  1. Here's what I think might happen...

There's no reason for a Fire Emblem game to be any larger than what can fit on a 3DS. Therefore, they can just publish the same game on both the Switch and the 3DS a bit like they did for Sm4sh. I doubt that Nintendo wouldn't double release it if there was demand for it.

  2. That's a iffy poiny there, as I might but I don't really have the confidence to pixel a nude human body, so I might just try instead a more implied version of it, also it is mainly drawing imspiration from berserk, its not going to be berserk since while I am a big fan of it, I feel like I wouldn't do the series justice enough to make a fully berserk FE fan game

LOL don't actually show it or your game will 1) be very dark 2) be 18+ by law.

  3. I agree with Soul. It's also hard to get a very exact idea of exactly how many calories you are burning, depending on how vigorous the exercise is, so it's easy to overestimate, if you do an elaborate addition/subtraction for calories vs burned for the day. While, depending on what you eat, you can get a very exact number for intake, which is the more important number to keep track of. It's surprising how much exercise it takes to burn a single candy bar.

Why is it surprising? It's super refined junk food with lots of sugar.

  4. They are good habits, but not enough in isolation. Even if you drink plenty of water and sleep 8 hours a night, you won't lose weight if you're eating 3000 calories a day.

And even if someone is "properly" Calorie counting, that won't matter if the metabolism is made to suck due to other poor habits. Fact of the matter is, y'alls aren't encouraging these habits which are good for anyone (again, with a super duper tiny amount of exceptions).

Also, not all Calories are made equally. Things that are less refined (like organic nuts) are harder for our bodies to digest than something more refined, so we won't "get" all of the Calories in unrefined things. Plus, Calorie counting can get stressful...

  5. @ Loopulk, my point was that you can't strictly go by how your body feels to let you know the proper amount of food to eat. We evolved to want far more food than we need, which served us well in Hunter-Gatherer days, but not so well when food is always readily available. I understand you probably mean well, but I think your views are somewhat misinformed. You are free to disagree with me, of course.

We easily feel like trash when overeating, though. We also feel lightheaded when we don't eat enough. Our bodies are pretty reliable. Furthermore, if I am not right, then do people manage to lose weight doing what I do while eating healthy food? Like why are you guys chiefly encouraging Calorie counting and not things that are unambiguously healthy like getting plenty of sleep and drinking lots of water? Calorie counting should only be temporary if employed at all. Drinking lots of water and getting plenty of sleep are good habits.

  6. Alright. STOP. NOW!

Do you know what happens if I eat "normally"? I will ruin my life. No, I'm not being melodramatic. If I eat things that stress my system out too much, I wind up with a nasty bout of depression, which really fucks with everything. Here, have some reading.

At one point in time, I lost seven pounds in a matter of weeks. Want to know the "secret"? I wound up having to restrict my diet like crazy, and I burned more calories than I consumed. How do I know I did that? I cut out a lot of calorie-dense foods very quickly. . .and just about everything else, too. Before anyone else tries to mimic this, I also had my blood pressure plummet, so don't do this.

Your post reads like "well it's common sense for me so it should work for everyone". I may be one person out of many, but I'd either be in a psych ward or dead if I followed your advice. So kindly cut it out.

I was referring to not Calorie counting. I did a quick scan of the page and CTRL+F "Calo" and found nothing, so I'm assuming that that's not relevant to Calorie counting. And there are of course some exceptional cases, but Zerxen is probably not one. If he were one, he should go see a doctor.

The problem with just eating until you're full, is that there's a bit of a lag between your gut and your brain as to when you're full. If you eat a lot of food quickly, you'll eat more than if you ate slowly, or took a bit of time in between courses of your meal.

It's a complicated process, but the full sensation is a mixture of chemicals that your digestive system releases when it senses food in the alimentary canal and the actual physical expansion of the stomach. If you take in food quickly, it takes time for the full sensation to take effect.

It's a wonderful mix of the digestive, endocrine, and neurological systems working in concert. I'm not a nutritionist, but I am a physician. I don't claim to be an expert on the subject, and no one here is a patient of mine, but I know enough to give standard-of-care general advice on the subject.

I mentioned that like three or four times so far. Why are you bringing it up as if I don't know? Another thing that needs to be mentioned is that by Calorie counting, food becomes more of a game. People are more focused on the Calories and not actually enjoying the food (which they should do), thus not feel as satisfied and not feeling full as quickly.

  7. I didn't say that people can't get eating disorders from counting calories. I don't care that people can get eating disorders from counting calories. People can also get eating disorders from eating until they feel full.

I eat a caloric deficit whenever I am trying to lose weight,

People normally at until they're full. That's how our body functions. Nobody's going to develop an eating disorder by eating like someone normally would.

Whenever you're trying to lose weight? So you've tried on more than one occasion? Maybe Calorie counting didn't work or isn't sustainable.

Calorie counting helps you eat like a normal person. Eating at his discretion is what caused him to become overweight. It's great that you feel great, but he doesn't and wants to change his body, and he should use a more efficient method than "do whatever feels right maaaan."

    Normal people don't Calorie count.

What is with you and eating disorders? Counting calories does not equal starving yourself. It is just watching what you eat and how much of it was consumed. Stop pretending to be some sort of expert. I got overweight because of a lack of calorie counting. Calorie counting will get me out of this problem.

Really? A lack of Calorie counting is what caused you to be overweight? So you're telling me that you only ate health food, drank plenty a water, got enough sleep, and exercised daily? Well I'll be! If that's the case, go see a doctor.

  8. When I started working out weeks ago, I never calorie counted, I started counting yesterday. Around that time I long stopped eating if bored.

Wow! Two days! What a reliable time to determine if something is a habit or not. Two days? Really?

And to Esau, my original argument wasn't based on evolution. I simply tried that because you didn't believe that people could get eating disorders by rigidly limiting food intake based on energy alone. Many things we do simply out of habit. Once we don't do that thing, not doing it just feels wrong. Calorie counting is the same thing. Once you're in a place where you cannot count Calories, you'll feel groggy, and since you're associating it with health, you'll feel stressed out too (not healthy).

Also, it does matter when you eat. For the next month (so we can see results), I dare you to not eat anything until 30 minutes before you go to sleep if you truly believe that eating time does not matter.

One more thing, Zerxen. Are you not able to walk/run outside? Being on a treadmill is boring and often leads to a less natural running form (one that humans were not evolved to do) such as bouncing and over-striding.

  9. I am getting tired of your arrogance. I do not eat when I am bored. I only eat when I am hungry. Stop acting like you are some sort of doctor because I can tell you are not. Clearly you misread my PM.

"All calorie counting does is prevent me from eating while bored."

Implying that you did eat when bored previously.

  10. Who cares what humans are "meant" to do or not? The point of the thread is to help Zerxen get healtier, eat better. Instead of picking a fight with one another, how about we actually give him good advice and answer his questions?

I don't know how much Calories orange chicken normally has. But I think you should keep track of the calories you eat. It'll help keep your mind on the things you should eat. But it takes true dedication to adjust your lifestyle to compensate for these new habits. Don't give in and you'll reach your goal, maybe exceed it, before you know it.

Let's give him advice that won't give him an eating disorder. If he is overweight and eats when he's bored (he admitted that to me in a PM), then he might already have an eating disorder, so let's not replace that one with another.

Our bodies have evolved so that if we eat when we're hungry and stop eating when we're full, we'll be at a healthy weight assuming that we're not eating junk. Why can't you trust thousands of years of evolution?

Swap out previous junk food with healthy food. Drink more water and get more sleep if needed. Exercise more. I really don't see why limiting our food intake based strictly on energy is required.

  11. There are a lot of things we're not made to do. There are an incredible host of things that are artificial and unnatural. We're not made to read alphabets. We're not made to communicate over long distances. We're not made to fly, or to kill much bigger, stronger predators. We do all of this through the use of information. I am insisting that he make consistent efforts at knowing what he is putting into his body, and regulating the energy that he takes in while also that which he expends. For the record, the human body IS made to be made hungry for extended periods of time. Humans in the past were an animal that had very intermittent periods of eating, which resulted in a series of "feast and famine" events that would happen over any human's lifetime. Even if I were to take you at your insane notions of dieting, as though we should be left to the whimsy of nature, you would still be wrong. Nevertheless, I was not insisting that he starve himself for long periods of time. He should eat regularly, and ideally he would not be hungry. But if he's twenty or thirty pounds overweight, he's probably going to end up hungry at a time when he shouldn't eat. That's just the way it's going to go, and if he doesn't want to keep the weight he's probably going to have to deal with a grumbly stomach for a few months. It's not a big deal and you're acting like everyone is telling him to eat a handful of chickpeas a week. It's ridiculous.

You can feel good while also counting calories and eating less. He is trying to lose weight and improve his health and athleticism. He can get inspiration from any number of things, I have no idea what the hell you're talking about with all of this deluge of emotional nonsense. He's trying to lose weight, not make friends with his food. Jesus Christ.

Humans were made to survive if starved. That doesn't mean it was healthy to do so. If there was no junk food back then and they were healthy, then that's a clear indicator that junk food made people fat.

As for your comparison to other things (reading, flying), we're talking about something that old humans did do and were evolved to do compared to what you are doing in that same activity. With flying and reading, there is nothing from back then to which we can compare them while we can compared eating back then to eating today.

Hey guys, do you know how much calories Orange Chicken has? I had some for dinner and I ate about either 1/4 or 1/3 of the whole serving. This was from Chinese restaurant nearby.

This is a main problem with Calorie counting. You won't often know how many Calories are in a meal. It's unneeded stress. Plus, do you really think that the restaurant owners care about your health? Most do not. They want good tasting food because that's what brings people back.

  12. That is correct, 3,500 calories burned is equal to a pound of weight lost. You could burn it all in one day, but you would never want to. Your goal in losing weight should be a consistent routine that yields greater loss over a longer period of time. That means working out 3-5 days a week, with the remaining days left for recuperation. As you lose weight and become more interested in the feld you might find you like routines that target specific groups exclusively to mold yourself more closely. Until then, though, you should focus on general core exercises to build a strong base for healthy exercise.

He didn't mention calories because he was looking for information on weight loss. The only way to lose weight is through maintaining a caloric deficit, and the best way to maintain a caloric deficit is to know exactly how much energy you are putting in your body. I don't care how you insist you're able to eat whatever you want and keep the weight off. It's great for you that you're keeping yourself healthy, but it's not relevant to the topic and you're leading him astray by insisting he can do whatever he wants so long as he just uses common sense. He needs to develop a routine and good eating habits, and if he had them in the first place he wouldn't be trying to lose weight. He needs to monitor what he is eating, full stop. Calorie counting will let him do that.

LOL I didn't say I eat whatever I want. I eat how much I want. You should never have to not eat when you're hungry in a normal situation It's simply not normal and our bodies are not made to be hungry for extended periods of time. Good eating habits means eating healthy food. I don't know why you insist that he do something that causes eating disorders. Calorie counting is artificial and unnatural. Why can't people just trust their bodies? We get hungry and full for a reason! Do you not trust that thousands (millions?) of years of evolution could tackle something as simple as eating?

What I'm saying is relevant to the topic because it's important to feel good too! How is he going to exercise if he feels like trash? He's not. He needs to feel good and fueled and refreshed. He needs to feel inspired, and by constantly counting calories instead of eating and drinking healthy things, he won't feel those things.

Zerxen, why did you gain the weight? Was it because of poor eating? Eat better then. Lack of exercise? Exercise more often and more intelligently. Maybe lack of sleep? Sleep more. Water? Drink more (especially in the morning) so that you don't feel thirsty unless you're in an exceptional situation.

  13. You can do improvised weight, but it's not very optimal and you can get weights cheap at a walmart or any outlet store you have near you.

Jesus Christ, he's trying to lose fat by eating at a caloric deficit and doing exercise. You want to use common sense? Then add up the caloric content of the food you are eating and make sure it is suitably less than what you are expending. This feelgood mentality you're pushing is nice, but ultimately ineffective. I get the feeling you're one of those hilarious healthy at every size folks. If you are then find a better routine, because you're wasting your time.

Funny because he (as of you posting this) NEVER mentioned Calories ONCE. You can say that my "feelgood mentality" is ineffective, but it's worked for me and it's worked for many others. I haven't had a soft drink in two years and I'm always in an uppity mood. I'm never physically fatigued unless I have just exercised, so yeah. Oh, and I eat as much as I want and I'm continually losing the stomach fat that I gained during puberty. Hmmm, weird! I wonder why...

It's because I don't put junk into my body!

And don't assume my stance on health. I know that being obese is unhealthy, but I also know that not everyone is going to have the same body-type when healthy. Ultimately, Calorie counting won't allow someone to find that body-type either. Eat when you're hungry and stop when you're no longer hungry (or slightly before, also assuming that one's not speed eating).

Also how exactly does losing weight work? It is my knowledge that 3500 calories is what it takes to lose or gain a pound. Does 3500 calories have to be in one day or is it over the course of week/month? I need someone to explain the process to me.

It's over any frame of time (kind of). Also, just out of curiosity, how old are you?

  14. Another thing I would like to return is the classic locked promotion system. But this comes more as a preference rather than a serious argument. I prefer each character staying true to its class and match it with its design. Since FE11 I have been against the Reclass system, but I see why people like it so much. In contrast, for the sake of keeping the customization concept and the Avatar system, I think all of the cast can stay as their classes are and the Avatar can be a full customizable unit: choose your class, your face, hair, tunics/outfit, growths, bases and everything, and being like a hired unit or some wandering dude idk.

Agreed 100%. This would also open up the option of even having changing portraits when units promote. :)

  15. I think the real problem with this discussion is about how we're talking about losing weight and not becoming more healthy. Want to lose weight? Cut off your arm! Wanna lose even more? Jump in a volcano!

Don't calorie count, Zerxen. Use common sense and what feels right (with logic too, of course) to guide you. You can play with numbers all you want, but they really don't include important things such as our stress levels, when we eat, how much sleep we get, and how much water we drink and when we drink it.
