  1. Currently have a special edition preordered *knocks on wood* so I won't really have to make a choice, but my play order is going to be alphabetical (Birthright, Conquest, Revelations), with the final being my quote "canonical" game. Might even go so far as to go have my Hoshido play through be named Kamui while Nohr gets Corrin, to reflect the character feeling more at home in one nation or the other. As for who I would choose in real life... I might have to say neither. On the one hand, there'd be a lot of loyalty to he family that raised me, but at the same time, a lot of resentment towards Garon for taking me as a hostage and taking me away from my homeland. So I'd advocate neutrality/running away with my Nohrian counterpart and the maid. Supposing I did choose a side, I'd bend over backwards trying to keep the peace, or at the very least, keep my family(ies) from getting hurt.
  2. Valid point. I guess it's more balanced than I thought.
  3. Yes and no, I think. True, it doesn't activate any more if you're paired up with another unit, so you can no longer move->kill->move->switch->kill-move->switch/kill like you could in Awakening, but on the other hand, Dark Falcon's are not gender exclusive, so Galeforce is available to everybody, meaning less eugenics in your pairings (though that's still there in terms of growths and classes). Edit: Just thought of something... Warp. Dear god. Warp and Galeforce together could be a serious game changer later in fights if your units are dispersed all over the place. And a warping Azura to sing would take it even further.
  4. Someone already suggested Usagi. I still think the localization team would have been better off scrapping the anagram joke and just using the Japanese names of the characters from Awakening. Would have preserved the connection in a way that didn't trip over itself and create incredibly awkward names that don't fit with the naming conventions of the rest of the country.
  5. Looking at the DLC page on this site, it seems that it's going to be released March 17th, and is a 4 star difficulty map. So far, it's the only map with that difficulty ranking.
  6. Have you tried calling them? I had the same problem, but I talked to a rep who was able to sort it out for me.
  7. Yeah. When I click on your link it just takes me to a technical difficulties page rather than to the item. Not surprised by the heavy traffic, I pulled up the thread on the Fire Emblem reddit, and it's a whirlwind of emotions. Also, I'm pretty sure I could hear other representatives saying "Fire Emblem" in the background when I made my calls. I think the fanbase has made up the majority of calls to Walmart's Customer Care today. I also think part of the struggle is that Walmart is actually trying to make sure they don't oversell their preorders. I'm sure they don't want to have their name dragged through the mud after Gamestop's snafu.
  8. Keep trying. It seems to be going in and out of stock as they keep trying to deal with technical problems on their site. Also, don't give up after one call to the call center. The first person I tried wasn't willing to help, but the second time I called they did. So don't give up and good luck!
  9. Best of luck! Looking forward to seeing your submission. Interesting.
  10. Wait. Did Gamestop actually restock, or are you talking about the glitch that led to them taking preorders after they had already sold out?
  11. Just looked it up for you. They don't. And it's still not up on their Canadian website. You might try giving them a call anyway, and see if it's coming to their Canadian website.
  12. Walmart was my first regular job-job rather than me doing freelance and odd job work, and it wasn't that bad of an experience for me. Most of my coworkers were good people, and the regulars actually came often enough that we learned each others names and would visit periodically. I actually felt bad when one of them told me that I was the reason they kept coming to the store, since they knew I'd take care of them. I had to tell them that was actually my last day on the job... Thanks! I'm glad you were able to get one too! We might have talked to the same guy the first time, because the person I talked to was very dismissive and unhelpful. And once again, thanks to the OP for telling people about the restock. It was very helpful.
  13. CHECKMATE! Managed to get a copy through Walmart. It'll arrive a little later than I'd like, but that's okay. This has been a lesson in perseverance and continuing to fight for something you want. "Hope will never die!" never held so much truth in my life, except all the other times when more important things worked themselves out.
  14. On hold with customer support. Tried to place an order when I first saw this, but kept getting the state restriction excuse. Called to sort it out, they told me that it wouldn't be sorted out for a while. Kept trying, and suddenly I see it's removed from my cart and the item is out of stock. There was much cursing and flailing of limbs.
  15. New headcanon: Selena is her mother, so the name is a tsundere way of showing her love for her mother. Rhajat wanted to sound special, and Gurei's localized name will be an attempt at identity theft gone horribly wrong.
  16. At this point I feel like I might as well apply for the FBI, NSA, and CIA. Qualifications: Once tracked multiple online retailers for months trying to locate a copy of a video game.
  17. I'm American, but I too recommend the game's special edition over the new system. I'm not overly big on its design, and as has been pointed out, having the full game (sans DLC) on a single cartridge is very appealing to me, especially with Nintendo's... questionable methods of handling digital purchases.
  18. I'll keep an eye out. I'm also eyeing Amazon today. Maybe they'll be getting more in today if places like Play-Asia and Walmart are/were/will be taking preorders again. If I could get it shipped to my place the day of for free and cheaper than buying the game elsewhere due to prime, that would be very much appreciated. Then again, it appears that Amazon has removed the special edition entirely from its storefront. Wonder what that means for people who have already preordered it... Edit: Cancel that. They've just screwed up with the photos. They're showing the console rather than the game. It's still there.
  19. Hmm. I'm trying to preorder here, and it keeps saying things about not being able to ship/pick up in stores in any of the three zip codes I've tried due to "state restrictions."
  20. Yeah, for whatever reason most places don't seem to have a general questions email option.
  21. If all goes well, it'll work out in my favor. Without a refund, my order hasn't technically been cancelled yet. I'm cautiously optimistic, if for no other reason that if people are canceling their orders before they ship, the store I went to might be able to secure a copy for me. Plus, if Play-Asia was able to get their hands on enough stock to advertise selling more, maybe Gamestop can get more too.
  22. I'm not one to defend this localization too much, but I don't think that these names were changed because they thought people wouldn't be able to pronounce them, with the exception of dropping the T from Tsubaki. Personally, I like "Kaze" more than the original name, though I can see why the change bothers people. I don't really have an opinion of the last two names one way or the other, but I do dislike the change from Nishiki to Kaden. Really hope Kinu doesn't get the same treatment.
  23. Yep. But they refused to actually refund my card transaction unless I drove to the store, and I refuse to drive 120 miles (counting both trips) to get exactly what I would have had if I never went to their store, so I've been dealing with them on multiple fronts.
  24. Hmm. Well that sucks. Apparently that whole "Send me an email when this becomes available" feature doesn't actually work. Oh well. Back to seeing if Gamestop will honor my order.
