This is what sucks about not having the game and having to rely on second-hand information from people who may or may not have done proper experiments...I've heard information contrary to all of these answers except for number 2. Namely: 1. If both buddies have the same primary class (i.e. not "primary for one and secondary for the other"), they will have access to each other's secondary classes. It acts like a parallel seal if the one who uses it has a secondary class that matches the buddy's primary. 3. I also read about Nyx!Eponine inheriting Spellcaster, with a screenshot to prove it. Shigure inheriting Rod Knight from Azura is probably another example of this mysterious third class appearing out of nowhere, but the exact conditions under which this occurs are still vague, since this doesn't happen in every circumstance where there is overlap. (Another example of this would be what Belka!Lutz would inherit from Belka, since Lutz already has Wyvern Rider and gets Fighter from Arthur. This was asked before but I don't recall seeing a reply to it) 4. Several people have stated that Mozume doesn't give Villager to buddies/husbands. I think it can still be passed to children though? Since I don't have the game either, and so many people say so many conflicting things, it's really hard to tell who has the right facts and who doesn't. I don't think we'll ever have 100% conclusive information until someone formulates a proper experiment with an example of every single possible scenario and formally organizes the results.

Haha, gotta go fast. Anyway yeah I had also considered an Ophelia crit build and ran into the issue of not easily being able to get Roundhouse. The non-Logbook/MyCastle options were Odin being married to Charlotte, but this is too much of a waste of Charlotte's amazing mods to go on a magical unit, or Odin being married to Nyx, who can A+ with Charlotte to get Roundhouse and then pass it down.
-
I'd keep Roundhouse. The only good crit stacking build is one where you have as much crit as you can possibly get. If you still happen to have a filler slot, Line of Death is a better choice than Vengeance, as it gives a flat, 100% guaranteed +10 boost to damage, and it also makes it easier to get into Vantage/Awakening range. Vengeance will have a really shitty activation rate on a Sorcerer.

So Leon's purple Brunhilde tome is a lie, huh...

It isn't entirely correct, the Japanese description says it only works against ranged attacks and deals back half the damage. Now that some people actually have Flora, can somebody please check this? It's still good though, clearly

Once the game is released in the West (Meta Game)

Sol won't save you from being killed by Lethality, and we're talking brave weapons combined with Hoshido and Flamboyance that allows the Lethality activation rate to rise to at least 55ish%. Relying on avoid won't work very well either because Flamboyance gives both units an extra +30 to Hit. Lethality can be stopped by Miracle, but Miracle is also luck-based and we'd probably prefer something of a hard counter to deal with a strategy so stupidly powerful. It's true that Miracle can also have its activation rate boosted, but it doesn't get the benefit of having two chances to activate like Lethality can. Now I'm wondering whether a unit's Flamboyance can stack with the enemy's Flamboyance. If it can, that could cause Lethality's activation rate to reach around 75% -_- -
Idk what level she's recruited at, but since it takes time to develop an S support with her, you might want to temporarily reclass her to Herb Merchant to get her HP growths up in the meantime. It comes with pretty nice skills for short-term use and it is her true calling in life anyways. Edit: Nvm she's recruited at level 10, I thought we didn't know yet
-
Does that mean bronze weapons also can't activate Astra, Sol, etc.? Hissatsu is just the word for critical, didn't think it also referred to sword skills... Though I wouldn't be surprised if in this case it just referred to anything that activates the cut-in quote and makes the distinctive sound

"I just want to know one thing!" - Fire Emblem: Fates

Rough translation: "Little by little, the growing bonds between the two finally brought them together. But before long, Kamui's castle would become the target of raids by figureless monsters..." -
Nah, discussion of all units is fair game. Hinata will never be good as a traditional frontline offensive unit though because his speed is trash. The best niche use I can see for him atm is to take advantage of his good HP/Defense growths and troll people with Counter, which he gets access to naturally. Weapon Master and Blacksmith are bulky with high HP caps, so either one of these is good for him. You can also take advantage of the fact that he will inevitably be doubled and rush an enemy unit you really want gone at 1 range. This works even better if you can activate his personal skill by somehow getting him under half HP but still have enough to survive an attack and counter it back at 1.5x damage

I assume the copycat will be weak to Puppet Break, while the original unit isn't as long as he/she isn't a Puppeteer? -
Speaking of Sorcerers, it's really sad how they will be completely and utterly outclassed by Witches when their DLC is released. Same HP cap, both can use S rank tomes, but Sorcerer has 35 Magic, 26 Skill, and 29 Speed, compared to Witch's 36 Magic, 27 Skill and 34 Speed. Not to mention Witch's broken ass skills like Warp and Witch's Cauldron. Seriously what the fuck?
-
Nah, there are a bunch of weapons as well as skills like Swallow Strike that make it easier for units to double. Also Anna has a speed mod of -1 while plenty of children (and Kamui) are capable of having +4 or higher speed mods. It might not necessarily be "common", but you'll see it happen. Also if we're assuming units have capped defensive stats, believe it or not, Res caps are slightly higher on average than Def caps across all classes in this game. Mindblowing I know.

Smogon gets a lot of shit for all of the bans it implements, but if this game's PvP ends up coming down to a literal coin flip for every single battle where players hope they don't get Lethality'd (you yourself repeatedly made the point of how imbalanced it was) and the game is no longer fun...well idk, people can decide what to do from there. -
Well it's a Japanese name not English lol, and in Japanese the 'g' is always pronounced as a hard 'g' like in girl (it isn't exactly the same, but close enough)
-
Fimbulvetr and Ragnarok are the equivalent of Steel and Silver weapons so they're probably meant to be phased out when you get access to the rarer weapons. Like, nobody is going to continue using Steel and Silver Swords on their postgame builds. So it makes sense that Levin Sword would be superior to them on hybrid/magic-oriented classes that can use both swords and tomes. This could be the game's way of incentivizing the use of hybrid classes, as opposed to Awakening where they were generally outclassed by Sages and Sorcerers. Basaras and Dark Falcons have it even better because they have partial weapon triangle control with their magic options.
-
Yes. This isn't how promotion bonuses worked in all games, but it is indeed how it works in Awakening and Fates. Probably the DS games too, since that's the only way free reclassing can really work
-
I don't understand why there would be conflicting information on something as easy to establish as this...but I believe people have confirmed that Nohr works with the partner's proc skills, which is easier to test than if it works with support skills like the ones you mentioned. Hoshido and Nohr would actually work pretty well in combination to produce a super Kamui. Put him in Guard Stance with someone who supplies all the stuff he could want but not have room to fit (e.g. Pavise/Aegis/Miracle/Breaking Sky/Luna - the last two are a procstack and none of these conflict with each other in a detrimental way), while Kamui runs Hoshido+Nohr and three other non-proc skills to become an absolute beast

He's twisting our words to make it seem like we are offended by this mechanic when all we're doing is making fun of it

Yeah I also hate it when I accidentally strip people to their underwear because of my clumsiness

Once the game is released in the West (Meta Game)
Bovinian replied to HTakara82's topic in Fire Emblem Fates
Yeah my reasoning was mostly grounded in the accessibility problem. Even if connecting to other player's castles online is super easy, you still need to find a team with the exact unit you need with the exact skill you're trying to get, and repeat this process for all of your otherwise unobtainable skills. Maybe in the future there will be some sort of repository where people can get access to literally every possible unit/skill combination, but before that happens, it wouldn't be fair to everyone. And even if this does become possible, I think some people will still appreciate having another separate meta where not every unit can get access to every possible skill at the same time, and having it coexist with an "anything goes" meta. You might view them as unnecessary rules, but the mindset is similar to why Ubers is not the only meta that people play in competitive Pokemon. Different metas allow different types of strategies to become viable, as long as the rules are well enforced. -
I created a thread for that a while back, but it was before the base stats were officially released so it was incomplete for some units. I could update it with the new information and revive it
-
Okay fair enough. But my first reason still applies

Rules and banlists are not the same thing. Rules are general conditions according to which everyone agrees to play right off the bat. Banlists include specific individual things that would normally be allowed under the rules, but are picked out to be banned for one reason or another. A basic set of rules that I think everyone can agree to is basically what OP said. Only use characters that are naturally recruited on your file, no buying units or skills from Logbook/MyCastle. Kamui will still get access to almost every class, but all other characters will be limited to a maximum of 4 or 5 class trees. Children still have the potential to get via inheritance up to 2 skills they can't get normally.
