  1. Dimitri x Edelgard All Joking aside, this is the romantic pairing I wish was in the game the most. Other ships I like: Edelgard x Fem!Byleth (fan comics make me love this one a lot) DimItri x Felix (not as a gay pairing, but as a super tight friendship. Their ending together was really heartwarming) Dimitri x Ingrid Bernadetta x Ignatz (surprised these two don't have a support together, their personalities are rather similar) Sylvain x Dorothea Claude x Hilda
  2. The magic system in Three Houses is really fun for similar reasons as in Shadows of Valentia. Every character having different spell lists gives each of them a bit of personal flair. Its way more fun here though since every character can become a mage from the start. My only issue with this system is that Magic and Attack are separate stats, so most physical characters can't easily go into magic classes and vice versa. Even though not every characters' spell list is equal, there are a fair amount of units that make for fun alternatives to the typical mages / healers in your class. Ignatz and Ingrid, for example, have decent Magic and Speed growths, get really decent high crit spells in Blizzard and Fimbulvetr and eventually get Physic.
  3. A lot of the game's minor villains, like Randolph, Lonato, and Miklan, were better written than those present in Sacred Stones imo. I consider Edelgard a villain for the Blue Lions / Golden Deer Routes, and I thought they were more interesting than Lyon personally. Edelgard has her own motivations rather than being controlled by some dark stone and has some nice banter with both Claude and Dimitri, which makes her friendship with them seem more genuine than the simple flashbacks used in Sacred Stones. One moment I particularly liked was when Edelgard questioned Claudes lineage in the Golden Deer Route and seemingly put him down for it, which foreshadowed their eventual dispute. Death Knight is mainly carried by his power level relative to the students (a trained masked knight with high stats and a scary appearance conveyed that he was on an entirely different power level than the generic rogues and bandits you face throughout the game) but I do agree that Black Knight was a better handled villain (in Path of Radiance specifically, haven't played Radiant Dawn).
  4. Update on a few of the builds I'm using on my second Blue Lions run: Mortal Savant Ignatz: Working out very well for me. Doubles classes with middling speed reliably and despite having a middling Magic stat (only 19 with the Magic Staff) the combination of Fiendish Blow and Black Tomefaire / Swordfaire lets him reliably one round most enemies on initiation. His Attack is about on par w/ his Magic so weapons like Silver Sword are pretty useful against high Res enemies, his speed and bulk are high enough that he doesn't get one rounded by enemies, which is genuinely impressive for a Mage on Hard Mode (Annette and Dorothea get one-round by a swift breeze in comparison). Overall, a pleasant surprise. Swordmaster Ingrid: Another one that's working out pretty well for me. Her strength is rather low (around 22), but between Death Blow and Swordfaire, she's also one rounding most things on initiation. Another plus is that she has really high avoid so she's a great dodge tank. Wyvern Rider Gilbert: This is a shockingly easy promotion to reach (only a few weeks of Flying lessons and he's ready to promote). His speed isn't as laughably bad, but isn't good enough to avoid doubles from most enemies. As a trade-off, his defense is noticeably worse, so getting doubled hurts a lot more. Despite these, higher mobility, Smite utility and still really high defense make him a lot more fun to use than as a Forretress Knight.
  5. Yeah, this is one of my favorites in the series too. Between the voice acting, world building, and constant character interactions throughout the story, this is easily my favorite narrative to experience, even if the story its telling isn't particularly revolutionary. Something that I really like is the way paralogues were handled here. Paralogues help give every character time in the spotlight outside of supports, and reveal notable details about them that aren't extensively covered in the story (i.e. Felix's conflict with his father about the nobility). I enjoyed them a lot more here than in Fates or Awakening because of this. Graphically, this game is pretty hit or miss for me. The texturing in this is game is fairly decent (I almost mistook the rocks on the monastery walls to be actually modeled on because of the texturing and the way the walls reflected light). What irks me is that the devs try using details like textures,, surface reflectiveness, and sound effects to mask the lack of modeling on a lot of objects, like baskets of fruit, and the aforementioned walls, which comes off as lazy. There's a fair amount of clipping during gameplay (i.e. post timeskip Lysithea's sleeves will clip through the table during tea-time) which gets annoying too. Despite these issues, the game has some pretty looking visuals, especially in its maps. Some, like the coast map, look surprisingly detailed. I like the cell-shaded look of the 3D models too, but wish they had a greater set of animations during stuff like cutscenes and supports. In battle, the animations look great, each attack definitely has a nice sense of weight to it. I think they borrowed a fair number of animations from fire emblem warriors, but I'm not complaining given how good they look during gameplay. Overall, the graphics are dissappointing, but still a caliber above the rest of the series in my opinion. I love this game's gameplay too despite its flaws. Combat arts and universal weapon access give you a lot of options in how you want to approach a battle, even if swords, lances and axes feel a bit homogeneous (Gauntlets and Bows have clear differences that make them decent alternatives for a character's weapon of choice). A lot of the game's maps are solid, and feature a good number of side objectives like treasure, saving villagers, etc. A problem I had with the game's map design though is that chokepoints and formation based gameplay don't seem to me as important here because of the enemy placement (on hard mode that is).
  6. The only unit who interest me here is Fallen Corrin and I already have her. Gonna pass on this banner and wait for next month, when Sothis and L!Alm get rerun.
  7. I messed up in my first Azure Moon playthrough and accidentally killed Dedue and Seteth. Dedue died cause I didn't do the paralogue, Seteth just died on an auxillary battle I did not pay attention to haha.
  8. That seems feasible. The stats for the enemy Pegasus Knights are ridiculous compared to most of the other unpromoted enemies on hard mode so I would not be surprised if this were the case. Another question: Do recruited characters on maddening have higher stats than on hard (i.e. If I recruit Linhardt in chapter 10 on maddening, would have have higher stats than on Hard Mode if I recruited him on the same chapter?).
  9. I'm in the middle of my second Azure Moon hard playthrough and I decided to do several unconventional builds this time around. Some successful ones so far: Pegasus Knight Hilda. This class is working so much better than Wyvern Rider for me since her speed growth isn't as shaky and Lances have better accuracy and weight than axes. I snagged reposition and def +2 from soldier this time around so she's got great support utility and her bulk isn't shabby either. Pegasus Knight Bernadetta. I recruited her much later than Hilda so her stats are nowhere near as good and she doesn't have Reposition or NG+ Death Blow. Still, she's quite nimble and being proficient in bows lets her stand out quite a bit. Paladin Dimitri. This isn't unconventional, but I was reluctant to make him a paladin since pretty much every paladin I've used in other playthroughs sucked real bad. However, Dimitri is straight up godly as a Paladin. Takes no damage from most enemies and has really high speed on top of eight movement so things die pretty easily. Paladin Lorenz. Again not unconventional, but I was reluctant on making him one since Paladin's get doubled pretty easily (I went Mage -> Dark Bishop -> Dark Knight in my last playthrough). He's not as overpowered as Dimitri since his speed, defenses, and offenses are more middling, Still, his stats and bulk are good enough where he can live enemy onslaughts pretty well and he does good single hit damage. Sniper Dedue. I made him a Sniper since high def archers are fun to use (looking at you SoV Kliff). He's not as tanky as I'd imagine but I'm surprised at how often he's doubling enemies. Sniper Felix. Not unconventional, but still something I wanted to try. He's fulfilling the role of tanky archer better than Dedue thanks to Aegis Shield, but as a result, his speed isn't the best. Honestly I just have him use weapons like Training Sword if I want him to double and kill stuff, and use Bows more as a way to severely chip the opponent. Still, he's performing really well, much better than Swordmaster and Assassin Felix that I've used in other playthoughs. Some builds I need a bit more time using: Mage Ignatz. Recruited him late so I had to feed him stat boosters and baby him as a Mage w// Knowledge Gem to learn Fiendish Blow. His attacking stats aren't great (can't even ORKO armor knights) but his speed is good enough to double reasonably well. Since his attack is higher than his magic stat and he has good weapon ranks for Sword and Bows, I use those weapons as secondary options against certain enemies, which is fun.
  10. Minor question, but why do enemy Pegasus Knights have 7 movement but player controlled Pegasus knights only have 6?
  11. Unless the devs are willing to rewrite fair chunks of both the BL and SS paths, Rodrigue and Rhea shouldn't be playable in either routes.
  12. I feel stupid for not realizing that Flayn and Seteth are the Maria and Minerva of this game, but everything checks out. Flayn is the younger, yet cheery healer while Seteth is the older and more stern Wyvern Rider. Pre-timeskip, I think Solon is the Gharnef archetype since he manipulated several events during part 1. In part 2 the Gharnef archetype is definitely Thales. Cornelia seems fairly similar to a few past FE characters, but its hard to say who she's truly like. She reminds me of Excellus and Nuibaba, but I think she's the most similar to Desaix since she sold out her own kingdom for power and killed Rufus. Gilbert seems like the Jagen Archetype in part two since he serves as an advisor for Dimitri and is a veteran knight in service to the Kingdom like Jagen. Lysithea is definitely part of the Linde Archetype since she's a powerful and young mage who is exceptionally talented at magic. Annette seems more like the Merric Archetype since she excels in wind Magic and is a very dilligent learner. Hubert reminds me of Astram, Edligan, and Xander since he chases you in a few chapters in part 2 and is dedicated to fulfilling his lieges orders. I'm not sure if he is exactly part of the Camus archetype however. Death Knight also reminds me of Astram since he does the same in part 1. Rhea seems to be the Nyna archetype. In part 1, she's the one giving you most of the orders like Nyna did in FE1. In part 2, she is out of commission and captured by the Empire, like Nyna in FE3. I think Dimitri is the traditional Marth archetype while Claude is more like Alm and Lyn. Dimitri grew up as royalty while Claude grows up in a lower class environment and lived most of his life not knowing that he was noble.
  13. Playable Jeritza and Anna are both cool. I'm hoping Jeritza isn't exclusive to the Black Eagles, however. The Suana and petting DLC seem like good ways to add variety to the game's daily activities. Kinda nitpicking, but I'm hoping the Sauna will depict the characters in a yukata or kimono rather than a bath-towel or underwear. New playable classes seem like they'll be fun to use on repeat playthroughs. I'm hoping that we can promote characters using some item like in Fates and Awakening rather than grinding to absurd levels. Hoping for the following classes Maid / Butler: (White magic and Sword Focus) Spearmaster: (Lance Focus) Some Armored class Summoner (Black Magic focus with special ability to summon phantoms) Compared to Fates, Awakening, and Echoes, the DLC here seems pretty solid given its pricing. Still, I think stuff like the Sauna and ability to play with animals should be available for everyone.
  14. I think that was intentional. Harken's love in FE7 is Isadora, who is based off of Midia, so it only makes sense that Harken is based off of Astram.
  15. Did the female -female supports in the 3DS games focus on men though? I recall a few like Faye and Silque and some of Cordelia's supports focusing on men, but most of the others were fine to my knowledge. Maybe my memory is hazy, but I recall more supports from the GBA games that focused on men like Marisa and Tethys's support.
  16. I'm digging Norne's stat spread if she gets demoted. Offensively, it isn't too much better than most of our current f2p offerings, but her all-around high stats and status as a colorless unit means that she'll be really strong all around with merges, dragon flowers, and premium investment. Also "Cam-oo guess who it is"? Pretty funny NoA.
  17. I think Bantu might have veteran BST cause I don't think they would demote him so easily if he didn't. Even if that's the case, he'll still likely have pretty high BST compared to gen 1 units, so I'm looking forward to building him. Astram is also really cool, hope he's an infantry sword unit with the Miracle Sword / Mercurius.
  18. 1. Make the Fortress Knight's Mastery skill Quick Riposte. 2. Make Fliers unable to use their mount indoors. 3. Grant Mortal Savant the Hexblade Combat art from SoV instead of Warding Blow (Brave effect on sword that deals magical damage).
  19. I'd like a few prequel maps. I mainly want one focusing on Dimitri and Felix suppressing the rebellion in the Western Kingdom. Aside from that, I'd like a few, completely new characters in the game. Something similar to Echoes Cipher DLC.
  20. I'm surprised so many people are calling Rodrigue's death scene bad for the story. I found it to be one of the strongest scenes in the game. Throughout the story, Dimitri had a strong desire to avenge the dead. Worsened by the scars he obtained during the 5-year timeskip, his obsession with satiating the dead led him down a dark path where he was literally killing himself to fulfill something that was ultimately meaningless, and he refused to change because he felt he was too far gone. We see this in the Golden Deer path, where Dimitri dies an unceremonious and pitiful death because of his inability to snap back to the right path. Rodrigue's death is the critical setback Dimitri needed in order to understand that he wasn't doing the right thing. One detail I really love is that Rodrigue's own lingering regret is not fulfilling his promise to Lambert: making Dimitri a respectable ruler. Through this token, I find Dimitri's change more convincing, since he isn't completely thinking for himself, but fulfilling the request of the dead (he mentions he's still haunted by their voices in his S-support w/ Byleth iirc). Also, if I'm being honest, I find that the Blue Lion's story hinging on Rodrigue's death makes the moment even more powerful and tragic because his death was necessary to save Dimitri. I felt it sent a strong message that its never too late to course correct, but its better to do so sooner. Divine Pulse is legitimate criticism for the scene, however.
  21. I think most of the stuff that would be featured in a 3 houses spin off will be delegated to DLC. The game has strong world building, so I don't see them making a full prequel game, but rather prequel DLC like SoV and BS:FE. Multiple paths in this game make a sequel almost impossible unless they add a new happy ending path, and even then, I can't see a sequel being made for this game since one of the main appeals of this game is seeing the characters become adults and mature, which wouldn't be as big of a factor in a sequel. A tharacia style-game that takes place between the 5 year timeskip with some liberties in story-telling is plausible, but I don't think they'll go through with it. Most likely, we will get an enhanced rerelease like Persona 5 Royal or Pokemon USUM.
  22. If we get a remake, it'll definitely be one of the Japanese-exclusive FEs. I'm hoping for an FE6 gets remake and has several features from Three Houses like more customizable characters and several tiers of classes. Some connections to FE7 would be nice to see as well. My biggest fear with a FE6 remake is that it might have a character roster that's a bit too large, between Binding Blade's already massive roster and possible new characters added from the FE7. As such, unit balance and the number of support conversations may be limited, especially since almost all of them will have to be voiced.
  23. Likely just bad luck, the growths in this game are "balanced", so you're more likely to get RNG screwed.
