  1. I mean, you can see the player army fighting "West Church Soldiers" in the overview trailer so the signs are already there, but on the bright side perhaps it's too early to tell. Maybe one of the factions has an objective that necessitates fighting through a church-restricted area, or perhaps the specification of "west" implies an eventual schism between members within the church of Seiros (this idea sounds like it could be really interesting when I say it out loud!).
  2. A quick reminder to everyone who says that the’re on the fence or their opinions might change... that’s what makes this fun! I’m certainly not saying anyone who clicks on this is obligated to vote, but this really doesn’t have to reflect what you pick when you get the game at all. I think it’s your data that will make a potential follow up poll the most interesting, so don’t be afraid to let your whim take over! :P
  3. With Fire Emblem Three Houses revealing a faction choice to be made within the game, I thought it would be fun to take a poll of our first reaction to the titular houses. If nothing else, I'd like to get these reactions on record so we can look back on them and say "I CAN'T BELIEVE I SAID THAT!" once we've got the game in our hands. As for my vote, I'm picking the Blue Lions because: 1. Slapping "holy" in front of your country's title makes me notice it more. 2. They seem to have the least amount of surface level appeal overall, and that intrigues me. 3. It's not Fire Emblem if your color isn't blue!
  4. Boxboy! and Boxgirl! was my pleasant surprise of the direct. It's one of the only game series I've played every entry in, and I'd LOVE to be able to share the fun experiences of these puzzles with a friend! Fire Emblem Three Houses looks really exciting too, with the competing houses theme looking like it could lead to multiple endings and interesting dynamics. It's also a blessing that I'll be able to play the game on summer break too instead of having to wait and feel like I'm missing out. My one pessimist declaration: I don't mind the school setting to be honest, but in light of that setting if marriage and children become a thing I'm going make IS sit in the corner and think about what they did. I might go discuss this game more in a Three Houses thread once I've analysed it more.
  5. My favorite class in these games is easily cleric. With all the options at their disposal you can play them any way you want... but I just get a natural high from healing like there's no tomorrow. I get kinda insecure at the though of role-playing a devout follower of a fake religion though and wound up making them all Catholics, which lead to some memorable lines too. Paladins are also great fun, and Warlock translates into my head as "magical girl parodies" and I wanna play one sometime to experiment with the concept. I have a hard time picking between which system I like best, because 5e is easy to play and it's easy to find people to play it with, but I learned the game on Pathfinder and the sheer depth of customization in that system is so, so good.
  6. I've been busy as well so whoops on replying to your Monday post but yes I'm still around and busy but I'll do my best to check in.
  7. School starts for me this week, and I'm super excited to get back to it! Been way too long since I've had to do anything truly mentally demanding.
  8. Tea. That's about it. I prefer to keep by body mostly untouched by these sorts of things.
  9. I'm glad someone put this into words. I've been meaning to replay my Pokemon games, and while that's a project on the back burner, I've found myself without much motivation to play through Pokemon Sun due to its slow start and crazy difficulty spikes, but my play-though of Pokemon Black has been almost more enthralling than when i originally played it, likely since I'm old enough to appreciate the significance of Team Plasma's ideology and the character arcs of N and Bianca.
  10. The strategist nodded. "Alright, I'll come at it from above! Once it's pinned, go in!" The two dashed forth towards their foe. Koen ran a little faster and got to range first. The turtle attempted to slam into the monster hunter, but he leapt into the air before any harm could be done. As he descended, his longsword landed a clean blow, stunning the creature. Gull rushed in and struck with all his strength behind his cutlass. He swung true, and in and instant, the foe flew off into the skies above, and burst into a pale gray light. Koen took a few deep breaths, and sheathed his weapon. He looked back to the sky, and saw a light floating back towards them. There was a second of hesitation, but it just floated gently in front of him. Peering in close, he could see a little blue fish-esque creature softly going, "Woo.. Wooper..." This form of light... also the result of that day? He guided the spirit so Gull could see it. "It seems harmless in this state. Maybe it even wants to stay close by. I think we should bring it along just in case we can learn something from it."
  11. After some time of traveling, Koen and Gull were close to reaching the Central River delta. Koen found his new partner to be more aggressive than he had anticipated, but ultimately thought their contrasting dispositions would wind up being an asset in the long run. He looked out onto the waters once again, but saw something different this time. A shadow danced along the surface. "Stop." Koen said, his hand protectively in front of Gull. "I think an enemy might be lurking there." What could it be? A merman perhaps? In that case... He reached for his belt and grasped a vial of holy water, for he knew the monstrosity he predicted to be adverse to flames. He waited a moment, then the shadow rushed towards land and sprung from the waters. It was a turtle, sink blue in hue with a tough-looking brown shell. Most concerning, its eyes glowed with red, unnatural light. The turtle ran towards the pair quickly. Koen uttered a quiet prayer in a foreign tongue, then splashed the water on the ground, which burst in blue, purifying flame. Despite it's blaze though, the animal ran bravely through it and suffered little knock-back before raging forward again. Something began to froth in it's mouth. Worried, he turned to his partner...
  12. "Good to meet you, Gull." Koen returned to his feet and looked off into the horizon. "At present, I've been searching for other survivors, and you make the first. I believe I will be heading north to plan my next move. If a pirate such as yourself sees fit to accompany me, it might make the journey safer for the both of us." He took a few steps forward, then looked back, awaiting Gull's response.
  13. At the youth's confident remark, Koen couldn't help but laugh a little. But a quick glance at the cutlass poking out from behind his back signaled that his claim, while still likely exaggerated, wasn't baseless. He gave him the benefit of the doubt. "I can carry myself in battle certainly, although I'd hate to cross blades with a warrior like you!" Another bit of laughter came over him, then Koen took to one knee so that the boy could reach his hand and held it out. "My name is Koen Belmont. It's a blessing to have met you."
  14. (The coast, nearby Gull's location) The sea crashed upon the land gently, with countless rolling waves in the distance rising and falling. A beautiful sight to be sure, but also somber, something of a requiem for the world around it. For the sea reflected the world's vastness accurately, but the vibrant motion of the waves showed only a memory of the life to which the world played host. The world was still after that day, save for the few souls who still roamed it. Koen Belmont walked along the shore, taking respite in the calm sounds of his surrounding, and sorting through his thoughts. It all happened so quickly, at once his family and friends with him, gone the next moment. He had always thought his greatest challenge would be the arrival of dark forces, not the absence of his allies, and yet he wondered what it would take to feel this much confusion and worry in his life again. But Koen clung to hope that if his humble self was spared in the chaos, then surely there must be others, ones whom his strengths might join to set this world right. The search hadn't been an easy one but finally, amidst the midday tides, there was driftwood deposited along the beach. Koen's pace quickened, eager to check the remains for signs of survivors. He didn't end up searching it though, because when he crossed enough distance, there stood a boy. Their eyes met and there was a moment of silent rapture at this great boon. Then Koen hailed him, "Young man, how are you doing?"
  15. Sure thing! I like the idea of these parent characters having relationships established before the events of the game, and Ike and Richter certainly have that much in common.
  16. Here's a link to the official site: https://versus.granbluefantasy.jp/en/ It mostly just details background information about the five playable characters for now. Its actually pretty neat that the site itself already has both an English and Japanese version.
  17. I have no idea what I'm looking at. But you have my attention ARCSYS.
  18. When I was a fifth grader, I was just getting into mmos and at one point was looking for a new name for a character. I knew her was going to be a healer because that's what I'd always been drawn to, and their relatively more peaceful role became Peace. Ribbon I think came out of the fact that these kinds of characters usually wear flowing clothes, but even I'm not sure why Ribbon specifically. After that it just became part of me.
  19. Up until Ryoma was reunited with the main party in Birthright where he clearly should have stepped into the leadership role, I'd argue the avatar lead the army fairly decently all things considered. He/she listened to the counsel of his "lieutenants" Azura, Kaze, ect., and showed a fairly appropriate level of caution to go along with some of his/her more reckless decisions. At the very least, he/she felt more competent than Conquest's and Revelation's versions in which he/she danced on Garon's strings and too readily marched into enemy territory trying to make peace respectively (granted, such a strong faith in humanity is a trait I aspire to).
  20. I wound up with Rapidash. It's a pretty useful spirit all things considered, especially since it provides you with a passive movement speed increase.
  21. This hits me right in the feelings every time. This was very much needed today.
  22. I am the final boss of the Fire Emblem game where all of the protagonists are zombies. The fight involves fighting a squad of powerful exorcists and mercenaries banded together to finally put an end to the monsters who've already raised two kingdoms and killed hundreds more from other nations. The enemy healers (which include me) can choose to attack with light magic, or use their staffs as an attack to heal the party to death.
