I guess we're not gonna get to the 10 I had in mind for this, so let's just forget about the idea. Thanks for those who expressed enthusiasm. I'm still open for MK friends though, comparing time trial times is fun too.

Sure, if the others are up for it, I'd be game. I propose we start out with a weekly speed GP though, just to see if things work out. I shall edit the friendcodes you guys post into my first post.

Yeah, single player is a chore to get all characters and cars/bikes, nothing more. I'm really looking forward to a speed only GP online. I've been racing a friend of mine without items, and it's incredibly tense. Trying to slipstream all the time, taking the inside corner bumping the other. And that's just one on one. Wíth items is fun too, but getting blue shielded right at the end of a third lap is so frustrating I really need the diversity. I hate that blue shield. And not just because I'm getting bombed by it all the time, even if I'm in last place I resent using it. It's a ridiculous item.

Cheap as in "obviously ganging up on the player", or cheap as in "easy"? I disagree if you mean the latter...

It's already out in Europe, so I already have it. Naturally, if you don't have it yet but are nonetheless interested to join, you're more than welcome.

Just checking to see if there's enthusiasm for starting a weekly GP. If we get around 10 people signed up, we should be able to have a fun race each week (assuming about half won't be able to come). I propose the following two types: - Speed GP (4 races, no items allowed) - Regular GP (4 races) I'd especially like the speed GP. The items are great, but the tension of having to rely on just racing skill would be a nice change of events. So, who's up for it? I say we get a few of us together at a regular time, switch friend codes (yeah, that'll be a one-time hassle) and have a weekly blast. It's probably best to join an irc channel while racing, so we can organize and discuss the races. I could update statistics in this thread, so we add victories and have an overall leader besides the weekly champion. Most of these things die, I know. But still, I'd really like a speed GP and none of my friends have a Wii. So if it dóes work out, and a little group is formed, this could turn out awesome.
