  1. I think sticking to highlights and favorite bits is a good idea. It'll allow you to focus on the stuff you find more interesting.
  2. I was initially reluctant to post in this thread because I didn't want to interrupt the hilarity. However, since you felt like you were shouting into the void, I shall shout back! Try not to mistake me for an echo! This is immensely entertaining. Thank you for posting this. Please keep it up!
  3. *Hugs knees and rocks back and forth* Speaking of our dear departed rockman, who here remembers that level in mega man zero where you have to find and defuse those bombs in the factory? Or better yet, the final Arcadia shrine? Ugh, and the extra life system was so punishing in the first zero game!
  4. I think FE 4 is the most overrated game in the series, especially the story and characters of gen 1, and that many (not all) fans give it a pass mainly for two reasons: 1. Wtf you die halfway through the game? That's crazy!!! 2. Eugenics (first and thus best game to do them) I type this as a fan of many things that are not as good as I think they are, so please don't hate.
  5. 1. Camilla for the black/purple aesthetic and apparently being a fantastic unit. She also kind of epitomizes what I thought the Nohr kingdom's atmosphere was going to be (gothic, vengeful, dark is not inherently bad, dichotomy between caring for your loved ones and brutal pragmatism) before we learned more about the story. 2. Ryouma because of my swordmaster bias. Also: he has a frickin' LIGHTNING KATANA! 3. Takumi actually has a personality, even if it's kinda one-dimensional. You don't have to be that deep to be more interesting than most of the cast of this new game, it seems. 4. Leon might climb higher after I get my grubby sausage fingers on my copy, because it looks like he might almost be a well-adjusted, smart human being. How sensible he actually is in the localized release will be a big factor in my judgement. 5. Marx looks kinda cool I guess, but I don't share the collective mount-related boner around here, and he seems mostly to be the generic, "Duty=father=life," type. I've read that he gets to be a pretty good big brother over the course of the game, but we'll see. 6. Hinoka seems a little... lacking? Other than having a mildly interesting character design she hasn't caught my interest. 7. Sakura and Elise might as well be the same character for all I know or care (sorry/not sorry moe fans). I generally prefer the company of adults, and the obvious, "Don't you want to proteeeeeeect herrrrrrrrrr?" schtick only ever grates on me.
  6. I want a Legend of Legaia... Something. A new sequel. A remake of the first game. Or even just a remaster that fixes that god damned freezing bug at the second to last dungeon when you play on a PS3. The creature designs were really cool for a ps1 game and the battle system was a lot of fun. Bring back Legaia! Also, megaman and Onimusha. Shitty mobile games do not a series revival make, Capcom!
  7. Star Ocean. I would love to see some high tech mashup ideas, like heavy armors turning into cyborgs, or mounted units using jet packs. The Star Ocean characters all tend to use anachronistically primitive weapons anyway, and the battle system typically allows for units that can move at different speeds across the battlefield. Also, now I'm imagining a general equipped with the bunny slippers, sprinting like his ass was on fire. Good times.
  8. Right around the time I started at University I got a copy of KoF '98 for my dreamcast. It was a passable port, and I basically got a dreamcast fight club going in my dorm (though Soul Calibur and MvC 2 were the bigger hits). I thought '99 and 2000 introduced some really great characters, even if I hated the new striker mechanic, and to this day I don't know what they have against Vanessa. Just make a boxer team already, SNK!!! Heavy D, Vanessa, Rick Strowd. Done! It's not that hard! Nobody gives a shit about Lucky Glauber OR Brian Battler, so keep the USA sports team in the internment camp where all your abandoned characters go (like poor Adelheid), and make a boxing team. You can have that idea for free! Ahem. I also think KoF13 will go down in history as an underappreciated masterpiece whose chances at big commercial success were scuttled by its mess of a predecessor, KoF12. My top 3 in terms of balance and fun are (in no particular order) '98, 2k2, and 13. The new one has me really worried, but I suppose it's at least a fighting game, and not another pachinko machine. Time will reveal all eventually, I suppose.
  9. I, um... I plan on focusing my army's resources on the curviest ladies, while ignoring the thin ones. Everybody's got their thing, and that's mine. T&A all the way! Also, while I am all too happy to wallow in the fanservice thrown specifically in my direction, I still kinda sneer at stuff like skinship and pseudo-incest, inwardly calling it distasteful. How's that for hypocrisy?
  10. Favorites: Myrmidons and mercenaries. I like infantry units in general, mostly because their animations tend to be more exciting than mounted units. Least favorite: Poor, sad, slow knights/generals. I just haven't ever had a reason to field them beyond perhaps one chapter here and there where deployment slots were plenty and I had yet to acquire a more versatile army. I don't have any hate towards them as units, I just wish they weren't so handicapped by their speed and move stats.
  11. I hail from Maui originally, but for the last 3 years I've been living in Hokkaido, Japan. I sure wish my Japanese was better!
  12. I second Chrono Trigger. That game just did everything right. Well, okay, I would have liked it if Marle had learned one more powerful attack spell, like Holy (or Pearl, as it was called in the SNES era). But that's splitting a very fine hair.
  13. I hope in the future they tone down or eliminate all the loli crap. It may be an unpopular opinion, but I actually welcomed the sight of grown-up Tiki in Awakening. Trotting out the preteen-looking-but-actually 1000-years old character was fine the first couple times IS did it (though I have never, ever been a fan of that concept) but now the manakete is a loli EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. With almost no exceptions save for the Tellius games. It's a tired trope that is made extra creepy by a weird romance/big brother complex they usually have with the lord characters. The continuing loli power is even worse with Nowi, who dresses herself like the denizen of an illegal sex dungeon. When I found out Kamui was going to be a manakete I jumped for joy (dumb personality notwithstanding), largely because it meant the cool dragon character isn't a prepubescent-looking girl. I hope this is a signal that we are at least getting a break from loliketes. Oh, and maybe don't nerf shape shifters into oblivion next time. I'm having a hard time finding a situation in fates where it would be advantageous to use your dragonstones.
  14. I'm going to jump on the rockwagon and say Megaman X and/or ZX. I always thought MMZero was the pinnacle, but ZX was a decent enough follow up and it ended on a dumb cliffhanger. Just one more game to answer one or two questions, and maybe refine the formula a little more! Other unicorn wishes include: Rival Schools. Project Justice was great, and this series has been overdue for another game for about twelve years. Garou/Fatal fury. Mark of the Wolves is in my opinion one of the great underappreciated classics of the fighting game genre, and the series' characters were consistently more colorful and interestingly designed than, say, Street Fighter. King of Fighters. Personally, I like Garou a teensy bit more that SNK's big flagship series, but KOF still had that inimitable quality to it, and I was pretty excited to see where it was going next. Too bad they just kinda stopped making games. Star Gladiator. Okay, so I know Plasma Sword wasn't good, but the setting and characters were so cool! Laser swords and Venusian battle yo-yos forever! Onimusha. Samanosuke and crew deserve better than a friggin' ios free-to-play card battler! Come on, capcom! Legend of Legaia. This was one of those playstation rpgs that hit all the right notes with me, especially the world and the monster designs. Too bad the sequel was kinda shite. And that the rights holder of the IP dissolved. T_T I have more, but I'm making myself sad thinking about all the things I used to love crumbling away.
  15. Can I put out a blanket ban on further reality TV? Like, all of it? Also, Assassin's Creed. I admit with the first two games they had a concept with a lot of potential, but after their recent announcement that literally the only settings I would care about (Hong Kong and Japan) are never going to happen due to the fact that it would require more than the absolute base minimum effort to adapt them, give it a rest Ubisoft. I know in the last several years videogames have become more of a production line product than before, but holy balls that doesn't mean they have to be soul-crushingly generic just to check them off on an annual report.
  16. Your advice is duly noted! Aaaaand I just read the intro guideline. Whoops! Egg on my face. Back to lurking...
  17. Hey, it occurs to me that I joined this forum months ago and still haven't posted a thing. So here I am! My tendency is to lurk a lot and post very little, but know that I am out there, reading and watching, always in the digital shadows of the information superhighway...
