Oh, another highlight was watching the smash dlc update on the projector screen with a crowd of people. Got to see a lot of funny reactions. :) Yep, I played plenty of friendlies. Had more fun with those than the actual tournament. If there are any more tournaments that are close enough to where I live then I would be more than happy to attend. :) Well I don't put any time into competitive smash but it kinda says something when I decided to troll the last match of my pool with Wii fit trainer and did better than any of my previous matches with Ike. :/ Not to mention that I've used Wii fit trainer like once when the game came out. Those buffs do look pretty good for Ike, too bad the tournament was scheduled before the patch. :(

Didn't make it out of my pool but I had fun. Guess I seriously underestimated how bad Ike is. :( One of the highlights of the tournament was Mew2King getting eliminated by a wiimote+nunchuck Megaman.

Yeah, I played defensively back in brawl. Mostly used nair to keep a hitbox out for people to run in to and tilts for ranged pokes. Does Ike have any kill grabs? If not, which is his most useful grab?

Yeah, I have to consider customs since the tournament is using EVO rules. Is close combat the one that goes through the opponent? And I have a vague memory of an "instant" bair technique that Ike had in brawl, is there something similar in smash 4?

Oh, probably should have mentioned that I played Ike in brawl so I know all the basic stuff. Only played 10 hours of smash 4 when it first came out and my wii u was stolen a couple of months later so I don't know any of the smash 4 metagame stuff for Ike. Thanks for the tips though, they are a good refresher.

I'm going to smash'n'splash (tournament in IL) this weekend and plan to use Ike for smash 4. I'm mainly entering for fun but it would be nice to not look like a complete scrub. Any tips, useful videos, or anything else would be greatly appreciated!

Well, I'm not pointing you out specifically. There was another user here that summed up my thoughts. I realize that not everyone thinks that way, it's just more of an unfortunate observation I made while hanging around the vn community. If we are going to argue length then page count would be the best way to go about it. Word count is going to be bloated with conjunctions and flavor text from the translation process. So I guess we'll have to agree to disagree here. I believe that people new to the f/sn universe can watch ufotable's adaptation and get a satisfactory experience without having to read the vn.

How is content from the original story "filler"? Some of the scenes are slice of life but they aren't filler. The western VN community in general is a hive mind; no adaptations are acceptable, just read the vn. I'm fully convinced that ufotable's adaptation is the best that f/sn is ever going to receive, I doubt any other studio could ever come close. Jumping into a VN like f/sn is a huge task, so having a faithful adaptation like this is a godsend for many people.

You do realize that fate/zero is 4 short books compared to thousands of lines of text in UBW? It is impossible for any studio to produce a f/sn adaptation that will please the picky VN crowd, there's just too many events that won't translate over nicely in the anime format. With that attitude you might as well dismiss Heaven's Feel right now because if you think they will cover every single plot point in one movie then lol. You're completely fine just watching the anime, although waiting for the blu rays would give the full experience.

I would suggest waiting for the blu ray episodes since they include all the footage cut from the tv version.
