  1. Eh, I didn't really like how the arrows looked anyway. Also, I touched up the mage girl portrait and gave it frames for a hack. It's my first time doing frames so I need feedback. (yay for TLP "chibis") I said earlier in the thread that everything I did was free to use, but I'm gonna correct that and say that anything I do for a fan game is off-limits, starting with this.
  2. My take on the Druid girl. I'll do the frames if you're interested. I don't need the payment now, so it can wait.
  3. The thing behind the pauldron was supposed to be a bunch of arrows. Better? I also made another one. There's a stray color in the eye, took care of it after posting the image on imgur.
  4. Could you elaborate a bit? Also I didn't mean for that to look like a pompadour, but I kinda like the idea now that you mentioned it.
  5. I did not spend a whole month procrastinating no sir not at all. I've been doing a bit of splicing lately. The body on the 2nd one is half-custom (it's an extension of the body of a generic FE6 priest). FEXNA sizes are cool. I also edited my 1st splice. Gahahaha! The puush pic died before I got to see it in detail. Is this okay?
  6. I, uh, kinda need help with the face and hair (and the cape, and all the other parts that are wrong in ways that aren't obvious to me). I've tried quite a few times and I really don't know what to do. Also, any pixels that aren't in the palette are leftovers that I haven't changed yet.
  7. I redid the hair and changed the body to Isadora's (with Farina's neck collar). The head issue seems to have been because of Gale's body, so I left it mostly alone).
  8. Do you mean the castle map? 'Cause if so, it wasn't supposed to look like a winter map. But yeah, I'm back and stuff. I'm laying off of animations for a bit and learning portrait splicing. First splice ever. I used quite a few pieces for the head (I even used a beard on the hair), then lazily threw it on Gale's body. Any criticism? Plz? Also how do I change the thread title
  9. I... Didn't know you could do that... Wow. Thanks, man. You're my hero.
  10. So, it's been some time since I last showed up here. I, unfortunately, haven't had internet for quite a while. I can post from my phone, but I still don't have internet in my laptop, so I haven't been able to post my progress. So, uh, yeah I'm still spriting I guess. I'm gonna try to post my progress through my phone later.
  11. Fates ate up quite a bit of my time, but I'm back, and I revamped the Swordmaster sprite. I ended up sharing colors in ways I said I wouldn't do, but oh well. Which helmet should I go with? Also, I made a map based on the Cheve map from Fates. EDIT: Does anyone know a good reference for black colors? I don't think there's an official palette with black colors in the games.
  12. It's not Seth. I just made something up for the hair on the spot.
  13. @Peachar I don't mind edits, in fact I like them and I feel I learned quite a bit from this (though I ended up mimicking your edit a lot, which fills me with a bit of shame). My stuff is free to use and edit anyway (and I'll make sure this is something worth considering someday), so it's not an issue. But yeah, thanks. I took your advice into account, except for the white (I don't like it since I feel it's really restrictive on what palettes you can come up with (especially since this sprite has white in the armor)). I added 1 more color to the skin and 1 to the katana. I know this (and the extra hair shade) puts me above 16 colors, but I'm not too bothered by that. Having 16 or less colors is definitely something I'm gonna try with most of my sprites, but if palette control and hack insertability get in the way of what I want to design, then I'll have to go with the later.
  14. Is it better now? Also, which right hand should I go with?
  15. I went and looked at some official palettes to see what they did and tried to replicate the effect a bit. I don't wanna just copy a palette since I think learning from them is a better idea (same goes for pieces, but I'm more willing to do it here since I have less experience with pieces than I do with palettes). Also I don't think there's a class with a palette that uses so many 2-shade colors. Also redid the katana and changed the shading and dropshadow a bit (still working on it). Say, should I try hiding the left arm behind the body like all the other SMs do, or should I keep it showing?
  16. Been kinda busy so I didn't get to post this until now. Anyway, I played around a bit and made an extra version that's 1 line thinner. Not sure which one I'll go with. The symbol is gonna go in the back of the jinbaori (sleeveless coat thing, apparently it's actually a kimono) in frames that show the back, and isn't shaded just yet. I also changed the trim in the body piece to some accessories to hide that I just don't now how to shade this thing. The shadow's a work in progress (as in, even more than the rest of the sprite), and I'm still trying to figure it out.
  17. He is wearing plate armor (well not quite but it's still a thick armor), not to mention he's supposed to be thick (I could get you some pics of Sumeragi but they're kinda spoilery, also I'm assuming that when you say thick you mean thick by SM standards, please correct me if I'm wrong). And I actually did do the shading, but I think my colors aren't different enough (I was trying to emulate his japanese coat thing's dark shade, and I don't know how to do such dark colors. The armor colors have plenty of contrast so I guess I just suck as far as that's concerned). I'll get around to fixing all this, but I can't post it until my internet comes back, which might be a while. As for the bg, I think I'm just gonna make a copy of the Witch's pic, change the colors to this' and copy paste this over the Witch.
  18. Progress: (still haven't been able to fix the BG issue, sorry) So, uh, is anyone here? I'd really appreciate it if someone could give me some feedback on this before I start making the rest of the frames, particularly on the pauldrons and the trim, which are 2 things I can tell are wrong in some way, but I don't know how I'd go on about fixing it)..
  19. Well, I kinda took a break from working on the Witch, and did some other stuff.
  20. Is it a bit better now? (EDIT: Uh, I think I misunderstood what you said about the right shoulder, I'll fix it next version) Say guys, what would be a good be a good range of frames for each part of the animation? Once I have a decent idle, I'm gonna do the heal, the dodges, the damaged frames (as in, frames that play while being damaged, like in FE7x), and the attack and crit. Also, any tips for moving from Usenti to Graphicsgale? I really want to switch to it since it sounds like it's great for doing animations, but when I tried it I really couldn't do anything right.
  21. I know about Yeti's tutorials, and they've helped me quite a bit. I don't like his method of spriting though, since I'm terrible at doing stick figures and outlining them. I'd show the first attempt, but I deleted it since it was completely unsalvageable (the head was kinda okay, so I kept it). I gave it another go, and came up with something halfway decent. Also, I'm not gonna use Graphicsgale at the moment. I tried it and I didn't like it.
