  1. So as most of you know, the final two DLC packs in Fire Emblem Fates were never officially localized and released outside of Japan by Nintendo Treehouse or otherwise. And while I've personally seen a fair amount of demand from fans for an unofficial patch that allows them to play said DLC packs in English, said patches have never been completed to my knowledge, though there have been a few previous attempts. The last person I'm aware attempted to create one goes by the name of Silent Hell, and you can find the post about it here. It actually got fairly far for this sort of project – he managed to accomplish just about everything on the actual hacking side of things, and most of the preliminary translation was already provided to him through this Tumblr blog, used with permission. The problem he ran into was on the editing side of things, which is where I first came in to help. We struggled to make all the conversations sound natural and like a professional localization, and despite our best efforts some of it still came off sounding a bit stilted. In the end Silent Hell had to abandon the project due to other commitments, but he allowed me to pick up on where he left off if I wished. As for why I wasn't able to act on that until now, a few reasons. First, I had personal commitments of my own. Second, I was pretty much by myself after Silent Hell left, and while I don't lack confidence in my own editing skills, I do have to admit that the sheer amount of conversations that still had to be given that job – as well as previous ones that I felt could use some extra polishing – was daunting to me. I did try to seek out help from places I frequent more beforehand – such as GameFAQs, Reddit and GBAtemp – but not many people were willing to make that commitment. And that's how I was led here. Not just because this place is composed of the largest Fire Emblem fanbase on the Internet, but also in light of the Thracia patch that was recently released; while unrelated to Fates specifically, it does manage to demonstrate your support for even more niche fan projects. So what would I need to complete this patch? Well, some willing writers and editors, for sure. I don't need the most talented or dedicated bunch, though I do want the dialogue to sound at least genuine. Anyone willing to help out test this project on a modded 3DS would also be welcome. I can do that part myself, of course. But with the many different save files and parent-child combinations I'd need to jump between especially on the Hoshidan festival side it would take a lot longer than it needs. Anyway, just wanted to put this out there in case anybody was still interested. If you aren't, that's fine, but I'm definitely willing to finish this if the demand and support is there.
  2. Yeah, as someone who hates Tharja, they only have superficial similarities. She's much more like the Catria archetype (i.e. Cordelia, Flora, etc.) As for her support with Silque, it seems more cold/distant than rude to me. She even realizes how she made Silque feel later, and they do end up becoming friends.

  5. All the voices fit their characters perfectly IMO. There are a few lines I feel could've used a second take, but the English VO in this game still gets a thumbs-up from me. I'd have to agree with this.

  8. But here's the thing. Nintendo of America has never included dual audio in games they've localized. It's always been 8-4 or NoE.
  9. NoE did go the extra mile to add dual audio to their version of Rhythm Heaven Fever and fix the glitches involving it in Fire Emblem: Awakening though. So it's possible.
  10. Funny you mention Radiant Dawn. .It also had no dual audio. What else was "slaughtered" in the localization? News to me. I think it's more that the Internet is much more developed nowadays, to the point that even the tiniest minority can make their voice heard, as well as the fact that people were following the Japanese version of this game much more closely.
  11. Are we sure it's because of licensing issues, though? As I've said, Nintendo of America has shown no interest in providing dual audio for the games they localize. It was all NoE and 8-4.
  12. To be fair, as I've said, Nintendo of America has never done dual audio on its own. It's always NoE or 8-4, as was the case with Xenoblade and Fire Emblem: Awakening, respectively.
  13. Come to think of it, none of the Nintendo games Nintendo of America localized included dual audio. It's always been either 8-4 (Fire Emblem: Awakening), Nintendo of Europe (Xenoblade Chronicles, Rhythm Heaven Fever, Bayonetta [2] and Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water) or Square Enix (Bravely Default). The closest thing I can find to NoA including dual audio is Super Smash Bros. Melee, and even then it's more of a general Japanese language option (text is affected too) and only Jigglypuff and a few of Fox, Falco, Mewtwo, and the announcer's lines (the VAs are the same) are actually affected by it. Nintendo of Europe, on the other hand, has had a great track record with dual audio, even going as far to add it in their version of Rhythm Heaven Fever (Beat the Beat: Rhythm Paradise) and fix the bugs involving it in Fire Emblem: Awakening. Nintendo of America is Atlus-tier with their dual audio at best. So I think you can get your hopes up for dual audio in the PAL version. So it might not be licensing or space issues after all. It could be NoA just not giving a hoot.
  14. Xenoblade 3D and Xenoblade X only lost dual audio because of space limitations. Nothing more, nothing less.
  15. Well, since my e-mail has been contradicted after I received it, I guess there's still hope for dual audio.
