  1. Yeah, like many others F!Byleth has grown on me overtime(reeeally didn't like her design at first), moreso than M!Byleth. And these cut scenes solidified my preference for F!Byleth, she looks much better in terms of facial expression and reaction than the male to me.
  2. I'll go ahead and use OP's ranking tiers: S Tier (Overwhelmingly positive bias) Edelgard Claude Dimitri A Tier (Strong positive bias) Felix Ashe Ingrid Lorenz (Lorenz isn't ugly you guys are just mean) Leonie Marianne Ferdinand B Tier (Positive bias) Mercedes Linhardt Lycithea Sylvain Dedue Dorothea C Tier (No bias) Petra Hubert Caspar Hilda D Tier (Negative bias) Bernadetta (her godawful voice really ended up knocking her down a few tiers. Otherwise would be B or A tier.) Annette Raphael Ignace F Tier (Strongly negative bias) No one looks or sounds bad enough to be in this tier for me yet. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that this list will change drastically once the game actually releases. Still, this was fun to do.
  3. So we can probably assume that we'll be getting some new info and a trailer at TGS in September, which is about 2 1/2 months away. But you guys think there's any chance we'd get anything earlier than that? I'm thinking that if we do, it could possibly be through Famitsu.
  4. Azura, Silas, Jakob, Felicia, Mozu, and Kaze should've been options regardless of gender since they're on all routes. Soleil is a given with how much she likes girls. Rhajat makes sense since she's some sort of Tharja reincarnation, who was infatuated with Robin regardless of gender. Niles was just kinda...random, and the implications of the abused sexual deviant being bi/pansexual are quite unfortunate, but he's handsome so at least there's that. The Corrinsexuals should've also been options regardless of gender. Reina and Asura give that older woman/older man option to those who are into that. Scarlet has that tomoyish look that a lot of LGBT girls go crazy over(including me) and emulate. Izana is feminine, eccentric, and wears make-up which, while stereotypical, does represent a select subset of the gay male community and appeals to those who are into that style; Fuga on the other hand is the opposite, very straight-laced and masculine, and would appeal to those guys who really dig the manly/bear look. Throw Flora and Yukimura in there too for just the hell of it to round out the Corrinsexuals.
  5. I always give my FE girlfriends cute nicknames ;). Just like my precious GF Mimi(Sumia) In all seriousness, I just got tired of typing out Edelgard's whole name XD. Edel is short and sweet.
  6. Finally got time to post my thoughts and opinions on the trailer. Pros: -I really dig the art style. It does seem very Persona-esque, even if it's not the same artist. It's anime enough to bring in the Otaku crowd, yet still subdued enough to not veer into Micaiah levels of facial proportions. -I especially like Edelgard's design. Reminds me HEAVILY of Chris Lightfellow from Suikoden 3, which isn't a bad thing. Chris was an awesome character and I made her my Flame Champion in that game. Claude's design is very unique and handsome-looking! Love his darker skin, unique hair, and messy eyebrows. Dmitri is the weakest, but I appreciate them making his hair look stringy/greasy, gives him character whether it was intentional or not -The armor design for females is great. Both Edelgard and female generics we've seen so far are fully clothed, as anyone should be for battle. reminds me if GBA FE games, where the majority of women were also more properly dressed for war. -Female Axe Lord and a Bow Lord make me happy. -Looks like Edel will have good stats from the get go. Hopefully it doesn't taper out too much. - Going back to mentioning Suikoden, the My Castle exploration feature is look very reminiscent of Suikoden 3 and 5. Which is also a really great thing. I loved visiting and just chatting with characters around my base, and I look forward to doing it in this one to. -I saw Vantage being displayed on Edel's battle display when attacking Mercedes. I like that they're having skill icons be shown directly a top it. Cons: -Weapon durability. Blech. Well, I don't mind it for generic weapons, but I hope they exclude legendary weapons from it and just make them harder to obtain instead. -Im actually not digging Byleth's clothes design so far. The pinkish white designs on his otherwise dark armor look horrible, the purple on his knife hilt clashes. I do like the sharp features of his face though and his hair style is fine. He has a serious look to him, and his eyes have a mature feel to them. Hoping Fyleth(F!Byleth, assuming he's a MU) looks good too, since Ill be playing female my first play anyway. -The cutscene animations are horrid. I severely dislike the choppy, janky work of Khara. It looked horrible in Echoes, and it looks horrible here. They should've gotten the people who did Awakening/Fates, or forgo CG animation all together and make 2D cut scenes (and have Ufotable animate them while we're at it.) - The UI is meh. Hope they make it more stylish later. - The backgrounds also look rather bland, But it's a good chance that what were were shown were just mock battles/training (which could explain why generics were being shown in place of unique units. Maybe it was training against not Mercedes herself, but her army, and the generics show her portrait to indicate that for training.) if Edel's dialogue before we were shown any gameplay has an correlation, so I'm hoping they'll fix that Worries: -I really hope they don't pull a Lyn/Micaiah/Celica with Edel and have her overshadowed by Male Lords. Take a page from history and look at female military leaders like Boudicca, Jeane D'Arc, the Trung Sisters, Nzinga of Ndongo, Fu Hao, Bouboulina, etc etc the list goes on, and have her lead her own army, make her own decisions, and don't let her be held back. Treat her like you treat your male lords. - I hope the generic models are just placeholders, and not how Unit Leaders with portraits appear. The game is almost a whole year away, so I cant judge so soon, but this is a worry of mine. I did write above in my pros another possibility of why that is as well, and Im hoping that my theory there holds true. -I hope Seiros really does end up being unjust and evil. Let her be a cruel, religious dictator like Pope Urban II. Don't make her redeemable/actually-a-good-guy-who's-just-possessed just to play straight the pure, motherly holy woman trope. -Having a dragon final boss is inevitable, but a small part of me is hoping they'll surprise us. - For the love of god, I hope they don't make Byleth a major/main character. Just let him be another unit in the military. The teacher angle sounds great! Having Byleth guide/teach the Lords about battle for game play and stat/skill building reasons, but not having him/her making decisions for them would be the best case scenario. -It seems like they're taking heavy inspiration from FE:Warriors. Which is fine, but the one thing I hope they don't copy from that game is the Support conversation backgrounds. They were the most boring looking and ugly supports in the series. The talk sprites looked way too close together and that godawful white border the had going on the top and bottom were horrendous. I'm hoping they do it like the Persona series, with the character portraits being displayed by the text, but the 3D models acting out what's happening in the conversation in the background. That's all I got off the top of my head. So far I'm definitely liking more than disliking, and Im pretty hyped to see more!
  7. I use https://www.nowinstock.net/ for all my Collectors/Limited/Special Edition needs. It's a stock tracking website that is live 24/7. Even if you are doing business in another tab, it'll light up and beep to alert you if something has become available or restocked. It's how I snagged a copy of Fire Emblem Fates' Special Edition and it is a god send; I make sure to always keep a tab open around major game edition announcements in case they get greenlit when Im not paying attention.
  8. I dont think anyone here has a problem with Beach DLC or holiday banners with skimpy clothing. It's putting it into the main game and trying to play it straight in the context of a weighty story with characters you're /supposed/ to take seriously that's the issue. Fanservice isnt inherently a bad thing. If done in moderation. Hell, I like the idea of having a My Unit(as long as they're not the main character), and I like S -Supports. But what Fates did was very in lieu with what the hundreds of trashy light novel/anime that are pumped out every year are doing, and that severely downgrades the quality of the game. Its why so much of the fandom has a bone to pick with FE lately(that and loli dragons *shudders*) I genuinely dont mind fanservice, even the more extreme types. I just wish it was relegated to DLC only, and not shoved in my face when I'm trying to fight a dragon or win a war.
  9. I had this idea whilst revisiting my old Final Fantasy Dissidia 012 game. In the game, there's a (now offline I believe) 'scenario building feature' that basically lets the player create scenarios to put on the Dissidia 012 network for others to download and play. These scenarios consisted of a series of fan created conversations between characters, with battles following usually after. The creator set the rules and limitations for these battles. I was thinking about it, and I would really love a feature similar to this for FE Switch or any subsequent titles. In regards to supports, It would certainly be would be fun for character building even if it would be non-canon, and I've seen Youtube videos of people making their own supports that are significantly more in depth and interesting than what's been pumped out lately. And in regards to battles, it'd be fun to see what interesting maps players could come up with. (though Im not sure how enemy units would work? Maybe a simplified version of user macros to set the actions of them, kinda like FF12?) What do you guys think? For or against? And if for, what other features would you be interested in seeing in a mode like this?
  10. - I dont want the Avatar to be important to the plot. Just another customizable soldier in the army. - I dont really care if weapon durability returned for normal weapons, but legendary weapons should absolutely not have durability attached. -No more my room stuff. Petting game that the west didnt get aside, I really didnt enjoy all the time I wasted inviting people to my room to get affection up and having them spew the uninspired lines over and over. It made my runs to get a 100% support log completion a slog. If this does return, I have a few ideas to improve it, but that'd be for another topic. - NO anime tropey characters. I dont mind mild tropes and cliches too much, but when they overdo it like Fates it just really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Particular tropes I dont want: -NO more character designs like Nowi. Putting clearly underage looking girls in lingerie with garters is disgusting, plain and simple. I dont care that she's 'technically 1000 years old', she acts and looks like an 8 year old. None of that - NO characters obsessed with other characters to the point its ridiculous, unrealistic, and perverse. No more Fayes or Camillas - NO incest overtones please. Not even step siblings. I dont even get squicked by fictional incest that much, but it's a seriously over beaten trope that the Japanese reeeeeally need to get over. - NO eternally praised protagonists that can do no wrong and get things handed to them for no good logical reason. No more Corrins and Alms.
  11. Have any artists besides Kotaro Yamada retweet Nintendo? Just curious, because I'm still low key hoping it isnt him that's doing the art (not that I hate his style, it's just rather boring looking to me)
  12. My most optimistic hope is a trailer with the title, some cutscenes, and some gameplay. Realistically, we'll probably get a title and a small cutscene that will show our Lordandsaviorjesuschrist as well as the love interest and possibly an Avatar with their default look. In non FE news, Im hoping for Octopath Traveler, SMT V, and maybe even some Bayonetta 3 shenanigans!
  13. As neat as that would be, I doubt that a major IP would do a shout-out so significant to another IP that the main antagonists are involved in it XD. I'm relatively sure the mages have different weapons for the sake of their boss battles having variety, and any relation to FE is just coincidental.
  14. If what Vandal_Leaks is saying is true, and the theme of the game is soldiers passing away, then along with Elegy being part of the title my hope is something along the lines of this. A 3 generational FE game. And when I say generational, I don't mean children or child units. I mean something along the lines of if Binding Blade and Blazing Sword were one game. Since full scale wars often span over many decades, Id love to see something along the lines of a 100 Years war. You start the game with the first set of units, but as they die/age you get newer units and Lords enlisting or being drafted into the war. The elegy and legacy of the fallen and how they affect and connect to the newer soldiers each generation, as well as the advancement and change(both technologically and culturally/territory-wise) from generation to generation would be really cool to see. Of course, this is just wishful thinking and purely based on the leaks of both the potential theme and name. I doubt Nintendo would go so hard lol. But one day I d like something like that.
  15. Im very, very confident that we'll get a Direct this month. Like the Gamerant article said, we have very little info on what Nintendo's plans for the Switch are in 2018 and people are getting antsy, and I think Nintendo knows Switch owners will be upset if we dont get information soon, especially considering the large amounts of units sold. People are gonna start returning or selling their Switch's soon if no big titles are showcased, and a Direct is the perfect place to do just that. Another reason I feel like a Direct will happen this month is because of the Jan. Mini Direct. If Nintendo knows the public is waiting for some big Switch titles for 2018, then they'd definitely want to use a Mini to get any remasters or ports out of the way. That way they can give new games such as Pokemon Switch, FE Switch, Bayonetta 3, SMTV, Yoshi Switch, and Project Octopath Traveler (not saying these would all be in the Direct, but just some potential titles that could) time slots to be shown off in a full Direct.
