  1. 1) Going thru some of the inventory pages, I'm curious if there is any purpose to Elise's Young-Staff? A 1-use stave that heals for 10 HP seems like it's the staff equivalent of a joke weapon. It just seems like a vastly inferior version of the physic staff. 2) Does Misfortune and Sin work on bosses? 3) For the classes that can reach an S-rank in weapons, does the advantage of being able to use the S-rank weapons weigh out being limited to one weapon type? (Not including Ninjas, of course.) I understand if this question has too many outside variables to give a straight answer to.
  2. Sorry, I've never played a hack of anything before before so I wasn't aware you needed a ROM. I assumed it came with it. Thanks.
  3. What am I supposed to use to play this? Let what do I need to download to play this game?
  4. Well Clear Mind would also help with Brave Weapons and certain other weapons but it's true there are still plenty of weapons that don't reduce stats. Wasn't aware of it being an enemy-phase game but ok. And I thought consumables might be more valuable in this game given that they've reduced the durability and healing power of staves.
  5. Interesting, from looking at the skill list, it would seem that Clear Mind, Swallow Strike and Household Cure would be staples or the closest thing to it.
  6. K thanks, that's good to hear. And I know this is probably dumb, but Renewal and Even Nap stack right? I don't know how good the 9-Tailed Fox is, but being able to recover 70% of HP every other turn seems like it would be extremely useful.
  7. Has it been discovered how much effective damage does in this game (i.e. x2 or x3 the weapon's might?) Also, is it too early to ask if myrmidons, archers or knights are not considered bad in this game like they are in many of the older FE games?
  8. 1) Huh, I had heard infinite leveling is gone but I guess not 2 and 3) hmm ok thanks.
  9. I'm sorry if any of these were answered, I haven't been here in a few weeks: 1) What is the max level a promoted unit can reach? I've heard the highest is 40, but I don't know if that includes an unpromoted unit reaching level 20. I also know there's a seal that raises your level 5 levels once you max out. 2) In Awakening I generally promoted unpromoted units as soon as they hit level 10. Since I hear Fates doesn't allow unlimited leveling like Awakening, this means it's better to wait till an unpromoted unit reaches level 20 before promoting them (like in the old games) right? 3) I've heard Master Seals are rare up until you upgrade your vendor shop to a certain level (I think Silver?). Is this true of the other seals in this game as well?
  10. Kind of glad he didn't, I've always preferred the original Paper Mario's graphics of all the games in the series.
  11. LOL probably is favoritism, but couldn't it also be that the EXP scaling system works differently for weapons and dancing? I don't know how it worked in past games FE games.
  12. Uhm, exactly what are these numbers? Is this saying you only get 80% and 60% of the normal EXP on Hard and Lunatic respectively? That reminds me, it bothers me that under each offensive weapon minus hidden weapons and spells are enemy-only weapons that are the same as your iron, steel and silver except with a 1-2 range.
  13. EDIT: If they're glass cannons, than what about Tsukuyomi and Orochi? Traditionally dark mages/shamans have higher defense than mages? Also, how is are Pieri, Hinata, Charlotte, Setsuna Camilla, Belka, Crimson and the 3 ninjas? 2 more questions: 1) What is the max level a promoted unit can reach? 2) In Awakening I generally promoted unpromoted units as soon as they hit level 10. Since I hear Fates doesn't allow unlimited leveling like Awakening, this means it's better to wait till an unpromoted unit reaches level 20 before promoting them (like in the old games) right? 3) I've heard Master Seals are rare up until you upgrade your vendor shop to a certain level (I think Silver?). Is this true of the other seals in this game as well? Hmmm ok. But doesn't downgrading the usage so much make it harder to level up classes like Rod Knight and Priest that are stave only? Also, follow-up question: it might be too early for this, but once your Rod Knight/Priest(ess) reaches level 10, is it best to use a master seal on them right away? That's interesting. I don't recall (at least from FE 6-8) drops from enemies to be a reliable way to get any kind of weapon so that's kind of neat.
  14. I was looking at the Weapons page and noticed the traditional healing staves (Heal, Mend, Physics) or their baton equivalents all have very, very nerfed usage compared to past games. Does that impact gameplay as much as I'm imagining?
  15. So if someone buys an item with limited inventory from your shop, does it actually detract from your inventory? It would suck if you let someone visit your castle before you got that high level Magic Shop and they took the only available Magic Seal.
  16. EDIT: has anyone else looked at the usage for weapons? Seems like the nerfed the heck out usage for staves. For example Physics and the closest Baton equivalent have 5 uses! So you mean your support unit in an attack stance doesn't suffer stat reduction? And I read on another thread penalties actually apply for each weapon swing; it's a scary thought if true and probably rules out using Brave Weapons (-4 Res and Def) against bosses. Imagine being above the double attack threshold and having your def & res reduced by 16! They might have overly nerfed Brave weapons... And yea that would make more sense, being able to purchase away a weapon's weaknesses would just make the late game easier.
  17. OK. Thanks. Some weapon related questions: 1) This is very subjective, but what do people think about the weapon's penalties? Just looking at the weapons page, it seems like the penalties for non-named weapons (i.e. Camilla's sexy axe) are pretty harsh. And the weapons with lighter penalties have low Mt, Hit or both. That and a few look extremely situational (Great Club looks pretty useless without a massive forged boost to it's Hit.) 2) What's up with these enemy only weapons? Are they only one Lunatic? Or are they on Normal and Hard just for late game chapters? Or are they common weapons? 3) i've heard only 2 units can become Dark Falcons. True?
  18. 1. That was exactly what I meant. Thanks. 2. Cool. Cavalier all the way then (Luna's awesome & Diamond Strike sound amazing as well unless there is a dramatic increase in the number of magic wielding foes) 3. Hmmm ok. Like I said (I believe to you) earlier I really just want to be able to grind for supports instead of having to replay the game. I'll probably have to wait on DLC. Thanks for the responses.
  19. She is (at least from what I hear). Which is what makes it amusing that this debate is still going on. People debating about gay conversion or why she can't marry any girls despite clearly being bi....it's really as simple as she's a victim of (apparently) being a poorly written character (if you believe she's just imitating her father) and stuck in a game that, like NeroKnight said, is hetronormative with it's marriage system. That pretty much sums up her issues and how this support could exist (minus Kamui drugging her) and I've seen multiple people state this yet people are still arguing about this. I think incompetence in their writing and the mostly heterosexual marriage system is much more likely for why Soleil turned out this way than any malicious intent/backward views on IS about romantic two girl friendships, gay conversion or anything else people have been throwing around.
  20. Wow sounds like the archer equivalent of Delphi Shield. I'll definitely be getting that DLC. ...Well that changes everything. I was wondering why on Earth I'd be deterred from using Silver Weapons but now that know that ("Critical Evade -5; after battle, Strength and Skill -2; stats recover by 1 each turn"), it sounds like you really will have to put some thought into choosing weapons. I remember in a preview that you could "reduce a weapons weakness" by forging, I wonder if you can reduce how the stat penalty for a weapon? If not, sounds like an forged Brave Weapon with a boosted Hit would be the "best" generic weapon. Regardless, I'm definitely going to have to make my best units A+ with a Dread Ninja if Clear Mind works like you speculate it does. And ugh, added a tail? Guess I'm not making any males Dread Fighters (assuming it's not still gender exclusive). Breaking Sky sounds like a watered down version of Ignis, although like you said it would probably work better late in-game or on a potential Apot DLC.
  21. Ooh, interesting. Thanks. I'm presuming A+ supports don't grant you a unit's default class in the case of special units like shapeshifters, singers, and Dark Prince(ss)? Also 3 more questions: 1) Without giving a name, can you say if they're are any traditional manaketes (i.e. not Kamui,) and if so, what route are they on? 2) Is secondary class for Avatar depend on what route you play? Like could I make Hoshido Kamui's secondary class a cavalier if I wanted? 3) Can any confirm if there's maps you can grind on for free in Hoshido in the post-game?
  22. Depends on who the game's marketed to primarily. If it's not viewed as mature title (not necessarily rated M) they might change the color of it or remove it altogether.
  23. ^ I'd REALLY like to know that as well. When I saw Dark Mage was a Nohr class I was expecting there to be at least as much dark magic as Awakening and possibly even new ones... Anyway, so what's up with A+ supports? Are the they the same-sex equivalent of S supports without the romance? Can characters have multiple A+ supports? And if 2 characters have an A+ support but no S supports, do they get a paired ending?
  24. Sticker Star doesn't exist, there could never be such a bad Paper Mario game. I'd watch a 6 hour Fate/ Stay Night movie in one sitting if it was anything like UBW . Especially those last 2 episodes... I've been avoiding spoiler threads so my opinion might be off, but from the comments I've seen in spoiler free threads I have been disappointed by the rampant complaining about the game. I'm sure it has it's flaws but I'd love to hear people say what they liked about it instead of long rants on what they didn't like.
