  1. I like how they implimented skills on enemies, but I think we need a FE9/10 limit on skills besides the five slots, just because not all skills are created equal, and they really shouldnt be treated as such. That really applies more to the player than enemies, though, so long as they are balanced properly, so yeah, Conquest works well enough.
  2. If you don't mind using the dlc classes, Xander as a Lodestar pretty much becomes the best unit in the game. It fixes his biggest problem (speed) through the dancing blade and speed taker skills along with a slight increase to speed growth (I think) and doesn't really hurt too much else besides movement. Xander has consistently been my best unit in any run I use him (even better than Ryoma) because as a Lodestar he is tank, fast, and has no penalty 1-2 range. If you aren't using dlc classes, he indeed is just a pretty good tank and is kinda killed by his lower speed, but... yeah. I've found Leo to be terribly average every time I've used him, usually I'll bring home to the end game but he ends up being one of my weaker units. Camilla is kinda like Leo in that she feels really average, but is simply better. She will consistently be a solid unit, though you're better off making her a Wyvern Lord IMO, because her magic stat is pretty lackluster. Ryoma is really good. I'd say he's much better than Paladin Xander but a bit worse than Lodestar Xander. Swordmaster Ryoma and Lodestar Xander serve a similar purpose, except Xander has more def. Ryoma tries to make up for that with good avoid, but that just means some bad RNG will kill him easily. He is still better than pretty much everyone else, especially in Birthright
  3. I think the best way to handle an FE movie would be to make an entirely new story and simultaneously make the game and the movie to be released somewhat near to each other (probably the game first). I feel like movies based off games and games based off movies have a much harder time, and so if they were made at the same time, it would be easier to ensure that nether is screwed over in the process. A Fire Emblem movie probably would work, but the formula for making a movie is much different than what the standard FE game is, as the games are full of side characters and filler chapters, which would have to be cut down on for a movie. If they don't go with this, then I feel like a two-part Genealogy movie duo would be best due to their heavy focus on politics (so that it isn't just constant fighting for the film), as well as its overall solid story
  4. I think the biggest thing was that people got used to the Japanese voices first, which led to a sort of thought like, "OK, this is what these characters should sound like". The English voices were quite different, and I think a lot of the ones that were bashed the most initially were those that had the most dramatic changes, like Felicia for example. Now that we have gotten more used to the English voices, any criticism is less shock and more real opinion
  5. Lol. This is the fourth path
  6. In addition, there are a lot of people who probably don't have all or even most of the children units, and since it is restricted to them, they would have to go in with only a few units. Especially the people that only have one route and dont even have access to all the children. For story based DLC they essentially have to use the pre built teams
  7. My friend introduced me to emulation in like 6th grade. Shortly after, I was browsing ROMs online (didn't know it was illegal then) and saw FE7. I thought "Hey, that's the series that those guys from Smash Bros are in" and I downloaded it. Fell in love during the first battle. Started playing FE7 and FE8 simultaneously. Then my emulator or computer or something stopped working for whatever reason (it probably could have been fixed but I had even less of an idea than I do now of how computers work) and I was Emblemless for several months, but they always stayed in the back of my mind until I finally grew restless enough to want to order one online. I ordered SS and played from there. Fast forward a bit and I found out about translation patches and stuff and played FE6 and FE4 (Like I said, I sucked with computers and it took me several hours to figure out how the patches worked), and just continued to branch out from there. Now, I have played and beaten every game besides 5 (lost my save data like 3/4 through) and 1+3 (because they have remakes that are mostly the same but better).
  8. I did I no reset run of randomized FE7 at the same time as my friend to see who could get the better rating. I won. But I cheated like three or four times. So no, I havent done a real no reset run. Also lets hope he doesn't read this post at any point
  9. Update: I just now scanned Lucina for the second time on my Conquest hard run and got the butterfly mask. This is the first time this has happened however, and I went back to all 3 of my older files to make sure. They all had two bear hats and no butterfly mask, but for some reason I got the butterfly mask this time. I have no idea why this is the case Edit: So this time I also scanned my other amiibo and got a second Marths Tiara, Robins Books, and Ikes Pauldron. This time Lucina was the only one to not give a duplicate. I am puzzled
  10. I didn't notice this until just now when I was browsing the Accesory Shop page on the main site, and saw that you get the butterfly mask accessory from the Lucina amiibo. I have been using all four of the FE amiibos in Fates, but whenever I scan Lucina, I only ever get bear hats. I always thought it was odd how Lucina was the only one of the four to give the same accessory twice, but I now see that was not what was supposed to happen. I have used the amiibo on multiple save files, and this has always been the case for me, where Lucina gives me a bear hat both of the first two times I scan her, regardless of which option I pick first. Has anyone else encountered anything like this, and does anyone know why this might have happened?
  11. The biggest issue right now, IMO, is that the fanbase is divided clean in two right now. After Awakening, they saw how older fans generally had problems with a lot of things, but it drew in a boat load of new fans, so they were conflicted on whether to return to their roots or appeal to the new masses. Their solution was to do both. I'd be willing to bet that the whole split-routes idea was invented out of need to solve this problem, not out of desire to fit the story or anything like that. They made two games: One to appeal to older fans, and one for newer ones. My hope, and possibly even the hope of IS, is that this will help to close the gap between these two groups, with newer fans trying out Conquest and seeing how fun it can be and older fans realizing that easier isnt all bad. However, I doubt that this assimilation will occur that quickly, so that, to me, is the biggest question about the next game. Will they split it again? Will the paths be a bit more similar? I feel as though they wouldnt want a complete split again, lest it become the new norm. That would be way too much work to do every thime they wanted to put out a new installment. I feel as though they could just add settings to choose between Birthright-esque or Conquest-esque gameplay. I'm sure the gap would eventually close, and a balance will be found, but I predict the fanbase will be divided for at least one more game. The biggest thing is really for them to work towards that balance between the complex gameplay and the accessible gameplay, the old features and the new features.
  12. If Conquest had better motivation, it would be the perfect FE game for me. As it stands I just.... Can't understand why they Corrin or anyone would think this is the best way to get peace. Besides that though, Conquest is much better to me.
  13. Well to justify being on console over handheld the console would have to be able to do something that the handheld cannot. This is the reason we see 3D Zelda games on console and top-down on handheld. With Fire Emblem, There isn't a whole lot they could add if the game was put on console besides fancier graphics, but i feel like the style on 3DS is pretty good, or it at least works for everyone. There honestly isn't a huge reason to put FE on a console at the moment, as the basic engine has stayed fairly simple through the years, remaining as 2D sprites on a map with some fancy battle animations. Compared again to Zelda, which started on the same system as FE, FE simply hasn't evolved its system to the point that makes it necessary to be on a more powerful system. Not saying that it's impossible or that it shouldn't happen, but i don't see a huge need to put it on console.
  14. I made Xander a lodestar and he pretty much became my best unit next to my avatar. He already had the power, and the speed made him able to kill just about anything in one round. Also it isn't as if Xander gets much uses from lances anyway
  15. I'd really say they did more right than wrong while making Fates. Like everyone says, gameplay is top notch, plus there are a multitude of options for all skill levels, and the harder options are more than just "There are more enemies and they are tougher". Character wise, I am of the opinion that they are better than Awakening overall. The biggest issue with Awakening's characters for me was that every one of them was pretty much a living gimmick most of the time. They had some moments, but with Fates, there are some gimmick characters and some that feel a bit more real. Better balance IMO. Plot wise, I'm just about done with Conquest and just a bit into Birthright, and while there are some moments that make me question things, I like the overall plot. It's pretty consistent too, unlike Awakening's multiple story arcs. I feel like most of the hate is just people overreacting. Like the whole face petting thing, where it stirred up so much controversy for them cutting a "major feature" when in reality, even if it wasn't changed, takes up such a small part of the game that it doesn't matter too much. Hopefully people will come around
