  1. I just raised their weak attacks (since other than strong 1, all attacks involve weak attacks at some point, and I'm uncreative and use weak 7 all the time), add Topsy-Turvy if they have better magic and strength, Slayer attributes are hard to find (and I won't want to use the original slayer weapons for forging, because I don't want to lose permanently a weapon actually named Hammer or Wyrmslayer), and raise the weapon quality/slots and rare item drop rate. I'm still in the process of collecting materials.
  2. I'm guessing they didn't retrospectively add the other languages back to the Japanese version because they're technically treated as two different games, in terms of the system and publishing arrangements. Japanese Fire Emblem Warriors published by KOEI TECMO GAMES, and overseas Fire Emblem Warriors published by Nintendo based on the Japanese version. The latter cannot decide what the former should do (different publishers is a barrier, but given the nature of Fire Emblem, I think this will happen to a main series game too; for reference, 3DS being region locked notwithstanding, JP Echoes is also in Japanese, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese), and there's no incentive for the Japanese version to include other languages when its target markets (Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China) are so used to games being in Japanese, with Japanese voices and all. I think there's no Japanese language option for Mario + Rabbids either, and the JP official site indicates that their version will be in Japanese and English (and no Chinese or other European languages). Games like Mario and Zelda were developed with a simultaneous global release in mind from the very beginning, so that's another story.
  3. Oh, sorry, that is not the case. I'm not aware that someone tabulated this data in the wiki.
  4. I actually think it looks better than Hyrule Warriors, but I haven't played that. And I thought this game was too easy until I got into the later parts of History Mode. I've finished most of History mode with some level 60 battles hanging; didn't get the second Anna's Mementos in Story Mode and haven't unlocked level 80 battles yet. My impression thus far: Favorite part: References to other games in History Mode's extra battles. There are conversations based on famous scenes from, among the ones where I understood the references, FE4 (Lissa playing the "golden axe, silver axe" scene), FE6 (Elise and Iago playing Clarine and Nacien), FE8 (Robin and Camilla with Innes and Tethys' "I've got good news, and I've got better news" scene in Eirika'sr oute), FE9/10 (Hinoka and Robin quoting Ike and Soren), FE12 (Marth commenting on Corrin's lack of resistence, a reference to Kris getting comments on his stats from other characters). I think a lot of this humor will be lost to fans who aren't familiar to Fire Emblem, which is too bad. I like History Mode so much that I want to see more History Mode maps. Because of that, I'm definitely going for the DLC. My least favorite part is the occasional tendency for the game to crash. There are other things I like and dislike, but none of them really stands out. I guess I'm not picky when it comes to Fire Emblem games.
  5. Don't know if this counts as gameplay tip. Now that I've got Lianne to level 99 and have Celica and Lyn remain at level 1, I can compile a list of the amount of gold needed to level up the units. Using level 1 as the base, the amount of gold needed to get to the level is as followings: Level Gold needed Difference Difference of difference ----- ----------- ---------- ------------------------ 1 0 2 525 525 3 1076 551 26 4 1654 578 27 5 3139 1485 907 6 4689 1550 65 7 6303 1614 64 8 8979 2676 1062 9 11757 2778 102 10 14638 2881 103 11 18734 4096 1215 12 22970 4236 140 13 27348 4378 142 14 33094 5746 1368 15 39019 5925 179 16 45124 6105 180 17 52749 7625 1520 18 60593 7844 219 19 68654 8061 217 20 78390 9736 1675 21 88382 9992 256 22 98630 10248 256 23 110705 12075 1827 24 123075 12370 295 25 135740 12665 295 26 150385 14645 1980 27 165363 14978 333 28 180675 15312 334 29 198120 17445 2133 30 215936 17816 371 31 234124 18188 372 32 254599 20475 2287 33 275483 20884 409 34 296777 21294 410 35 320512 23735 2441 36 344695 24183 448 37 369325 24630 447 38 396549 27224 2594 39 424260 27711 487 40 452457 28197 486 41 483432 30975 2778 42 514932 31500 525 43 546957 32025 525 44 579507 32550 525 45 612582 33075 525 46 646182 33600 525 47 680307 34125 525 48 714957 34650 525 49 750132 35175 525 50 785832 35700 525 51 822057 36225 525 52 858807 36750 525 53 896082 37275 525 54 933882 37800 525 55 972207 38325 525 56 1011057 38850 525 57 1050432 39375 525 58 1090332 39900 525 59 1130757 40425 525 60 1171707 40950 525 61 1213182 41475 525 62 1255182 42000 525 63 1297707 42525 525 64 1340757 43050 525 65 1384332 43575 525 66 1428432 44100 525 67 1473057 44625 525 68 1518207 45150 525 69 1563882 45675 525 70 1610082 46200 525 71 1656807 46725 525 72 1704057 47250 525 73 1751832 47775 525 74 1800132 48300 525 75 1848957 48825 525 76 1898307 49350 525 77 1948182 49875 525 78 1998582 50400 525 79 2049507 50925 525 80 2100957 51450 525 81 2152932 51975 525 82 2205432 52500 525 83 2258457 53025 525 84 2312007 53550 525 85 2366082 54075 525 86 2420682 54600 525 87 2475807 55125 525 88 2531457 55650 525 89 2587632 56175 525 90 2644332 56700 525 91 2701557 57225 525 92 2759307 57750 525 93 2817582 58275 525 94 2876382 58800 525 95 2935707 59325 525 96 2995557 59850 525 97 3055932 60375 525 98 3116832 60900 525 99 3178257 61425 525 This is a rather weird pattern, I'd say. And the last few levels are quite costly, so I guess it should take a while to raise everyone to level 99 even though earning gold is quite easy.
  6. Favorite: Tiki. I like the feel of revenge when I get to completely overturn the situation in shadow battles. When all the shadows have reached the player's base and ready to seize it, Tiki can take advantage of the densely crowded enemies and use it to keep fueling her Awakening gauge. Least favorite: I can't say if they really are my least favorites when I have manually leveled them to 75 without paying gold, but it's going to be either Elise or Cordelia (or mage knights and pegasus knights in general). Elise because her attack animations aren't fast compared to the physical units (though it does feel good when you can make the gold stun gauge appear), and Cordelia because her aerial attacks just aren't very practical (Caeda has those cool triangles which makes me like her more; didn't use Hinoka enough to know what I think of her).
  7. Azura, because lancer on foot. I suppose Oboro fits the bill too, but Azura seems to have more potential for character-specific moves.
  8. I just realized that this was not the case, although I didn't have the time to write back (I was on transit to work). Don't know why I was under the impression that the first memento uses the same count as the KOs used for the ranking.
  9. I'd like to see characters from other games. Maybe just a single pack with just one Jugdral, one Magvall and one Tellius characters. Seth and Elincia just because I want a lance rider and a sword flier. Magic types seem to be just eye candy here, but a light character would be great. Maybe Cyas, just to have a relatively unknown, surprise character? Well, there's Cipher, which is an even more complete collection of FE characters than Heroes.
  10. Oh, top units as in personal tops. I thought this is about the most useful units, on which several sites suggested Ryoma and Lyn. Mine, right now: Lianne, level 87. I had to use her in the main story, and I kept using her with the intent to spend gold on the other less advanced characters later. Lucina, level 81. Used her mostly for the dragon effectiveness. Tiki, level 72. Very useful in chaotic battles where tons of enemies all aim at the player's base. Others: Caeda, Cordelia, Lissa, Sakura, Elise are all above level 70. Frederick, Robin, Rowan, Takumi and Leon are at level 45 to 55. Marth, Corrin, Hinoka and Camilla at level 38 to 40. Chrom is at level 25, Ryoma and Xander ae at level 20, and I've never used Lyn and Celica, so they're at level 1. Too many sword characters indeed.
  11. Path of Radiance, Chapter 20, after the battle: The Japanese version: The dialog isn't particularly funny, but they used somewhat surreal wording (ひどい有様, literally "awful situation") to describe the damage. IS has probably taken notice, and Soren used this line again in Radiant Dawn's Part 3, Chapter 12, again after clearing the chapter. Japanese: (I'm not going to re-translate this; the English script is accurate) And finally, the lines in question in FE Warriors: As for Clarine and Nacien, the original script is Chapter 4, when Clarine first appears. Replace Clarine with Elise, Klein with Elise's siblings, and Nacien with Iago (JP: Macbeth), and everything else plays similarly. Nacien's self-centric personality earned him a spot among Japanese fans, and almost every line of his can be seen as an in-joke to the fans. (Not going to translate this since the original is quite long. The entire exchange between Clarine and Nacien is adopted in Warriors.)
  12. KOs made while they aren't player-controlled do count towards this. This is unlike the 1200-KO criterion for the second memento in some History Mode battles.
  13. The first of Anna's mementos is always obtained by racking in 1000 KOs (total of the player's team; doesn't have to be the player's own kills). The second of Anna's mementos can only be unlocked after Story Mode is beaten once. Each mission has a different objective for the second Anna's mementos. You can check this in the battle preparation screen or pause menu. In History Mode, you don't have to beat Story Mode once to unlock the second memento, but you still have to unlock the first and second mementos separately. Each mission usually lasts about 10 to 15 minutes, but there are 29 History Mode missions total with Anna's mementos. The unlock criteria for History Mode's second mementos are: defeat 1200 enemies (counts only the player's kills; see the counter on the bottom right corner), seize 5 fortresses, or defeat 150 enemies with dual Warriors Special (press ? while in Pair Up when both characters have one Warriors gauge filled). Check the pause screen to see which one it is. See this Japanese page for an ever-useful checklist. Actually, this site has information for almost everything you'll want to know in Fire Emblem Warriors (except actual strategy guides, and detailed information on the last two illustrations).
  14. Do these: Some enemies carry Awakening potions; defeat them to attract even more reinforcements. Generally speaking, defeat captains and even more captains will spawn; and they come with mob enemies (who are the ones that really contribute towards the KO count) On the wider maps, use a horseback unit, preferably Leo or Elise because magic has better range On smaller maps, use Tiki's Awakening (preferably after she gets her Awakening time and Warriors Special gauge extended) Enemies spawn in a fixed pattern; memorise them These missions are actually generally easier than another similar kind of mission, which requires you to defeat 500, 700 or 1000 enemies within a time limit. You'll need to do so in 9 minutes for an S rank, which can be quite difficult depending on the map.
  15. If you have beaten a History Mode map, you'll be rewarded with a few more level 60+ missions. Those missions depict certain famous scenes in the Fire Emblem series. One thing I have noticed is that there are references to the other games too. For example, in the Awakening map, an extra level 62 arena battle shows Hinoka and female Robin doing an impression of Ike and Soren from Path of Radiance chapter 20. In Lyn's map, a level 60 defense battle has Elise and Macbeth play the roles of Clarine and Nacien. (Both links in Japanese; I don't know if those are anywhere as famous overseas) I haven't unlocked all of the extra missions, so I can't tell if there are more such references to games other than the ones in Warriors. But it's still a nice touch, albeit one that would unfortunately be lost humour to those who aren't familiar enough with Fire Emblem.
  16. You don't get a lot, because there aren't that many archer captains. I for example have 700 Captain's Swords, Lances and Axes and about 400 Captain's Tomes, but only about 120 Captain's Bows. Forging materials come from the corresponding enemy types, so your best bet is to find maps with archers. The Takumi battle in History Mode comes to mind, but there are only 2 fortresses held by archer captains. There's also the level 30 battle in the final History Mode map (in the middle with an archer icon).
  17. No. You can't take more than 80% damage if you want to get Rank S in History Mode, but that's not related to the memories.
  18. No. In History Mode, they have requirements like "defeat 1200 enemies" and "seize 5 fortresses". Story Mode has stuff like "don't let Chrom's HP drop below 60% and defeat Validar before Robin" and "drop the final boss' HP to below 50% within 10 minutes". See this post if you can read Japanese.
  19. You can set up a bunch of files (or a list, an array, or some other similar data structure) by leaving gaps to be filled later. They could have put Lyn near the end because they anticipated all the other additions would fill up the gap. Or they could have started working on the characters after having decided who to include. They could also refactor the whole program after they decided on additions and removals later on, even though it's a rather risky move (you could miss some references, and bam, NullPointerException and IndexOutOfBoundException). Thing is, while data placement can serve as an indicator, it's not a development log and should not be treated as completely reliable evidence.
  20. "Awakening-Fates Warriors" It feels like that even now. Not counting DLC, the Shadow Dragon lineup is very minimal.
  21. My two crashes each happened in Quality Mode and Performance Mode respectively, so I don't think this is a Performance Mode-specific issue.
  22. Time to show off my new Twitter account made for the Switch because otherwise no one would read it. My experience with this game is rather bug-ridden. There are harmless UI quirks like the ones above, but I have also encountered game crashes twice. In both occasions, the game crashed when I paused and unpaused during a Warriors Special animation. The game's screen would freeze, but the audio would keep going on for about 3 or 4 seconds, and then a Switch system message would show up saying that an error has occurred and the software needs to close. The worst part is that the second time this happened, I was playing the boss battle of the 5th History Mode map. I was about to finish off the boss and clear the map, and this just has to happen at the worst moment. 30 minutes of gameplay, gone. At least this isn't FE Echoes, and it didn't undo 10 floors worth of labyrinth progress.
  23. Just as I half-guessed, the NPCs are DLC. I'm completely okay with this.
  24. Both twins can use staves, and as do the Falcon Knights and Corrin. I don't know if they gain staff usage after promotion or if they can do it from the start, though. I think Rowan and Lianna have different attack animations. If the in-game description (and my memory) is accurate, Lianna is slightly geared towards group fights while Rowan's damage output is more focused in a smaller area.
