  1. My take is that after the success of the SMB movie it will be a very Mario focused direct. New 2D Mario, Mario & Rabbits DLC gameplay, new Mario Kart 8 courses, Mario & Sonic before the Olympics, new Mario Party (which in the WiiU/3DS days was basically an annual franchise) and Mario RPG remake to end the Direct. They can show a lot of Mario and honestly this is more filler than killer, which would make sense if Nintendo is gearing up for new hardware in 2024. I don't expect any Metroid related news as it is too early for a Super Metroid remake by Mercury Steam after Dread, Prime: Echoes seems also too soon and Prime 4 is not coming out before 2024. As for a Fire Emblem remake, idk. We are getting FE GBA for Nintendo Switch Online in a couple of days, so it might be good timing but depending on when the remake is scheduled to release Nintendo might hold off the announcement until later this year. But maybe they just want to pump it out to fill a gap since Engage underperformed instead of sitting on it. Apart from the obvious Pikmin 4 news, we'll get some DLCs (Pikmin season-pass while we're at it, Splatoon 3, the mentioned Mario & Rabbits, Mario Kart), a few 3rd party games like Persona 5 Tactica mentioned in a highlight reel and maybe some news or an exclusive demo of Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D, since I think Square will have some kind of presence. If we are really entering the last few months of the Switch lifecycle I keep my expectations low, since Nintendo hasn't been good in supporting a system they are going to drop soon.
  2. I have Edelgard and Lucina guarding some of my DS/3DS games: And my crowded "Fire Emblem shrine" with all the amiibos:
  3. Whenever I am replaying RD, its unique structure stands out to me. It's both a blessing and a curse is an way, because while it enables some of the most varied map design in the series it comes with the downside of not having much time to level up your party. I'm currently on part III of my recent playthrough and have mixed feelings regarding the topic. I enjoy the challenge that comes with frequent party switching but more often than not I feel not in control of the larger picture. One of the main draws in basically every FE game for me is carefully building up your units for the endgame, an aspect in which RD is lacking due to the sheer amount of overpowered units the game constantly throws at the player. Sure, I have the option to not use them but the chapters are specifically designed for them to play a large role and let me tell you that each unit killed by Nailah and such pains my heart as I cannot help but see the exp as being stolen from weaker units. But at the end of the day I guess that's Radiant Dawn's charm, cause there needs to be someone OP to plug the bottlenecks like Haar in the part II endgame. What's Serenes Forest's take on how RD is split up in different parts? I have seen the levelling issue discussed here but there are more implications through the structure and I wonder how fond people here are in general of this gameplay choice.
  4. Always had a soft spot for FF mages, so I'll go with Y'shtola from FFXIV.
  5. For me it's on a case-by-case basis. If we are talking 8-bit and 16-bit remasters: gimme content. I have played these games before, their pixel art is often ageless, so accessibility options and added stuff is what will mainly draw me to a re-release. Early 3D games on the other hand? Yeah, update the graphics, please.
  6. True, haven't thought about that there are plenty ACA Neo Geo games on sale but ultimately I don't think Nintendo will be bothered by this if they still have the licences from the Wii days. There's been some overlap before with NES/SNES games sold in collections (Konami comes to mind) but, yeah, Hamster doing their thing makes it a lot less likely.
  7. I'm disappointed there is no renown you can farm over multiple playthroughs like in previous games. No New Game+ carrying over stuff like bond rings or support conversations seems like an odd omission, considering for example how much money you need for all donations.
  8. Yeah, but come on - this is like saying "fliers should be scrapped, because they die from arrows". I'm not the biggest armoured tank fan either but I think the emblem mechanic actually does a good job of levelling the field a bit. Using Sigurd to run away feels bad but, well, works. Made a Tiki-tank recently and the amount of HP healed in late game is no joke. Roy has "Hold Out". There are quite a few ways to mitigate the problem. I had more fun with tanks in Engage than in previous games at least.
  9. Isn't that basically the shtick of most Fire Emblem games? Exaggerating certain traits to make the characters stand out and then going from there to add a little bit more depth. I honestly fail to see a big difference between Linhard's napping or Bernie being a scaredy cat all the time and Celine's tea focus. And as someone mentioned before, Celine is a great character if you take in more then just a few early few C supports. I obviously haven't seen all the support convos in FEE but in my opinion they neatly fall in line with the above concept. For example Yunaka's conversations with Citrinne shine some light on her backstory .
  10. No, I enjoy manually setting up all my units. Automatically optimizing one unit's equipment may not always be the best choice for the whole party and often requires manual adjustments and redistribution anyway, so I tend to do everything by myself anyway. Though I think that it can be a convenient option for quick setups of backup characters in skirmishes or on lower difficulties. Definitely useful to have that possibility.
  11. I'm not aware of any channel solely dedicated to FE in polish. Found some let's play videos like the one below and of course reviews but no in-depth content.
  12. @Lord_Brand might also be that the input lag on the version you are playing is really bad. Though, fwiw I find MMX4 to be one of the hardest (if not THE hardest) X game. Sigma is just brutal.
  13. As others ITT have mentioned, the DLC does not add any significant story content. Yes, the additional boss fights are fun but I don't think they are worth the additional money, even discounted.
  14. Super Mario Kart. I was a god as a kid but modern Mario Kart drifting spoiled me so much I was struggling to re-learn the controls. @vanguard333 I feel you. Had the same issue, ended up using a Pro Controller, which worked surprisingly decent.
  15. I'd say the biggest difference was access to media. Internet download speed was not such a big issue as it might seem, mainly because the content was just not there. Instead of the now established social media platforms a lot of fragmented forums were used and P2P sharing was the go-to option to download new shit, if you could afford running your PC for the whole night. But going back to the access issue, just to give you a glimpse on how bothersome it was to get games/music/whatever - my family moved 2002 to Poland, where things like copyright laws were just passed a few years back, so piracy was still RAMPANT, which I guess was deterring publishers from making an effort to even enter the market. Nintendo in PL was non-existent at that time. Getting a game at launch? Yeah, good luck with that. A bit later some small companies tried tho. GCN/Wii games came with a 4x3cm photocopied booklet translated to Polish, which was glued to the box. For PC, Playstation consoles and Famiclones you could literally go to any flea market and buy games on burnt CDR's but those often did not work or were something entirely different than what was advertised, lol. Thus, rental shops were a thing. Moreso in the '90s, as they started to disappear in the 00's. Presumably because the rise of CDs and DVDs made it so easy to just rip and burn the media. Reviews in printed magazines had much more weight than online reviews nowadays, as they were often the only source available to get an idea of how a game plays like, what to expect from a new music album etc. Same with demos. I have a full stack of official PlayStation Magazine demo discs, a real blessing in a time where you would sometimes pick a piece of media only based on the cover art (yeah, covers were WAY more important than now imo). Communicating with your peers was slower. Texting, as in sending SMS did cost money, therefore calling your friends (for trivial things) was much more common than it is now, since at least where I lived most contracts came with a plenty free minutes to use. Oh, and for calls outside your country landline was preferred, as mobile roaming costs were not regulated back then in the EU. It was amazing to see the tech evolve in real time. I mean, I went from playing 8-bit Pokemon to Uncharted 2 in HD in a mere 10 years.
  16. You folks really think that the mural-lords is all we are getting? I can't imagine this being the case. Judging from the little info we have, I'd say collecting the main rings is a plot point, and may be required each playthrough. Any additional rings though can be optional recruits, opening up choices for subsequent runs. Like, there will be a Edelgard, a Dimitri and a Claude ring but you can only get one going forward, then you keep the optional rings for New Game+ playthroughs or use renown for getting the one you missed / did not choose. I mean, there has to be an Edelgard ring, right? Or maybe I'm just in denial.
  17. This seems to be a possibility. From the game's product page: "Engaging lets you inherit weapons, skills, and more from these battle-tested legends." https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/fire-emblem-engage-divine-edition-switch/ Meaning that engaging is actually how you build up your units. Engage with Marth a lot, poof, you can use swords and Marth-like skills. Not impossible that' how reclass will also work.
  18. Definitely a possibility. Route split sounds cool but my money is on something more mundane, like "you are the child of a blue dragon and a red dragon toothpaste-chan!", mentioned briefly in a custscene.
  19. I see a lot of potential in the concept. If done right, this may be the "best of Fire Emblem" game that Awakening was supposed to be, merging mechanics from previous games into one big, delicious hotpot. Seems like the classic FE characters will be used to customize and build-up your party, which is exciting, given how much I liked messing with inherited skill in Aw/Fates. It would only be consequent if this motif extends also to the map design. Just imagine the possibilities: a Fates continent with Dragon Veins, 3H continent with Demonic Beasts and battalions or stuff like unlocking the Time Wheel in the SoV part of the game. Furthermore, there is no indication that the social sim part (if there even is any) will play as big of a role as in 3H, which for my tastes is a welcome change of pace. Story and character design I don't care so much about, so I'm not super disappointed. Making the colours pop, the new characters super gaudy and the animations even more flashy I see as a means to distinguish the main cast from the Emblem heroes and as playing the strengths of the Switch OLED display.
  20. Finished Soul Hackers 2 the other day. Hard to recommend it to anyone else than hardcore SMT fans. Lacklustre dungeon design, no demon conversations (just a random recruitment fee in HP/MP/money or items), annoyingly frequent loading screens even on next-gen hardware - yeah, that's not it, chief. Though I have to say that this game's take on the press/turn system is really fun and some of the trickier battles make up for a lot of the shortcomings. Hitting enemy weaknesses contributes to building up a stack for an AoE all-out attack at the end of each round. At first that sounds pretty basic but as the game progresses it gives you more and more tools to optimize your strategies around using said stack. Each of your party members has predetermined strengths, so choosing the right demons to accommodate for that is another element I liked quite a lot (demons are equippable, you don't summon them in SH2). Also, I want Ringo's jacket 👁️
  21. Voted for Wario Land. It's cool that Good Feel enjoy success with their Yarn/Wool series but The Shake Dimension is still their best work, so I would love them to bring Wario Land back. Especially since the WarioWare games are getting kinda stale, there's not much more left you can squeeze out of the micro-game concept. Hell, even a Wario Land game in the WarioWare universe could work.
  22. Take a look at Valkyria Chronicles Remaster. Similar vibe to Three Houses imo, has permadeath, overall a great strategy game. And for scratching the Heroes III itch I'd recommend Age of Wonders: Planetfall. Although the setting is sci-fi rather than high fantasy.
  23. SanDisk extreme microSDXC 64 GB. Currently use it in a New Nintendo 3DS XL but should work fine on the OG 3DS with a SD adapter.
