Why did Ashnard want Elincia alive?
whase replied to Alastor15243's topic in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
Ah thank you, that explains that part. Also makes using her as a puppet a more valid strategy, since Begnion could confirm her lineage as well. -
Why did Ashnard want Elincia alive?
whase replied to Alastor15243's topic in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
They did get attacked before Elincia was found by the mercenaries. From the platoon sent with her for protection only Geoffrey was able to escape and Kieran got captured, pretty sure the rest died. They hid Elincia away in some shrubbery or something where Ike found her. (Been a while since I read this though, let me know if I forgot something.) -
Why is your favorite Fire Emblem your favorite?
whase replied to sinfonic18's topic in General Fire Emblem
Path of Radiance is my favorite mostly because of the worldbuilding. I also love the simplicity yet effectiveness of the story, and the characters are great. Besides that there's also the bexp system, the base conversations, and skills system. Ike is also my favorite lord, which helps in replayability (other FE's there's always the "oh I have to use this one again" moment, which made FE7 one of my least liked FEs). I have to say Three Houses comes in at a close second though, for many of the same reasons. -
Why did Ashnard want Elincia alive?
whase replied to Alastor15243's topic in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
This, Elincia's existance is a secret, not sure it's even explained how Ashnard came to know of her. Did the Crimean and Daein royal families have close enough contact for this to be known? Or was it her being given a royal knight platoon to escape that gave away her identity? I can think of reasons why Ashnard could want Elincia alive, but all would be just speculation. I don't believe the writers found it important enough to include a reason, or maybe one was given in the original Japanese but got translated out? -
There is nothing pointing to her having nobility ties in the game. If it's not explicitly said, assume they're not. Greil came from a certain amount of renown, but was it ever confirmed he was a noble? I know Ashnard was the first to give the opportunity of becoming a rider to anyone strong enough, so Gawain must have had some sort of title, but not sure if that means he's a noble. And even if Gawain was a noble, as Greil he was not, meaning Mist never was a noble. I'd say no. During the game he is king, king definitely counts as nobility. Pretty sure that besides kings/queens there is no nobility system to speak of within the Laguz communities. Where was it said he is the ruler of said village? I recall him only saying he's from there. As with Titania, this is just wild speculation, she's a commoner trying to pass as something more, but she isn't. Is that true? Is this said in a support with Tanith or does Sigrun mention this? That's actually an interesting bit of information I may have missed, as it does sound plausible. Well this one is completely up to you, do you only count people who are recognized as nobility, or also those born into it but then lost their titles? You can also ignore everything I said, your challenge your rules, how hard do you want to make it for yourself?

If I want more of a challenge is he worth using?
whase replied to James Marshall's topic in GameCube and Wii Era
If you want a challenge how about a Kurthnaga, Ena and Micaiah only run from endgame on. Ike can only take out BK and Ashera. -
Technically speaking, pretty much all my runs have been iron man runs, since I've hardly had any game overs or restarts in my 15+ runs. However, I do often use the divine pulse, but that's officially not an iron man rule? =P I even did a normal mode, autoplay run that was technically iron man. (I was only allowed to move Byleth, rest of the team I could only give orders through autoplay.) But that was way too easy, I should try that again on hard mode. (Though I'll keep using Divine Pulse because I like the mechanic.)

If I want more of a challenge is he worth using?
whase replied to James Marshall's topic in GameCube and Wii Era
Generally speaking, no. Besides Volug in part 1 and the bird Laguz in part 3, I don't believe any non-royal non-dragon laguz are worth using, no matter whether they capped all stats or not. They will have no ranged attacks and will usually need their first turn to use a laguz gem. (On easy and normal mode, it's really easy using bexp to have almost everyone cap everything.) That said, you're playing easy mode, go nuts, bring whoever you like most. Kyza will do fine if you like him. -

Is it bad that I actually like these ideas and that I want these in the Binding Blade remake? -
Which House Would the Past Fire Emblem Lords Join?
whase replied to Saku's topic in Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Okay, what route's war are we talking about here? Depending on what route you'd choose the war is changed completely. Since Edelgard is the one who starts the war, I'm pretty sure everyone would side with the church if they had to pick at the beginning of the war. -
Which House Would the Past Fire Emblem Lords Join?
whase replied to Saku's topic in Fire Emblem: Three Houses
...But the houses are based on geographical location? There's no sorting hat throwing them into classes or anything, it's completely chance-based on where they're born. -
I want to do an infantry run for all routes...
whase replied to Voiced's topic in Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Mortal Savant really isn't worth it imo, and there are plenty of advanced classes that are worth staying in for an infantry only run. I'd go with the following if you want to make it easy. (If you like some challenge however, go wild, think outside the box, take some unconventional classes.) -
Sounds like it could be done well enough, I guess I'm not too familiar with Marth's story anymore to really judge this. (Time to play FE11 again?) I know Altina's story isn't the most happy one, but I wouldn't call it a bad ending. Also, Altina did not have any future-seeing powers, it'd be best to leave that to Lehran or their child. I do wonder how that movie would pace though, sounds like the big fight would have to be in the middle of the movie for any of the politics afterwards to come into play. Or the battle would be before the movie and it's a romantic movie about the love between a Beorc and Laguz? Or mainly an action movie of Altina rising to the status of a hero ending in defeating Yune? How do you think this works best?

The Fire Emblem 3 Houses General Questions Thread
whase replied to Captain Karnage's topic in Fire Emblem: Three Houses
It's usually a good thing to do, but it is by no means a must. Bow Knight Claude, Paladin Dimitri and Wyvern Lord Edelgard are all really strong options. But if you want to get creative, that is totally an option. -
The Fire Emblem 3 Houses General Questions Thread

She might not reach the right ranks in time, but she'll get there. Petra's speed will make her a dodge tank either way. Her spell list also isn't great, but she'll probably have enough strength not to get slowed down by too much. Hmm, might have to use her as a mage myself sometimes, sounds like fun. -
An entire Fire Emblem plot made into a movie, I just can't imagine that going well. Even cutting it into three parts won't work for me, because if the first part wouldn't have a satisfying end, there may never be a sequel. I'm going to say something that may sound controversial; I believe Lyn's story would make for the best FE movie. It's not a complicated story, the cast isn't too large, and there won't be too many plotpoints that need to be cut out to make a self contained movie of 90-120 minutes. Only problem is Mark, let's just cut them out. My opinion changes if it's a series instead of a movie. For a series I'd love to see Binding Blade. Also, an FE movie would be different because it won't be yet another fantasy media using elves and dwarves, getting kind of tires from always the same fantasy "races".

The Fire Emblem 3 Houses General Questions Thread
whase replied to Captain Karnage's topic in Fire Emblem: Three Houses
It's not actually very difficult. As soon as you can, set the goals of the characters you plan to use. (Reason and Faith for females, axes and gauntlets for males.) If you promote units asap and maybe tutor them a bit, they'll hit the right ranks in time to promote. For men I'd suggest going Fighter-Brigand-Warrior-War Master For women I'd suggest going Monk-Mage-Bishop-Gremory (If bishop is out of reach, go for sorcerer) You'll want to master these classes too, since their mastery skills are worth it more often than not. -
The Fire Emblem 3 Houses General Questions Thread
whase replied to Captain Karnage's topic in Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Yes you can, I believe the button is X before you go into the seminar screen. (If not then it's R, I always mix those two up) Wyvern lord OP. That said I do believe dark knight suits Lorenz better. (Never had a wyvern lord Lorenz though) -
That is so great to hear! Sadly my cube has been delayed (mostly due to covid I think). I've been talking with a friend of mine about working on a custom set, I'll discuss with him on whether we plan to share. I believe I've also seen other people discussing a similar idea, perhaps I should see if we can bundle our efforts.
-
Can someone explain to me why there's no factchecking at debates? Only reason I heard is that not having that "makes for better TV", which makes no sense to me. Is this a political debate or a television show? (Or just a screaming contest?) Also, I'm sad that simply yelling over someone is a valid debate strategy?

Come up with a potentially controversial gameplay mechanic
whase replied to Perkilator's topic in General Fire Emblem
I like that, and it gave me another idea. Certain characters might decide they don't like their orders. If you tell them to trade away their last weapon, they will refuse. If allies start dying certain wimpy characters might turn into a green unit and start to flee the battlefield or even join the enemy. Or a healer might ignore orders and heal their support partners instead of characters they're less close with. -
FE:TH Maddening NG PMU - Verdant Wind

Not sure if this will make it harder or easier, probably both: Use Ferdinand von Aegir If you want me to make it harder, you can't let him use lances. -

It exists? O.O Does it work? Do you think it'd work for a game like FE? -

Something that probably doesn't work, but I'd still like to see: Instead of a general character level, each stat is a "level". So instead of strength is 1, your strength is level 1, calculations remain the same. Instead of experience to a general level, you gain experience to leveling up the stat used. Swing your sword? Gain dex experience. Avoid an attack? Gain experience to speed. Get hit by an axe? Gain defense experience. Etc.
