  1. Thanks for sharing and translating! That makes me like Shadows of Valentia more. I actually thought they're being a bit too faithful this time. They should have at least had proper resistance growth and give the magic and pegasus class paths an extra class tier for parity. But then again, my run's Faye gets Res like crazy for this game's standard (I'm lucky) and you can pretty much destroy everything at 20/20 without a third tier. And the improved accuracy turns saints into awesome tanks, so I won't complain too much. The injured AI thing managed to make them act stupider. Now I can almost-kill enemies and be assured that they won't fight back, even when they're magic users that could OHKO my units. And I can predict their retreat paths. One reason I was pretty thrilled about this game is its sheer quality (minus the weird game mechanics part). It gave me confidence that FE16 will be good. And seeing (almost) full voice acting here is very reassuring. I'm not really looking forward to another 2D game (I don't dislike them, though). There are many other games in the SRPG genre these days (including those from Kaga himself), so the high-fidelity graphics help make FE stand out. I actually miss 3D map units. Overall, I'd say they have done a great job mixing new visuals, music and story and old mechanics. I was worried that having a Gaiden remake is basically deliberately making something that won't be popular, but it looks to me that this is part of their calculated risk.
  2. I still promote at level 20. By the time you're there, your stats are far higher than the next class's base stats, and I find this much better than using prepromotes (who don't have enough remaining levels to catch up with the young ones at the end). Not worth it if you aim to clear the game as soon as possible, but that's just not my playstyle.
  3. i wonder if this kind of stuff can put the publisher in any trouble. It's unused, but it's still distribution of copyrighted files. I'm guessing not; I don't see Sony grilling SEGA for including unused Nintendo system graphics in a Vita game. Also, IS using an unofficial patching tool? This feels kind of weird, especially since IS makes 3DS development kits themselves. What's next? Using ROMs from online sources to make Virtual Console games? Downloading music from YouTube to make OSTs?
  4. You can't. For some reason, you can only re-order the ally listing (and indirectly change their positions), but not pick who to enter the battles in the first place. EDIT: Ninja'd. By the webmaster himself, no less.
  5. No. I don't "know" because I haven't completed the game, but while this game doesn't feel too difficult in terms of technical skill, it's more luck-based than the other FE I've seen. Whether the enemy witches warp is triggered randomly, and when they do and happen to warp to your low-spd, low-res members (like Valbar), be prepared to do the 3DS's version of the three-finger salute: L+R+START. (Or use Mila's Turnwheel.)
  6. I just made him an Archer. He lacks basically anything besides HP and Attack. The Mercenary path may fix his speed issue temporarily, but he'll be outclassed later on anyway.
  7. It's a Corrin joke. From your reaction, I think I've failed at attempting humour. I do honestly like Kamui though.
  8. I'm at Chapter 3, having cleared Celica's part but not Alm's. I'm going to vote for whoever I like in-game. Mae because she kills everything with her awesome Attack and Speed. Boey, Celica and Genny for being less over-the-top but still decent magical killers. So basically the entire starting party of Celica's side. Also voting for Alm, Faye, Lukas and Valbar for being excellent meat shields with decent Defence. And Catria for speed. And Kamui for generally being a better person than Kamui. That's 10 people. I think I should stop here.
  9. So a friend just told me that the requirement for getting the Lightning Speed is to clear the game in 500 turns, not 500 days on the map. I did a search about it, and this is what I got: http://fe-echoes.xyz/archives/21135825.html So basically, the requirement appears to be reaching the ending with a turn count of less than 500, including fights outside of the main chapters (dungeons, DLC, non-story encounters). Which means I should just give up on pursuing this badge. But it also means I am now free to grind without feeling restricted by the day count, which is good news because my Alm team is pretty awful.
  10. I haven't tried the DLC (and I want to make my first run without it), but I just found that you can stay in a dungeon for as long as you want. As long as you don't go to the world map, the day count won't increase. The enemies in the Dragon Shrine do regenerate, so you can just fight, retreat to the Mila statue, save, and rinse and repeat. I haven't seen regenerating enemies in other dungeons, but maybe it's only because I didn't stay long enough. (Ugh, I'm not used to using this forum. Quoting is more complicated than it looks.)
  11. Whoa, there are actual Greek words in the Warp Circle graphic? Did they forget to change font? (or convert the text to Latin letters first, for that matter, before the glyph substitution can take place) I remember the gibberish Tellius ancient language in Awakening's magic effects. Wouldn't be surprised if it's also the case here.
  12. According to this guide in gamesp.net, you can't get them because Clive isn't present, which is a prerequisite for getting them. You also can't get Silque in this fashion. Talking to her will trigger a special conversation, but she will not join Celica's party and she'll be permanently lost.
  13. (Yay, I'm back! And I picked up the game rather late because I was preoccupied with something else, but I'm now at chapter 3.) How manageable is it to get the Lightning Speed medal (in Hard Classic)? I already spent 74 days in chapter 1 (because I didn't even realize there's a day count and thought the days are ornamental) and 35 days in chapter 2.
  14. Well, I found my answer here. Link to Kawaki Chatei This page details a huge amount of references to mythology, pop culture, Fire Emblem and ATLUS. I missed most of them (even a few FE references).
  15. No. I could clear most of them at the suggested level. If not, they're most certainly beatable at the suggested level plus 2 or 3. The secret boss I mentioned was the only one that requires grinding.
  16. I just achieved my ultimate goal in this game: defeat the secret boss in Lunatic. Considering that I play the Japanese version and started last December (9½ months ago), I'm actually late. [spoiler=Boss name and tactic, although there isn't much to reveal]M-DEUS, I mean. After attempting to fight this boss with 90s in my stats and failed, I kept grinding for shards using the DLC map. After several dozen rounds of shard exchanges and raising my stats to about 160~180 with Ellie's skill at 200 (which is quite a bit higher than most walkthrough videos show), I just tackled M-DEUS like any regular boss. As long as you don't let the reinforcements suicide (and heal, in case of the Bishops) and keep lowering the enemy's hit rate (while having at least 150 speed), you'll be fine. Also, like the grinding process itself, Ellie's ability to eliminate all enemies is very handy. The fight took me 16 rounds, by the way. I thought griding wouldn't work at first, since the griding fights themselves felt like I only improved marginally along the way, and I had no way to test my speed because enemies would miss anyway. This is one of those moments when I think I'd have a lot to say, but not actually. I came triumphant, and the tension was still higher than that of any other boss, but fundamentally, the boss isn't fought any differently. So now I just have to beat the main story boss, then process to complete the game for a third time, and it's 100% completion for me. I said this before, but finishing this game isn't nearly as tedious as trying to complete all FE Fates support conversations.
  17. Interesting. Seeing how Nintendo localization works (NOA asks developers to actually implement the changes), it's possible that someone in Japan came up with that magazine reference. Got a few more (not necessarily entertainment-related): - UTA-LOID TIKi's TV ad calls her 電子の妖精, a possibe reference to Miku being known as 電子の歌姫 (Electronic Diva). - The vending machine drink that boosts the luck of all members (available only in the Fortuna office) is called マッスルドリンコEX, which could be a reference to Dydo Drinco. - The in-game description of the department store (東母デパート) rooftop says that it's at the west exit of Ikebukuro station, whereas the east exit has 西母. This is a reference to the real-life Seibu Department Store (the original branch, anyway) and Tobu Department Store. (Search "Seibu" in this TVTropes page.) Also, I'm aware of the other "generic" brand names in the game being references to real-life brands, most blatantly the fast food stores Ushinoya (=Yoshinoya) and Donadona (probably McDonald's).
  18. I've been wondering which parts of this games are references. Not being well-versed in non-game pop culture, I can only find three thus far: - Mamori's third side story is called "チャイルドモンスター金銀" (I don't know what it's called in the overseas versions), which is an obvious references to Pokémon. The actual story has nothing to do with Pokémon, though. - In the same side story, there is a singing contest called 金銀歌合戦, an obvious referce to the NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen. - At first glance, UTA-LOID TIKi looks like a reference to virtual idols in general, but now I think she's a reference to specifically Hatsune Miku. Her first side story is called "ちっきちきにしてあげる", an obvious play of an early Miku song "みくみくにしてあげる♪". Another (weaker) link is that the song Itsuki wrote for her in the third side story, 幻じゃない世界, is about Tiki herself, like how early Miku songs tend to be about Miku herself, although this isn't unique to her and other VOCALOID idols have songs about themselves. I'm under the impression that I missed a lot of other references. Do you guys know of anything else...?
  19. My favourite support character is without a doubt Tiki. I can't easily pick a favourite playable character, on the other hand. I can't say if there's anyone I like particularly in terms of personality. Mamori is good, I guess, for being observant of what other people want. Itsuki is respectable too, if only because he goes to extreme length to fight for his friends. Really, I like everyone. In gameplay terms, Ellie easily wins out because of her special performance that can take out all non-boss enemies at once. Excellent for item farming.
  20. Yeah, that's the one. The Master Seal isn't listed in the prize list, but you can get it. My experience is that it's quite luck-based (you can get two Master Seals in quick succession, or spent your next 200 Melmarks not getting any of the higher prizes), but if you're at the very end of the game, you can always bulk sell/buy your items to quickly get Melmarks. You should have excess money at that point anyway. Doing that « bulk buy → bulk sell → spend Melmarks → repeat » process gets boring really quickly though.
  21. You get 17 Master Seals normally, but you can get more from the lucky draw (whatever it's called in the NA/EUR versions). It's the rarest of all prizes, available from Chapter 5 onwards.
  22. Off-topic rant: This forum's editor is so quirky. Working with multiple quotes can be difficult. You're welcome. I'm quite surprised myself that I sticked to this game for so long. It's not like I don't play other games, but those games (like FE Fates) don't need any extra "promotion".
  23. You don't need to craft them. If you reclass twice, you'll have all class-specific weapons. [spoiler=Not really spoilers]Just remember that Lunatic runs cannot inherit any optional data (including items, levels, skills and carnage) and there's no way to switch out of Lunatic, so if you plan to eventually get 100% completion, it may be a better idea to start Lunatic for the 2nd run and Hard or below for the 3rd and lose one playthrough's worth of data instead of two. (Don't worry about the difficulty; if you have prior experience in Normal or Hard, Lunatic won't be too difficult.) You won't have enough keys. You'll need to complete a certain request to be able to open all locked treasure boxes.
  24. You get to keep any Carnage Forms you get from reclassing. You don't need to do anything extra to secure them. [spoiler=slight spoilers of Chapter 6]You're overleveled, but I think you're playing at Hard? When I fought him in Normal with a level 52 team, he managed to summon 4 times. 6-Star Prestiges and other Performa relating to the last dungeon stack up very easily. But if you're aiming for +9 in all Carnage Forms, you'll still end up spending them quickly.
