  1. Alrighty, Chapter 6 time! Replies first though. On to the chapter!
  2. Thanks for the patience everyone, and sorry for the delay. Otakon was great though! A quick note, I think I've found the number that refers to everyone's movement growths in the editor, so I can now post those along with all the other growths when characters are introduced. I'm not 100% certain it's right, but pretty darn sure. At the start of next chapter when we're back with Eirika's gang I'll post all of theirs. Alrighty, let's move on to Chapter 5x then!
  3. Super quick reply before work! Maybe, but I feel like I can't fairly say one way or the other even if it was too far for me. Bias and all, and me thinking Raigh should have been able to save him after all that determination. At least I can keep my happy afterlife head-canon. Don't you dare deny it! Eh, take the compliment! Again, despite depressing me, and being personally disappointed on that regard, I can't say it wasn't super well done!
  4. Once I've got the time I'm hoping 5x won't be too long, though it does have a fair bit of reinforcements...kinda happens a lot in this hack, though maybe not quite to FE6's HM level overall.
  5. On to Chapter 5 now! Next update may not be till next week, since I'll be at Otakon most of the weekend. Till then, thanks for reading and replying!
  6. Eh, I don't have too much of an opinion on that. Still would love to see especially any sort of spear/lance user be in that series. Bittersweet indeed, though not like I'm horribly biased or anything. Can't say I'm not disappointed, though I totally set myself up for it. At least Lugh's legacy lives on in Raigh, especially so since he's the reason he's alive. I'd also like to think he's happy in the afterlife with his parents and Chad. More on that later. True, but I wouldn't complain about it! No argument there. I wish so too Raigh. Y'know, I kind of wanna head-canon that he has kids of his own someday, maybe even twins, and it makes him happy seeing them have the sort of relationship he and Lugh didn't get to have. So on to final thoughts... I really respect the massive amount of effort that went into all the endings here and the extra scenes for many pairs of characters. Regarding everything with Lugh, it was all probably a bit...too much for me to say I enjoyed it. Especially given the nature of his character, already sad backstory (plus Nino's), and age, and much bias given he's my favorite character, it was hard to read him and Raigh basically being the most tortured characters in the story. Raigh's reactions and not being able to save him after being so determined only made it even more heartbreaking (which was totally the point). I of course made it worse on myself by trying to hope he might get rez'd or something, whoops. At least he, in a weird way, sort of got to be awesome still by fighting back enough to save Raigh, and sacrifice himself/take out other Humphrey. Still very sad as a big Lugh fan though, and I just hate seeing the twins tragically torn apart even in an AU. That said, it was all done incredibly well, and I think the fact that it legit tore me up speaks to you doing good with the writing of it. So even if that part of the story was too cruel/dark for my liking, you did a good job with it, and I liked how you write Raigh's character (and most everyone). It actually makes it a little more sad and disappointing for me in that I would have loved to see how you might have written more had Lugh lived in the first place, especially interactions between them. Maybe someday if you ever play Green, or Onmi's big remake/hack of FE6 if that ever finishes (I'll send you a link about that if you've never heard of it). Outside of that, I really liked seeing a lot of the original stuff, particularly seeing some characters get expanded upon or getting extra screen time even in little places here and there. Having now started an LP of my own, I can especially respect all the extra work the writing, doing custom portraits, etc. took. I also now understand how imgur can be super super frustrating sometimes. So overall, even if there are some bits that were a bit much for me and I didn't need that sadness in my life (I never needed to see the possessed/dead Lugh portrait ), hey, it's cause I found this and looking at other ones too that inspired me to start trying my own LP. Speaking of, I really appreciate the replies on that so far and I hope I'm doing okay. Eager to see whatever you end up deciding next!
  7. Alrighty, onto Chapter 4. Which is admittedly a bit of a slog through enemies.
  8. Figured I could answer this real quick. This game's AS formula is as follows. It's similar to Por's, but with Str/2 instead of just Str. So for level 1 Lugh who has 9 speed, it'd be 9 - (1 - (1/2)), which leaves him at 8. I guess they round the fraction down, or it rounds the ending 0.5 up. In retrospect, I guess that can be kinda dumb, but now you know! I...have no idea what I did to make that. And now Serenes isn't letting me edit it, I'll try again later. Thanks for pointing that out though! I'll get to the rest when I do the next chapter!
  9. Another relatively quick update for chapter 3! With that, on with the chapter!
  10. Wasn't there some statement about the game before it released that they didn't want to add all the lords cause it'd be too many sword users? Then they add two OC lords who wield swords. I agree too that Smash could really use more variety in FE characters. And so for the last time I'll continue my likely futile hope for Lugh! Pretty much. He may not be my favorite of FE7's Lords, but Eliwood deserves more love. If only his trial-map Paladin self joined you. Granted, not like this game needs more potential Paladins than seven of them... Haha, well thanks for the reply on that, it's fun reading them! Feel free to lemme know what I'm doing bad/good so far. I've no idea how often I'll be able to do updates once I get back from vacation and chapters get longer, but vacation right now is letting me play a lot. I'll probably keep it going as long as I can get at least a reply or two from people as it goes on. Oh, something I meant to mention back at the Brunja chapter. While the guiding ring she carries probably won't see any use in promoting anyone, I'm guessing, if you can steal it, that it can be a last boost to someone's funds ranking. I'll give IS the benefit of the doubt on this one and guess that was the intent for it, though it could have just been a gem... Yeah, Idunn's boss fight is...really, really underwhelming, though her sprite is cool. The dragon fight in FE7 always felt awesome by comparison. I do wonder if giving her 2, or even 3 range would help much or not. I kind of love there being an actual plot reason for all the recolors, that's rather genius. The horse jumping away sprite is also funny, I'm glad he remembered to keep Horse safe! Or the horse is so used to this by now it's just annoyed every time it has to get away from him transforming. And so here's to the final anticipation/dread waiting for the ending!
  11. First off, thanks to everyone reading and replying so far! Feel free to let me know what you guys think is going well and what I can do better, as I'm still super new to this. I'll go back to the first post and edit in some info for that, and thank you! I just recently saw the RD text where this joke originated from. I should play RD sometime...which means I need to finish PoR first... Well, let's move on to Chapter 1 then!
  12. Definitely wanna see more Binding Blade. Most wanted would be Lugh, and I'd also love to see Igrene, Hugh and Niime to complete some of the families in game added at some point. Would expect Rutger, Dieck, Idunn to be added, maybe before anyone I'd want. Would also love to see some more unlikely characters like Brunja, Gonzales, andJuno and Jerrot. From Blazing would love to see Pent, Louise and Nils, again for family reasons. Would also be cool to see Athos, Nergal, or a morph antagonist or two. Wouldn't mind seeing some more Tellius, as I've just started playing FE9 for the first time.
  13. Hi everyone! Never tried any sort of LP at all, but after being somewhat inspired by seeing some others like Ruben’s I’ve decided I may as well try my own. I’ve been having a lot of fun (and torture) playing through the green/midori hack, a big hack of Sacred Stones that features lots of characters from the series with green hair! It also adds a lot of mechanics from other games, and it’s something I can strongly recommend to those who haven’t tried it, so I figured I may as well try a LP of it and showcase some of the game. On hard of course. So while the translation patch for the hack translates basically everything you need to play it, the story itself isn’t translated. From what I can tell it’s mostly sacred stones with character replacements, though a few chapters here and there are notably different. Having just started messing around with FEBuilderGBA, I had the thought of trying to write in a pseudo-translation/copy-paste of SS script, but that’d be a lot of work and probably a bit much for my first LP. I may try end up trying some small-scale things for this one later, we’ll see. Also, since it was requested, here's the link on where to get the patch! https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3860/ This links to the patch that contains the translation. Note that you game needs to be the FE8J version. The patch comes with two styles, one with only the translation and no changes, or one that has some baked in QoL changes, which is what I'm using in this hack. The download also has a nice little guide with useful info about the game and various chapter, character and skill information. So, let's get on with the Prologue! Thanks for reading so far! I'll try to have the Chapter 1 update within a couple days, and in general I'll try to see if I can do updates at least once a week or two.
  14. Yeah that pretty much killed any hype I would have had for Warriors, and I'm a big fan of the Warriors series too. Seeing Cecilia get some great use makes me really happy. And back to depressing feels I go! Still gonna hold out hope for that last update and brace myself. I apologize for sounding like a broken record, but man, I just pick the wrong characters to get really attached to. After that update I'll definitely have some final thoughts on that part of the story; also remember the end of that was literally my first exposure to this LP. And once again RIP Hugh as well. Beautiful, I got a laugh outta this. Also, I definitely agree with most of your thoughts about this chapter as well. It's really just a long and not too fun grinding of manaketes, though I suppose if you haven't used the legendary weapons much yet it lets you let loose with em a bit, but that's not saying much. Really like the use of the other allies coming in to the rescue at the end. Hi Eliwood! Well just one more update I think to go! On another note, if you're ever looking to do another LP for any of the GBA games, potentially including hacks, you should check out the FEBuilderGBA tool. Just downloaded it last night and it looks like it lets you do a lot of useful stuff, and had text editing as well. So if I get around to an LP of my old 6 hack I might get some use out of that. Thinking of doing Green/Midori for a first LP if I get to it just to see how doing one goes. Will definitely let you know when I start though! You use imgur albums for all your images right?
  15. Yeah that's just...uh....I dunno if there's the right words to describe that. Very true, I guess they were just trying to give you fun toys to play with. But really, having a few of those weapons in-game would have been so much nicer, especially since we're already sparse on some weapon types like Dark. Brave Sword also just feels really weird cause you get every other Brave weapon... Makes sense I guess, good to know you'll read em regardless. Yeah, I've always been happy both Lugh and Raigh were in the top ten, and the comments are a lot of fun like you said. Though even despite his popularity and relations to other characters, I've all but lost hope of Lugh (or any FE6 unit) getting into heroes for a long time after the recent update was Awakening again. Still got my hope for him in here for a few weeks at least...and again, why the heck is Astolfo in freakin 75th? On this update though, not particularly too much to say, but I really like how everything with Brunja was handled. Her portrait edits were great too. Interested in seeing how all this is gonna turn out, and I was wondering when Humphrey was gonna show up again. Also totally get the Vandal Savage reference, though he sticks out to me more from having watched Young Justice than his appearance in JL.
  16. Wow, didn't realize his averages were quite around there, granted being a few points lower in both strength and speed can actually be significant, though probably not much by this point in the game. Good that they weren't needed I guess, but again, happy to help! Hey, it's done you great so far! I'd forgotten about those ones too. At the very least I think a few of them you get from characters in trial maps like the Runesword on Narcian, though that hardly counts IMO. And oh gosh after this update...trying to brace myself for more inevitable depressing feels later. Somehow I had a feeling this would happen when you brought Chad along. But yeah, still holding out my hope for Lugh...which will probably make it worse...question though. After the last actual content update are you gonna keep up replying to people's replies to that for a little? Oh, and I think you might have missed it since I edited it in way later, but you should check out the link I posted at the end of my last comment (though apologies if you did see it). I'll quote it here for convenience:
  17. Good stuff with the pre-battle convos giving a lot of people a little screentime. Was wondering if you were gonna give Niime a followup after what happened with Hugh. And oh Saul. Every time I see Raigh's custom portrait though I get a little depressed again...Still hoping...but c'mon Raigh it's not like Chad's being subtle here. I kinda love the use of all these other units just to tank berserks or do really minor things here and there though. Hmm, good to know. I'll have to try out paint.net sometime since I've used Pixlr for most online photo editing I've done. I also wonder if looking into a better editor for text editing could be another alternative. If I end up doing either randomized or class changed FE6, I feel like it could be fun trying to explain why everyone is a different class or joining at a different point, and a half decent in-game text editor could do that job nicely if that exists. You know, I've always kind of wondered why this game doesn't actually let you obtain a brave sword, but you get the axe/lance/bow IIRC. Also annoying that you can't get Fenrir/Fimbulvetr as well. Yeah, your Roy seems kinda...sad even by his standards, though I don't recall his averages off the top of my head and I'm too lazy to look em up right now. Also, just saw something I think you might enjoy: https://kantopia.wordpress.com/2018/07/07/fe6-7-complete-character-poll-results-and-comment-translations-2004/ Basically it's a translation of a bunch of the japanese comments that went along with the old FE6/7 popularity poll, some of which are amazing when it comes to the bosses in this game. For example, Ohtz is in dead last out of 80 with the only comment being "his sprite is re-used." Also Orlo is at 55, over characters like Lot and Wade, Guinevere, Douglas, Niime, Astolfo (poor him at 75th), and a few more. Here's hoping your luck thus far keeps up into the throne room!
  18. No problem, glad I could help! Before I knew what Nightmare was I'd used codebreaker stuff for a little while to do things like change classes or characters around. Regarding the uses, that was more because I was a little worried on just how exactly the game might treat a 0 uses item or if that might make it not count for some reason. Hooray! Again, still debating if I want to, and if I do then which exact game. Knowing I'd have at least one reader helps though! Also unsure if I'd wanna try to do any level of custom story/writing stuff for it, though probably wouldn't do to the extent you have here, at least at first. Outta curiosity, what exactly do you use for doing the custom dialogue in game style? Just photo-shopping with backgrounds, portraits and text boxes or something else? Glad it looks like Juno and Yoder will survive, especially for Jerrot's sake. Hoping 22 isn't gonna be too bad here coming up.
  19. Man this chapter ended up being rougher than I thought it would. Curious what you've got going on with Juno and Yoder there. Poor Tate, situations like that always make me wish there was a way to cancel a crit or double attack when you know it's probably gonna end up getting your character killed... Lemme see if I can show you the way to do this through codebreaker real quick, it's really easy! I'll be grabbing codes from https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/gba/563015-fire-emblem-fuuin-no-tsurugi/faqs/35138 Let's take chapter 1 Roy for simplicity, also cause Roy is always in character slot 1. Here's his inventory: So assuming you're using VBA, go to cheats, cheat list, and codebreaker from the options in the cheat list. From there we'll grab the code for item slot 3 for character slot 1, and replace the last two digits of the code with the item code for holy maiden/saint's staff which is 77. From there, you need to set uses as well since it defaults to 0, so here's the code for item slot 3 quantity, with 03 as the last two digits for number of uses. And that's pretty much it, so ta-da! Once it's in your inventory you'll wanna deactivate the codes though, since otherwise it'll set that slot permanently as long as it's on. So hey, while this probably wasn't necessary, here's an item adding method if you need it! I'd make a save state beforehand though, just in case. Back on topic, oh geez on the thought of depressing customized endings, not sure if I'm ready for those. Granted things aren't over yet and I'm sure there's still some surprises waiting, and you know my hopes regarding Lugh already. For better or worse (probably worse) I feel I gotta stick around till the end though. At the least, this is having me throw around the idea of trying an LP myself at some point, never done it before but could be fun. Would probably either do Midori, random recruit FE6, or I could go back and finish that patch/hack I was making myself years ago to change everyone's classes & growths and such for 6.
  20. Ah, it does make sense. Can't say I've ever cared too much for Rutger outside of gameplay either. I don't share the same hatred of Clarine, but I can see where you're coming from. She's a weird case in that game. Her stats may be garbage, but in a way she's still good, since she's the only character in the game who can actually gain leadership stars, which she does at a fixed rate. Most characters who have them only have one or two, Aion (the FE7 boss, playable here) has four, Cecilia can get up to seven. So despite bad stats she can be good solely by existing on the battlefield if you deploy her and she's somewhat leveled. She also at least comes with good weapon ranks, can semi-uniquely use both Anima and Light (and swords) as a Valk, and of course can heal. In a way I guess it's...sort of balanced? Since if she had great stats too there'd be no reason to ever not use her. At the very least, there is a translation for the menus, names, items, tooltips/descriptions, and basically everything except the actual story itself. As far as I can tell it's mostly just the Sacred Stones story but with some character replacements, though for some of the more unique/changed chapters I'm sure they're a bit different. In a way would give you stuff to work with if you wanted to do writing stuff like you did with this LP I suppose. You say as he got put through literally the worst, not sure if I've quite forgiven you for that, . Also while RIP Hugh, looks like you had quite a few lucky breaks here and there so far. Only half the chapter and Gale shenanigans to go! Speaking of, do you know if there was ever an accurate reason for why Gale's AI is so wonky sometimes?
  21. While I'm still really holding on to the hope of Lugh getting rez'd or something as I mentioned, at least Cecilia hasn't died! ...Yet! Also, remind me why you hate Rutger again? At the very least, the inflation here feels a bit like just a natural occurrence of the level caps being raised to 30 (and higher bases), at the very least to me feels pretty well done as opposed to going crazy high for the sake of it. There are definitely still some units with just garbage stats like poor Cecilia though, who has almost the same bases she does in 6 and AFAIK bad growths. At least she has the boon of gaining leadership stars. Still strongly recommend it, though the idea of a blind ironman sounds absolutely horrifying. This got me curious actually. Lugh starts with a base 5 def in that game, and Sage promotion gives +3 (Mage Knight gives +2), so he gained 7 levels of defense over...58 total level ups. Which means if I did my math right he was actually below average by 1 if he has the same 15% growth he does in FE6. By contrast my current one has gained 15 points in 32 levels... Agreed, I've always really liked the player phase music here. Oh this brings back bad memories of one playthrough. Map was going great, everybody getting great level ups, then Elen gets 1 shot by one of these punks who had a pretty low hit chance. Keep at it! I feel like this Chapter was always worse than 22 and 23, so it should be the last huge hurdle. Depending on who survives it anyways. And there's only 5ish chapters left? 21, 21x, 22, 23 and however you consider 24 and final which are more tedious than hard.
  22. Thanks for the clarification! Hooray for suspense! Funny note with Lugh and defense...this is my current level 30/4 Lugh in the midori playthrough I mentioned... Absurdly Def blessed Sage is quite handy! I'm pretty sure his growth in it is still bad too, if my first playthrough was anything to go by (had 15 at 30/30). Also for all the times I've played FE6, I'm not sure I've ever done Sacae more than once. Maaaaybe twice. I really should try it on HM someday, which seems really scary. I also barely ever do B route with 10/11, I'm not even sure I've ever actually leveled Elphin before come to think of it. Looking forward to Chapter 21!
  23. Ugh the aftermath scene with Raigh just killed me (again). Good stuff with Juno/Jerrot too, I've always had a soft spot for those two. Hope so! Like I said, I probably shouldn't but I'm seriously hoping Lugh can be rez'd or saved somehow in the end cause all that's just too depressing/cruel for probably my favorite character in the series. I'll say, . I'm curious to see what you would have done to expand the twins interactions had he lived though. Speaking of, if you're looking for something to play when this one is done, you should check out the green/midori hack of FE8. It's mostly really well made and adds a bunch of mechanics from other FEs as well, though it can be pretty difficult. I'm going through it on HM right now (along with an FE6 random recruit HM), and it has Raigh, Lugh, and Nino too among the cast. You get both Raigh and Lugh super early as well. From 6 there's also Bors, Lance, Wolt, Cecilia, Dieck, Tate, I probably missed it if you talked about it earlier, but are you gonna be able to get to 21x? Doesn't Zeiss have to be alive for that?
  24. Just stumbled upon this, and it's definitely entertaining. Really sad Lugh (my favorite, along with Cecilia and Raigh) got thrown through all the worst stuff though with dying, getting possessed and now dying again. And poor Raigh losing him multiple times and failing to save him after trying so hard. Maybe he can still find some way to save or resurrect him like Bramimond did.
