Are these your A Supports? Only As Transfer.

Elincia/Geoffrey have a Bond without Transfers. Comes with being siblings- even Marcia/Makalov have a Bond. Not sure why there's a few PoR Supports that always have Bonds, though.

Yeah I have a few, namely Elincia and Ike with A and in the Stats menu I don't see their respective names, with Elincia I only see the basic ones.

  2. So, after an eternity of wanting to play PoR and RD, I finally can. I got to max out some units, but some obviously didn't since I'm doing two blind playthroughs more or less.

But, one thing I know is that Bond Supports appear on a units screen under the supports section. You can't attach supports to said unit, but you can keep them from PoR. But, as I've been playing, I noticed some, discrepancies.

Supports I didn't fill out, had Bond bonuses, and so on. And I had transfered my save. A few notable ones were the Tormod and Sothe supports I wish I had gotten but never did. So, in reality, I don't know why these aren't appearing. Even the Ike x Elincia supports I kept throughout the game didn't pass over, but instead she got full Bond Supports with Geoffrey (who I didn't even use more than once cause XP Drain) and it's just, confusing.

Am I not supposed to be able to see said Bond Supports in the Support page? Or did my save just not pass on right?

The ending only states they never found him during their lifetime though, not that his whereabouts were never known afterwards so her descendants finding him isn’t off the table. I don’t see how arriving at Archanaea would be a problem since everyone seems to conveniently end up where they need to be whenever they use that. I imagine his grave would have his name on the tombstone but like regardless they don’t even have to find his grave. All that needs to be found is Ragnell and I don’t see why he would be buried with it.

It’s not that I’m saying Ike feels the need to be with a woman as much as I’m saying they might have decided to have a child and had some assistance with it. It’s strictly business.

Adoption seems like something Ike would but that’s neither here nor there.

Sure, the gates get you where you need to go, that's perfectly fine. But if they have to find Ragnell, and he's dead. Where'd they get his cape from? Where'd they learn to pass on the components of aether in the hopes his descendants would master it?

And having kids for "strickltly business" to me doesn't make sense if Ike is to be with Soren. He doesn't need to have children at that point, adoption makes the most sense. At least, as I always say, it's how I see it. Who knows for real.

That doesn't mean the team who did Awakening did Tellius. Look at all the mistakes they made with Archanea for one.

And yeah, Ike traveling to Archanea with Ragnell for some reason, then having a kid with some random girl is bad fanfiction tier.

Simply if you dislike it doesn't mean it's bad dude. Hell, him traveling the world and arriving in Archanaea fits at least in the traveling to grow stronger part.

But you will have your PoV.

Edit: Might I add Tellius didn't sell well nor was it extremely popular in the FE fanbase in Japan (their largest fanbase) for whatever reason. So, they kinda decided to modify it as time went on from the looks of it. At least, that's what I see.

That idea is so freaking dumb that its little wonder why Priam isn't a popular character anywhere.

Why is it dumb? IS chose to expand upon Ike's story as they saw fit. It's their IP after all.

How much screen time did Priam really get?

In Awakening? His chapter, the supports, ending dialogue, and not sure what else. Cipher expanded upon IS apparent decision to keep him linked to Ike as well. Honestly, once he's in Heroes, and since we always get lore tidbits in Heroes, I hope we get to see more.

Although in the general context of Fire Emblem, said word is also used for Marth as a descendent of Anri, and Anri died loveless and childless. It is his younger brother Marcelus from whom Marth is descended, which is not lineal.

And to be fair, the great Japanese master of the sword Musashi just used adoption to keep his school and family line intact. Medieval Japan did allow for fairly generous adoption rules- Hideyoshi considered "adopting" Ieyasu or one of his other generals of his age as his son before Hideyori popped out.

Yeah the Marth/Anri debacle thing does have some leniency. Though I still find Mist' descendants finding Ike's cracked, broken ass shit in his grave rather, disturbing. But that's me. And yeah I based my whole adoption thing similarly to Musashi. Ike is a warrior at heart, and Zelgius his eventual final teacher. I would think he'd likely follow in the footsteps of the warrior he found his equal in. Just, yknow, not int he whole turn evil to find a worthy opponent level of Zelgius.

But yeah, I really hope Priam get's in Heroes. I want to see what he'll say. Normally, most dialogue in Heroes is rather normal, but some characters with lesser lore (like Grima for example) got a lot more interesting with Heroes in tow.

Having Ike reproduce through natural means with some woman or Priam possibly being a descendant by proxy of Mist isn’t exactly convoluted.

It is convoluted when Mist and nobody who remains in RD knows of his whereabouts according to his ending. Like, assuming Mist' descendants find him at all is going against the ending of RD in a nutshell. Furthermore, they'd need to arrive at Archanaea via Outrealm (instead of every other world), find his grave, loot his fucking grave somehow knowing it's him, and then after desecrating his corpse (cause if Ragnell is in tatters I doubt they'd find him alive), wearing it all. That's not only convoluted, it's just not right. Not to mention the wording used in japanese (Shishon) is indicative of lineal descent, not branched descent. But I digress

Furthermore, Ike being with Soren, and feeling the apparent need to be with another woman if he truly does love Soren, really doesn't bode well for the ship if that's what you need to have Priam be a thing.

Thus why I rather just assume Ike followed Zeglius' footsteps and ended up raising some orphan like him before dying and handing his sword and shiz off. Just fits his nonchalant, doesn't want to be remembered personality.

    Also lol Spring Scramble

Straight couples don't need kids either. Nailah and Rafiel are married and can't have kids due to being of totally different Tribes, and yet they don't seem to mind.

    That's not the point neccesarily.

The point is that Priam, as a character himself, has azure hair (a trait shared by most main lords), holds a bunch of Ike memorabilia, and can even use Aether of all things (in Cipher at least, in Awakening he's still in training).

Besides that, point is. If you have to come up with convoluted ways to complete a ship or pairing, that's also not great. at least, that's how I see it.

  8. 29 minutes ago, Book Bro said:

Whether Priam is canon or not doesn't even matter tbh. Gay people can reproduce. Bisexual people exist. Mist exists. But people will latch on to anything to discredit Ike being gay while moaning about how people who point out the subtext and all the hints and him being in a Valentine's banner with Soren are grasping at straws.

It also doesn't seem to matter that RD came out in 2007 when queer rights weren't as socially accepted as today, and that all the "obvious" queer characters people reference came after, in the 3DS era. Heather was the most obviously queer character before that and even she never outright said "I'm a lesbian". It wouldn't have gone over well to have the main character be any more explicit about it back then, and it doesn't fit Ike's personality to go around saying it anyway.

There's in inherent problem with most other theories though.

If Ike wished to be with Soren, there's no need for children, so that theory just doesn't make sense.

Being Bisexual also doesn't mean Ike is going to be with anybody else to have children.

And Mist makes even less sense since nobody ever hears from Ike again in his ending. meaning some poor descendant of Mist would have to travel via outrealm gate, find Ike's grave, dig him up, take Ragnell, and his cape, and somehow learn to use aether. That's just a bit much.

Closest thing Ike/soren can get, at least given the current context, is Ike training a kid after him, since he saw himself in the kid. But then there's cipher stating Ike's travels and not mentioning anyone else with him at any point and time. But I suppose IS decides what they wanna do with that.

And I don't think it's the problem with Ike being explicit. More along the lines of him being as blatantly uninterested in anyone and anything aside from fighting. He's the equivalent of Zelgius but with friends, and even then he would rather go around and fight people to get stronger. That's how I see Ike (also extremely stoic in a good way but that's another aspect)

The problem with Priam being canon is that it completely renders Awakening's story pointless.

    For reference:

Aversa when she's defeated in the story: “Ahh...finally... Sweet...death... Finally...the pain... F-finally...it ends...”

Yen'Fay when he's defeated in the story: “Well fought... She will...be...safe... I can die...in peace...”

Emmeryn leapt off the cliff and the whole kingdom mourns.

But wait none of that mattered at all because THEY ALL LIVED MIRACULOUSLY.

Having Oprah going  'YOU GET TO LIVE. YOU GET TO LIVE. EVERYONE GETS TO LIVE!!!' will make as much sense as the explanation the Spotpass paralogues gave.

I thought Leon's sexuality was more heavily implied back in Gaiden? It wasn't until SoV that it was confirmed but I may be wrong about that. Also Raven? Lucius? They're pretty ambiguous to me.

I will add this though: In Sharena's chibi artwork page, the English simply used 'trusting' while the Chinese language used '敞開心扉' to describe Soren's relationship with Ike. The Chinese term goes beyond 'trusting' and is more about 'opening one's heart up to another'. The term can be used in the context of both super close friendships or romantic relationships.

Well, Raven x Lucius can be seen in multiple ways. Raven is simply annoyed by him at the start (trying to create distance) while Lucius is trying to help the kid he was raised with (equivalent to brothers as well since, this time, Lucius was adopted explicitly if I recall). So this one is more up to interpretation than anything.

Aside from that, I don't think the "you get to live!" logic fits Spotpass. Outrealm gates prove that there's variations. Simply put, all the heroes that survived in Spotpass were either from your world or not. Emm is from your world because this is her post splat and with amnesia (Miracle worked for once!!!), and Aversa remembers the fight with you, so she seemingly wished for death but survived, that's how I see it.

Yen'Fay, Walhart and the others (aside from Priam who's a special case) mention how they are from alternate worlds. Namely, one where Walhart was defeated but not killed, and one where Yen"Fay kill Say'ri.

Priam however is actually cannon in existence. Cipher explains further upon his story, and even shows him wielding Ragnell whilst covered in blue flames, while stating that a Legendary Hero with the very blade he carried traveled to the world they inhabit (Archanaea) and traveled to grow stronger.

This is probably the only thing I’ll say regarding the “shipping” topic. Every time the subject comes up regarding IkexSoren, some people say they don’t support the pairing because there were no “gay vibes” between them. What does that even mean? I find that quite shallow and almost insulting in its phrasing because it seems to imply that a same-gender pairing HAS to be obvious and stereotypically so in order to be a “valid” pairing. One of the reasons I like IkexSoren is precisely because it’s not particularly obvious and is handled in a rather subtle way, which was rare for the series back then.

Back on topic, this is a great banner but I think I’ll pull until I get one of them and call it quits. I’ve been saving a lot of orbs lately and I’m trying to not run out until someone I really want shows up (which probably won’t be until Brave Micaiah.

While I agree with the ships not needing to be so blatant, IS has a track record of making and and any gay pairings rather blatantly obvious (Leon from Echoes anyone?). Plus, they've kinda steered away from that pairing as time goes in in both Cipher and the overarching story, especially with the original writers shipping the two so heavily, and IS doing the exact opposite and simply keeping it as neutral as humanly possible. Hell in Cipher they explain that Ike traveled to Archanaea (Can I drop a link to the translated text?)

That being said, ya'll can ship what you want. The only thing that irks me is the whole "muh ship is cannon!" argument. Which, even the crazy Rob x Olivia shipper I am (and I can find some evidence spread across Fates and Awakening, that should explain how much I like the pairing XD) knows that nothing shall ever be cannon. As is the way IS does things.

And I am going to pull for Ike. I wanted to save for Find and Vote, but fucking Ike man. Just the art has me wanting to pull for him.

  11. Well, if I had to pick something I like, I'd say some of the supports (some of them, not all of them are great).

The music is great. And the art (not the class art, more or less the official art) we got is great as well.

Negatives are the story (sadly it's pretty mediocre, sadly), and the gameplay (who though allowing fliers with tomes to dodge and survive bows, which were made to slay fliers more often, was a smart idea?

My opinions are pretty much the same as @XRay.

Personally, I'd like to have them add a feature where they have the Japanese VA with English subtitles.  The English VAs are awful.

I'd say it depends on the Enlgish VA if we're being honest. Hell, I dislike 2 of Olivia's VA's but P!Arts is incredible in English.

But there's other's like Hector, or Lyn, and many more which are very good at what they do. So I wouldn't call it bad.

You're probably better off just writing a list of things in not-a-sentence. So something like "Robin, Olivia, characters from Genealogy" ("ルフレ、オリヴィエ、聖戦の系譜のキャラ").

Or wait to see if they put out a translated survey, though the free-text fields are more likely to actually be read from the Japanese survey.

Yeah that's why I'm trying to write it here. They listen to the US, but I'm pretty sure they take the Japanese fanbase a bit more

  14. 7 minutes ago, Ice Dragon said:

You'll want to find the Japanese name in a wiki or other resource because some characters' names are completely different between the English and Japanese, and people won't know who you're talking about if you get it wrong. That's just how proper nouns work.

Also, as a note, Google translate is notoriously bad at translating between languages with different sentence structures. English is subject-verb-object, and Japanese is subject-object-verb. They've gotten better over the years, but a human with one year of college-level Japanese is still far better than machine translation at constructing sentences correctly.

I see. then I'll have to find a different way to translate then. Thanks!

  15. 4 minutes ago, Anacybele said:

Other countries who play this game are just chopped liver I guess. Don't our opinions matter too? Don't they want to keep the western playerbase? They had a survey for other languages last year, you know, so there's no excuse. Screw this imo.

Well, I agree. But the thing is, Japan has maintained most of it's income through the year, while I do believe the Western income from the game decreased, so they're asking what the people who pay most want. May seem like we're chopped liver but it's just business really.

  16. So, if I wanted to write something along the lines of "I'd love to see more Olivia and Robin. Oh and maybe some more Genealogy characters!" In Japanese. Google translate leaves the names untranslated. Should I just enter it that way, or do I have to translate them separately? Perhaps find the japanese version of the name in the wiki and translate that?

Also, this is pretty interesting. Not surprised it's for Japan only (it is their biggest center of income), I'm just astounded nothings out in the US yet.

I was thinking about giving Tibarn Guard/Escutcheon/Heavy blade seal. Galeforce is more fun obviously, but this might make stronger duelist. Simulation gives him W265/L0/I49. do you think it's worth doing?

Well, the question is, is your simulation simply all the units with base kits at +10? If so, then I don't think it's an accurate representation of what you want to test. You'd probably want to test it by editing each unit to be as optimal as possible and seeing how it would react (the build) versus said units, since that's what you're likely to see (at least that's how I do it).

And, I dunno, Escutcheon seems to strange. He has such a high atk stat that, and his def is at 31, so I'm not sure if it's worth it to invest so much into tanking when he can wipe out entire arena teams with galeforce alone.

I tried it, but I dunno I didn't like it much. Was far too grindy for me (and the rates are pretty bad). I guess FEH spoiled me with lack of grinding cause, I just can't get into the swing of that game.

Does it get better, as in, the story and the gameplay, or has the game remained mostly the same since launch?

I played a good amount of Awakening and a small section of Fates not too long ago, just didn't have nearly as much fun as any other FE game I've played. Also the fact that I can't get them easily since it requires me to go back and invest in a seemingly dead console kinda kills it for me

Ehh I wouldn't say the 3DS is dead per se, there's a bunch of great RPG's for the 3DS and the console is rather cheap as of late (FE obviously, SMT if you want another good series of games, and much more). But yeah I can see your point.

  21. 11 minutes ago, Kaze's favourite pillow said:

If you want a good story, go for Fe4, granted the gameplay is only on the lowest side of acceptable, saved by its unique mechanics.

If you want a good gameplay mixed with some good challenge go either with Thracia or New Mystery. The former is basically FE4 but with better gameplay and the latter has the best customizations for your avatar, since you can select his class.

Never played Tellius games and I heard mixed options. From what I saw I like POR a bit more tho.

I know you discarded 3DS era but things can change so I will say some things about those

Awakening: the game itself can be fun because all those reclassing and extra levels but if you played FE6 Hard Mode and finished it, you'll find it really easy unless it's Lunatic. And Lunatic/Lunatic+ requires you to do a perfect plan that can easily be ruined by RNG.

Birthright: less easy than Awakening but still quite the breeze since Ryoma exists. People says that without him, the game is actually challenging.

Conquest: easily my favorite when it comes to gameplay, challenging but fair (except for Lunatic!Endgame), almost perfect balance for the characters (pretty much everyone can be used without too many issues. Right Wendy?), many options for your units due to the reclass system, finding new combinations of class and skills is just a blast in my opinion. The story is pretty bad but it has some good moments here and there, and chapters from 22 to endgame are enjoyable from a story perspective. I mean, at least I liked the final arc but idk about you guys.

Revelations: ugh. Some custom maps are nice but most of the new maps are ass (looking at you, Sumeragi) and the recycled maps are made worse (Chapter 10 of Conquest, what did they do to you? ;3; ) The story is okay-ish though, but Yukimura is super dumb here. Also the best game if you want to do PVP or min max your units, but I'd rather not play it ever again.

Echoes: bleah. The story is cool and all but even the genius that is Berkut's writing couldn't save it from the awful gameplay. The mechanics aren't that bad but the maps are... Urgh.

    Also avoid heroes.

I honestly wouldn't say FE4's story is that good, if we're being honest. Gen 1 is okay, but Sigurd's lack of logical forethough (dude ignores prophecies as if they're not real, and he has a Holy sword he can use). I will agree with the gameplay being saved only due to being niche. The work it takes to walk through a map (and or a desert *shudders* is literally an eternity).

And to be honest, I wouldn't say "avoid Heroes". If he's okay with playing the game and simply taking it as a way to waste some time between things (doctor's office, or something that you're just waiting for) it's quite good for that, since, it was obviously made to be played in short bursts.

45 minutes ago, Swift Saturn said:

After reading the responses, I've started to lean more towards playing some of the DS titles next (especially New Mystery of the Emblem), then I'll go to the Tellius titles. Since both New Mystery of the Emblem and the Tellius games are mechanically similar to both 6 and 7, I'd probably have the most fun going there next. The 3DS titles I'd probably play dead last in terms of the series, mostly because it's the only 3 games in the series I can't easily get, and also the fact that I've tried playing the 3DS titles via a friend a while ago, and I didn't have nearly as much fun as any other FE title with it. Sorry 3DS era fans.

Hmm, what 3DS games did you play I wonder? They're fun, for sure, perhaps not as difficult as some of the other FE's (you have to play Hard or Lunatic for a challenge) but they're still relatively good. I'll still recommend them if you can ever get your hands on a 3DS.

  22. Okay, let's start with calling out the obvious games to play.

Awakening is a must, it's probably the best 3ds game. The story is good (it's consistent and even with it's flaws (which some were adressed with other entries), it is still overall great). The combat is pseudo broken (pair ups) but can be fixed if you force yourself to not abuse it, by using other units or simply doing challenge runs and whatnot. The characterization is also very good for the game, if you ignore characters like Nah, or Tharja (who is horrible), or avoid supports that are heavily cliched like Chrom x Olivia and whatnot. I for one don't really recommend Fates if you like the story at all, but if you're in it solely for gameplay, play Conquest and forget the other two. And Echoes, well I recommend it, but it's a very oddball game. It's enjoyable, but to get the full story and full feel for the game, not to mention overclasses, you have to pay for DLC, so I would only recommend it if you are okay with playing it once or twice and then just leaving it alone.

I easily recommend Genealogy. However, it isn't the gem many make it out to be in my eyes. It's story is flawed (Sigurd for the most part makes it hard to take the story seriously at times), and the gameplay can be a bit, if not very taxing with the enormous maps, but it's still a good game overall. If you're used to characterization in the GBA era I will warn you, it isn't great for the majority of the cast. Tharcia is also good, but the game doesn't have a very stable patch rn. One is being worked on to translate both the menus and the story, but as of now you can only translate one or the other, so I'd ask you to wait (it's also pretty brutal gameplay wise, mostly due to the lack of visibility)

And Tellius, should be played by anyone, at anytime. Games are incredible and supremely fun, no matter the game.

I for one like New Mystery, that is, if you don't mind my units. Kris is rather forced, and is shown to be a great warrior who has Tharja level obssession (or Camilla levels) to Marth, and it would seem good if he didn't literally jump in the way of fights to stop Marth from even getting scratched. So Marth in some ways looses a few cool points, but not enough to destroy the game entirely. Shadow Dragon is good, but I tend to like New Mystery better. These 2 are very similar however. And Tellius, should be played by anyone, at anytime. Games are incredible and supremely fun, no matter the game

If I had to pick a game for you to play next, and since you've placed the GBA games, I'd tell you to play Genealogy (Thracia when project Exile is done), then Shadow Dragon and New Mystery, followed by Echoes if you can, PoR and RD, and finally Awakening  (Fates if you feel like you can take the bad story)

Why in this order you may ask? Well, the mainline series (Genealogy, and Archanaea) are in the same universe, and the overarching world story follows this format, with Ike making his way to Archanaea between New Mystery and Awakening (according to Fire Emblem Cipher and his own ending) so I always recommend it this way. It'll also allow you to understand each reference in Awakening (since it's meant to be IS' love letter before they almost died as a company), which has many, dating back to brands from Genealogy to the subtle hints as to how Grima was formed, and even Priam (who holds Ragnell, Ike's cape, and even looks a bit like Greil if you ask me)

TLDR: Genealogy/Thracia(Project Exile), Shadow Dragon, Echoes, New Mystery, Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn, Awakening, maybe Fates if you feel up to it
