  1. I think it would have been better if they had just used the Japanese names of the Awakening characters. The nod to Awakening would still be there in a veiled way, and it would have preserved the naming scheme.
  2. True on both counts. I certainly hope that it looks better in person. Though that may make me regret my decision not to get this version. That said, I tend to be a fan of a single, prominent focal point as the design, though a tasteful border is always nice. I much prefer the one on the right as opposed to the one on the left in this case, though so far I think all the Zelda 3DSs have had wonderful designs.
  3. The difference there, at least for me, is that while both of those were minimalistic/barebones, the artwork itself popped. You could see from a distance what it was, even if you didn't really know what you were looking at. In this case, the art blends into the rest of the system too much. I think it's too hard to see. Then again, if the artwork was more pronounced, I would probably say it looked too busy. I think the "simplicity' comes from it being harder to see more than from the actual design being minimalistic. It's absolutely covered in designs that aren't exactly all lined up in a way that would seem balanced if they contrasted with the background better.
  4. Yeah, Joker seemed like an odd name choice. I think "Rhajat" is pronounced "Raw j at," with the j sound being the same as in the word "Japan." Could be wrong about that though. It's an odd name that seems out of place as far as the naming conventions go, but maybe that's the point considering the character. And while I have some quibbles with certain names here and there, the only one that really bothers me is going from Eponine to Nina. Eponine is a much prettier and seldom used name, so I'm sad to see it go. Nina's not a bad name, but I don't like it nearly as much.
  5. If it's the one I'm thinking of, I'm not that impressed by it. Too busy and just overlaying the box art onto the system. I wish that the artwork on the US version was a bit more pronounced, and I think it would have been nice if they had a reversed version of it for people who prefer Conquest. I also think the inside is too plain. Would have been nice to either keep the duality motif, or have the inside reflect Invisible Kingdom.
  6. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like it. This is the first time I've used this site, so I'm not too familiar with it. That said, you might be able to use this to your benefit.
  7. Play-Asia itself can send you an alert for the item on its page.
  8. I always figured that Sonic CD was a similar case to Funimation having Bruce Faulconer rescore Dragonball Z, less to do with rights and more to do with localization. It just seems odd to limit the odds to the Japanese release. I can't see what they would lose by selling the rights for other versions, and I'd think you'd be able to get a larger paycheck by giving up more, especially if what you're giving up isn't particularly useful to you. I know it happens, but it still strikes me as odd.
  9. But wouldn't Nintendo already have the rights to use her voice in the game? I mean, they paid her to voice act for the character, so I imagine that would mean she had to give Nintendo the rights to her performances as Azura. Unless her contract specified it was only to be used in limited territories or something, I can't imagine the rights being the issue. Especially because I don't see what she has to gain from not allowing them to use her performance in other territories. If nothing else, it's advertising for her other ventures if nothing else. Though it might not even be her, but her label, opposing it. Would still be weird to me though.
  10. I'm still finagling with Gamestop about getting my copy through them (and apparently there's hope), but I'll be keeping an eye out over here too. Thanks for the info.
  11. Does street pass let you duplicate DLC class changing items like the Exalt Brand that are otherwise unique?
  12. In my opinion, this whole thing has been a PR nightmare. If Nintendo would actually bother to properly communicate things, I don't think the backlash and paranoia about censorship would be nearly as severe. Just to lend an outsider's perspective on the post you replied to, but I didn't take it to mean that the poster thought that you had "childish eyes." To me, it came off as though they were criticizing Nintendo for censoring their product because evidently, they view the Western audience as children who cannot possibly handle the idea of physical contact between people without their innocence being destroyed. I do think it was an insult, but not one directed at you. Then again, I may be completely off base. As for the rest of your comments, I don't really think that anyone who wanted the skinship thing to be in the final product wants Fire Emblem to become a hentai series, and I think the leap of rubbing someone's head to full blown porn is about as sound as assuming that the series will eventually allow you to slowly torture and dismember people because the game has violence as its central mechanic. Sure, there is some risqué dialogue in those skinship videos, but there's been risqué elements throughout the series, and I don't think it ever became something that would be considered to be for adults only. Like I said earlier, I'm bothered by the removal despite not really being into the feature and being someone who would have campaigned against it if I had been part of the development team. The time for removing it was during production in my opinion, and so they missed the boat and the (skin)ship has sailed, and I don't think torpedoing it now does them any good, especially if they're going to be secretive about their reasoning behind including it in one region and not another as well as what they're replacing the content with. It just fuels speculation, suspicion, and distrust. I don't think there's anything they can say that would quell everybody, but I don't think their refusal to properly engage people pleases anybody.
  13. It just seems like an odd use of the real estate. Going left to right, the pairings go 8-8-6 rather than a more even 8-6-8, and you squeeze 9 people into the smallest box on the bottom while giving a much larger box to a group that only has 4 people.
  14. "Normality breeds apathy" as the saying goes. Letting it slide one time made it easier to do it the next time, and so on. Granted, not being able to poke Takumi and Jakob in the eyes for being silly heads isn't exactly a hill I'm willing to die on, and the removal of the feature isn't enough to keep me from the new game if I can get the special edition, but I think it is a stupid call exacerbated with Nintendo's poor handling of the situation. Hopefully, this whole fiasco will help motivate Nintendo to actually talk to people and give details about things like this, rather than just have the people in call centers go "I don't have anything to tell you."
  15. Thank you. I'll try and make use of this in a bit. One suggestion I do have is making a clearer line of separation between the Birthright and Conquest fathers. Have the PC and Azura (and the other characters that aren't exclusive) in the middle with Nohr on the left and Hoshido on the right, with the potential spouses in similar positions, mirroring the box art.
  16. I haven't decided on any pairings for Female Avatar, but so far my pairings for Male Avatar Birthright: Kinu Conquest: Flora Revelations: Azura Going to use the first two playthroughs to look at the pairings and figure out if there's any kid I don't particularly like, due to the spouse shortage problem. As of now, I'm pretty sure that in the Revelations universe, Deere isn't going to exist.
  17. Oops. Somehow I completely forgot to check here. That's embarrassing. Thank you
  18. Is there a list of the movement ranges of each class/what terrain they are affected by? Last I checked the wikis, none of them listed movement in the stats.
  19. Howdy! As someone's whose initial reaction to the whole skinship/petting mini game was "...Weird," I'm sad to see the feature gone. Not because I was super into it, though I became a little more interested in it after seeing what it looked like in motion and seeing the animation, but because it sucks to know that features that were completed were seemingly arbitrarily excised from the product in other regions. I didn't really ever want this feature, and had I been on the development staff, would have probably campaigned against it, both on the grounds that it seems like a weird feature in general, and also because it doesn't particularly seem to fit into a Fire Emblem game in the same way that say, a train simulator would seem out of place in Fire Emblem Fates. But it was approved, developed, and released, and at that point I think the (skin)ship has sailed. If it makes it to Port Positive Reception, awesome. If it hits an iceberg and sinks, now you know. But sending out a submarine to scuttle it after you've launched it but before anything has gone wrong, doesn't strike me as the way to go. If nothing else, it seems to be a gross waste of resources. Sure, those resources could have almost certainly been better used elsewhere, but you've already invested them into this, so why remove it now? It's not like doing so is going to yield a gain on those investments. Now, I'm not going to call this censorship, since it's Nintendo itself electing to do it as publisher, which I define as editing (or self-censorship if you want to throw around the c word), even when outside forces are calling for it to be edited (as they have no power to actually force the change), but I don't like it when finished products are re-edited for other markets. It's one thing when future versions get extra material added in (as is often the case with games like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts), but the removal of content as a general rule is displeasing to me. And I don't see how it was "necessary" as other people who applaud the removal do. It's a side feature that to my knowledge, was completely optional, so it was by no means necessary to remove it for the sake of say, narrative flow. Moreover, while an odd feature, it seemed rather tame. Rubbing someone's head or touching their cheek doesn't strike me as particularly inappropriate in the West, and I don't think it was to anyone's benefit that such features were removed. Removing this because it was too risque or inappropriate for Western audiences seems disingenuous. Now for me, this isn't a deal breaker, but it is disappointing that a feature I don't see anything wrong with is getting removed for what seem like arbitrary reasons. Silver lining: The people who are actually going to cancel their preorders of the Special Edition will make it easier for me to get my hands on a copy of it. :D
