Might as well make my free pull from Ephraim and Eirika's banner. 3* Wendy: Ugh. Might as well get the one red orb. 3* Hinata: Yay, Fury fodder. Meh. More Fury is nice, but that blue orb really could have been better.

Huh, I really like FE7, so let's do a pull. 3 grey orbs...Damnit. 3* Robin: Again?! 4* Cecilia: Meh. Well, that was useless. Let's try again. 4* Hinata: More Fury fodder. 4* Effie: Eh, already have 2 of you. 4* Est: Haven't seen you in a while. Pass. 3* Cherche: Bleh. 3* Frederick: Luna fodder if I care to use the feathers. That was a waste except for the skill fodder. Maybe I'll pull more later.

Since I'm low on orbs, I'm not going to bother with a full pull here. 3* Subaki: Yay, QR2 fodder. 3* Robin: Ignis fodder. No Ephraim...

Eh, I've already got two Brave heroes, but I'm feeling greedy. Let's try again. 5* Genny: Well, didn't see that coming. +Def/-Res, so mediocre IVs. Still, another 5* healer's always nice. Need to feed her a Lissa for Rehabilitate. 4* Ogma: Meh, no real use for you. 4* Selena: Yay, more Reposition fodder. 5* Brave Lucina: Hah, I knew this would be worth it! She's +Def/-Atk, which leaves me a little conflicted between keeping this one or the free neutral. I mainly need her for tanking, but I really don't like the reduced killing power. I'm probably going to stick with my original neutral. 4* Titania: Eh. I could promote and merge for my first +2 5* unit, but I have better things to feather for now. That went extremely well. Better than I expected, but not as good as I hoped. I did get a new 5*, but Genny isn't a Brave hero, and making my current Brave Lucina +1 isn't as appealing as Brave Roy or Ike. Still, I'm not going to pass up this great gift from Anna.

Time to get started! 4* Leon: Meh. 4* Boey: New unit! 3* Fir: Bleh. 4* Lon'qu: Vantage fodder. 3* Hinata: Fury fodder. Again! 3* Felicia: Ugh. 4* Florina: Got enough of you. 4* Roderick: Could be good SI fodder. 4* Gunter: Eh, I might need Goad Cavalry again. 3* Cecilia: Useless. And again! 5* Brave Lyn: No more colorless hell for me (except the other three here). She seems to be +Hp/-Def, which seems decent. Mostly I'm just glad her bane's not Atk or Spd, which would piss me off. 3* Saizo: Why am I not surprised... 3* Felicia: Damnit. 3* Virion: Not even a freaking 4* unit... 4* Sophia: Eh. So although those last three colorless orbs let me down majorly, I am 55 orbs poorer and one Brave Lyn richer! Got Boey and quite a few good SI units too. Now to go get my free Brave Lucina.

I don't care about getting any particular units from these banners, but might as well make use of the free pulls. From Block A: 5* Celica. Holy crap...Unfortunately her IVs are also crap. +HP/-Atk. Not that her attack was stellar to begin with, but 43 Atk at level 40 is pathetic even with Ragnarok bonuses. At least she's another strong red mage. From Block B: 3* Eliwood. Decided to go for the other two red orbs. Got 4* Laslow and 5* Tharja! Double red mage goodness! She's +Spd/-HP too, so much better IVs than Celica. That was ridiculous. 8 orbs for two 5* units. Now to really save for CYL.

I really shouldn't be doing this, but I've got 20 orbs to spend on trying to pull more Sacred Stones units. 4* Raven: Meh. 4* Gordin: Ugh. 3* Lissa: Rehabilitate. 3* Jagen: Too many of you already. 5* Nowi: Huh, wasn't expecting that. +Hp/-Spd, which makes her incredibly tanky but atrociously slow. Not half-bad, but I prefer Femui the way I've built her. That's 3 5* units from two full pulls on this banner. I'm not testing my luck here any further.

Made a pull from the Blade Banner to take advantage of the free pull. 3* Subaki: Well, more QR fodder is good. 4* Rebecca: Meh. 4* Cain: Meh again. 4* Laslow: Axebreaker's handy. 4* Sophia: Meh. Some decent skill fodder, but nothing of great use.

Well, I managed to do enough Chain Challenges to get 20 orbs. One more time. 5* Ike: Very nice. Not Ninian, but I already have Julia and I don't care about Genny. IVs aren't stellar (+HP/-Def), but they aren't crap either. 4* Wendy: Garbage. 3* Odin: Good skill fodder, but I was really hoping for Ninian. 3* Barst: Reposition fodder. 4* Bartre: Utterly worthless. So I did get a focus unit after all, but with that 6.25% percentage I was really hoping for two 5* units this pull. Oh well, time to stock up on orbs again.

Time for what's probably my final pull from Hero Fest. 4* Soren: Nice, new character. 4* Fir: Maybe someone can use Spd+3. 4* Chrom: No thanks. 4* Athena: Another new unit. Let's see how she does. 3* Lon'qu: This is ridiculous. 4 reds and no 5* unit. I might be able to scrape up the orbs for one last pull, but now I've got a pity rate of 6.25%.

Is that the first quad-5* we've seen here? Congratulations, man.

Managed to gather enough orbs to pull from the Hero Fest again. Need to kill that pity rate. 4* Virion: Bleh. 3* Shanna: Meh. 3* Oboro: Eh. 4* Ogma: New unit! 4* Bartre: Damnit! This is getting annoying.

Time to pull for Sacred Stones units. It was my first FE game, so hopefully the RNG will smile upon me. 5* Tana: Indeed it has! The main unit I wanted from this banner too! +Atk/-Spd like my Lucina, but at least she'll do crazy damage, and her A skill does soothe that bane a little. 3* Florina: Meh. Maybe somebody can use Darting Blow. 4* Sakura: Meh. 3* Henry: I could use his breaker on my 5* Cecilia, come to think of it. 5* Titania: Not Amelia, but damn, double 5*! +Atk/-Def where my current version is +Def/-Hp, so I think I'll be using this new Titania.

Made another pull from Hero Fest, got junk. 3* Hana: Garbage. 4* Palla: Good fodder. 4* Seliph: New unit, but not one I need in the slightest. 4* Catria: Meh. 3* Jagen: Got enough of you. Now I'm down to a measly 10 orbs with the Sacred Stones banner right on the horizon. Time to grind Chain Challenges...

I said I wouldn't, but the Hero Fest is too tempting. The orbs from TT have brought me up to 38, so might as well do another pull. And... 4* Lon'qu: Vantage fodder. 4* Roy: Another one! He's getting used for TA3 whenever I find the need. 3* Saizo: Of course... 3* Beruka: Bleh. 4* Gunter: Finally another one for Hone Cavalry. So no good units, but plenty of good skill fodder. I deem this acceptable.

I've only got 48 orbs right now, but might as well take advantage of the free summon for Hero Fest. Here we go... 4* Arthur: Damn, was hoping for a second Julia. 4* Florina: No Ninian either. 5* Maria: Hey, my first 5* healer to keep Michalis company. She's a new unit too. 4* Klein: Yay, SI fodder. 4* Gordin: Not as good as Klein. Not bad. A new unit and good skill fodder. But that 5% base rate is too tempting... 3* Frederick: You're going home. 3* Shanna: Desperation. 5* Roy: Finally got him, and he's a 5* to boot. +Hp/-Spd though. He might make a decent red tank, but I don't see much use otherwise. 4* Stahl: Meh. 4* Clarine: Meh. So two full pulls, two 5* units that weren't even from the banner. I don't think more pulls from Hero Fest are a good idea.

I already have Gray as a TT bonus unit, but the prospect of getting more powerful mages is too tempting. Time to make use of my free summon. 4* Hana: Wasted free unit... 3* Sophia: Meh. 3* Frederick: Bleh. 3* Serra: Meh. 3* Matthew: Guess he doesn't hate Serra as much as he claims... That was a complete waste. However, I do want one of the mages...Let's go again. I've got 60 orbs to burn. 4* Eliwood: Damn. 3* Stahl: No Celica this time... 4* Cherche: Ugh. 5* Sonya: Yeah, another green mage to join Julia in wrecking shit. +Spd/-Def, so she's quite the glass cannon. 4* Nowi: I was hoping to get another double-5* pull. Oh well. There we go. 40 orbs left, but I don't see myself doing any more pulls for a while.

Well, my free pull from the new banner turned out to be a 3* Lon'qu. I went for the other 4 orbs anyway. Totally worth it... 3* Palla: SI fodder. 5* Cecilia: Hooray, another 5* mage cav to join my newly promoted Reinhardt. +Def/-Res, so okay IVs. 4* Peri: Meh. 4* Wrys: More SI fodder.

I didn't know how this stuff works, and frankly I don't particularly care about the specifics. Still, I'll keep this in mind for future stuff.

Amassed 81 orbs, time to pull from Nohrian Summer. 3* Sully: Meh. 3* Bartre: Useless. 3* Cherche: Okay. 3* Matthew: Hone Spd fodder. 3* Matthew: Ugh, another one. That was a waste. Let's try again. 5* Summer Xander: Oh yeah, another 5* axe unit. +Atk/-Def, so pretty good IVs. 4* Palla: Moonbow fodder. 4* Tharja: Okay. 3* Lon'qu: More Vantage fodder. 3* Clarine: Useless. I'm happy with this. Probably not going to pull from this banner again given I've got plenty of awesome mages already.

While the units in this banner look awesome, I'm not particularly excited by it. I've already got Julia tricked out to the nth degree and she annihilates anything and everything that's blue, including Reinhardt and Delthea. Ninian would finally grant me a good dancer, but I use Femui as my main physical tank, so the two of them overlap too much. Ike's cool, but Xander handles his role well enough. And Genny's a healer that I don't need to waste orbs on. I don't sacrifice 5* units for SI, and I prefer my healers mounted.

Time to try and kill my pity percentages! First Alm's Army. 4* Cordelia: Finally. 3* Shanna: Desperation fodder. 5* Gray: Heh, this game's been nice to me recently. +Res/-Atk though. Let's see how you do. 3* Beruka: Meh. 3* Nino: Meh. Well, I'm happy with that. Now for Celica. 3* Raigh: Damn. 3* Palla: Moonbow fodder. 4* Eliwood: Meh. 4* Peri: Another new character. Nice. 4* Reinhardt: Finally I get the guy everyone spams so much. +Atk/-Res, so pretty good. A pretty good pull. But I'm here to kill my pity percentage. Again! 4* Fir: SI fodder. 4* Stahl: Meh. 4* Lucius: Yay, new character. 4* Gordin: No thanks. 4* Abel: Swordbreaker 3. Pity percentage of 4%. I shouldn't, but I will. Again! 3* Draug: No. 5* Leon: Finally! Another 5* archer. +Def/-Res, so decent IVs. 3* Azama: Meh. 3* Shanna: Desperation. 4* Cordelia: Yay. Spent a total of 160 orbs on these two banners. Can't really say it was worth it, but plenty of new units are always good.

Characters that I like but others don't: Xander: I honestly think Birthright!Xander does the Camus schtick better than most of the others, including Camus himself. The whole point of the archetype is unwavering loyalty to kingdom/king, but in most cases the kingdom/king isn't worth serving at all. To me that makes the Camus completely irrational and not worth much sympathy. Obviously Nohr and Garon aren't worth serving either, but Xander has another reason to be loyal even when he knows it's the wrong thing to do: Nohr is his country in a literal sense. He is heir to the throne, the man expected to rule after Garon dies. If he betrayed Nohr and helped depose her king, his own father, how could he possibly rule them afterwards? There's plenty of flaws with this reasoning (see Guinevere), but I consider it better than the average Camus's. Conquest!Xander's still a huge hypocrite though. Odin, Selena, and Laslow: I've seen a lot of people complain about their presence in Fates, but I thought they were done very well there. The supports between themselves were especially good at playing up the "far away from home" feeling, even if the game doesn't actually explain how they're there... Felicia: Not really any good reasons here. I just find myself fond of her both as a character and as a unit. Lucina: I know she's really popular in the general community, but here on SF she's not so well liked. I appreciate a good "back to the past to save the future" story, plus I find it endearing how she tries to act normal and messes up in a variety of ways. Farina: I've never seen anyone actually say they hate her, but I've only seen a few people ever say they like her. I really like her both as a unit and as a character. On the outside she's a typical money-grubber who's arrogant to boot, but inside she's haunted by her deprived childhood and the lack of sympathy shown towards Ilian mercenaries despite their sterling service. Lyn: I quite enjoy her story, even if she does get shafted later on. Characters that I don't like but others do: Charlotte: Her outfit, her introduction, her base stats, none of it appealed to me whatsoever. Apparently she has more depth in supports, but when her first impression is so bad I don't consider that enough to redeem her. Kent and Sain: I dislike these two more as units, since I've never had a good level-up with either of them whenever I use them in Lyn's story. Gonzales: That skill stat...Axes are terrible enough that having Gonzales use them just makes them worthless.

Thanks for the suggestions. Until I get another Hinata and Abel I'll just go with TA 3 + Swordbreaker 2 + Hone Atk 3, Draw Back, and Iceberg. As for her tome, I'm keeping that more because I have a thing about not getting rid of 5* units outside of merging. It also fits the theme I'm trying to make with the defense team (please don't laugh ): Maidens of Maximum Magical Might.
