  1. That is a very funny shopkeep, I'll admit.
  2. But you have to commit once you go into a battle, right? At that point you're just hoping whatever you send into combat can square up. I see. Very well, then.
  3. For this game that's a pretty dang ordinary pose lol. Let bro T-pose to assert dominance. It's as good a strategy as any, especially with that E-rated def he has. ...Say, how are the numbers in this game? Are they like FE numbers where you get to 20 strength and go "okay so if I have a weapon with 7 might and face an enemy with 10 defense I'll do 17 damage", or like any other strategy/RPG game numbers where you go "awesome more numbers that are probably going to do something for me"?
  4. Wait, I almost forgot, the incest! Alain does furry and incest, but gay? Surely you jest! I won't lie man, the fact that Vanillaware does only the odd yuri ships, with zero yaoi to be seen, does not fill me with confidence.
  5. Dang... I passed by the local Cex and suddenly it ocurred to me, hey! Maybe I can find Current Game for dirt cheap overhere! Alas, it is neither in the local Cex nor dirt cheap. And I had to see Three Houses at a clean 60 bucks. Meh. C'mon, Wraith, that's if anything the only cool part of the system. Sure, they screwed over the gays in 2024, but at least they didn't make it a strictly "conventionally attractive white people" affair. You can marry the bird, which is at least funny. Only because the bird is female though - Alain may be willing to dabble in furry, but he draws the line at gay. God forbid!
  6. Oh yeah, when I was watching the game the deuteragonist was this silver-haired girl. Virginia, I think? It's a fine approach. Alain seemed overly milquetoast, though, which is a bit meh for the whole game staple. FE/10 there, I suppose.
  7. So she's basically as much a main character as Lilina is. Does she at least beat Athol?
  8. Of particular interest to @BrightBow Like a month ago: "my body hurts. Everything is pain. I am old. I may not be able to finish all I have begun." Today: "Okay so here's the finished remake of VS1." This man is a rollercoaster.
  9. It'll probably make speedruns of the game interesting to watch. I imagine people will try to find janky shenanigans to skip the entire game.
  10. So, Berwick Saga connections. You're probably right there, I'll admit. My apologies. Inb4 the entire Three Houses fanbase moves over to this and starts calling it the real FE17. But yeah, I feel like this game really benefitted from (accidentally or otherwise) appealing to a fanbase that's kind of starving right now, holding their hands in a cup and begging IntSys to say something, anything about the FE4 remake and getting nothing. Engage's relevance dying off basically immediately likely helped matters, too. There's no current FE, so this is the next best thing, and FE has a rather big following these days.
  11. It references the same thing Berwick Saga also referenced a few times. This really is a Kaga game in disguise lmaoooo Fair point, but... Perhaps I was overly harsh there, yes. Once again, to be clear, I never meant to imply it is AI art. It's just, well... Yeah.
  12. I mean, I'd be lying if I said I don't get it. Ocasionally there's certainly conversations that make me go "I really don't feel like tackling this right now." But I try to just... well, not tackle it. Still, this is a recurring topic, and I can understand being annoyed when I make it rear its ugly head again. Well, I don't really have much else to add, in any case. I got the disses out of my sistem. Think I'll just retreat to the solace of giving a cast of characters I like horrible tragic deaths. Today's a double-dish - Gerik and Saleh, step up and wave!
  13. v1.20 released! Fixed an issue where nomad trooper bosses wielding the recurve bow softlocked the game if they missed.
  14. I mean, I could say the same about you insulting the shit out of games you don't like all the time. You don't say "I don't like it", you say they're bad. And you don't see the thread as a whole start going "oh boy this again 🙄" when you dunk on Kaga for the 100th time or when you call the other guy Neil Cuckman - I guess because it's cool to diss those guys but not Vanillaware? The artstyle is hideous to me - that's what it means to not like it. If it looked good to me, I'd like it. I'm not saying they have to change to appeal to me, they can do whatever they want. I'm just saying I don't like it. Personally. Objectively, yes, the art is competent, but I thought we didn't like talking in strictly objective terms around here. And that's the last I'll say about that here, I think. Knowing everyone hates to talk about this, I probably shouldn't have bitten back with the designs when you started with Kaga. Sorry.
  15. Leaving the negativity aside - that's real cute. Luigi is well known for his sultry streak. How do you think he landed Daisy?
  16. Wait what? What do you mean? She's a skull wraith. ...oh. I was looking at her wrong. I thought she was a skeleton wearing a hat and a dress. It's just a normal girl carrying a skull... Welp. I am dumb. Even so, now that I'm getting a better look at her, her dress looks a lot better than, say, Amoretta's. And her body isn't terribly deformed for the sake of sexiness. And I love what they did with the colors on her. Yeah, I'd still call her a good design. An attractive one, precisely because they didn't go off the rails with her proportions to make her assets more pronounced. At least, in this particular artwork.
  17. Here in particular? Amoretta. Opalnaria, too. No exposed flesh, sure, but the boob-shaped shirt is only a couple steps removed from it. Bit less so in her case, but still. The rest are fine, yes. And I'll say, the skull girl is wicked. More of those, Vanillaware, please. "Nothing really here?" Remember what I told you about mastery level desensitization? Yeah. You can't tell me the first and especially the last one aren't sexualized, like c'mon man. You just don't see them that way because you're used to this kind of thing, it's like this in basically all the games you play lol. The ones you share here most often, at the very least. Oh I absolutely agree with you there. I don't find any of Vanillaware's uber-sexualized designs attractive lmao. Actually, I think the most attractive one I saw was Alcina. And that was immediately damaged somewhat when a flashback started and she was wearing two thin strips as a dress. Or Unicorn Overlord. That one's filled to the brim too. It's not literally all of them, you could probably give me a good handful of non-sexualized designs from UO (I like Liza and Alcina a lot, actually), but there's so many. So many. They are niche and having less weird art would probably help them have broader reach. These designs are just hard to look at if you're not thoroughly desensitized to this kind of thing. That includes a large amount of people. Having super weird art like this gives them a very striking identity, but by its nature, it makes them niche. This just won't be to most people's liking. I see your point, though, and I'm not saying they should ditch their trademark style. I'm just saying I don't have to like it. To me it's just ugly.
  18. Yes, aptly put. All mountain and a single mage. Challenge! Oh, no, not at all. Instead, you get to do that in this next hack. Yeah, Ruben Stones may have been a little out there for a rebalance, but it wasn't that out there. It kept the entire vanilla cast. Well, with one exception. I've talked about it elsewhere, but I would've prefered if they designed the map to more naturally allow for this. Like, a more linear map with Sailane at the top and Thove between you and the capital.
  19. Who even were you, man. From what I've gathered, the common sentiment is that chapter 2 is, or at least was at some point, the majority's least favorite in this game. Not me, though, I agree with you. Chapter 4 is godawful. And you've not even gotten to the really asinine part yet. I hate this. I absolutely fucking hate this. There's no organic reason to assume Dew can do this, because there have been no doors or chests for thieves to open in this game (and let's not forget, when this game came out thieves only had that ability in 2 out of 4 games released so far - there wasn't as much of a precedent), and the bridge isn't replaced by a raised bridge tile, but rather disappears entirely. Then the village just tells you, which is the mark of every good puzzle - when the game has to just give you the solution. And of course, if Dew is dead, you're fucked and have to spend 30 turns walking through an entirely empty mountain. It's just incredibly weird. Why punish the player like that for losing this one (really squishy and bad at combat) unit? There's no reason for this stupidity that I can imagine. It adds nothing to narrative or gameplay both. Or, just the same old guy model. Modern FE is known for having less generics, not more. It's expensive to make full 3D models. No seriously, but why did they use the exact same face for eveyone except this one guy? Where's all the women? Are they all pegasus knights here? Maybe that's the intent, actually... Two separate avoid rolls? Sure, sounds reasonable! This game in a nutshell? Ismaired lol. Ismaire deserved so much better. Her sword arm was nothing to sneeze at if the CC is anything to go by, and... God she was beautiful. No wonder she had a designated bossman whose entirely character is that he was way too into her. Legit one of the series's prettiest women. Such godlike design gone to waste. I would've rather had her than her son. I'd sell her son's soul to have her. This is not intended to be a clue to anything Also fuck I sound like Carlyle Plenty of conversations have been had about this by the community as a whole. Suffice to say: Nobody likes the forcefields. They're very stupid. Ch.5 has... issues. I'd still call it better than this crap, but... You'll see.
  20. I do have to agree with you there, too. I rag on them a lot but for better or worse, their traits make the others more memorable. This is basically just "generic high school anime cast."
  21. Which is fair, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, after all. I'm just saying, in my own personal humble and subjective opinion (perhaps I made a mistake in assuming this was understood), Vanillaware has a good artstyle, severely dragged down by some of the worst character designs I've ever seen in videogames. They bend over backwards to sexualize the shit out of most female characters (and male characters as well, I won't deny there's some equality) and it ends up producing some absolutely hideous-looking characters. Again, in my opinion. We're all entitled to those, are we not? And that makes them probably the least ugly designs I've seen out of Vanillaware. Still found the chance to wrap girls in tight leather or that doctor woman holding her breasts up for no reason other than to let me gawk at them, but hey. There's less of that shit here, which is nice. Oh, yes, there are bad male designs too. There's less of them, the bulk of them are just weirdly boring compared to the girls (Alain, Josef, Renault, the uncle dude, Adel...), but there's a couple that dip into the realm of weirdness as well, like that one or the old guy with the belly and no pants. Intentional weirdness? Sure, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. And hey I owed you a singling out after "FE and especially KagaSaga only has boring nazis for bad guys" Funnily enough, everyone with me on the call had different problems with it, like the sleeves looking out of place or her boots incomprehensibly having toes, but for me it's mainly the head and face. It's a really small, really dainty anime face on a really burly, really wide muscular body. It looks off. Her neck is almost as wide as her head lol
  22. I don't know man, failing to understand human proportions and giving every character the same delicate anime face even when it doesn't fit the body type are known flaws of AI art. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it is AI art, but this specific design very much gives me AI art vibes. The face is just jarring, it does not fit on that body. For what it's worth, this one is probably the worst of them. The rest don't give me the same AI art vibe at all, they're just ugly as sin. This one stuck out to me, though, from how utterly wrong it feels. Also you act like I'm alone in this but half the time I was on call everyone was dunking on the designs. These are people who enjoy Fates. These are people who like how Camilla looks. Vanillaware is just advanced-tier sexualization, it requires mastery level desensitization to see nothing wrong with it.
  23. In other news. https://suyu.dev/ It would seem Ninty has only succeeded in getting Yuzu handed over to better devs lmao. Fucking fantastic.
