  1. It really depends on personal preference. I get the feeling that scrolling around the map and selecting a specific tile in a Civilization game feels more fluid and faster using a mouse than a joystick. But that is just me. Sometimes playing the game in a method that isn't optimal can turn it into a fun challenge. For example, this archived video of a guy streaming Half Life using an Atari 2600 controller.
  2. The only types of games i can think of are games that need tons of buttons mapped at once (like MMOs, etc), 4X games and other strategy games (Civilization, Starcraft) and games where incredibly quick and precise mouse movement is critical (Counter Strike).
  3. I've never used it before (I just plug it in) but SCP is compatible with bluetooth, as long as you have a dongle for it.
  4. A PS3 controller will work, but you have to get a few programs going to get it to function properly. If you have windows 8 it is even harder (The only option is SCP). The 360 controller is your best bet for ease of use. If you are playing an emulated console (SNES, NES, GBA, etc.) using a controller feels much more natural than keyboard controls.
  5. I have been busy with school lately and I have a brief respite right now to update the playthrough. I don't think I'll be able to update it again until later next week. So make sure you enjoy this update! Chapter 5: Laughing Fruit of Infinite Pain and Suffering Part 2
  6. Spreading Darkness from Megaman Zero 2 and I, 0 Your Fellow from Megaman Zero 3. And don't forget Deadman's Gun from Red Dead Redemption
  7. Goat Simulator is a special case. It is the type of game that makes no attempts to take itself seriously. In a game like that, throwing in memes left and right is not only appropriate, but is also expected. In games that take themselves seriously, that kind of thing would take a lot out of the game for me.
  8. Fairytale inspired names don't really qualify as Easter Eggs in my opinion. I see them more as inspiration (or plagiarism). Console Easter Eggs are great. I still remember the nightmare fuel Gamecube alternate startup song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxS8-nLr75s
  9. I've been seeing this a lot in this thread, but it is like the exact opposite in real life. Not many people I know who play video games even knows this game exists. This chapter is so long it will need to be split up into three parts, which I think is a good way to compensate for having such a short update last time. Chapter 5: Laughing Fruit of Infinite Pain and Suffering Part 1
  10. How do you feel about Easter Eggs in video games? For me personally, they are sort of a wild card. An Easter Egg that is successfully pulled off can make me enjoy a game significantly more, but a badly implemented one can ruin the entire experience for me. A good Easter Egg for me is: Relevant/appropriate to the game/series/developer. Subtle. Possible to be missed. Not a meme. The "relevant/appropriate" qualifier is the one that varies the most from game to game. A game about Batman, for example, should contain tons of references to Batman characters, gadgets, locations, and lore in the game. A game like Skyrim should not have any references to Batman at all. I also enjoy when games reference previous games in the series or other series developed by the same developers. Some examples of Easter Eggs I like: Easter Eggs I do not like:
  11. I highly doubt that Nintendo is going to drop the 3DS and WiiU lines anytime soon. Even if sales are not superb on the WiiU, it is way too soon to introduce the next console. The WiiU is only 2 and a bit years old at this point. If anything, the NX is NIntendo's way of expanding into the mobile games market. I highly doubt the NX will be replacing anything, just expanding. One of the slides in the IGN video has the NX, WiiU, and 3DS all in different bubbles. This indicated to me that all three are distinct products.
  12. Chapter 4: Obligatory Sewer Level Part 2 Post-Chapter Stat Review (Compared to Chapter 2 End Stats)
  13. Please no weight. At least, not involving the character's constitution. All it does is place unnecessary restrictions on which weapons I can equip to characters. Although I like the idea of variations on weapons (e.g, slim sword, iron blade) I do not want my choice of variation to be reliant on how large a character is. I would prefer a weight system that utilized strength in most occasions, but had some class specific exceptions as well. Something along the lines of Myrmidons having reduced strength requirements associated with weapons that end in "blade" because of their mastery with those weapons.
  14. If you haven't picked one yet (or are looking for more) I strongly recommend Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon for the Gameboy Advance. It is a remake of the original Shining Force with updated visuals, gameplay tweaks, and is translated better overall. This is the first real RPG of any kind I have ever faced, and I still replay it ever now and again 11 years later. If you are looking for a really tough challenge however, you may want to look elsewhere.
  15. No need to fret, I will make sure to reuse the same capture every time screenshot every shine! Chapter 4: Obligatory Sewer Level Part 1
