  1. Coming up! I'm working on a few, I'll throw them in the bunch. Should be done later today.
  2. I'm hoping to do something a little productive and it's pretty ambitious. I wanna have an analysis of every card to be released, and have pros and cons, for new players so they can understand what makes a card good and bad. Also for more experienced players wanting to try a new themed deck, or try some new tech or even give it a try so they can reinforce and utilise their own experience. Hopefully the community will offer their own opinions of cards so we can have balanced opinions on cards and different views. I'm gonna be going in numerical order from set 1 onwards, so if there's a card you wanna suggest gets looked at sooner, post it! Otherwise you could be waiting a while >_> B1-001 Saviour of Archanea, Marth Rating: Good, Run 0 - 2 B01-002 Deposed Prince, Marth Rating: Bad, Run 0 B01-003 Crown Prince of Altea, Marth Rating: Staple, Run 1 as your MC B01-004 Angelic Advocate of Affection, Caeda Rating: Excellent, Run 4 B01-005 Wings of Restoration, Caeda Rating: Bad, Run 0
  3. I'm so disappointed.. If those dates they've updated the site with are to be believed, I'm gonna be missing any of these events by a few days, I'm in Japan late May - mid June. Not gonna lie, I'm tempted to push my flights back so I can go to this
  4. Sure, you could. But you could also build Ophelia too :P He has pretty much all the Tharja's which are probably the most expensive card outside of Elise 4 (if he even opts to run it) so he wouldn't even need to invest too much more tbh. But yeah, he could build a Corrin deck cheaper, especially if it's black female.
  5. You can skip Camilla in that deck >.> That being said though, I don't know if you can build any colour well without needing to invest some money anyways.
  6. Yeah, but he wants to build a deck based around discarding. Corrin F isn't going to offer him that. Otherwise, why run Corrin F (B) when he could run Corrin F (W) and build a better deck? Ophelia is a better option for the deck he wants to build. A 1 range, 70 base MC in a deck of Dark Mages who only make them a 90, is absolutely not better than a 1-2 range 50 base who becomes a 90 when supported by tomes.
  7. I think you'd be surprised. Fire Emblem is on the rise and is becoming very popular for Nintendo. While it's no Mario, Pokemon or Zelda, Awakening sold VERY well all things considered, and Fates sold significantly better than Awakening on release (5x better I think roughly?) It's one of their onlyfranchises that are on the rise, and not stagnant or declining. There's room for growth with FE, as Fates has shown. Releasing Cipher in the west will capitalise on the recent incredible success the game is offering them right now, and while there will be characters people don't know, the first 4 sets are all Awakening/Fates/PoR which are all localised games. This gives them the ability to localise other FE games and make a quick buck (1 - 6, 11) or use the card game to get people interested in older FE titles. Don't get me wrong, I'm incredibly doubtful this game will get localised. I'd love it if it did, but I wouldn't get my hopes up... Unless they localise it when the next FE game comes out, though that's a few years away.
  8. It's funny that you mention Ophelia, because her deck is essentially built around what you wanna do with your deck. So first things first, let's replace Corrin with Ophelia and make her our MC. Why? Well, what does Corrin offer your deck? She's a 20 support, which is fine... Corrin 4 doesn't really offer your deck much though. Getting to move a unit to the frontline is cool, but we don't need to do that when our entire deck can attack them in the backline anyways, they're not safe no matter where they go. Corrin is the only unit that needs them on the frontline. Ophelia on the other hand, meshes with the idea of you running a deck of tome users, she will permanently be a 90 unless she supports herself, but she's cheaper than Corrin (a turn 2 promotion as opposed to turn 3) and she has 1-2 range meaning she can attack no matter where she is. She doesn't REALLY need Odin to work (although, she likes Odin in the deck, he contributes to your discard deck as Odin 1 and Odin 4 can hit 90 consistently for a bond flip) Personally, I'd look at replacing Elise 3 with Elise 4 if you have her, for 2 bonds and an orb you get to retrieve 2 cards from your retreat, which is nice. Elise 3 is fine where she is though, and let's be honest here, the deck is incredibly bond hungry anyways so I dunno how often you're gonna be using her effect regardless. Foleo and Nyx are the two other cards that aren't really doing much for you. Foleo prevents your opponent from moving units to the front, sure, but the deck doesn't really mind being repositioned. If your opponent moves your backline forward, now all their backline is vulnerable, especially since your Mages will struggle to run over front-liners anyways (Henry, Nyx, Foleo and Elise literally can't run over a base 70 unless they support themselves) so they're gonna be sniping squishies in the back and making your opponent discard -- they're expendable. So Foleo kinda just ends up being.. Somewhat sub-par. Nyx is an odd one. She's a cost 4, so she's expensive, especially considering she's only a 50 base, which is weak. Her effect... Doesn't really give me, your opponent an incentive to attack her. Basically, if I kill her I have to discard? Well then I just won't kill her then. Because she's a 50 base, it's not like she's a huge threat to me anyways.. And if I'm running a deck with destruction effects, I can blow her up and I don't have to discard anything. If you put her on the frontline, I can either ignore her (Unless you hide everyone in the back) or if you force me to swing into her by making her the only frontline unit, and I have no ranged options, and no board manipulation, then I'll kill her and discard the least useful card in my hand, because I get to choose. Not a huge fan of her IMO. I'd say throw Odin in. He's a tome user, synergize with Ophelia 3, can be a 70 base for 1 bond which makes him a threat (a 90 attacker is basically a coin flip on whether you win or lose, especially in a deck where you always hit 90) and if you get super lucky you can hit for 4 orbs in a turn (Ophelia supported by Odin, your opponent having no cards and Odin swinging) I don't have a lot of experience with the deck, so I dunno if Shade 1, Miriel 1 should be replaced... But that's just my two cents at least.
  9. My Velouria 3. I absolutely adore that card art, and even with the advent of crazy good set 4 art, I still think it's one of the best. She looks so badass. Also, obligatory Cordelia mention. Cordy 3 (despite the fact I'm not a fan of the artwork) I was overjoyed when I pulled her for the first time. No Cordelia 4 yet, but you can bet your bottom dollar I'll love her when I get her too.
  10. Honestly, I've been thinking about doing something like this for a while, tinkering and playing with the idea... I dunno if that's necessarily front page material though.Realistically, what you want on the front page is something that Cipher players would be interested in, but something that people who don't play the TCG would be interested in. I think something like artwork, newly revealed cards, maybe weekly tournament wrap ups? Maybe have a YouTube series or something that goes super in-depth about how to play the game, so people can get a good grasp who are interested. Something you can do that is ongoing, and relatively easy to make content for if you need to, so in quiet weeks you have something to put up. But who knows, maybe something like rate a card is a good idea? Or deck analysis... I just don't know if anyone would be interested outside of the Cipher group (and even then, you're cutting the group smaller, because not everyone on this board is interested in building optimal decks, only using good cards, etc. A fair number of people are just collecting them.) General Cipher news is pretty sure thing though. Release dates for new sets, announced promos, new artbook announced, etc. Depends if you wanna try and do something else with it though.
  11. She's... Okay. I wouldn't say she's a bad card, just very underwhelming when you look at practical applications for her.
  12. Unless a deck is tier 0, a deck that is so good that the only way it can ever lose is if you use that same deck, there will always be some form of variety. People will always use different decks, rogue decks, etc. There'd be a mix of Marth, Corrin, Kinu, etc. Even if it's 80% Marth, that deck isn't nearly powerful enough to be tier 0. Using themed MC's is a pretty interesting idea for a tournament though. Say that everyone must use Charlotte as MC, or everyone must use Kinu, and see what types of decks people come up with. Could be kinda cool I suppose. I guess those sorts of ideas would have to wait and see how this goes.
  13. At the end of the day, unfortunately it would be hard to actually enforce any rules in this tournament. You could say no deck switching, but really how are we meant to know? What if it uses the same cards, but 5 Or 6 cards are swapped out. I don't think anyone would notice. You kinda just have to rely on good will. Say that only 1 deck can be used, and then hope that every player adheres to it. I mean, they should, but there's not much you can do otherwise. Regardless, count me in. It'll be interesting to see how I can play in a tournament setting.
  14. I second this.I personally prefer double elimination to Swiss, though I suppose it does give people more opportunities to play and get better at the game.. :S Dunno how I feel about switching decks mid-game either, unless it's a legal thing in the actual rules. I'd prefer to keep it as close to official as possible. Aside from that, I'm totally interested.
