  1. Ok so not a lot of activity concerning Cipher lately, no real updates besides some of the images of the packs for September and whatnot. It's been pretty quiet in Japan as well, I'm afraid it's losing a bit of steam. Nint was really pushing before release and now the twitter updates are mostly of cards we have seen months ago now. Anyway some ORIGINAL CONTENT (sort of) for you all, (iPhone quality) photos of the Tourney Promo cards, and the new Marth V Jump Promo that came out today. Marth V Jump Tiki Wrys Minerva Jaegan Cordelia Tharja Aaand a special bonus pic of "Marth Madness" in my deck. What other cards need images? Is anyone playing online?
  2. Right. In terms of value SR+ Lucina > Marth > Caeda > Navarl > R+ Robin F > Lissa. Still, SR+ Lucina has dropped from like 20000 to 5000 yen. SR+ Lucina, Marth, or Caeda is Jackpot status. Don't have a scanner, I should get one though. I'll take pictures with my iPhone soon. As far as I know I have every promotional card available ATM.
  3. It acts as a Marth and Lucina at the same time -- you can promote Masked Lucina to Marth or another Lucina. Once it is no longer masked Lucina, it loses the function to act as Marth, meaning you can have SR Lucina and SR Marth out at the same time. In other news, card prices are dropping rapidly (most Rare cards are 39, 50, 100, 200 yen) except for a few cards (SR Chiki, Caeda, Cordelia). Also, after 5 tournaments.. My Marth/Lucina spam deck is holding up pretty well, winning more than half of the time now and always ending up very close (no orbs on both sides.) Thinking to revise it a bit though but I'm not sure with what..
  4. There will be a ! over the Lilith building. It should be there every time you come back from a battle or some phases pass.
  5. There's 4 phases, so maybe 6 hours? If I put my game to sleep and open the DS when I wake up, it will refresh the My Castle and have moved phases. Also, doing battles and stuff will make the phase move. I would have liked the my castle to match IRL phases but :( Yes, if they have a level 2 (Silver) item shop. It won't detract from your inventory or shop. It will make a "copy" of that shop only usable the character visiting. I have an accessory question, I guess spoilers so:
  6. Again I think the target audience is another economic decision. 20+ women are more likely to have disposable income, be more familiar with Fire Emblem (based on age alone, maybe their husband or something plays), and can go out later. To be honest though, it's not like finding 20 adult women who know about Fire Emblem in a metro area with 35 million people is a daunting task or anything. I also think that Nintendo already has a very strong sales with the under-20 female audience (especially children: Wagamama Girls Collection, Animal Crossing, etc.) and 20-34 is probably one of their weaker areas and they are trying to show they are engaged in it. Especially recently Nint is being extremely aggressive with their marketing and FE is no exception. If the event is a (PR) success, they will probably have all ages events as well. Anyway it's just about the most ordinary thing for a bunch of girls to get together and talk, but when you put it under a sociological marketing lens, it starts to seem stranger and stranger. Everything you said about transgender/fluid is spot on. Just from a marketing standpoint they aren't a big enough part of Japanese society to be explicit about. It's not a 50/50 dichotomy, it's definitely blown out of proportion by a few but still alarming cases. It's a combination of many socially awkward people influenced by traditional gender roles that cause little experience with the opposite sex outside of family, and semi-frequent sexual harassment. There are still many all-boys, all-girls schools (from pre-k to graduate school) in Japan and many of those students grow up in closed environments with little chance or desire to get out of their comfort zone. Imagine you are a 22 year old who has never talked to any guys besides your father and younger brother. The only other experience you have is getting rubbed up against on the train a few times in high school and being asked by some drunk guy your father's age "how much" on the street at night. I'm not saying this is a common case all for one person but it's possible enough to happen (I know people who fit the description). That kind of environment makes a kind of omnipresent fear, and one person feeling that way or one perpetrator is enough to make it a big deal or societal issue. There's also a difference in what Japanese think is "dangerous" and what Americans do. Japanese think a group of foreigners or homeless walking around is "scary" "suspicious" "up to no good" etc. I've heard it plenty of times. The truth is, you are probably not going to raped or killed by them. ..Anyway hopefully something good will come of this Joshikai :D
  7. Stretch out the promos for now? All the other cards in the zip I put are 865 x 1205
  8. Not sure if this is needed but these are rips of all the Cipher cards. Promotional cards are samples and not great, everything else should be fine and easy to navigate. https://mega.co.nz/#!4ZoXnLDY!__VL0J8ybUAvMKLHQsRqT4wC-n1iCOydw3kka5aFP0w Card back and blue Lord card (needs a bit of editing, not amazing quality at the size but usabale) HD Card Sleeves! EDIT: Not sure if this is implementable, but the playsheet as PDF http://fecipher.jp/howto/howtoplay/FEcipher_playseat_all.pdf
  9. Interesting in trying some games on Skype. How exactly would this take place? Have camera like birds-eye over table with cards?
  10. It's just a marketing thing, so Nint can take pics of the event, stick them in a powerpoint with a bunch of colored graphs and at their next shareholder meeting say, "hey look how popular our new TCG is with women" and how they are "breaking new demographic ground" "stocks will rally" etc. Trans/genderfluid would only be welcome if they can fit the marketing image of a woman that Nint is hoping for. There are several places in Japan that are women only, or guys can only go if they are together with a woman. Clubs are usually cheaper or free for women and more expensive for men. Almost all TV shows only let 20-30ish women in the audience. An open restaurant I really like has a nice upper floor, and they wouldn't let me go up alone because they had issues in the past where guys were persistently trying to pick up the girls there. In Japan a lot of girls feel safer around girls, and they are less likely to get their legs grabbed or taken upskirt photos of. As for why that bar specifically, probably the owner is friends with someone at IS or something :p
  11. For Elise, you should be able to use her affect without having any colored face up bonds out. I think the "no same name character" rule is applicable to the entire game, but the necessity for a same colored bond is just a rule for the deployment phase. Although the terminology is the same, I think the point of the effect (and many others) is to be able to do something ordinarily forbidden by the rules. There's nothing on the FAQ about what happens if you have 0 cards in your retreat and deck. It would mean you would need to have at least 45 cards (no orbs) in bonds/deployed. It wouldn't happen unless your opponent was trying to help you do it by never attacking. I think IS just hasn't anticipated this situation ever happening for people who are playing the game regularly. I will send an e-mail to IS about these questions. They are very prompt with responses.
  12. Does anyone know how time phase passes in My Castle? Is it anytime you do something on the "overworld" map? Is there anything related to IRL time? Been enjoying My Castle more than I thought, I will post my code later.
  13. Looks like this, not holographic, however it is only available by participating in trial events in Japan. Post your cards when you get them and good luck!
  14. So here's what I have currently that I am looking to trade. Only listing what I am willing to trade, I have more cards. SR and R ONLY. Updated July 7 Willing to Trade Looking For
  15. Not sure if I should put this here but I was on Amazon and noticed they listed an official guide for Cipher coming out 7/31. It hasn't been announced officially yet but it's on the kizuna blog as well. Pretty standard book (show of all cards, deck strategies, FE background) but will come with 2x Enigmatic Tactician, Robin (Male) promotional card. The card will only be available from this book. Link and info
  16. The effects in question don't stack and the Japanese phrasing is usually ~している場合, meaning when this card is ~(doing something) This means that it only gets +40 at the time it's attacking a dragon unit. After that combat is over, his atk goes back to the regular 70. 1st effect is pretty specific, 2nd effect is phrased the same as the Chrom card above. Dark Dragon Deck will say S01-XXXST (XXX is the card number) or ST+ if holo, Awakening Deck is S02-XXXST. Only the cards that are 001 to 005 are not found in boosters. Other cards (for example Lucina) that are found in the starter deck AND booster have a different number, for example B01-XXXR for example. R will be changed for rarity, and + means a holo. Any card that says + on it is a holo (solid rainbow). SR+ is a holo (crosshatch, thumbprint looking) with gold printed quote, numbers, and maybe signature. These are the same card, you can see on the top image that there is a light crosshatching pattern to the left of Tharja's hand. Anyway, I was able to pick up the normal cards (30 yen each) to fill out my deck, which has been doing well so far. At a local tournament I got a bonus pack for winning a match, which had SR Chrom in it. I already had one so I traded that for SR Marth, which is now in my deck. I’m trying to see if having a deck that is almost half Marth cards is viable, and it has been so far, but needs tweaking (more lvl 1 units to rush.) I am seeing more people with Inigo decks which are turning out to be very strong if he can pull off the +20 ATK on next turn ability. Otherwise I am starting to see singles (all rarities) pop up at local shops, of differing prices.R for 800-1200yen, SR for 1800-2400yen or so. This one shop is a bit on the expensive side though, I will have a look at the others today.
  17. Not sure if this was talked about before but about the Marth, Lucina, Minerva DLC from the card game
  18. Multicolor is fine as long as the ratio isn't terribly skewed (i.e. 10:40) and you can deal with almost always having two face up bond cards or risking not be able to play characters. One issue is the support or other abilities that help out characters of the same color can become useless. Most people seemed to stick with a single color deck. I started out with a deck over 50 cards but ended up changing it to 50 to have more chances for crit/evade fodder. My deck is in the works of course but the idea is to get out bonds fast (Chiki, Grego), keeping orbs recovered (Robin, Morgan), and search discards for Marth. I have 12 Marths (including Lucina) in the deck ATM but I don't think it's enough. I was unlucky most times and had Marth come up as a support and be discarded, instead of being able to draw it next turn and crit/evade. Right now the max Marth/Lucina cards that can be in a deck are 20, and it will be 24 next month with the V-Jump promo. I'm guessing there will be a lot of decks with 24 Marth/Lucina for the people that can get 4 of the SR cards. I'm interested to see how decks like this will work. Anyways it was double elimination and I won 1 match and lost 2, both quite close. Played a bunch of free matches outside that and it was half/half, always coming down to the "RNG" of support value. Deck construction needs to take the following into account for balancing: -Amount of decently strong 1 cost characters for first few turns -Bad characters with good support abilities/values -Red/Blue cards, and cards that specifically support them -Amount of same character (x4,x8 etc) for more chances to crit/evade but more chances to fail support. Maybe will try some games tonight, need to see who is around the shops (still mostly Vanguard players) Exactly, from what I played yesterday there were barely ANY of the 4/5 cost SR cards out (of course there aren't a ton of them floating around yet but I was still playing with people who had already opened 6 boxes) besides in the bond area. For most of them, the effects just aren't worth it, and often they require a hefty reversal cost, and one of the same named card from your hand. For example the SR Chrom has a decent but situational ability that requires another Chrom card and 3 reversals. It's probably going to be better to save that Chrom card for crit/evade, especially if Chrom is your Lord. It seems much more viable to put out 5 low cost characters and spam Lord until a 30 cost card comes up, than put out one higher ATK character that can easily be evaded and destroyed the next turn. The support values usually went like this: 30 - probably tie 20 - maybe tie 10 - nope A deck based around upgrading to a strong lord quick, and then followed by a ton of 30 support units might be very viable.
  19. Been occupied with playing IF and the Cipher so sorry for late replies. Right, that Lucina card can't be used to support Marth and can't be out at the same time as Marth. It's pretty much just to be used for crit/evasion, or to put out when you don't have a Marth. If you mean every variation including the + cards, you will need much more than 5 boxes. There is only one + card in each box, so you will need a minimum of 14 boxes without dupes. If you aren't concerned about the + cards, 5 boxes MIGHT be enough to get all the different SR cards. Your biggest problem is going to be running into SR dupes, it's just a random thing. 5 card varieties per deck are exclusive, also there are exclusive foil cards in the deck. The + cards have the same number, but say + on the card. So Tharja is B01-080SR, and then B01-080SR+. For multicolors you need at least one blue bond out to play blue cards, and at least one red out to play red cards. If all of your bonds are reversed, you can't play any characters on the field until there is at least one bond of the same color out. So you need to be careful using skills that you don't lock yourself out of being able to play characters on the field in a multicolor deck. I kind of had the camera under me and kept checking back and forth to make sure I was actually filming, so maybe that's why I sounded nervous? I didn't think so xD For the next set there will be at least 2 new colors, if they plan on doing all the games they are going to run out of colors so I'm not sure what they are aiming for with that. 枚数 is very simply "number of cards" in this case. So a little bit about the tournament last night.. Most of the people there had bought 3-6 boxes and had a lot of very sparkly decks already. The winner's strategy was basically put out as many strong 1 cost guys out at once, pound lord with hopes of getting a high support, and then upgrade own lord as soon as possible. You really need to maximize your use of one turn especially in the end game, destroying one unit or orb will make a big difference later on. Most of the games I played ended with both players having no orbs left and winning by a 10 support difference. A lot of the game seemed to hinge on getting a card with 30 support. I played against a pegasus deck and while it seems like a good idea, it takes a long time to set up, and if you have characters than can reach the back or move from back to front, the pegasus characters are destroyed very easily, setting you pretty far back. My promo pack was Wrys and Jagen. That's about all for now!
  20. Here it is :) My booster box unboxing! To confirm, 4 SR per box, 12 R per box (one was R+) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MxfX9s7QZw
  21. Thank you! Not planning on it but I could, I am assuming someone else will melt the spine and scan it soon enough though.
  22. Hi all, not sure where to put this but I did an unboxing of the Special Edition. Enjoy. https://youtu.be/ajtxj3qrp5Q Gonna do another for the cards in a bit..
  23. Lucina doesn't actually gender or state change. Her rules say that she only takes on Marth's name, not gender, abilities, stats. Of course if she is upgraded, then this effect is replaced with the new card. 【英雄の紋章】【特殊】このカードのユニット名は「マルス」としてもあつかう All the SR+ cards are starting at 1000 yen. How far it goes up to is up to the Yahoo Auc denizens. There are 6 SR+ and 8 R+ cards in Series 1. The SR+ and R+ cards have a holographic background AND foil text. Other rarity cards can have holo backgrounds but not foil text. 6/14 of the + cards have the holographic background, foil text, and signature. This might mean that SR+ cards aren't as rare as we thought, just that there are less SIGNED cards. These cards are the following: Card rarity count breakdown is the following Also, the official site is all kinds of broken right now, it looks like a PHP nightmare. They also added an FAQ with over 130 answers to questions!
  24. I can't remember exactly but when both players know the rules and their cards, the games usually go pretty fast. A lot of times it was down to to 1/0 orbs for both players. 10-15 turns and 15-20 minutes maybe? Official tournaments will have a 30 minute time limit, and the winner will be determined by number of remaining orbs.
  25. Yep, this has been floating around a few days, it's complete (100 cards) and the images are ripped from the V-Jump mobile app.
