Well you have to understand that for fan translations, translators range far and wide. That being said.. I am JLPT N1, semi-fluent in Japanese, and have lived in Japan for a bit. (I actually just moved back yesterday). BrunhildeKnight is JLPT N3. Iris in a Bottle is JLPT N1 and works as a translator in Japan. PotatoPower can only read/comprehend game-related Japanese (but is incredibly accurate at that). Has fan-translation experience. KentoBento is actually Japanese. Hitomi is JLPT N2 (iirc) and is undergrad in Japanese (to-be interpreter). Orange/Razer also formerly lived in Japan for 2 years (I think they worked as an interpreter?) Lots of fan-translation experience. Master of Memes is at least JLPT N3. Shadowofchaos725, I don't think he needs explaining :p -- Note: JLPT does encompass the Japanese culture into it too. None of us in the group have any trouble relating it (and mixing it in). Also, let's be real. Treehouse's translation wasn't bad. Their localization also, wasn't THAT bad. (See: Takumi: "Well, mold my onions.") In fact, knowing the scope of their job, they did pretty good. The only thing is, we just don't like it.

It's highly inadvisable to modify your actual physical cart. It's just not a good idea, and if you can dump the game and edit that instead, why would you risk the integrity of the cart when you could just modify an exact copy that's designed to be a "sandbox" of sorts? And using a cfw (iirc) doesn't actually patch your cart. The tutorial will have you dump the rom from the cart first, then you'll patch that instead (therefor also retaining the safety of your physical cart).

You will lose all features on another 3DS. If you use HANS, you'll have to repatch every time you launch the game. (So your 3ds that doesn't have homebrew wouldn't be able to patch it regardless). If you patched the rom / generated custom cia on cfw, you don't have to repatch. Note: The cart can't be modified, so you'll always lose features.

Dump rom and generate xorpads (there are tutorials on this, the other Team If thread has some, and xorpad confusion can also be found online, SniperBear's video also was quite nice). Input both into patcher, download swimsuit file patch, unzip, tell patcher to use those files. Generate .cia with files (I prefer .cia, but .3ds is fine too), install with fbi/bbm. Permanently patched!

Well, please don't do it here. This is a support thread, not a vent thread, and even angry venting is not justifiable. As to the names we use, we simply used the names that everyone was most familiar with months prior to the release of Fire Emblem: If. And to agree with Czar_Yoshi's statement, it's true. A notable amount of fan-translations these days use machine translation, not real translation. Every translator on our team human translates, we have turned down machine-based translators before. (Heck, translation also requires knowledge of Japanese culture. Machines don't have that. And you don't need it for names.)

RELEASE - FIRE EMBLEM FATES: SWIMSUIT RESTORATION Thanks to the efforts of DeathChaos25, the first release of the Fire Emblem Fates Restoration Project is here! The patch file can be found in the OP. For patcher use, be sure to decompress the file before having the patcher read it! Our tutorial is still in the works (A picture version is also being made), so for those HANS users who don't know how to use it, please sit tight! (Or someone here can probably teach you). The patcher is just for those who're using cfws to install or play a version of the game. It relies on patch files, none of which have been released. When we release, it'll be updated in the title. A patcher-compatible swimsuit patch is already done, and is in testing phase right now. An undub patch (compatible with patcher) is entering testing tomorrow, and the tutorial is in the works. If all goes well, we should have a release by this Saturday! Note: The tutorial is for HANS users. CFW users will need to wait if they would like a specialized tutorial for this patch.
