  1. One I really like (that isn't really supported by canon, especially the localisation) is that if an F!Avatar marries Arthur, Percy and Kana are twin brothers. Percy is adamant that he is the older one, so he does his best to protect his "little" brother and being the macho man compared to Kana's docile mama's boy schtick. It's not really supported by the fact that Kana is a literal ten year old and Percy can enter "adult" relationships in the localisations, but I like it all the same.
  2. Ahhh, gotcha. My bad then! Looking forward to that!
  3. I don't think parents get new conversations amongst themselves? It's purely kid-centric. Unless you meant something else, of course. The only thing I don't like about this DLC is no sibling supports oh and no Little Cheese CG
  4. I momentarily forgot about Finn, but yes. He barely ages save for a new mullet and can potentially be the father of any of the G2 units barring the storyshipped ones (Leonster siblings, Seliph, etc.) All it would take is to create a new customisable character, putting them in a role akin to Finn, and letting them be the parent OR spouse of any of the G2 kids. *shudder* now that it's seeming plausible, I'm starting to regret the discussion.
  5. Inb4 FE4 remake where Avatar replaces Sigurd but survives Belhalla due to his strong will and overwhelming desire to bang his friends' nubile children.
  6. She's markedly smaller than other portraits, as well, for some reason. Most portraits are simple busts but hers goes down almost to her waist. The dark black outlines around her arms also sticks out like a sore thumb to me. EDIT: Ninja'd lol
  7. Another reason I don't think they'll do a timeskip even though I love FE4 RIP remake is because it means that if there are no substitute characters there's the issue of time limits on S/A rank supports in order to get the kids, which could lead to Chapter 11 Chrom automarry shenanigans, and would also mean a potential Avatar character doesn't get their pick of the lot and we know we can't have anything that puts the player's marriage candidacy at risk!!!!
  8. I'm not sure he counts as a purely comical character, but Saizo in his supports cracks me up. I couldn't love the guy more if I tried. Other than him, Arthur. I mean c'mon. It's Arthur. And Niles, Odin and Leo work so good as a comedy trio. My favourite liege+retainer combo hands-down.
  9. Hectic. Thanks for the help! Felt like an idiot when I saw the translation thread.
  10. So they're generic? Lame. Thought they'd pull a Future Past with this one since we didn't get that in Memories of Foam.
  11. Hey there! So I have the DLC at home, but won't have access to it at least until the weekend, so I was wondering if anyone with the DLC/ who has played through it a little more thoroughly than I already have (a quick run-through using mostly non-kid characters) could answer a question for me. I know that the kids you take have conversations with the Avatar if you are their parent (or at least Gurei/Asugi did) and they also have conversations with their non-variable parent, but do they also have conversations with their non-Avatar, variable parent? And if so, are these generic, including those with the Avatar? Much obliged.
  12. I have very mixed feelings about the kids. On a very general scope, I dislike them. None of them really stand out to me (ok, I love Little Cheese but thats different), especially in terms of comparing them to Awakening's. 90% of them are so forgettable and boring I usually only use them for paralogue grinding in Conquest. I mean, I really wanted and tried to like Kana but he's basically a "cuter" Morgan 2.0 who has no reason to be as Mama-crazy as his counterpart and has literally no personality outside of this. At the very least the Awakening children has personality and presence IMO, perhaps due to the story shenanigans which made them kinda relevant or perhaps due to the fact that there were just less of them altogether, but in Fates they just don't sit well. In terms of plot, they are an absolute shoehorned mess that I'd rather pretend doesn't exist. They have no plot relevance and only serve to make the world even more contrived than it already is - which is a feat. It's very obvious that they're just in there because of Awakening's popularity and I think that can be said of a lot in Fates, which may have benefited a little more from being developed in more of a vacuum. However, I do like the idea of children. I absolutely adore the ideas of G1+G2 presented in FE4 and I loved the kids in Awakening and expected them to at least improve on them in this game. I'd love a full-blown timeskip in the next game, however I'm not confident IS is willing to take the risk of isolating the more fanservicey, player-catered aspects of these past two games by killing off/aging up G1 characters and restricting marriage. I don't really want a timeskip if all it yields is an Avatar character who magically doesn't age and can marry the kids of their fallen/aging allies. EDIT: I would, on the other hand, like a timeskip where perhaps you can create your own child (maybe with a fixed hair colour so your spouse is acknowleged?) IF the Avatar aspects remain (which I'm quite certain will, given now they're kind of moving towards it being a staple of the series.) But again, I'm also confident that it will never happen.
  13. Yes! This is important. I've also found Hard mode skirmishes pretty manageable but that may just be my ridiculously inflated favouritism units.
  14. I've found it's better an less of a hassle to just grind on (provided you're at Ch.27) one of the final maps which gives all or nearly all level 20 enemies. You get surprisingly a lot of experience from these regular enemies, and I find I'm gaining at least 3-4 levels per map I do! Just take two or four characters, pair them up, and then let them fend off the enemies an you'll find they're getting decent exp an levels. Boo Camp is better for individual exp gain but you have to work for it. If your units are good enough, you should be able to fare well on the high level maps. One that I use on Revelation is the .
  15. I think it's worth buying just because its the 'definitive' route. The story and gameplay aren't stellar (particularly towards the end; otherwise, gameplay can be pretty fun) but you get (almost) every character and the freedom to play however you want.
  16. I would probably go Effie/Azama (although Effie!Percy is pretty damn good) and Nyx/Hayato, but not too sure for Rinkah. Her supports with Ryoma are pretty good but you could just as easily do that on Birthright, so you might want to take advantage of her supports with Benny. For Asugi, it really depends on what type of unit you want. Orochi gives you a pretty fair magic Asugi, while Kagero will give you an Asugi more geared towards the physical.
  17. To make this story element mesh better in my head, I just HC that I also HC that Camilla and Ryoma's supports don't suck and the brunt of their relationship as it takes place between A and S. That the kids are all just a pipe dream and actually happen in the aftermath of the war sans Babyrealm. That the Awakening kids don't actually look identical to their counterparts.
  18. Wasn't expecting to like Saizo, and now I can't really go a BR/Rev plathrough without marrying the guy. Another one would be Charlotte, who is now one of my favourites. Many people would say she's best as a pairup bot but I made sure to pour just enough favouritism into her to get her hitrate and defense up to MVP status. And I guess I've got a thing for Shura as well which is weird because I'm usually not drawn to most Kamui/Robinsexuals, and it would be even stronger if he gave Kana black hair instead of white.
  19. Had a similar experience recently. Sent my Avatar + Saizo husband pairup into the arena. ~70% chance of hitting the enemy (can't remember what class it was), but it had a similar hit rate against her. Had Nohrian Trust on so proc'd Saizo's lethality first round. Missed. Enemy got a critical and took her down to half health. Proc'd his Astra next turn. Hit 3 times for a pitiful amount of damage. Enemy got her down to very low health. Finally, proc'd her own Rend Heaven. Missed. Enemy gets yet another crit and kills her. Saizo had been contributing some damage but he's not exactly a powerhouse. Needless to say, I lost those Crystals.
  20. This sounds more lethal than the Eurovision drinking game. I have to do it. Yes. Conquest's story is bad. Nothing makes sense and Corrin is wrong for paying for it picking them and all that wonderful language. I'm glad that people are playing it for themselves now and seeing that the flaws are valid but I feel like we've already had this discourse 1000 times over on this forum.
  21. Even if what you say is true, there's one thing you didn't mention there: gameplay. And God forbid someone criticise a game and engage in discourse about its weaker points while simultaneously enjoying it for what it is. Geez man, you're acting like in order to like a game you have to absolutely love and accept everything about it. On-topic, however, I gotta add that I love certain parts of a lot of designs while disliking others. I love Camilla's face and hair, for example, but her armour design befuddles and frustrates me. I love Ryoma's armour and colour scheme, but his hair and slightly overdesigned flourishes are a bit too much for me. I like Azama's design, except his hair (seriously, what shampoo does most of Hoshido use?). The list goes on.
  22. I like the game and all, but tbh I'm kind of hoping they take the criticism to heart so they can reshuffle and really figure out what they're doing for the (hopefully) next one. As good of a game as it is, I want them to work out the little kinks (no pun intended) here and there when it comes to supports and story and characters so that the next one is polished and cohesive in a way that meshes well in all its aspects.
  23. I gotta say Niles' design grabbed me from the moment he was introduced in Famitsu. I believe my tag on tumblr when I first saw him was #LOOK AT HIM #LOOK AT THIS BEAUTIFUL MAN. Obligatory: Saizo's is mad too, definitely one of my favourites. I love Reina's, Flora's, Xander's, Shiro's, Setsuna's and Ashura's, too. AND HOW COULD I FORGET PERCY? But my favourite would have to be Niles.
  24. [spoiler=Conquest]Top: 1. Chapter 10. Pretty obvious by this point. 2. Endgame. I admit I might be biased since this is the first endgame I experienced but I still think it was cool. Made testing the units I had come so far raising really meaningful. 3. Chapter 7. Good start to the campaign. Bottom: 1. Chapter 15. I don't know why I don't like it but I don't. 2. Chapter 21. Not really a fan. 3. Chapter 19. Drags on due to the gimmick. [spoiler=Birthright]Top: 1. Chapter 23. Frustrating, but got to give it props for being just about the only Birthright chapter that gave me trouble. 2. Chapter 18. I like Leo, Niles and Odin. Their screentime gives this one good cred. 3. Chapter 26. Bottom: 1. Chapter 14. Boring for the most part; seems like something straight out of Awakening. 2. Chapter 11. 3. Chapter 21. FUCK THIS CHAPTER. [spoiler=Revelation]Top: 1. Endgame. What Awakening's should have been. Yeah, it was pretty easy, but it was also super epic and fun IMO. 2. Chapter 12. Fun to manage well on higher difficulties. 3. Chapter 10. Fun gimmick IMO. Bottom: 1. Chapter 11, for the sole reason of Orochi and her penchant for dying on the first turn in Loony. And the frustrating DV mechanics. 2. Chapter 18. Ugh. 3. Chapter 27. Pretty underwhelming for the most part. [spoiler=Final Overall Thoughts]Overall I enjoyed Conquest's maps far more than any other, even though some could be frustrating as hell. Revelation's early-game chapters are really fun - before Valla, the chapters on Lunatic are some of the most fun I've had in an FE for years, while the later chapters rely too heavily on gimmicks and don't really amuse for too long. Birthright is solid, but in my book too much like Awakening, which is why I ranked 23 as one of my top because of the challenge it presented.
