  1. I feel a topic like this is needed. Feel free to ask any questions you have regarding the rules (or rulings) of FE Cipher here and people will answer them. We just ask you to read this before asking any questions: http://serenesforest.net/wiki/index.php/Comprehensive_Rules_of_FE_Cipher If you feel your question has still not been answered, then go ahead and ask it here.
  2. Okay, since it is highly likely all of the starter deck and promo cards will have entries soon enough, I have decided to close the poll in 24 hours since we need to have a decision soon. It's still very close, so I suggest any who care but have yet to vote, go and do so soon. If the poll happens to be tied when I would close it, then I will cast the tie breaking vote. I have yet to vote (and still do not care either way), so it really isn't unethical. And after that, pages need cleaning! EDIT: It is now official. Every series 1 card (including starter deck and promos) is on the wiki, translations and everything! I finished it off myself! All that is really left is alternate artwork and + cards, which we need to figure out how we want to input them in. We also need to clean up the pages. This includes: *templates instead of raw data on all the pages (some have the template, some do not, basically) *same terms used for every page (some pages use different terms for the same thing) *every category a card is supposed to belong to is on the page (some pages are missing categories) *cards that are also in the starter deck need to reflect as much on the page (some cards also come in the starter deck, in addition to them being in the booster set and the card entries do not say that) I just don't wanna be the only one doing this... q.q
  3. http://serenesforest.net/wiki/index.php/Comprehensive_Rules_of_FE_CipherDoes that not cover it all? Or is it basic misunderstanding? The reason I'm asking is because I am always looking for ways that page can be improved.
  4. Okay, every series 1 card is now up there. All that is left is starter deck exclusives and promo exclusives (the ones that aren't just alt arts). I have already uploaded the images for those cards so that isn't an issue. After that, it's time to start cleaning up the pages so that they look uniform (and have all their categories, rather than just the color on some of them). Some pages start with low cost units and some use raw data rather than a template. What I'm saying is, is if anyone is willing to help with that, please...
  5. Actually...that is exactly what me and a buddy are working on right now. He wants it to be automatic, so it'll be a while. Maybe I can convince him to release it as manual first and then automatic later, as he says it should be done around September with just us two working on it at this rate.
  6. I more or less changed stuff on that page to suit your critiques, Eclipse. Didn't use exact wording, but still better wording and less confusing all around. And I did use your stuff as a base, but I prefer writing my own thing, no offense and all that. I even added some stuff we both overlooked (such as that ruling involving breaking 2 orbs in the special notes). I feel that the phrase "but a different deployment cost" would bite us in the ass one day when they might make units of the same character that have the same deployment cost, but a different effect and name. And I added that Vanguard quote because I feel it would be borderline irresponsible not to at least acknowledge the similarities lol. Apparently, even the Nintendo employees who ran the Cipher demo events name dropped CFV when explaining the game. I do adore the game so and is one of the factors that got me into this game. And I am only Kai because that means I get dibs on Aichi! XD Don't really care too much for Kai's clans. Cute magical sailors is where it's at! The order goes "attack, support, crit/evasion, battle calculation". Please note that there are support effects that boost power along with ones that prevent critical attacks (like how all the clerics work), so it would have to work like this for it to make sense. EDIT: Thanks for pointing that out, Pasu! Yeah, one can generally assume that is the case, especially with how the other female Robin works, along with male Morgan. Would be unfair if a player who was winning could heal damage like that. I already fixed the wiki entry, but it is up to Aubergine to work on the document itself.
  7. http://serenesforest.net/wiki/index.php/Comprehensive_Rules_of_FE_Cipher I made that and feel good about it! If there is anything wrong, missing, or can be worded better, then please don't be shy and fix it (or tell me so I can do so)!
  8. Better than me at coding! XDAnyways, there are some characters with two skills and a support skill, like Lucina (counts as Marth, +20 against dragons, and supporting breaks two orbs) and there are characters with three skills and no support skill, like Tiki (support cards go to the bond area, 8 or more bonds gives her +30 power, and +20 against dragons). In other words, go for 1-3 skills and 1-2 skills and a support skill. You can eliminate "ability4", in that case, especially since most people agree that Anna has two abilities and not four and she would be the only card with that many abilities.
  9. The timing for "rescue" is when no action is being taken. In other words, you cannot "chain" it to anything. Gotta wait until nothing is going on before you can use it. It's meant to protect an attacker, mostly, by popping them in the back after they attack. You can still make them waste a critical by going for an evade, however. As for the Inigo, yes that is how that works. He supports for 40 on attacks, but for 20 on defense. Please know that Inigo will not support at all if the unit to be supported is himself. Characters cannot support themselves (with the exception of Anna).
  10. You know, you just gave me an idea. And if anyone feels I'm going too far with this in any way, please speak up. One of the ideas I have for implementing alternate arts are tabs that people can click on to view them in the card entries (look at the "Duo" cards on the CFV wiki for an example of what I mean by this) and I just remembered that the YGO wiki does something similar with languages. Since I am more or less clueless as to how to do any of this, Vincent, is this viable and something people would want?
  11. I don't see why it wouldn't be :) However, this is an English site, so maybe a Spanish FE site would be better to host such translations? I'm not entirely sure how this sort of thing would be done, but I do say that such translations would be indeed useful to help build a Spanish speaking community for the game. Also, that poll is tied again people. If you care, please vote, as, unlike federal elections, every vote counts.
  12. I love how this thread devolved into "be grateful for anything at all!" and "you're such a prude for asking them to take out lines that make it sound like you're having sex with your sister!" 9at least make it so Camilla and the rest don't make the incest stuff so "incesty"). And I thought this was going well at first. At least stuff like "censorship" and "difficulty making more options" are actual arguments and not character attacks on someone you don't even know. Look, I'm all for "one step at a time", but it would be nice to try and take another step at some point, yeah? It's highly unlikely it will be so soon, but hey, "you fail at anything you don't even try at" and all that. Most can agree (and think have) that while this is a good first step, this isn't the final one. In any future game they make where "romance simulator" is a part of it, there needs to be more than one option each when it comes to same-sex. I really hope this is just Nintendo testing the waters and seeing how people react before implementing more, I really do, but this is also the same company that never even thought of including same-sex options in Tamodachi Life when they really, really should have. I hope they get the message of "Good job, Nintendo! Now do more and come into the 21st century with the rest of us!" I love, like, all of this, I really do. Lots of good points. But gotta correct you on the "localizations never really added anything not in the original". I get you mentioned that you weren't aware of any and acknowledged the fact that it was possibly incorrect. I just wanna say some stuff against that one point, but totally agree on the rest. I can think of two examples off the top of my head. Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World actually did this twice. Once for the NA version and again for the EU version (the updated re-release on the PS3 made the updates available to all regions, however). I believe the changes were slight bonuses to your file if the game detected Tales of Symphonia data for NA and a few attachments for Emil and Marta for the EU version. And another actually occurred last year. A feature in Akiba's Trip had CG images for key points in the game. The NA game actually added some. You see, in this game, combat is done by everybody trying to strip each other (most people doing this are vampires and it all makes sense in context...kinda. It's all really tongue-in-cheek, though) and this game happens to celebrate your victory over a boss with a CG image of their clothes getting ripped off (yeah...). The game has 12 bosses. 6 male and 6 female. The JP version didn't have CG images for the male ones, just the female ones. They added the male ones for international release. One could imagine that they figured their JP audience wouldn't be able to fathom a buff guy getting stripped down to his briefs in a game that is basically super cheeky fanservice for everyone (you can even cross-dress! Both ways!), but figured their NA audience would like it. (And how is that argument that I'm too prudish coming along, folks?) Sorry for rambling a bit there, but it was just nice to see a game do fanservice correctly. Too often it's been mostly catering to straight males with a few bones being thrown to straight females by just making a few of the males "pretty" when they could really easily do more and irritate a lot less people. But then again, this is really only a problem in Japanese games that do fanservice nowadays.
  13. I say it's more equal, just different. They see it more as something you keep to yourself (but straight people can still totally be straight in public >.>). And it's a little hard to see them as being less opposed when even the U.S. has same-sex marriage everywhere now. They just have Shibuya for that, if I am not mistaken.
  14. Almost as if sexuality is a spectrum and hard to define, wait... (I know I'm preaching to the choir here. I'm just having some fun lol) And as for comparing the population ratios, the only thing that matters when it comes to not going overboard. I think we all agree one option each is kinda too few, especially when they can still be romanced as the opposite sex And guys, I know this is a long shot by any sense of the word, but I still find these facts to just be lame. Also, how may people are aware that Bravely Default was censored and rather heavily? Aged up the characters, modified some of the skimpier outfits and took out some of the pedo jokes (as in "Ha! Ha! That old man is saying pervy things to a 15 year old girl!" type of jokes).
  15. Without going into very many spoilers (especially as I am trying to purposefully avoid them myself), there are some aspects of Fates that I feel are held back by Japanese culture when it comes to a release in the West. I'm not saying one culture is better than the other, but I feel these two facts would not go over very well in the West (and I do think most here feel the same): *Zero and Shara are the only same-sex options. There needs to be at least a few more. Seems a shame the only options are locked into each route (at one each) and happen to be rather psychotic characters. Not to knock on them, but why are the sole two options psychotic? I don't think it would be too hard to write up some of the S conversations and one would think they would just reuse the CGs from the opposite-sex scenes. *Some of the skinship quotes. Namely, the S-rank ones. I love me some fanservice, but some of those go straight into super pervy territory. I mean, honestly, some of your siblings still call you "brother" or "sister" after you already marry them, not to mention a good deal of these quotes are really sexual. In fact, I think this will already be taken out of international releases, but you never know. Good idea? Bad idea? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. I just hope it isn't too late, which I think it might be.
  16. Hmmm...just realized there needs to be a time limit on the poll. How do you guys feel about having the poll close when all series 1 cards have been entered into the wiki? And there needs to be one, since it is close enough that every vote does count. If it has been decided that every card does indeed get its own page, then we can easily just copy paste tables over, as I more or less said before. On a happy note, cards 75-100 have been entered! I personally saw to that (though someone else did make the Cordelia page). Gotta keep chugging along here people! Sadly, I was hoping that by the end of the day today, all cards would be up, but that doesnt seem to be happening. Oh well. I think we can get it all in by the end of tomorrow, right, people? Also, I uploaded all the Starter Deck exclusive cards and promos that were not just alternate artworks (we'll figure out what to do with those later. I already have them ready to be uploaded when we figure that stuff out), so people can also make entries for those now too. The reason why I was reluctant upload them earlier is because they are sample images. Anyone know where some high quality non-sample images of these cards are? Looks tacky to be using those indefinitely, unfortunately. Same with all the R+ and SR+ cards, as I want those to be available for viewing on the wiki, as well (they will be in the same boat as alt arts for the time being, however, but I want those handy).
  17. I assume it would be as long as he is supported by said character, same with the Falchion peeps when they attack dragons. Otherwise, SR Chrom is OP by gaining 40 power permanently. No one would play dragons if that were the case. But yeah, they need to phrase these effects better. I was thinking that exact thing when making some of the wiki pages. CFV spoiled me with how well they phrase effects lol. Isn't ST the rarity for cards in Starter Decks? I wasn't aware they occurred in boosters.
  18. I just heard it, is all. You know how things get when information isn't confirmed. This is why I'm glad I started this topic first before setting up the rules page lol. Alright, so "upgrading" is actually called "leveling up" and the former unit stays under the new card. And you may not promote on a promoted unit (but you may still level up). Does that seem correct? Is anything else incorrect in that massive list?
  19. Her effect doesn't specify where and even says "at all times", so she is also Marth when in the hand, support area, bond area, orbs, deck, and retreat area, in addition to the field. It is rather cool they are doing stuff like this from the get-go. Really makes you excited for additional sets, just to see what new stuff they come up with. Yeah, YGO has some pretty good art, but most of it is rather similar to one another and WS art is only really good when they don't go for screencaps like they usually do. MtG and FoW does have some good art. But yeah, I would only bother buying cards when I can actually play the game too.
  20. But wouldn't leaving the previous unit underneath when leveling up cause people to think a promotion occurred? While I think it's fine to leave the original unit when leveling up a promoted unit (especially if it means that CCS can still work), but people might get confused and I feel that IS is purposely making this a game that is easy to keep track of.
  21. First off, if left to the states, being gay would be illegal in at least 10 of them. Seriously. In Lawrence v. Texas, it was ruled that anti-sodomy laws are illegal. To date, only 2 states that had such a law on the books at the time of the ruling were taken off such books. Ironically, Texas is not one of those states. No one has been tried under these laws (because any prosecutor that would do so would be laughed out of the court), but a number of people still get placed in a holding cell for said "crime" while the police investigate them for any wrongdoings they may have done. Also, I do wonder if Jim Crow would still be the law of the land there if the Supreme Court and federal government didn't intervene. I understand it's a slippery slope, but many people would still have to sign off on it and people in general are morally good. Also, last I checked, many states refused to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other states. This is super illegal. Like, spelled out in parts of the Constitution from before the Bill of Rights level of illegal. Article IV, Section 1: Full faith and credit shall be given in each state to the public acts, records, and judicial proceedings of every other state. And the Congress may by general laws prescribe the manner in which such acts, records, and proceedings shall be proved, and the effect thereof. Full Faith and Credit Clause basically states that any contract or ruling made in another state must be recognized by every other state, even if such a thing would be illegal there. It's why your high school diploma isn't worthless in 49 states, same with driver's licenses and marriage certificates, among other things.
  22. Yeah, people linked to a JP site that leaked the whole set and grabbed images from the V Jump app (apparently, I don't know lol). I just took those images, named them after their set numbers, made them PNG format and uploaded them. They really were very high quality. I was actually shocked by how quick it all was, and this is coming from somebody experienced with set releases and knows how fast Japanese people have those images up lol. But yeah, if you want an image of the card, just type up "File:setnumber.png" for it. Be sure to include rarity since that is part of the numbering, technically. As for the support skill, just put it under "abilities". I feel that since only cost 1 cards have them, it shouldn't be added to the template since for most cards it would be "N/A" and there are cards with three (and one even has four) abilities and none of them are support skills. Side note: any way we can make it so that when a card doesn't have something (say, a third ability), then it doesn't even appear as part of the table for the card? I mean, that would be a great way to add support skill to the template, in my opinion.
  23. http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=55054 I dunno if people saw that, but it's been almost 24 hours since I posted that and I feel it is important topic to discuss and I felt it would have derailed this topic too much, so I made a new one. I feel like a dirty person, shilling my own stuff...
  24. I looked back on the Tiki page and there are still issues with the template or with how the page reacted to the change. I am away from my computer right now (on mobile), so I will double check later. Otherwise, I really like how it looks now. Much better! Thanks, Vincent! And since there seems to be a discussion on it, I made a poll asking people how they wish card entries worked on the wiki. Please vote if you care. For now, let's just do it how we've been doing it and if the majority decides each card gets a page, we can easily transition. We still need to get every card up there and I feel it needs to be sooner rather than later.
