    Elibean Nights

It's moreso that I would want to work in a member of the FE7x cast as a central character following up on one of the storylines that have already been established in EN. A lot of the plot details are manufactured, yet I try to derive from the official source whenever possible. There are a number of references to details of FE7x's plot peppered throughout the game already, so I don't think that a tale starring a 7x character would be too much of a leap of faith. Yeti, Myke, and I have collaborated sporadically on a "shared fancanon" of sorts for years. Fargus was just a "hey this would be fun to make" idea. I'd considered giving Eliwood the Charisma skill, yes. Demoiselle isn't necessarily a priority for me; I'm not a fan of gender-based skills, they've always felt to me like more of a cop-out than a creative concept. Yeah, idk about that Rath skill. The basic 7x skills setup will definitely improve the gameplay in Karel and Lyn's tales, I'm hopeful that the conversion will be a unilateral improvement without much modification (I'd rather build my own distinct layer on top of what already exists, rather than reinventing the wheel that Yeti and Myke have worked so hard to fine-tune). The 7x rankings feature is one thing that I'd always dreamed of adding to Elibean Nights. It always felt like it would be a natural extension of the gameplay experience, given the non-linear structure of EN.

If anyone wants to help brainstorm, this is what I've got currently in my design doc. Eliwood - Merlinus - Hector - Capture - You all should know what this does. (maybe add an achievement for capturing both bosses?) Lyn - Rath - Commando - Terrain def bonus added to dmg and *1.5 for def; same with terrain avo and hit/avo. Kent - Pent - Prestige - Grants unit the ability to achieve multiple S-ranks. Louise - Raven - Priscilla - Karel - Bloodlust - Adds (Max HP - Current HP)/4 to dmg. Jerrot - Stalwart - Adds Wgt/2 to dmg when enemy initiates attack. Legault - Hurricane - Avo/Dod +20 when enemy initiates attack. Zephiel - Charisma - All units within a 3-tile radius receive +10 hit/avo.

Of course, I'll be using FEXNA's skills system and adhering to its mechanics. I'm also considering doing some sort of "personal skills" (ala Fates) for the main character of each tale. Following up on something I'd been doing with EN recently, I'd also like to add some type of formal system for handling equip-able items (like the stat boost items, Iron Rune, Delphi Shield, etc.). One thought was to add an "accessory slot" that you can only change/remove when moving the unit, or to treat "hold items" (what I'd been calling them) with a special indicator and have the game process the first one in the unit's inventory (although that could be more susceptible to trade abuse). Never.

I know that BwdYeti has discussed the possibility of android/IOS ports in the past, so we'll cross that bridge when it comes. It's always nice to be able to take these games mobile, after all. Until then, I'll be focusing on my return to development with FEXNA. I want "Elibean Nights: Final Draft" to be better than anything I could have accomplished with a ROM hack. It's always been something of a sandbox, an ongoing experiment -- now, I've got a fully-equipped laboratory. I'm hoping to add more achievements, more bonus content, and a codex (among other things). Perhaps I might even create a few new maps to play. Igrene's Tale still needs to be completed, and I had work-in-progress concepts on a small story for Astor. There's also the possibility of doing a sea chapter starring Fargus (maybe I could even add a Kraken boss or something?), and a story fleshing out the relationship between Athos and Nergal has also been considered in the past. It might be interesting to write a tale starring one of the FE7x cast members, as a homage to Yeti and all of the assistance he's given me with resurrecting EN. Wouldn't want to get too crazy with adding new tales, but it'd also be a nice way to inject some new life into the project. As always, the floor is open to any ideas. I've recently acquired a replacement laptop (after maxing out a credit card in the process, lulz; hopefully that rental insurance check comes through soon enough), and I'll begin experimenting with FEXNA in earnest once I manage to get an internet connection in my new apartment.

Yup. I also suspect, when all things said are done, that I won't be the only developer to make the "conversion" either.

    Elibean Nights

Hey everyone, It's been a hell of a last couple months -- culminating in this hellish week, my family's house was robbed the day before I'd planned to move out into my own little apartment. The thieves took two guns, $400 from my little brother's cash stash, a New 3DS (with my copy of Smash), and, most importantly of all, the laptops that belong to my brother and I. That laptop contained all of EN's source code, and the most recent ROMs. I'm typically fairly careless when it comes to backing things up, and it's bitten me in the ass several times throughout the years. The most recent version of Elibean Nights that I've been able to uncover dates back to October, when FrenchFroodle LP'd the hack for FEE3. I've decided to release a patch of that version. It is still incomplete, with the last four months of my work essentially taken. Here's the download link for the most recent patch. Trust that I still have every intention of finishing Elibean Nights, but those efforts have suffered a significant setback. Unfortunately, the event source posted to GitHub is largely outdated, and disassembling the events would be a messy endeavor -- losing that source code means that there is no easy answer to the question of "how to move forward." This is all rather unfortunate, and I am still grappling with this tumultuous time in life. Just know that I am safe and finally living happily on my own. Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed to the development of this project. For several years now, it has been a labor of love -- and the support that I've received from my colleagues and fans has been absolutely invaluable. From the ashes of what once was, new opportunities arise. Stay tuned.

  8. They should've just stopped after Takumi shot Corrin in the face with his arrow. That was the most satisfying possible ending until the "power of friendship" and heaven and what the fuck ever because this game trivializes scripted deaths for cheap shock value.
  9. This hack must be super rare because it definitely does not exist.

Are you ready to enter the danger zone!? Credit to circleseverywhere for this awesome piece of hackery. Before being introduced formally in FE11, the "Danger" command was actually a feature in the debug ROMs of FE7 and FE8 (and hell maybe FE6 too, who knows?). I've always had a hunch that the data was still leftover in the final version of the game, and it turned out to be true. The "Danger" feature is now mapped to the previously useless select button. You can download the Enemy Range Display Hack over at FEU.

Because Rebecca eventually realizes that Lowen's a doof and leaves him for Wil anyways. Thanks for the report, will investigate. A new system for handling effectiveness was recently implemented, so that weapons like the Cleave Bow could do x3 to Armors and x2 to Fliers (like a standard bow). I'll have to go back and look over the installation again. I super appreciate the help! Fixed that up in the event source. Thanks for pointing that out.
  13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGuDPKH81IM A thing for FEE3.
  14. No, it's just a prologue event sequence that simulates an opening. I'll probably just dummy out the FE7 one. I think it's the same place?
  15. And people accuse me of "gender-bending," lol. I don't really know/care at this point, I'm just glad that the opening cutscene is complete because ugh CG insertion is time consuming.
  16. Here have a teaser of the teaser that's coming out on Sunday If it's a class that needs an oc yeah

  18. Yeah I'm not sure what the shape in the logo is supposed to be. It'd better not be Fates-related, lol.

So, ideally, you'd like Raven to survive the alternate ending, right?

For the record, I was killing off FE7 characters before HBO made GRRM popular. I'll add an alternate ending, but I can't promise that you'll like it any better than the original.
  21. I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised to see that people were still hyped for this after the topic had been locked for so long. So, I figured I'd share my timeline and release goals for the next year or so. But first, I've got to give a massive shout-out to my assistant, Ash3wl, who has been helping me tremendously by drafting the first drafts of chapter events. These projects are a massive undertaking. At this point in my life, with a full time job and limited time to devote to game development, I simply cannot "go it alone" on the dev side of things like I was able to for the large majority of Elibean Nights. Creating a commercial-length game such as Exalted Legacy simply wouldn't be possible without Ash's assistance. Just wanted to thank him publicly, and make sure everybody knows what an integral role he's playing in the development of this project. There's also a small writing staff that's helping me with editing and various text, and, of course, my heart goes out to all of the talented artists who've helped fulfill the project's spriting needs. Y'all are great. My current release goals are: - Release up through Ch10/10x by 12/25/15. - Release up through Ch16/16x by 8/31/16. Understand that I call them "goals" for a reason, because I've learned that ROM hacking is unpredictable and oftentimes messy. I don't like making promises that I can't be assured I can keep, but it's also good to have self-imposed goals like these to keep things chugging along. But also I gotta finish Elibean Nights real quick brb.
