  1. IKR!!! I'm thinking maybe Cassandra Lee Morris, but considering her doing work for XenoX it's hard to tell. Plus my memory of her Suguha act is kinda vague since I only watched one ep of SAO dubbed (whished I could say the same for the entire series in general aside of the SomethingWitty abridged) so there's that as well. -Edit- So maybe I might have been way off on this one. I wished I could remember what dubs I have watched and what the VAs were to narrow things down. Oh well.
  2. *raises eyebrow suspiciously towards mod* Really now
  3. So while most are positive, honestly for me what I've heard of her for Azura and all largely gears towards negative, BUT, as I mentioned in that one geek podcast video, she did pretty well with what she had and after multiple hearings of what we've seen by far I've been tiptoeing back and forth between positive and negative. However, one thing I do commend her on is the vocals for LITAA on the dance scene in Hoshido as it was done perfectly in my opinion and actually made me prefer it over Renka's rendition of it in Japanese. I don't like how she performed the Nohr version as well as it's lyrical flow (not her fault though), but to have someone like me who usually prefers the Japanese to the English dub like something vice versa so much more is an accomplishment in it of itself. I hope you don't mind my criticism Rena, it's just simply my personal viewpoint and I'm not the type to usually be obnoxious about it like most others on the net out there are. -EDIT- Also, though I may not like all of her deliveries for lines as Aqua, I think her normal voice is quite lovely.
  4. I love this change. They kept some parts of the lines that I loved (like in the cheesy confession where Kamui compares her smile to the sun's radiance), and got rid of all the negative connotations of the Japanese one. The start of her confession delivery didn't sound too great to the Japanese for me, but the rest of it was pretty good and I think I kinda like her English VA. Also kinda sounds familiar. It's bugging me now on who her VA might be.
  5. I still don't have a Robin and Lucina Q_Q. All because stock sold out 10s<
  6. My local GS isn't doing one sadly. Oh well. FE, though much more famous now than ever, still isn't that big in my area, though I suppose this is largely in part due to not living in an area filled to the brim with people like LA, NY, or Miami. That will be something that's going to change however once college rolls around as I'll be living in Worcester at the very least which is near Boston. If I get into my dream school that I wanna attend though, I'll be right in the heart of LA, which would be 10x as awesome but also painful if I were to continue ordering easily scalped Nintendo of America products.
  7. It's really hard to tell, but I suppose this dude summs up what could most plausibly be the answer.
  8. They do provide details, it's just that those details are very vague. Also this isn't a problem inherent in the gaming industry in the west as it also blends into the anime industry as well. I remember attending a panel at a convention once with Monica Rial and a few other notable VAs and they did gloss over some of these aspects.
  9. Lol, interesting vid. But yeah, it's only just a reminder to me now that I think of it that it may partly not be the VA's fault for delivery. As for Rena's part, I'm still going through highs and lows of cringe and not-so cringe with her songs and acts for Aqua. I mean, it's good on some parts if not okay, and reaaaaally bad on others. When it comes to these things, considering that they (in this case Nintendo) don't provide that much details of the character for the actor, it does lend its way towards having an inconsistent act throughout the course of recording.
  10. So I'm cancer, and people who share my sign include: Mitama, Leon, Nishiki, Odin, Sophie, and Matoi. As for chars I'm compatible with... Niles, Ryouma, Midoriko, Setsuna Soleil Alex, Flannel, Silas Flora, Felicia, Belka, Aqua, and Elise. I am deeply satisfied with this turnout. Too bad Kinu isn't on here for me though -_-
  11. And I gotta say, this is ZOUNDS fun. Pretty hard compared to Awakening (largely due to linearity I suppose) and I was going for a No-Death run so I reset a bunch of times whenever a unit died. Ended up Getting a B Rank on Lyn and Eliwood's story. Anyways, for my second Fire Emblem experience, it blew me out of the water and overrall had a much better story execution than Awakening (and Fates.) It's a shame that the writing quality dipped for the most recent titles. Anyways, as for gameplay, it's pretty strong, and I feel that not having any skills for abuse also played a large part in the difficulty of the title. I can't wait to do an Eliwood/Hector Hard run one of these days. As for units, I'm kinda disappointed that I was only able to use a few units fighting Nergal, and I was pretty much forced to use only Eliwood and Athos to fight the dragon at the end because all my other units were too weak/too slow to soak damage from it and I had Erk and Lucius on healing duty to heal up Athos and Eliwood, and then Erk on Lucius and Lucius on Athos (Eliwood just stood there since Dragon was targeting Lucius all the time so I didn't attack at that point.) I suppose though this sad bit of results was because I was playing blind for the most part and that I didn't distribute exp to well. For starters, my only 20/20 unit in the game was Erk, with Lyn following close behind. As for why this was a thing...well I wouldn't say it wasn't necessarily bad exp distribution, at least not in Lyn's Story. In Lyn's Story, I was relatively fine throughout the entirety of the game and only needed to restart a few times due to unfamiliarity with having to do the math for what damage I'm doing and what I'm taking on the stationary bosses, and by the end everyone I used was competently level (Levels 5-10). Afterwards though when Eliwood's story came in I got completely lost on just who I wanted to level and how I should go about doing it. So I figured Rebecca wouldn't be doing too great since she comes in later than Wil, so I benched her. As for Lowen, I figured he'd be great since he wasn't a Jeigan like Marcus was so I went with leveling him and he became my staple cavalier for most of the game along with Sain (Kent was benched), up until the later chapters. Other than that, there were so many new characters being introduced early on in Eliwood's story that I eventually lost track of just who exactly I wanted, so Lucius and Raven got used, along with Dorcas, Priscilla, Heath, Hawkeye, Pent, and Jaffar aside of the three lords. Everyone else were pretty much benched barring only Karel really as I didn't train Guy and Raven didn't get good levels for me so his stats were lacking by endgame. As for the leveling, I mentioned earlier how all the units being introduced so quickly all at once confused me on what I should do, it also threw my leveling pace off to the point where I didn't know which units I wanted to invest levels in and which ones I didn't. And to top it all off, I was able to suprisingly level Hector fast enough that he was level 20 slightly before if not on the chapter where you get your first Heaven's Seal, and since I didn't know how those were going to be distributed and I wanted Lyn to be first as she wasn't far-off either from 20 at that point, I held off on promoting him until I got a second copy of the seal. This ended up taking much longer than I'd hope to do and both Lyn and Hector ended up being ready to promote right at the chapter where Eliwood's forced to promote (he was forced at 18 for me), and they all started their promotion line at roughly the same time (like Chapter 27/28.) Thusly so, despite being a good unit, Hector got barely any time to shine in the final chapter due to him being too weak to take hits from the bosses, thus making me rely on my mages, Hawkeye, and Lyn w/ Longbows to do any reliable damage to certain bosses as necessary. Couple all that with not knowing how to deal with the increasingly stronger enemies forced me into doing early promotes for pretty much all my other units as they were becoming too weak to be taking hits from units that they should be able to safely take hits from. So yeah, not so great experience there. As for other aspects, the story is great and consistent. I loved my mages (Lucius, Pent, and Erk) since they were wrecking left and right for me. I also liked Serra as a character but due to limited space I ended up rarely using her after I got Priscilla. I barely used Wil and Rebecca since limited space as well as the timeskip ended up screwing with who I wanted to be leveling that come time by chapters 15 or so both were way too weak for me to make use of too often, but I ended up prioritizing Wil on chapters I could take him or felt he was necessary and early promoted him. The thiefs I ended up using only when I needed chests and later on when I learned that stealing was a thing and could net you some cool items. As anyone tanky, I eventually ended up using Wallace in Eliwood's Story (not really Lyn's) since I didn't want to go through with leveling Oswin. As for my fliers, I only ended up using Heath because as much as I wanted to use Florina, she felt too weak for me by the time you re-recruit her in Eliwood's story, combined with the fact that ballistaes are a thing, resulted in her getting benched, and her sister as well who also felt too weak to hold her own by the time she was recruited, thusly leaving me with Heath. Now for supports, I can't say much about those as the game never really explained it and I didn't know just how exactly (and I still don't) to make use of them and their bonuses, so I literally only have 2-4 supports throughout my entire playthrough with 0 A ranks. Onto the music, though the fidelity of the sound isn't as good as newer titles, when it comes to the timeperiod however, the 64-bit sounding tracks are pretty amazing and enjoyable to listen to and much more preferable to me than a good bit of Awakening's soundtrack which went through one ear and out the other for me. All in all, it's a great game with a lot of replayability, and I'm looking forward to jumping into the machine once more after I get a better understanding of the game as a whole with its gameplay mechanics so that I can be better prepared for the Hard Mode runs. Anyways, for any advice it'd be appreciated if it were posted here, and with that I'll be off to try to play through Binding Blade and Sacred Stones before Fates drops. My overall clock time in this run was roughly 32 hours, with nearly 500 turns altogether (498). After I get through my time with the GBA titles and Fates, I'll probably do runs of the NES/SNES games to get a feel for the older parts of the series. Also I'm disappointed in the lack of having a dragon unit in this game, though for story reasons whatwith Ninian and all I can see why it was left out.
  12. Exactly. As best said by IGN, it was all just a non-troversy, yet they made a it huge controversial subject, potentially ruining the game's potential sales, all so that they could get clicks.
  13. And now we all have a legitimate reason to gather all our pitchforks and burn down Kotaku. See you guys in a bit, I'm going to dig their grave.
  14. I want to see him (and Zero, Alex, and Leon) as a witch. (Don't judge.) C'mon hackers get in on this.
  15. Yeah this, and apparently my earlier quip about Yuugiri was also a forgotten aspect (though I think that wasn't as focused in the original compared to now). Also forgot that Izana is supposedly eccentric.
  16. Its real. And as funny as it sounds, considering the situation and his Japanese character, I find this a pretty sad localization. Then again, Pieri and Yuugiri are now Henry 2.0s, so I guess why not add some of those qualities over to Izana.
  17. I've been going through first time playthroughs of some of the older games (currently stuck on Chapter 26x of Blazing Sword). Other than that, school as usual -_-
  18. Already added a lot of people here but what the heck -Edit- Also won't be adding my code until my Revelations playthrough. [spoiler=MyCastle Code]
  19. Yeah, this. I would have loved to pet as a joke though, but I couldn't care less if it's gone since they're keeping the major assets. Though not having Dual audio, as stated is a major disappointment for me (I WANTED MIYANO GODDAMIT), but also as stated I still love FE and won't be canceling my order just because of this. All it is is simply another check onto the list of things Nintendo of America has been doing to irk me in recent years. In a sense, to me it's a deal-breaker, but not for my order of the game, just simply for the company here in the States (Ninty Eu and Japan are totally cool with me. This isn't even the first time where I've seen a foreign branch of the company be good to their fans yet America's branch treats us like crap though.)
  20. Thanks for the honesty. And yeah, on the counterspectrum I'm of the opposite, but I acknowledge a great dub when it's there, I've just been getting irritated with how Nintendo's been choosing to handle things in recent years with all their policies regarding both localization as well as business like Amiibo and not releasing the regular version of the New 3DS outside of limited releases. (It was because of this I was forced into an XL when my OG 3DS broke, yet I wanted the regular because of the faceplate customization and the fact it helps with DS protection.)
  21. And here comes the name-calling. Just because I like niche titles doesn't mean I'm like a majority of the cancer known as "weaboos". I still like FE, I'm still going to get the NA version and have a shitton of fun with it (albeit w/o audio). And the english VAs by far are okay to me, but still rub off me in the wrong way compared to Awakening's dub. Obviously though you don't seem to want to have a reasonable conversation if this is what you resort to.
  22. They could've at least been transparent about it all like companies such as XSEED where they TELL their fans what they can and can not do and why exactly they can't do it. This is why I was able to deal with the localization of titles like RF4. Nintendo hasn't, plus not only that, their policy with amiibo and making the NN3DS a limited release all got me relatively annoyed. And then there's Xenoblade, yeah there may not have been space on the Wii U disc or 3DS cart for Dual Audio, but they could've included it as a download for either a small fee or for free like I recently heard one of IFI, XSEED, or NISA did recently. There's only so much a fan can put up with until they get annoyed at policy from a large company when much much smaller ones do what they can. Don't get me wrong, I'm still getting the game, all of it's DLC, all of Smash's DLC, XenoX, etc. It's just once I'm done with everything on my list that's it for NoA from me.
  23. I've already explained in detail earlier why I have been losing faith in NoA. This was just the final nail in the coffin. This doesn't mean I'm done with Nintendo, Fates, or FE it just means I'm done with NoA.
  24. This saddens me quite well. Well, I had a feeling NoA would take their cliche localization route. Looks like I'll have to adjust to the english voices for this title -_-. At the very least I know not to trust NoA anymore. And yes, I can acknowledge that rights were probably a factor, still doesn't change the fact I'm pretty salty. Also inb4 Bravely Second is English locked.
  25. Well there's been quite a few comments since my last post. Anyways, in response to that English-centric person that wrote a heated comment on my ruminations about why I would not buy anything anymore from NOA, it's not that I hated Awakening or Xenoblade's dub. In fact, I LOVED the British in OG Xenoblade (preferably more than the Japanese, which is rare for me on English over Japanese) and as for XenoX, I don't have the full game but what I've heard by far is mediocre at best. What I was complaining about is that a feature that was present in previous titles (AKA Dual Audio) was removed from later releases as the franchise left the niche territory and became popular. This ticks me off, especially since I'm accustomed to having Dual Audio in at least half of the niche titles that I have played (everything localized by NISA.) It's pretty much the principle that localization feels they should hand-feed us when they're getting more in return, yet they didn't practice this earlier when they weren't getting as much or didn't get as much. If you don't believe, just watch and wait for a single Fatal Frame release to be as much of a hit as Awakening was. I'll bet you that the release after that hit title will include much much less than just a few costume changes. -Edit- For a better analogy, it's pretty much like having a father that's never there for you while you are young, and then all of a sudden you get older and more responsible and suddenly he wants to start parenting you. That's really an asshole move, even more so on the fact that personally speaking, that's exactly the deal with my own father. So yeah, when I feel like I'm being hand-fed something now, but wasn't before, I get skeptical and angry.
