% when fighting beast units. Gender Exclusivity: None Description: Wardens are knights who've trained in the wilderness to accumulate sharp instincts. They are especially deadly when facing beast units. Promotes From: None
  23. Still better than dying. Also, I'm not sure how much you keep up with sports, but that specific player, Michael Sam, kind of sucks and probably won't play in the regular season. His career was probably going to be short even if he didn't come out. In fact, his career might be safer now, because if he gets cut from the team, the media will immediately roll up and claim the action was a bigot-inspired one. Anywho! Back to the topic: I might be the only person on this site who thinks Chrom!Village Maiden is canon. I mean it makes the most sense seeing that Lucina inherits her father's hair, personality, class, and most of his skills. None of Chrom's potential wives rubbed off on her in the slightest. Marrying the Village Maiden assures that Lucina is exactly what she appears to be - a copy of her dad.
