  1. Hey guys, sorry if this has been asked before, but one of my friends connected to MyCastle and said he left me an accessory. I checked my inbox and I don't have anything, no feedback, accessories, nothing. All it says is "No data". I updated my game multiple times and checked to see if my Spotpass/Streetpass/etc were all activated and they all are. Has this happened to anyone else here or am I just missing something really silly?

Edit: I think I figured it out! Just put your 3DS to sleep then the next day it SHOULD update itself. It might not do it right away but once the game alerts you to having new data, just Update from the crystal ball and then check your inbox, it SHOULD work then.

  2. In Awakening: FeMU with Chrom, ended up choosing him over Frederick cause he was more present in the story.

MaMU with Emmeryn cause I think she's adorable and wanted to see how she played out since I never really touch the units with Avatar only supports.

In Fates: ...I can't decide, I'm on the fence with Jakob, Silas, and Kaze so far. I'm slowly opening their supports and seeing how they are, otherwise I'll just pick Jakob as the tie breaker.

Usually when I pick a unit in my first playthrough it's for the most part a gut reaction rather than "how useful are they?" then playthroughs after that I try making super soldiers.

  3. According to the email I got, yes. However, so many different answers have been given to me personally (not to mention everyone else), so who knows really.

I think that's why it stresses me out, no formal word on what's up with this preorder fiasco. Well my Gamestop hasn't called me to say I no longer have it preordered so the best I'm gonna assume is it's fine and just pay it off when I have the chance to go back up to the store, I only owe maybe ten bucks left on it. Regardless, thank you for emailing them and sharing it with us!

  4. This only makes me wonder, do amiibos give you exclusive items too? I don't know if the bear hat is exclusive or not, I understand that if you don't have the amiibo you can't fight the amiibo, which I think I'm okay if I never get to do that, but I'll be a little peeved if I miss in-game items from it.

As for names, I wonder why they chose Mozu? I mean in Awakening they could've easily just had us refer to Donnel as Donny but they didn't, so why shorten her name? Niles doesn't look like it fits but that's just from me calling him Zero the whole time, I'm sure I'll get used to it.=)

  5. I just checked my receipt, I ordered mine Nov 17th, a little bit after the direct I think. I have it for the most part paid off, maybe ten dollars left to throw at it. Thanks for the heads up, it's a little bit of a drive but I think I'll swing by Gamestop tomorrow and see how things are looking (and if good, I'll just pay it off and not worry about the darn thing).

  6. I thought they all sounded pretty good except Elise. Elise's doesn't match her at all, delivery and personality-wise, but I'm just basing her voice with how she looks and not story stuff (two more months, UGH! D: ) Only issue I could raise with Xander's is his delivery, I think his voice matches him. We'll see how it all turns out in a few months but I'm not worried. :)

  7. Thank you for sharing this stuff, I love when he draws the downtime characters!

    bless kozaki for shirtless tsubaki

I wonder when he'll draw downtime Ryouma, he's done most of the other siblings now I think, except him and Elise?

Yespls, I'd love to see Ryouma and Elise as well

  8. I think it quite different with the Japanese fanbase, especially with Kamui. While on the western fanbase, the reception for Kamui has been mixed to downright disappointed (which is justified in regards to how they handle the story and how other characters view Kamui to near perfection.) For the japanese fanbase, I guess people just embrace Kamui as an avatar and just rolled with it. I haven't heard of opinions but that seems to be the case.

You're probably right, I'll admit I don't know much on how the Japanese fanbase takes them and am just rolling on what I hear here and there on this forum for the most part (heck wouldn't be able to find polls like this without you guys posting them!) and the fact that I'm shutting my eyes and ears on any sort of story spoilers. I dunno, I guess if I was given a character poll to vote in I wouldn't even vote for either Kamui since it's supposed to be "me". I think other characters are more interesting and deserve the vote way more than "me" but that's just how I roll with polls.

  9. I have yet to play Fates so I wouldn't know how the storyline or mechanics are in comparison. I've played Awakening though and I thought it was pretty fun for my first game in the series. I think that if you want a feel for how the 3DS games are going (cause seeing some gameplay, Fates does look like it operates like Awakening) then try out Awakening. It's just one game, unlike Fates where if you want to see all routes that's three, so if you don't like it you're not out on much money.

  10. My best friend since I was eight passed away about 3 months ago now. I completely agree with you on how much that sucks, and it hurts a lot to watch your pet, your family member, leave. What I ended up doing to cope during his illness was to spend time with him and let him know I loved him. Just doing little things like letting him sit on my lap while I worked, let him sleep next to me, and making sure he at least attempted to eat something every day.

During and after his death I felt a little lost as to how to deal with it, so I ended up getting a book to help guide me through the healing process ("Saying Goodbye to Your Angel Animals" is what I got, you can take whatever you want from it and agree/disagree to points they make. I still found it helpful in guiding why I felt the way I did. It gives you meditation questions that you could do if you want also) but you don't have to get a book if you don't want to. I found talking about your friend to people you trust helps also and writing in a journal when you're feeling down. You could write about anything, it really helped organize how I felt.

The most important of all, do what you think feels right. If you don't want a new pet right away, that's okay. If you do,that's fine too. Everyone deals with loss differently. I'm really sorry that you lost your dog, it really hurts to lose a pet.

  11. Still hyped for this! I know nothing about the plot (I want to experience it for myself) and I don't know most of the characters, so I'm pretty in the dark about a lot of it. I've seen a PvP video though, that's gonna be sweet to mess around with postgame.

  12. This might be a silly question but I'll ask anyways. Do you get any extra stuff from Fates if a save of Awakening exists on the same SD card? I heard for Radiant Dawn that you get different stat boosts and such if you had a Path of Radiance save data on the card you were using to also save RD on. I kind of doubt Fates is doing that for Awakening but was just curious.

  13. My first playthrough of Awakening I put people together based on if they looked cute together, I had no idea what the kids even looked like or what classes they started with, same with Fates (for the most part, I know what some of them look like at least, I'm trying hard to avoid those).

Second playthrough of Awakening though it was to fill the Support log and try to make the best kid unit I could make with the people I just paired up (basically which skills I liked best and passed those down). I really liked doing that since it made me use characters I didn't use before (like Maribelle, good lord is she fantastic!)

So basically I'll go for love the first run through for Fates, then eugenics/love next playthrough.

  14. Phoenix makes it so that you don't lose units during the map itself. Apparently, temporarily losing a unit for a map was still seen as "too intimidating".

So wait, they just can't die at all? I guess if you're super scared on the Nohr path that might be nice but...ehhh

  15. First playthrough I'm gonna go normal/casual to get a feel for the game, I want to enjoy the story at my own pace...then next time I'll go classic and watch everyone die :D

Quick question, what is this Phoenix mode I keep hearing about? If it brings dead units back (sounds like what it does to me) then what's the point of casual? Unless it redeploys them onto the field, then that's pretty nice.

  16. As a person whose been lurking these forums, I thank you so much for this spoiler free thread! Thankfully, I've managed to avoid story spoilers so far, but I've ran into small ones (I avoid the Hype Thread like the plague D: )

I'm no good with stats discussions but I'll chime in whenever I think I can contribute. From what little gameplay I've seen, this game looks really fun and I can't wait for it!

  17. Renown isn't spent, it unlocks single-use items. You know how the Bonus Items section works (where Book of Naga is)? It's exactly like that except you can only claim each item if your Renown is at the required level.

You can still only get one of each per file, but getting them doesn't change your Renown.

Oh, I'm sorry I kept thinking of them like points. When you say levels it makes a lot more sense. I think I understand now why other people want a higher Renown then, me I was just curious as to how it worked. I rarely ever use it. Thanks for your help again!

  18. It sounds like main concensus is using a bit of Galeforce or Olivia/Rescue Chrom. I never really thought of that, I was too preoccupied with stat bonuses.

I haven't done the spotpass Paralogues for quite a while, but can't you just fly Chrom x FK Sumia in, switch, talk with Chrom, switch, kill something with Sumia, GF, switch, talk again, switch, Rescue Olivia, Dance Sumia, switch again, talk again and then Rescue all three out all in one turn?

That...has never occurred to me. Thinking about it, my biggest problem was probably throwing in Frederick as Chrom's ferryman. I'm definitely gonna try this the next time I open this one up though, cause that's amazing if it actually works.

Just did it yesterday on my avatarxchrom solo lunatic playthrough... There are no counter units in the map.

Clear the initial enemy units and proceed to choke the point witht he fort in the middle of the map. Grangrel should move last so he won't rush to you unless no other melee units are alive. This requires galeforce at least to slowly clear draco knights and unequip on enemy phase... once there are no more draco knights recruit gangrel and let him get to the other side of the map while avatar clears th lolngbow archers in the end.

Chrom can switch to unarmed avatar after speaking with gangrel each time. You should have no problem tanking with nosferatu and toncs, you know normal stuff.

Either I'm remembering wrong or it's because I used a full team, but Gangrel would always start going after my guys right out of the gate. That was one of my problems before I settled on the plan I developed. So as long as I don't kill all the melee fighters, he should hang back?

I just cleared the lower half with a sword user by dodging the axes and killing the other units just like, by rescue bombing or standing back and baiting. I was somewhat conservative so I just did Chrom talk -> Rescue, Chrom talk next turn, Rescue again, Dance Chrom, talk, have Chrom sit on Gangrel and retreat to seperate right afterwards. I did that on Hard mode easily, so you shouldn't have a problem doing it on NM Casual.

Just to clarify, when you mean rescue bombing, you mean you'd send a unit out to fight further away from your main party then once they were done you just rescued them back over? Rescue spamming Chrom out of the death trap I usually send him in is a pretty good idea, I never did it so I'll try that next time.

My best advice is to have Olivia hide behind a strong unit, assuming she doesn't have Galeforce

I was thinking of maybe having her run over with Chrom once the enemy units have thinned a bit. If she doesn't have galeforce then she'll just come with unequipped. At that point she should be strong enough to take a few hits if Gangrel or others decide to fight her. If she does have galeforce though, I'll have her get a smack in before dancing for Chrom.
Thanks for the responses guys, it helps a lot to see different perspectives on how to recruit him!
  19. Hello everyone! If you haven't gotten to Paralogue 18 this will have spoilers for that, just a heads up!

I've played through Awakening twice now on Normal/Casual and very few recruitable characters ever give me trouble as much as Gangrel (not including Paralogue 17 good lord). So I've thought about it, and would like to know, what do you guys do for that chapter to recruit him? I'll share what I usually do, but I'm almost positive there is a better way to go about it.

My strategy is to make sure that I at least have two flying units. Frederick is a Wyvern Lord with A support for Chrom who is a Great Lord. I pair those two together and put them in the mountains right until Gangrel comes close enough to them, which ends up happening at the bottleneck of the two mountainsides. I'll fly out and switch to a weaponless Chrom and talk to Gangrel.

Meanwhile, my other flying unit (it doesn't really matter who it is, my first time playing through was Grand Master Female Avatar and Falcon Knight Cordelia) will pair up with the Avatar and make their way to the village. My other units, besides Lissa and Libra, would go and clean up the spawn area but avoid going near the bottleneck just in case they pull Gangrel to them. Lissa (Sage) and Libra (Sage) were on standby in case anyone needed healing.

With the village taken care of and the spawn area clear, I just wait on Chrom to finish talking to Gangrel for two more turns, meaning Chrom is weaponless during that time. On Normal difficulty that isn't a problem, but I think this plan would fail on Hard and up. Needless to say, Chrom finally gets Gangrel to join. Since I'm Casual scum, I just send Gangrel off to fight everyone by himself, but when I play on Classic I planned on just having Lissa or Libra to rescue him so he doesn't get killed by his former comrades.

After that, everyone charges in and cleans up the map. It doesn't seem too hard of a map, it's just Gangrel makes it difficult if you really want to recruit him. Like I've said, I know my strategy isn't that great, so I'm curious on what others on Serenes Forest have tried.
