  1. Okay, a little late to the party, but let's dig into it here (and I mean no offense with this; this just me expressing my opinion):

    Spoilered for length

    1. In Awakening. Awakening =/= Fates. The problem being is the amount of throwbacks to Awakening, but that's a different topic.

    2. One of the most popular features that brought in many new fans. That, to me, is a bit disturbing. Fire Emblem is (or at least was) a Strategy RPG, not a dating sim. People who bought the game because of that I don't understand; they've got much better options for games like that. I think most of us here are sick of the "Waifu Emblem" nonsense that's tossed around. Yes, this may sound like I'm hating on those who enjoy it, but to reiterate: Fire Emblem is an SRPG. The "Dating Sim" elements are written and executed very poorly, and people who are interested in those types of games are much better off looking elsewhere; if that's someones prime source of enjoyment from the series they're better off looking elsewhere.

    3. If there hadn't been that many fans, Fates wouldn't even exist. Let me clear things up, here: the series was not in as much danger as most think. The borderline commercial failure of the Tellius games did put a good dent in it. Shadow Dragon and New Mystery of the Emblem each sold about 250,000 (and the latter was Japan only). Actually, if you take a look at the series GBA onwards, that's a respectable amount. Nintendo told IS to exceed 250,000 most likely so they could make up for PoR/RD. And I think if Awakening hadn't been quite as successful, then Fates would have been one game with maybe a solid story, instead of multiple versions with lackluster stories.

Anyway, as for how supports should be handled, I really think 6-10 is the sweetspot, with an even mixture of platonic and romantic options. For romantic options, (as someone who I'm to lazy to remember the username of suggested) A supports should end with the pair starting a relationship. I think that S should be the pair deciding they will get married, and not doing so until the postgame.

I was just stating my opinion. You don't have to agree with everything I say. I certainly know that Fire Emblem is and RPG; if I wanted to play a game with dating elements I would play an otome game. And YES, to tell you the truth, it certainly does seem that you are hating on those who do enjoy those aspects of the game.

And as regards Fire Emblem Awakening, yes it WAS almost the last game in the series HAD IT NOT sold as well as it did. This interview proves my point: http://iwataasks.nintendo.com/interviews/#/3ds/fire-emblem-fates/0/3

I have nothing else to say on the matter.

  2. I imagined he'd have at least some slight muscle to him though, if only because pulling bow strings back so easily is not exactly an easy job either.

Also idk, ever since I saw him, what I wanna do is like... I wanna see his hair down. I really do.

*wipes drool* Yes, me too oh my god. I'm going to try drawing him with his hair down, hehe.

  3. Takumi just has a thing for being confusing if the hair wasn't enough, his eyes changes color ever so often depending on the format, like sometimes it looks gold, other times it looks light brown, other times amber and other times brick red... His body structure is also really weird, his clothes are really thick and baggy so his actual body structure is pretty obsecure unless the Summer Scramble DLC is anything to do by, but even then it's kind of hard to observe because of the odd angle... Oh man I'm going to have a lot of fun drawing him...

Oh yes please do!! I'm going to try drawing him myself, hehe.

True, some of his features can be a bit confusing. Though I think the dlc suggests he's slim and he even says in one of his audios (I think it was one of his my room audios) that he isn't very muscular.

  4. Don't worry Thor Odinson, the game was released less than a month ago so I'm sure more Ryoma art will appear :)

One of my best friends, for instance, loved Ryoma and she draws awesome art so maybe she'll draw him sometime.

As regards Takumi's bow, yeah it's definitely awesome and Kisaragi's supports with Takumi suggest that it's quite difficult to use it. So the fact that Takumi can makes him even more awesome ♡

  5. You're not too far away from how I play the game. Send in a speedwing'd Xander with Tomebreaker followed by Takumi and let the rest of your army drink piña coladas in some Outrealm somewhere.

Hahaha xD Awesome!! So is the rumor about "CritKumi" true? I heard he gets lots of critical hits!! That's super cool!!!

  6. So I am not the only one hounding pixiv for fanart of him. The fact that he is so popular with the pixiv crowd gives me hope for eventual popularity polls.

I know this is just a pipe dream right now, but it would be awesome if they decided which Fates characters to put into Smash Brothers based on that. Takumi in Smash would be the greatest thing.

Shouldn't get my hopes up too high though.

Haha yeah!! I check pixiv everyday to see if there is more fanart of him (specially of TakuKamu). I also hope he can be one of the most popular characters eventually in the popularity polls, it'd be awesome. Takumi's not only a great character because of his personality and role in the story but also because of his radness as an archer *___* he's mega strong. It's definitely surprising how it all changed from pre-release to post-release. I remember many were really hooked with Leon at first but now I see many people captivated by Takumi and Marx.

  7. I can confirm that at least on Pixiv Takumi is the most popular of all the sibling characters by virtue of him having the most solo or with Kamui fanart.

The ranking seems to be Takumi>Xander>Sakura=Elise>Leo>Camilla>Hinoka>Ryoma

Yes, this makes me so happy!! And the fanart of Kamui and Takumi as a pairing (aka TakuKamu) is really good <3

  8. I love this boy. I love him so much. I make it obvious that he' s probably who I'm gonna marry in Hoshido. A useful archer? Fuck yes. Awesome design? Also fuck yes. Great supports (barring a few)? Yep. Awesome voice actor? Yes yes yes.

You don't know how happy it makes me to know someone has the same opinion as me and is also planning to marry him. I'm honestly tired of hearing that marriage with the Hoshido siblings is incest cause' it's not. And if they are uncomfortable they can always marry another character.

  9. I checked on the pastebin compilation but it seems they haven't been translated yet >__<

Well, as regards the marriage stuff and all that, people will always have different opinions. Everyone won't always agree with everything. But I think feedback and reviews are good ways to voice your opinions on games so that the game developers can see them and analyze the possibilities for the next one to be even better.

  10. A+ rank would be good but I think a large number of S supports can be fixed by replacing "Will you marry me?" with "Will you go out with me?"

Some supports in Fates already have this, and I think they are some of the best. For example, IIRC, Silas and Kamui's doesn't end with explicit marriage, just that they will "be together". A few others like Saizou/Kagerou mention being lovers, but no marriage partners. The marriage in the supports is implied, of course, what with the connotations of being together forever and such, but IMHO it's better than being presented with a ring and saying "well, what the hell."

And I'm not saying that S supports with marriage can't be good, of course. I love the Camilla/Flannel and Zero/Aqua supports and them getting married was one of the best decision I've made but the former pairing's supports are really rushed. Cute, but rushed. And I kind of liked that Camilla was like "eh, why not?" to Flannel's marriage proposal and it's like she's training a puppy.

Aah, I understand. Yeah, it would be better with some supports for the characters to become lovers and not marry right away. But I suppose (this is just speculation) the game writers were inclined towards marriage because there's a war and they want the characters to be close to each other with the strongest bond possible in case something were to happen and they didn't survive. This is just my interpretation but who knows, it could also mean they didn't think about it xD. But yup, lovers would be cool too :D.

  11. While I don't hate it I can understand why people do. The limitless opposite-sex supports makes a lot of them shallow and rushed, especially trying to cram in marriage for the S support with little to no romantic development. It also takes away from the same-sex relationship, platonic or romantic, that were present in prior games such as the GBA games, which managed romantic AND platonic endings.

The child system making a return in Awakening made some amount of sense, whereas in Fates it is clearly tacked-on for fanservice and gives another unnecessary reason for marriage, rather than well-developed yet limited supports, to return, which again gives rise to crappy supports.

Yes, Awakening was meant to be the last game, and it used all of its resources to make it as appealing as possible. It worked!

As far as we know, Fates is not the last FE game. Rather than focusing on making the systems from Awakening BETTER, it seems as if they literally ported it over into Fates.

TL;DR: Romance is cool! Marriage and children? Fine, in Awakening. In Fates? Unnecessary, and a little forced. Let's move forward.

I agree that some supports may seem rushed but, in my opinion, as MajorMajora said, I think you'd need an A+ support before the S one so that it's less forced and there's more development (And if it's still forced then the problem lies within the writing cause' there are many good supports with the same amount of lenght and they aren't forced). Same sex relationships were just introduced in this game. We have to take into account that gay marriage is not legal yet in Japan. I'm optimistic to think they may add some more options in later games.

As regards children, I agree that in this case it seemed a bit forced but they might have added it because it was popular in Awakening. I'm ok with them, though. Lots of the children characters are quite endearing to me, hehe.

Also, from what I've read, it seems the creator wanted to focus more on the story in Fates. Make the player actually choose and for those choices to affect the story (not like in Awakening where you had little choices and they didn't really affect the story). He said his goal was to make people cry with this game, if I'm not mistaken.

  12. I don't understand why some fans hate the marriage option so much...In Awakening it was one of the most popular features and it brought many new fans. If there hadn't been that many fans, Fire Emblem Fates wouldn't even exist. You know, because Awakening was suppossed to be the last game of the series. I understand that some supports aren't very good but there's no perfect game, right? The story is quite good, in my opinion, the characters have great design, the gameplay is very entertaining and you have a combo of 3 games to boot! Game developers always try to improve their games based on feedback from the ones who played them.

  13. Though I can't find anything with the opposite gender yelling at you when you enter their bath (which is really what I wanted to see).

As for the hot spring footage, you're best off looking through the footage of one of the livestreams saved/uploaded on twitch or YouTube.

Me too ;A; I hope someone posts the opposite gender yelling at you when you enter the bath as well...

Sadly, the only hot spring footage I've spoted from livestreams is the one from Himynameismaurice with Kamui and Leon.

I really want to see the ones with Takumi, Nishiki and Flannel...

  14. Those bath lines made me way too happy. Way too happy.

Has anyone seen Matoi and Grey's support conversations yet? I was a big Cordelia/Gaius fan in Awakening, (as well as Severa/Owain), and I'm planning on at least doing one run where the old pairings get a reappearance with their expies and/or reincarnations/travellers...

Hoho, I know right? I'm really happy about the hot spring option. Hope they don't tone it down too much in the localization...

As regards Matoi/Grey supports, it seems they haven't been translated yet. I'm waiting for Hisame/F!Kamui supports myself *__*

Now that I think about it...Kamui is missing very few romantic supports to be translated, wow!!! *0*

Seriously, to all the translators, thank you so much!!! <3 <3 <3

  15. Haven't seen them, but I got asked to translate one of Leon's lines by a friend who borrowed my game, which was something like 'I was here first, so have a bit of sensitivity!' or something like that. That's all I've got, though. i didn't even use the baths in my own run, so...

I see ;w; thanks for the info!!

  16. Like other buildings, there are three promotions, and the level of the onsen dictates how many characters will be in the bath. (Level one will have one, level two will have two...) Entering for a second time after encountering another character -- or other characters -- will show Kamui bathing alone.

There aren't actually any benefits of using it (i.e. support points or temporary stat bonuses), and the characters seem to be randomly generated. I went to check for the sake of answering you properly, and I got two characters with A supports and one with a C, for example. I'm not sure what the likelihood of seeing characters of the same gender versus another are, but as F!Kamui I've only ever walked in on males. (Granted, I only checked around five or so times...)

The dialogue changes depending on your character's gender and whether they are married to the other character in the onsen or not. Translations of the married quotes can be found here.

    Thank you very much!! :D

  17. There are five for each gender, with variations in formality, pitch and tone. You choose the voice from a grid that measures the level of formality and age, with the following possibilities:

    Male Avatar:

    Young+Dominant

    Dominant

    Middle

    Energetic

    Mature+Energetic

    Female Avatar:

    Dominant

    Middle

    Energetic

    Young+Energetic

    Mature

I see! Thanks for the info :D

  18. Can Soleil get supports with Fem!Kamui even if she isnt her daughter? If that's the case, Girl Lover and Mysterious Appeal would work really well together when paired up.

She can but only C-A supports. The only characters who can be married to same sex Kamui are Zero (if Kamui is male) and Shara (if Kamui is female). And of course, Zero and Shara can also support with opposite sex Kamui.

  19. I just finished a visual list of what supports we already have translated! I just really like spreadsheets, okay.

For anyone whose managing a support compilation, if you would like to keep this updated (cause I sure as hell can't) I can make you an editor. If not, this is still a good screenshot in time for translator organization.

    Lol, poor Saizou.

So Marx and Takumi are totally done (besides children supports) and Charlotte is done in terms of romantic supports (you can change sheets on the bottom of your browser to get to this and other support graphs).

Also, b/c I got my all info from the very long compilation list by KYHCAD, I'm bound to miss a marking few supports here and there.

Thanks so much, this is really helpful!!! Hmm I see, so in the third route the characters can support with others from their own kingdom and then 2 from the other kingdom (uuhh, I was curious about Charlotte/Takumi and Leon/Oboro but I guess it'll be impossible).
