  1. I'd prefer they just do away with the children concept entirely and put marriages and stuff back in the epilogue, but if that's not an option, might as well keep resorting to time travel. Like, Awakening already wove the entire series into a single continuity, meaning time travel already exists in Fates' universe. There's absolutely no reason for them to be barfing up ridiculous new sci-fi explanations, since they can already do pretty much whatever they need to with the time-space shenanigans Awakening introduced. It's just... why
  2. The lack of female axe-users and male Pegasus Knights always just seemed conspicuous to me I guess - the latter being explicitly stated to be exclusively female. For me, gender-locking is objectionable less because of the effects on mechanics (which indeed, it didn't affect back then) and moreso because of the stereotypical implications it has. The reason I specifically say the GBA games is because that's where I actually started playing FE (but not Binding Blade obviously, or else I'd have noticed Echidna)
  3. I love the shipping but I strongly dislike the marriage and child systems. That business belongs in the epilogue - what kind of dunderheaded couple are gonna be having kids whilst in the middle of a war? Plus the S-rank supports overwhelming tend to be trash. The de-emphasis of platonic friendships also annoys me, given a lot of the old platonic paired endings were amongst the best. oh and the face-rubbing is creepy and dumb but whatever, at least it results in more voiced dialogue from minor characters plus neato portraits Also the removal of gender-exclusive classes is absolutely fantastic; makes me super duper happy as they've always bothered me since way back in the GBA era. Backtracking with the DLC is...blegh, but it's just DLC I suppose
  4. No matter how many votes I give Tsukuyomi and Belka, they will nonetheless do poorly (╥︣﹏᷅╥᷅)
  5. I like them when they're done well, and dislike them when they're done poorly. I feel like FE's been mostly the latter lately: cringe-inducing self-inserts with one-of-a-kind powers whom almost everyone unconditionally loves (with those who don't being portrayed as inherently villainous regardless of their justifications). I also take umbrage with the cardboard personalities avatar characters tend to have, but there's not much one can reasonably do about that without defeating the purpose (or drastically increasing the amount of dialogue). That said, FE hasn't consistently done protagonists very well in the first place - a lot of the problems above can and do plague traditional protagonists as well. idk I guess better writing in general would be nice also Etrian Odyssey is indeed great
  6. She's "a lot older than" Harold, so probably even older than 35, as Harold already looks pretty old. Maybe even her 50s or 60s or beyond - think more along the lines of the old witch achetype. What's really annoying about her character, though, is how bloody obsessed she is with her age. Like, she's probably to the point where looking like her actual age would be actively detrimental, with failing health and back problems and all that - but to her, getting "cursed" to look like a child forever is apparently adequate punishment for some nondescript deed involving murdering a bunch of people. Like, geez. I mean, a legitimate curse would be a bit overzealous given her age at the time, but still. The way she puts it makes it seem like some horrible, debilitating punishment that was completely warranted, and it makes her come off and incredibly shallow-minded despite the apparent wisdom she's supposed to have. Only explanation I have is that the curse also paused her psychological development in addition to her physical growth, resulting in someone who's really not emotionally healthy. It's a pity, since she was poised to be my favourite character before the supports started getting translated. Hopefully the Treehouse saves her.
  7. My favourite royal and one of my favourite characters overall, both personality-wise and aesthetically. I'd argue her design is one of the absolute best in the series, actually.
  8. Super spiffy; was worried since my projected team was sorely lacking in Spell-users not named Tsukuyomi. And that Bolt Axe is going straight to Rinka, woo.
  9. Ignoring Spotpass stuff, how common are magical weapons (e.g. Shinrai Naginata, Explosive Shuriken, etc) in Hoshido? Any Levin Swords, or are those just in Nohr?
  10. Tsukuyomi most-attractive male, Hinoka most-attracive female. Bunch of special mentions in no particular order to Belka (whom is my favourite marriage-wise), Rinka, Oboro, Setsuna, Nyx, Pieri, Kinu, Soleil, Ophelia, Velour, Tsubaki, Nishiki, Kaze, Lazwald, Deere, Shigure, male Kanna, Foleo, and Anna. In terms of least-attractive... hm. Fuuga and Charlotte, perhaps? Camilla too but at least her hair is nice, and I'm none too fond of Odin, Benoit, Saizou, or Shinonome I like you
  11. Humans also statistically have low rates of being part-dragon. And lol, pulling the "politically correctness" card. Heaven forbid people try to be inclusive. Besides that, how is inclusiveness indicative of "low quality"? Does giving people more options - options that you personally can safely ignore - really lower the quality of the game? Why does making it so people that aren't carbon copies of you don't get a lesser experience when playing lower the quality?
  12. Because racists precede racist statements with that. Just as you're preceding a sexist and wildly heteronormative statement with something similar. My "twisting your words" was the only explanation I could come up with for your stance. Care to offer a better one?
  13. You don't have a problem with feminine men, yet you think being "THIS" feminine is disgusting? Those statements don't go together at all, I'm afraid. Perhaps a bit reminiscent of the old "I'm not racist, but..."? Why does the fact Foleo's male make him disgusting to you, when you presumably had no problem with his design when you thought he was female? Are all males obligated to be sexually appealing to you purely on the basis of their sex, or what? Oh wow. Oh wow oh wow oh wow.
  14. Yes, quite. Totally understand. What could possibly be more ridiculous than a feminine man? We better batten down the hatches, people. Intelligent Systems is out to destroy the very fabric of society as we know it!
  15. Oh no. How regretful/odd. Fantastic to see Oboro do so well, though. Wasn't expecting that. You seem rather upset.
