  1. Hello folks,

    Yes, it’s that time of year again. The event that we’ve all been waiting/procrastinating for, it’s the tenth annual FEE3.

    For those of you who are new, FEE3 is a fan game convention that brings together hobbyists who work on Fire Emblem-related projects to showcase our collective progress and new initiatives. Back in the dark days of 2011, when it seemed like the series’ days in the west might be over with the lack of an English translation of FE12, Fire Emblem hackers decided to band together and host our own E3 to celebrate the work that goes into the fan game community.

    Ever since then, we have continued this tradition each year. Last year, we had 44 projects from a wide variety of different platforms!

    All projects are welcome and encouraged to participate. This event is meant to be inclusive. However, hacks that contain offensive and/or inflammatory content may be subject to disqualification based on the review of the event organizers.

    Volunteer LPers:

    The event organizers will assist with making arrangements for Let’s Plays of submitted projects. However, participants are encouraged to make their own arrangements if possible. But in order to pull this off, we’ll need some volunteer LPers to participate in the show and host demo showcases. If you are interested in volunteering, please let me know!

    FEE3 Timeline:

    If you are planning on requesting the event organizers to arrange a recording to showcase your project, you must submit a patch with a save file for the chapter you wish to demo no later than August 31st.

    All submissions should include instructions on what chapter you want the LPer to demo and explain if there is anything in particular that you would like the LPer to highlight.

    If you are recording your own submission, the video must be received no later than September 14th.

    I don't know if someone already report this but, when you pair Erk and Nino in Pent's tale it results in Yoder appearing instead of Nino but when you finish the chapter the game crashes, I've finished Pent's tale before but it only hapens in this situation aparently.

    The Yoder part is intentional, since Nino is in the starting party. I will investigate the ending event error. Thanks for reporting!

    Yes, you need to complete all eight of the initially unlocked tales to access Zephiel's.

  3. We had an unprecedented number of entries this year, so my apologies. Next year, we'll give more time for recording. Traditionally, that has been enough time for the LPers. With a high number of volunteers, I thought it would be fine. We had some people get assignments and then drop out for unforeseen reasons, which complicated things.

    Part of the reason we started the show and back-loaded the unfinished content was to give people a longer period of time, up to 18 days, to fulfill their commitments. Obviously, that still hasn't happened for some of the entries.

    We will regroup and see where we're at tomorrow. I'm just going to go ahead and record anything that isn't submitted to me by 5pm PST when I get off of work. This show isn't going to fall through, not on my watch. This is the first time we've had any hiccups in eight years, and as much as I would've liked to keep that streak going the least I can do is make sure that everything we promised gets delivered.

That's not set in stone or something, I can always change my mind, but at this point, it is at best a low-priority thought. If enough people knock on my door requesting new animations, then yeah I suppose.

    I would suggest completing it as a "vanilla" rewrite, and then making an alternative version that adds new things. So that way people can choose if they want the original or enhanced experience, and you simultaneously please the purists and the people who want added features.

    The show will kick off on October 27th.

    We've had a tremendous turnout so far, with almost thirty projects either submitted or confirmed to be making an appearance. It's going to be the biggest FEE3 yet!

    I'm gonna be doing an interview for FEE3 tomorrow. I figured I would open the floor for fans to submit their own questions about EN. If you have anything you'd like to ask me, feel free to submit your questions by replying to this topic.

    Also, I started working on some revamps to Hector's Tale and probably some other more gameplay changes to follow.

    Ok so on Ravens Story Pt. 2 when you face Arcard and choose not to surrender, and kill Arcard, you will see a cut scene and and then then it just repeats itself, after that your characters will disappear and Arcard's health will regenerate, then enemies spawn near the castle but then the turn ends and they disappear, and it just keeps repeating , it's relly wierd, I didn't use any cheats or nothing every time I kill Arcard it glitches, 

    I literally just fixed this, sir. Try the latest patch.

    If it helps I  patched a clean original version of FE7 (US), I also used NUPS patching program to apply it to my ROM, I really don't know whats going on. I believe I have the latest version but I would really like to know more.

    SOrry, but I'm going to need more details. What was happening in the chapters around the time of the glitch? The more context you can provide, the better. "Hey things broke" is not very helpful for debugging.

    Yes, only bosses have the FE4 style counterattack. I wanted to do this to make things more challenging with stationary bosses like Khitan and Montresor. It has been this way for a little while, and should've been included in beta 2.

    Well, this particular screen cap is from an earlier patch, but I checked out that specific knight, and his sprite still uses the lance animation, despite his weapon acting like an axe.

    Thanks for the report! These issues will be resolved in the next patch (I just finished fixing them).

    This should be fixed in the latest patch. What happened was the disassembled version of my event files omitted a critical piece of code that runs after every chest opens (I lost my source a while back due to a laptop theft and had to work off of what EA could generate). This code counts the number of chests that have been opened, and through moving data around that code was overwritten after making changes to the chapter's events. I've tested it and it does work now.

    As for not being able to crit bosses, I've got a crack investigator looking into the issue as we speak.

    So, I took this cap after Fargus got crit and killed the turn after he appeared. Instead of his death quote (whatever that is) it had Rebecca's death quote from FE7, except her portrait changed to a glitchy Lowen. That isn't the major part. The major part is that Fargus' death led to a victory. He was the final boss all along!

    Thank you for the report! It will be fixed in the next update (as in, I've already fixed it but haven't made a patch since doing so).

    -In Guy's Bonus Tale, Karel doesn't have a mini portrait.

    -In The Archsage's Pupil, the thief reinforcements have steel swords, but they have E rank in swords.

    -In Astor's Bonus Tale, Astor has a generic palette.

    -Zephiel's Tale doesn't work.

    -In Kent's Tale, the green Paladin has a Silver Poleax he can't use.

    -In Ivory Flower of Light, (part 2) Legault can still use the "Door" command after the door gets destroyed.

    -In Karel's Tale (map 1) and Legault's Tale (part 2), in cutscenes, Everett's portrait is used by an enemy general, who I assume is Montresor.

     

     

    Most of these issues should be addressed in the most recent update.

    It's still a work in progress, but thank you everyone for your reports! I'm keeping a list of every issue that people have mentioned and am slowly but surely working through it. It's a great help to have multiple sets of eyes looking at the project for errors, and hopefully we can get this thing finished by FEE3 or at least by the time the show airs.

    This is on ch1 of Jerrot´s tale, Wallace-Sain conversation. Also, the Wallace Talk command with Sain only appeared after recruiting Sykes with Jerrot.

    Poor me, hahahah.

    The truth is, I couldn't be happier with what our community has become. If it seems like I'm "getting left behind", it's by design. My goal was always to bring together the best and brightest and do whatever I could to bring out the best in them. All of these new pioneers are my friends, and I'm so proud of what my colleagues been able to accomplish in such a relatively short period of time.
