  1. Imagine near the end-game where you and your students are facing an (potentially) apocalyptic crisis and you still force them to study and take exams...

I guess the time-reverse ability may be something similar to Mila's Turnwheel, but the cutscene's still too vague to say.

The character models have definitely improved from the first trailer but still look awkward in some places, though I think they've done their best.

  2. IMHO it would take quite some work to improve what we've seen in the trailer into something that looks okay, never mind visually appealing. I don't realistically expect them to change many assets, if at all, in a direction that would suit my taste better, but I at least hope that they would prioritize improving the following things:

    - 3D character models (which also include generics): I know IntSys is aiming for a more stylized look, but the cel-shading technique they're using makes the units look distinctively different and don't blend well with the surrounding environment. The unit models look like they're from a different game entirely and just badly photoshopped in there, especially in that scene where Claude's squad is firing arrows at the robot, the units and their enemy (the robot) are using two different styles. The 3DS games' character models are low quality, but at least they blend well with the environment.  Three Houses' character models also have some weird lighting (or whatever it's called) on their clothes/armors like Byleth's in this picture for example:

    - Resolution:  For a supposed HD game, the blurriness is very apparent even when you play the trailer in 1080p. In the scene where the mage is casting a fireball, you can barely see the caster's and the generic soldier's facial features (and yes, I know they're standing on a higher ground, but that distance shouldn't have made people's faces seem almost non-existent). I don't think FE is the type of game that is so hardware-demanding to the point where you'd have to sacrifice resolution for it to run properly.

    - Animated cutscenes' frame rate: Many people have already pointed this out so I don't have anything to add.

  3. I also like the ominous chanting at the beginning, with what appears to be the FE main theme faintly played in the background (the narration part before the game title appears). On an unrelated note, the chanting actually sounds like Japanese words to me, but I can't decipher it, most likely just gibberish.

As for the song, I don't really have any opinion of it right now, I'll probably have to listen to the full track to decide if I like it or not.

  4. Can't believe I've only noticed this now, but is this the first FE game where the characters (or at least the main ones) have a full name?

Also, Mercedes and Hilda are using generic battle models for some reasons, so they may not be recruitable after all.

I dont know if someone notice but, the designes are less Fanservice than the ones in fates (At least with Eldegard ), and that for me is something interesting.

I know its nitpicking but i liked that

Yes, at least based on the things we've seen so far, which is actually a plus point for me even though I don't like the overall aesthetic of this game.

I think the main character is Byleth, the edgy Marth. Who I'm assuming is the "teacher".

Those three are presumably from the three noble houses.

Not sure if they will be considered "Lords" or not until there's more info. At the least, they are supposed to be important.

I don't think they're from separate noble houses since the emblems on their capes (if you look closely at their portraits) have the same design. The two guys' clothes also have similar patterns, assuming that the three houses have different "cultures".

Gloucester is geographically correct to the southwest of Leicester. Mountains are Necklace of Fodlan, basically Here Be Dragons surely.

Some places that sound like people's names, Matthaus, Gaspard, Dali. Westerns and Eastern Soiries* that seem to not correspond to any geographical feature.

I hope they didn't just put some random names on the world map to make it look more "detailed" after the complaints about lack of world-building in recent games lol.

So the soldier is Dimitri, archer is Claude, the avatar? is Byleth

I'm thinking Edelgard is a pre-promote just because of the variety of weapons she has access to, that being swords, axes and magic, and her HP pool being quite huge

So a pre-promoted lord(?) Hmm, interesting.

  9. Gameplay-wise, there seems to be new(?) indicators: End, Rsl (other than the regular Atk, Avo, Hit, Crit, AS, Rng). Not sure what those could mean.

I'm also curious about those red curve things that connect the player units and the enemies when you select a unit:

Less than 10 minutes to go!! I really hope we don't get Smash'd again. (Pun only half-intentional.)

Also, can I confirm that this is the YouTube link?

    It is.

    Edit: ninja'd

  11. An MP system could serve as an alternative for the RNG-based skill system, in that active skills can be triggered at will at the cost of a certain amount of MP, however it'd have to be implemented differently from standard RPGs so that people cannot simply abuse it to spam skills all over the battle.

If their little insistence that the game will look "beautiful" and that the character models will use more realistic proportions a la Shadows of Valentia is true, then it shouldn't.

If anything, I hope they don't fall into the trap they did with Shadows of Valentia and put more effort into making the game look and sound pretty than into making an actual fun game.

Wait, where did they ever state that?

  13. Nope, I don't like this concept even if it's FE4 version (which actually isn't much better than Fates since the game forces you to play as the second gen whom I couldn't care less about, while killing off most of the first gen), because the existence of biological children technically require a marriage system, which would inevitably include rushed/awkward romance and support conversations. S support (if exist) doesn't necessarily have to be marriage, or even romantic at all.

  14. Theoretically, it could work, and I personally wouldn't object to that. However, I don't see it happening any time soon, if ever. The oldest age range (in appearance) I can imagine is between 25 to 35, but even then the protagonist would still have to look attractive, which is apparently an important factor in the developer's view judging from the established pattern of the series (not just the recent titles).

  15. I always find it jarring that Corrin lets their allies, and even their royal siblings, do all the farming, mining, cooking and managing works for them in My Castle while they're sitting in their room petting their waifu. Go lend your comrades a hand damn it, that is your f***ing castle! And not to mention that's how one would realistically deepen their bond with others: through activities and spending time together, not by inviting them to your room to do "skinship".

It's obvious that the My Room feature was purely for fan-service. If a bonding mechanic is to return, I want the characters to interact via realistic activities: sparring, training, cooking etc. Even if it's done for fan-service and waifu stuffs, at least make proper romantic scenarios where we can at least appreciate the relationships.

  16. Tbh I've always thought that Canto was a bad idea to begin with, considering the sheer advantage that mounted units have over foot units even without it. I think Awakening's Galeforce was an attempt to tone it down a bit, but ended up being even more abusable due to the game's pair up system.

About the healing items, I'm actually more annoyed at their fewer use in Fates than the healing properties (which actually isn't much of a problem imo since I used Vulneraries and Concoctions for the majority of the game). Why do Elixirs only have ONE use in Fates? This makes restocking them a pain. If they wanted to limit us (which is just another kind of annoyance), couldn't they just make its price more expensive?

And what's with the obscenely low use of healing staves in Fates, especially higher-ranking ones like Physics and Recover? Not to mention that their healing efficiency has already been nerfed considerably compared to most games. And some of them even have limited stockings which is just great.
