  4. If there's any sort of beacon of hope on this dark day, it's really heart-warming to see support and talks of mental health from all over the world and even in Japan where he was nicknamed as Guile-kun by the Japanese Smash fandom. I also came across a fundraiser called "Flip the Switch" on Twitter and all the proceeds will go towards mental health awareness/research and suicide prevention. Never assume you know what someone else's life is like from how big or small their presence/audience is and it shouldn't be the deciding factor of whether they have the right to experience sadness/anxiety/etc or not. Mental Illness doesn't discriminate and it can happen to anyone. Take care of yourself, love yourself, but most importantly, cut yourself some slack. It's so easy to be hard on ourselves because of all the standards we're setting based on what's expected of us, but don't do it at the cost of your well-being and sanity. Behind every avatar and username is a human being who is dealing with their own struggles and emotions so always make an effort to show them kindness.

  11. Oohhh that would be kind of creepy and cool! Perfect for a Halloween release because of the darker turn that this game seems to be going in. I just hope that it won't be too much cave exploration because that would wear me down really quickly akldhaksdja
  12. I was in a call with some friends and I was like "SHUT THE FUCK UP" when the text revealed that a sequel was in development. I absolutely love short haired Zelda - it's refreshing new look for her, honestly and cutting your hair is symbolic in many cultures of leaving behind the past and starting anew. Since this is a direct sequel from the events of the first game, it could be Zelda's way of getting rid of her weaker self in order to welcome the growth of becoming stronger. Another thing that I was discussing with a friend is how I wonder how they'll change up the game that it will FEEL like a sequel because a bulk of the gameplay in Breath of the Wild had to do with exploration. The land of Hyrule would have to go through some sort of drastic change so if there is exploration involved, it should feel like you're going through a whole new adventure rather than it just feeling like you're just playing the first game all over again.
  13. If you find that looking at poses is awkward, it's likely coming from the fact that you might not have grasp of how anatomy works so I would say start there. It's one thing to look at a pose/reference and use it as a foundation, but if you don't really have an understanding of proportions and anatomy, the knowledge you gain from the pose itself won't stick to you as easily. Most of my references came from actual classes and anatomy books but you can probably find a lot of resources online - it's just a matter of where and how to look. Female vs. Male anatomy and body proportions (your elbows align with your waist, your wrist aligns with your groin, your shoulders are about 2.5 heads apart - that kind of stuff). Some people might say that anatomy is too general and sometimes it can be too restricting, but there still needs to be some sort of learning and understanding involved before you can find your own style and bend the rules. When teachers or older art professionals sneer or look down on those who find inspiration from anime or even cartoons, that's their underlying meaning of what they're really trying to say.
  14. Something that I also encourage a lot is to use references whenever you can. There's still plenty of people who think using references is cheating when it isn't at all. You don't have to do everything yourself or feel like you have to purposely struggle to get there. A piece of advice that I would recommend if you want to have better hand-eye coordination, a steadier hand, and just more confidence in your line work in general that I learned while in art school, is to do some blind contour exercises or drawing circles over and over. It sounds tedious but you're basically developing that muscle memory! https://youtu.be/NBE-RTFkXDk I often get asked how my line work is so clean and it's because I do quick strokes with my lines. It's all in the flick of the wrist! Speaking of digital art, I'd also be happy to recommend drawing tablets since I've worked my way up from traditional, to drawing tablet, to a drawing tablet with a display and there's a bit of a learning curve involved.
  15. I personally don't like the word 'talent' because it can suggest that one has to be gifted in order to be good at something. Bob Ross said it best: "Talent is pursued interest. In other words, anything that you're willing to practice, you can do". In my opinion, the best way to get better at drawing, is to study from real life. Now I know that might sound boring and like work, but you can learn a lot of how light works when you can observe how it works. If the light is intense, how prominent are the shadows going to be? How does light work for rounded objects? I started to get serious at drawing around high school when I was encouraged to draw things from real life whether it'd be objects, people, poses, etc. I'm more comfortable in the digital medium, but I've worked with charcoal, water colours, inks, pastels, etc. I think every artist has this inclination of wanting to be perfect even with sketches, but you're actually holding yourself back a lot by doing so and stressing over how things should look. It's OK to be messy, it's OK to have imperfections: it's all part of your artistic journey so don't be afraid and hold back!
  16. Nope - Lucky Crit himself tweeted out to him like "hey, in exchange for using the graphic I made for my video, tell me who you're voicing". Aside from the Famitsu scans themselves, they post more high res images on their actual website. If you look closely at some of the graphics, some of them are less high res than others (eg. Linhardt) so definitely not official.
  17. This may be a long shot and it's slightly unrelated to Edelgard and Cristina specifically but I think part of the reason as to why Robbie might have deleted his tweet about voicing someone in Three Houses, was because the graphics he used to show the cast of characters were taken from Lucky Crit's "Which House should you choose?" for Three Houses on Youtube. He essentially screenshotted/took graphics that Lucky Crit designed without crediting - or he might have seen the graphics uploaded elsewhere via google images. Always source your graphics/art folks.
  18. For a second I thought famous meant like, irl famous and notoriety and I was going to jokingly suggest Rena Strober because she made an account here to thank fans on her performance as Azura when Fates came out. Technically she's already in Fire Emblem ? But jokes aside, it might be worth to re-word the title to something like "well-known and active Serene Forest users?" since it's more to the point I think.
  19. Hey ya'll! An anime convention in Toronto called Anime North just passed and as always it was a lot of fun and I compiled all the photos I took of Fire Emblem cosplays, including the ones that were at the Fire Emblem photoshoot on Saturday! I took a lot more photos than the ones that are in the google drive but since there were lots of people crowded around, there were lots of awkward hands and heads that snuck into frame so I chose the photos that had the least of that going on. There's also a spreadsheet that I put together for anyone to fill out in case they see themselves or know of who was cosplaying who and to include links! [GOOGLE DRIVE] And something to add on since it was a really great pleasure to go to but a bunch of Fire Emblem Youtubers (Mangs, Lucky Crit, Pavise, Goosaphone, Ghast, Chaz, and Nimious) were the ones who hosted the Fire Emblem panel! Hearing about what got them into Fire Emblem, their hopes for Three Houses, etc. was fun to listen to and they all played off of each other really well so there was never a dull moment. (I know I've mentioned this to death on other platforms but it was a really good panel and I hope people watch the recording of it when it comes out!) I got to chat with them at the Fire Emblem photoshoot and gift them the Three Houses buttons I've made! They were all super nice, approachable, and appreciative! All in all, a really good time :^)
