  1. Nice work, man! This is the first SF thread in a long time where I've actually been excited enough about it to actually log in and post. Heard about you through a YouTube video of an earlier version of the patch, and as soon as I had access to a computer I started setting it up to play myself. The verdict? You need to stop. This is obviously just a ploy to kill all my remaining free time... and it's working. I feel obligated to point out that that was a joke because I'm horrible at jokes. I've been messing around with different settings in the config menu, too; so far I think you've nailed the customization of the ingame setup screen. And while I also enjoyed the original game without it and you by no means were required to add it, I'm glad I can play casual mode, if only because sometimes my randomized units start out with sucky defenses and I'm of the type that doesn't want to permanently lose anyone. One thing that I'd like to see added, though, is the option to turn off the characters' unique palettes in setup, if that's possible. It's not a deal-breaker by any stretch; I found several of my characters to be amusing (I specifically remember a Cleric with neon outlines and mostly black fill that I nicknamed "Vegas") but sometimes I just find them to be irredeemably ugly. Some people like that, especially since this isn't meant to be taken seriously aesthetically, so it'd probably have to be another thing on the options menu, and thus I can understand if you don't want to add it. (In the same vein, perhaps also an option for genderlocking which version of the class the characters randomize into?) One last thing: In testing, I started two new files with identical options and seed. The classes and stats were the same in the Prologue, but the item the Rapier changed into was inconsistent, and I'm pretty sure that's not exclusive to that particular item. In the event that multiple people wanted to do playthroughs of the same randomization, this might be a bit of an issue. Wow, I'd better stop writing. Do I always write in such huge amounts of text?
  2. I really don't think this "stupid mechanic" is as bad as you're making it out to be. I'd even go so far as to say it's an improvement over the main series' Casual mode, because while I dislike losing units permanently, I still want some incentive to actually strategize beyond "throw my guys at your guys until your guys die and I win". Yes, losing EXP is frustrating if you don't expect it, and I agree that needs to be made clearer to the player. However, it's no fault of the game's if you, say, position your low-Res melee unit in the sights of 3 enemy mages and expect nothing bad to happen.
  3. As someone who isn't really an "FE-obsessed fan" myself, I can safely say I am hyped for Echoes. Doesn't matter to me that I never even played Gaiden, or even know that much about it; I just like that we're getting a game that looks like it'll be fun to play. I have a few friends in the same situation that say they are, without a doubt, going to pick this one up, too. Yeah, I think this game's sales are safe. (At least, I hope so)
  4. Oh god i just realized this will take actual effort. What have I done. Anyway, thanks for the suggestions. Also, I guess I need to clarify that I am only adding one character per person. I'll go update the opening post. Lookie, a new tagline!Edit - Well, should probably have thought more about this before posting, cause now that I have I've realized I made a commitment to something I can't keep up with. I just don't have the patience, as fun as this looks. Eh, it's two AM. I'll sleep on it, but this may be the shortest-lived idea I've ever had.
  5. (If this is the wrong place for a game like this, please let me know) Wellspring of Truth is easily one of my favorite Awakening levels in terms of mechanics. Recently a small group of friends and I said, "What if we all made up MU builds to import into one file and use in Wellspring of Truth?" One of them immediately suggested a trollish supertank and things kinda went from there. However, there aren't enough of us to make a full team with one avatar per person, and I really don't wanna fight ~15 practically invulnerable Generals, so, if I may, I would like to enlist your help in creating a scary army of elite MUs that will make me cry. Basically, I am going to blitz through a file to the Wellspring, and bring a full team of ONLY imported MUs... and Chrom of course... into the battle. Your job is to create an avatar character of any available promoted or special class and a set of five skills. Clarification/Important info: -I DO NOT have any DLC classes or skills besides Dread Fighters and Brides. Sorry, your Limit Breaker Grandmaster will have to wait for some other thread. -I only need assets, flaws, classes and skills, but feel free to give more info if you want. -No player-only or functionally useless skills, please! If the enemy can't benefit from it, ie Support bonuses and chest-opening and whatnot, think of something else. -Your builds can change after submission. If you realize that your Great Knight won't excel with Speed +2, feel free to post a replacement! -One character per user. Appreciate the enthusiasm though. :P -Chrom will be present as a stat-capped Great Lord but with no skills equipped. The focus will be on the custom avatars. -Lastly, feel free to comment on each other's avatars of death. Advice is welcome! Assuming nothing disastrous happens to my 3ds, I'll document my attempt to beat your army of lethal soldiers via screenshots and/or video stream. Let me know if I need to clear up any confusion you have. LIST OF AVATARS SO FAR Calico (me) 1/14 +spd/-def Assassin with Lethality, Avoid +10, Vantage, Patience, Galeforce Janzo (not on SF) 2/14 +res/-str General with Resistance +10, Aegis, Pavise, Sol, Renewal Chloey (TheSilentChloey) 3/14 +def/-lck Sorcerer with Lethality, Galeforce, Ignis, Renewal, Lifetaker
  6. Thanks all for the welcoming replies! I have to say this is much, MUCH more pleasant than some other forums I've been to. Specifically, one forum I visited when I was younger than ten that scarred me into rarely ever joining online forums ever again. ...But that's a story for another time. :P
  7. Wait, someone else made one too? Now I feel even less creative! :P Yep. Playing chess. Because why not.
  8. Sorry about that—you get this instead. (Hey, that rhymes!) Yellow! Hello, Serenes Forest! It is I, the person you've never heard of or seen before! Fortunately, I am here to rectify that. ...Or maybe not so fortunately; I'm not all that interesting. Too bad for you, 'cause here comes the info! But seriously, time to lower the confident facade and tell you about myself a little. My Internet name, as you can probably tell, is Calico. I discovered Fire Emblem a few years ago through a friend of mine who was going through some GBA games he had. He stumbled across the first internationally-released Fire Emblem and became obsessed with it for quite a while. I didn't own FE7 at the time, and my GBA is broken anyway, so reluctantly I... erm, such-and-such and bla-bla and ehhh... *cough* downloaded an emulator *cough*, and, long story short, I now (legally) own two Fire Emblem games and have been fascinated with the mechanics of the gameplay, especially the RNG. I have to say though: One of my favorite parts of any Fire Emblem game I've played is the Supports, even moreso if they're funny (which they often are). That's the short version. The long version would probably require seventeen spoiler tags just to fit it in the same page or something, and I doubt you want to hear my life story, heh. Anyway, I'm not much of an artist—the extent of my talent there is drawing a stick figure waving his arms around and yelling "CHECKMATE" at people (yes, I did make that once)—but I hope that I can contribute to the community in other ways. Glad to finally be part of the community instead of lurking around the Calculations pages on the site! I hope I'm following the rules right oh gosh did I break a rule I broke a rule didn't I oh no they're gonna kick me out me it's gonna be The Bannening all over again oh gosh oh gosh oh gosh
