  1. I think there was supposed to be another game after Dark Dawn (or whatever the latest entry was), but the sequel plans just kinda died off?
  2. Now that I think about it, while this doen't really answer the question, I'd like to see Itoi-san make a new IP series. I was going to say Earthbound, but Itoi-san made it clear of his intention to end at Mother 3. Come to think about it, I really liked how Eagleland had this nostalgic Americana feel to it, and how it is so real-life & pop culture oriented. So much more fitting as the fictional America than Pokemon BW's Unova is. I initially didn't like Mother 3 on the other hand, but I might want to give it a try again too.
  3. ...Now I'm confused. ...So the mainline games reckon Shaymin is a Mythical, but the spin-offs and the anime treat it otherwise. Kind of makes me wonder if GF should just remove its mythical status like they did with Deoxys in ORAS.
  4. Right, I haven't really played Legends Arceus yet, so I'll have to check that one. The anime seems to treat it more like another super rare Pokemon instead of a Mythical, though. There's even a few scenes with multiple Shaymins. What's to say that there can't be more than one flower paradises across the globe?
  5. Now that you mentioned this, I kinda wished this was a DLC side story in LGPE... Or maybe the next Pokemon Legends game? Don't think it does. A lot of anime stuff seems to do their own thing with legendaries etc. Entei in Pokemon Movie 3 has a different story than the Entei in GSC, for example. The legendaries in the main anime story are a bit more consistent with the games. Certainly would be a cool addition to an existing legendary Maybe make it a 1% encounter or a standard Legendary where there are Carbinks? An XY remake could definitely do with this. By that logic, what about Golem's, Electodes, or Foretress's Self-Destruct?
  6. Allow me to join the Rethinking soapbox for this. I know Legendaries and Mythicals are often tied to the Generations that they are introduced. There are cases that this makes sense - mascot legendaries such as Ho-Oh, Lugia, and Celebi from Johto comes into mind, as they are often tied to the region's lore. But there are also a lot of other legendaries and mythicals that aren't tied to the lore (or very minimally), and I think reusing them for future regions and explicitly making them "universal" legendaries, or even retroactively making them natives in future regions should be a thing. There's also very little indication that they are one-of-a-kind and that they can't breed, and for that reason, I wouldn't mind if they are stated to be multiple kinds of them. They don't always have to be levels of demigods. The Bird Trio: Let's face it, they have minimal plot relevance to Kanto, and just look like birds with elements. Their Pokedex entries only really indicate how they interact and influence the climates around them. I would have very much preferred that they were the roaming Pokemon in post-game Black and White instead of the Kami Trio (aside from the opinion that I really do not like having a Japanese-Shintoist legendary set in a US/NYC region), with Articuno roaming in Winter, Moltres in Spring, and Zapdos in Summer. Also, they're birds - they can at least theoretically migrate. My verdict: Universal Latios/Latias: As far as I have heard - maybe I've missed something - I haven't really heard anything that ties them to Hoenn's lore. As with the Bird Trio, they can also migrate too, and the indications of gender makes me think that they can also breed - just very rare and away from human eyes. I actually wouldn't mind if they were retroactively tied to a future region's lore, like how they were guardians of Alto Mare in one of the Pokemon movies. My verdict: Either universal or future-native Mew: While it has clear ties to Kanto, the RBY games explicitly states that Mew was found outside of that region (Guyana, South America). What about a Pokemon region resembling a part of South America? My verdict: Future-native Mewtwo: While it is a legendary of Gen 1, it's at least implied in the games, and outright stated in the anime (in Mewtwo Returns) that Mewtwo stays away from humans. Then there's its appearance in Gen 6 too. Why not expand that, and outright state that Mewtwo has been searching for secluded places ever since it fled the Cinnabar lab? My verdict: Make an explanation of how Mewtwo migrated. Cresselia/Darkrai: Again, maybe I've missed something - but I haven't really heard anything that ties them to Sinnoh's lore, and at least Cresselia (not sure about Darkrai) can fly/migrate. My verdict: Universal The original Regi Trios: They are notable for being the first Pokemon canonically used by a Trainer, both in the games, the anime, and the Special manga (Brandon), implying they're not as dangerous for Trainers, and there are already a few canonical places they inhabit, plus we have further Regis introduced in later generations. So maybe they're not Hoenn-specific, but multiples exist across the Poke-Earth. My verdict: Universal, and multiple instances Shaymin: Again, maybe I've missed something - but I haven't really heard anything that ties it to Sinnoh's lore. And if Mallow's Shaymin was a thing in the anime, maybe any secluded place with clean air works. Kanto, Unova, and mainland Galar (and maybe Johto too) are out of bounds for being polluted/urbanized, but there's no reason why Shaymin can't exist in Hoenn, Alola, or the DLC regions of Galar. My verdict: Universal, and multiple instances Meloetta: Bulbapedia does mention Meloetta's involvement with inspiration amongst Unova's artists, but I can't find any lore-based reason why this has to be specifically Unova. Kalos, Galar, Paldea, or a Poke-Italy/Greece region should work just as fine. My verdict: Universal, and multiple instances Heatran: Existence of known genders implies that they can breed (again, very rare and outside of human eyes), and there's no reason why it has to live specifically on Sinnoh as long as there is a Volcano. The only thing limiting its appearance would be its sheer rarity. My verdict: Universal, and multiple instances Diancie: Similar to my theory on Heatran, there's no reason why Diancie shouldn't be found in any area where diamonds can be found. Again rarity is the only limiting factor. My verdict: Universal, and multiple instances Hoopa: Now, for this one, I'd rather make an culturally Arabic Pokemon region, make it a standard legendary over there. My verdict: Future-native
  7. @Awoken DayniI thought the Terastal was a variation of Megas. Particularly the type change.
  8. Now that you mentioned it, maybe assign HM cut functions to any moves that is similar? Such as your Fury Cutter, Slash, Psycho Cut, Air Cutter etc? HM Rock smash function could be the namesake move itself, or Karate Chop, any of the Fighting-type punch moves etc? Surf could be an HM ability for most water Pokemon and a HM move for anyone else that learns them. I kind of had the impression that Rock-type moves in general are less than perfect in accuracy, but never actually knew that.
  9. Nice! All that unsuspecting bug, fire, and flying types will be nope-ing out from a petrified Torterra or Trevenant!
  10. If HMs coming back ever becomes a thing (And I really hope not!), I'd like to see that Cut, Strength, and Rock Climb are at least re-typed. Say, Steel, Rock or Fighting, Rock or Ground respectively. At least give them some use as supereffective moves, whether STAB or type-counters. Surf since the beginning of time and Waterfall since Gen 4 are more tolerated for that reason. Flash, if it ever returns as an HM, should at least be buffed to reduce an opponent's speed and/or evasion for the next 1-3 turns. I also like Brambles too. Let's face it, water-types have been long reigned supreme. Grass types can get countered by Ice-type moves and Electric types are neither exactly great in defending nor resist Water-type moves.
  11. The local newspapers (Sydney Morning Herald and The Age) here are pussyfooting about him too. And they're usually very good at questioning/challenging not only the govermental authorities in Australia, but in the US, UK, and most of what were the capitalist side states of the Cold War. Sydney Morning Herald even previously did an article about the document tamperings that the Abe Administration was involved in a few years back.
  12. Depends on the story, but I prefer consistency, and at least some effort in well-thought-out plot points of why things are the way they are.
  13. Sheesh, now we've got people calling in for a national funeral. I get that he had his achievements, but I really don't like how his notable shortcomings (Moritomo Gakuen etc) are being overlooked. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-07-14/japan-to-hold-state-funeral-for-former-premier-abe-nhk-says
  14. Unfortunately, my friends in Australia doesn't seem to be aware of it here. I've decided to write letters to the Age and the Sydney Morning Herald to point that out.
  15. Well that make it more bizarre. As a citizen over there, I initially thought this as not very surprising - well at least other than the fact that perpetrator had a homemade gun. Shinzo Abe had a few major controversies for the wrong reasons, after all, and there's an arguable case that he ignored the rule of law and procedures if we consider Moritomo Gakuen and the Sakura wo Miru Kai scandals (and neither got any proper investigations from the police), and the way he and his government railroaded the Stae Secrecy Act (特定秘密保護法) through parliament (National Diet). He had hecklers yelling him to resign in a middle of a election campaign speech in Sapporo a few years back. Oh and btw, it's actually the far-left that wants to demilitarize. The far-right (such as Nippon Kaigi, which Shinzo Abe is a member of) wants the opposite. Also, I don't know how much of this is true, but NK wants to return back to pre-WW2 constitution including removing women sufferage. English-language source below from my local broadcaster: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-12-02/nippon-kaigi-and-the-rise-of-nationalism-in-japan/6994560 Finally, he still had sway and influence as an ex-politician, hence explaining why he still appeared in the media and in election campaigns. Not to say that Europe of North America don't have unwritten rules in how one should behave and interact with influential people, but I believe Japan has a lot more of that to keep people in society in line. In my opinion it is part of the reason why whistleblowing, or social reform for women or LGBT is hard to come by.
  16. Oh wow, why Leonie of all people? Lysithea, I can understand when she's given an additional recruitment opportunity in Crimson Flower and a story-heavy support conversation with Edie on top of that.
  17. Actually not all that much. Lost interest, won't purchase: Tellius duology and their false billing with Micaiah. Won't play again: Fates Conquest and its atrocious story. Awakening for its lack of good gameplay. Might not play the original, but interested in a remake: Jugdral Played twice, enjoyed it: Elibe Binding Blade, Sacred Stones. Also Shadow Dragon for its value as the game that started it all. Will play again at some point: Three Houses. Looking forward to Verdant Wind next. But geez, as much as I'm enjoying the story, the whole thing is a slog to get through.
  18. And this is why I lost interest in purchasing the Tellius games (and Shadows if Valentia for that matter). Aside from the games now costing an arm and a leg. She and Ike really gives me the impression that RD pretends to be not b/w when it still is, especially with Ike.
  19. Pokemon/Sim City - Basically you have to create the Trainer's Routes and populate the settlements, something similar to Black 2's Join Avenue, except much bigger in scale. Oh and you get to train Gym Leaders too. As your city grows, more and more of past characters from the series come and visit. Doubtful it would happen, considering the amount of characters you have to create, in addition to the all-star nature already done by Pokemon Masters...
  20. I would also prefer F-Zero. The thing I found with the little I play was that it didn't rely anywhere near as much on borderline cheating CPUs like recent Mario Kart entries are doing. If I screwed up in F-Zero, that was it. The difficulty came more in the tracks themselves - once I practiced, then I could actually win, unlike how luck-based higher difficulties in Mario Karo become. Unless if they change 100-50cc Grand Prix in Mario Kart to be a lot fairer and strategic (read: more basic items even in lower ranks for everyone as the added difficulty and force you to actually practice instead on relying on cheap items and ban item loss altogether) I'll have to say Mario Kart no longer has a good single-player mode. Keep the item-fest in multiplayer mode. Finally, it would be nice to tie-in the story between the main series and FZ Advance that was set 25 years later. Tell me what happened between then and now. Did Captain Falcon retire, or did he pass away?
  21. To be honest, none. Because every franchise that I have played had either some stinker entries or massive turn-off moments (or both) that taints my view. One franchise in particular I now mostly avoid. And yes, both Pokemon and Fire Emblem have got said stinker moments. It's just that out of the franchises I've extensively played, they have the least amount of stinkers. The former has Unamerican-BW and fake-Kyushu-RSE/ORAS that makes me roll my eyes at the region and setting. The latter had SoV and Tellius duology turning me off, and Fates as one of my biggest stinkers. Though, Earthbound might be the closest to being a favorite - I didn't really like Mother 3 at the time I played, but I'm starting to think that I've been underrating that. (EB Beginnings and EB proper were awesome.) The few entries I played in F-Zero was also quite fun. The ones that don't, well that's actually because I haven't played or known them as much.
  22. Banned for apparently training a dunce Salamence. Okay, unbanned, as you notified your movements lol
  23. Banned for slacking off in your duties as an Adrestian LOL.
  24. Was this created during World War 2? Seems like Dadaism meets nihilism. Beware: Spoilers galore for Pokemon Legends Arceus! This one is 13 minutes long, so I say just listen to the first four minutes. (For all real intents and purposes, however, if you don't care about the spoilers, I'd strongly recommend watching the entire thing. It's super-entertaining.)
