  1. I just got the game too. I'll let you know if I encounter this problem as well once I start playing it this weekend. I bought all the DLC except the free t-shirt designs and the unlock thing (that hands you everything from the onset) I'll have a response for sure before Monday
  2. As I read the responses, a part of me hopes and wishes that actual makers of the game visit this site and review threads like this. I mean this is a treasure trove of feedback. Besides this site is probably the #1 or top of the list used by fans of the franchise (as far as I can see for English speakers). Like this could help them make the fans happy. Well, now that I've said that, I'll also throw in my 2ยข I couldn't say this FE is at the top of the list. I'd probably be like in spot #6 or lower. #1) I disliked the level of customization. I preferred the GBA and GameCube/Wii series style of setting up characters. Stick them in one class branch and leave them there. This is further compounded by my need to keep them in their "canon" class to keep their appearance matching. I dislike looking at Hilda in all that sharp pointy armor as a Wyvern Lord compared to her causal outfit she has in the monastery. Or Flayn dressed too gaudy as a Grimory (which also clashes with her personality) instead of her altered school uniform. Overall the system made me spend too much time optimizing them and leveling them as classes to improve their growth rates than fighting with them for fun. I didn't even mind Fates system or them having maybe 2 additional classes with the ability to add like one or two more. #2) for reasons already stated above. I didn't like the monastery segment of the game. It ate up way too much time. I remember my first play thru of each path was averaging somewhere between 50 - 80 hours but when I started not talking to people and skipping certain things, I made it past the first 8 chapters in like 3 hours (cause I was trying to grind the scenes of the goddess tower with everyone. Then I figured I could save the week before and just talk to the guard and change my answer choices then proceed to watch the scene then reset) #3) also didn't like the balance of certain classes and how absurdly broken some where plus the gender locking they did. Overall I feel like playing with certain classes was more rewarding than playing with others and this felt pretty heavier in this game than in others. #4) I did love the world building and character development so that is a plus. #5) I'm sad there was no shape shifting classes. I miss my dragons #6) I liked some new mechanics but feel they need refining. Like the giant monsters, the battalions, the pair up system, and so forth. I hope this was just an experiment. #7) I love how they drop the child segment. Awakening was okay but eh. Fates was absolutely horrendous on how they executed it. Hope we don't have another waifu game created again #8) I want them to figure out what they are doing or what their goal is of self insert avatars and figure out how to make them. It's weird having a silent MC. I liked how I was following the story of Ike and not supposed to imagine my self being inserted in the game itself or when they did execute it in the GBA series, I like how I was a helper for Blazing Sword but I was not relevant to the story. It was fun helping Lyn, Eliwood, and Hector. Awakening was done pretty good too but I doubt they can pull that off again. The ever evolving system present in Dragon Age and Fable are awesome examples. You can see how they change their tone and become new people based off choices you make. I loved my sarcastic smartass Hawk in Dragon Age 2. In Fable 3 I also enjoyed my character changing based off my choices and how the world interacted with me after. When I did a evil run, seeing villages scream and run away from me was rewarding. So overall, it did some good stuff and also did some bad stuff. It doesn't make it to the top of my list but for a fire emblem game, I was pretty happy at least giving it a shot. This was the first fire emblem game where I was more interested in playing other franchises than a FE.
  3. If you use a magic weapon with a combat art, does it go based off magic or strength? Like say for example I had a Levin Sword and used Wrath Strike. Or if I used Bolt Axe with Smash or Wild Abandon? Will the formula go based off my magic (with fiendish blow, magic battalion, etc) and target an enemies res? Or do combat arts go based off str even with magic weapons?
  4. Okay, so sorry it took me a while, but since I had put my play thru on hold I wasn't able to give an accurate response. Now I can most definitively answer you. Whoever isn't at level 20 will automatically go straight to 20 and stop there. I took screen shots on my switch and was on the chapter before and then compared to them to after and saw the jump for all of them. (keep in mind most these people I had mainly just for their paralogues and support chains) Constance was at 14, Mercedes was at 15, Hanneman was at 17, Manuela was at 15, Yuri was at 11, Balthus was at 11, and Hapi was at 11. But after time skip every single one of them got put at level 20. They were still in their intermediate classes too (so no they don't get promoted to adv classes). On the other hand, my students from Black Eagles were all at level 30 (with 2 of them at 31) and then post time skip) plus a few others I like to play with Lysithea gained 3, Petra gained 2/3, Dorothea gained 2, Bernadette gained 0, Caspar gained 3, Linhardt gained 1, and Ferdinand gained 3. (Im guessing for Petra since I can't remember if she'd leveled up right before the battle ended). Those 9 level up gains were most definitely shocking. But now I wonder if I had recruited a person before they got put in their Int class while still in the Beginner classes, if they would have been left behind in those had I not bought them manually myself. Cause then all those levels would have been with low growth rates
  5. 1) You say the word "stuff" but what are you were referring to? 2) for the Church, Lion, and Deer routes, they'll all share the following chapters/battles Ch13 defeat the bandits after timeskip Ch14 fight off Randolph's assault Ch15 battle at Valley of Torment Ch16 battle at bridge Myriddan After this some routes somewhat differ. For Lions and Deers you get Ch17 Battle at Gronder. The following battles (but at different points in time) will still take place on these 3 routes; battle at fort merceus, battle at empire capital, battle at the empire palace. That's 3 chapters that don't go away. Since the church is only 21 chapters (as opposed to Lions and Deers 22 chapters) that really is the bulk of most of the game. Church has one less battle but shares the battle at the underground base of TWSITD and has a unique final battle. The golden deer has only one additional battle of Gronder compared to church plus it's final battle is unique. So those two basically the same. The Lions has just slightly more diversity. It matches with Deers all the way up to Chapter 17 Battle at Gronder. But chapter 18 and 19 are new with you taking back the Kingdom palace and then saving Claude. But then it goes back to it's final 3 chapters being the exact same as the church/deer battles where you take Fort Merceus, then the city, then the palace being the finale. So long story short, Church is one less battle than both and has a unique end. Deer is church but with Gronder battle plus it's own unique final. Lions is like the Deer route except it's unique battles are at ch18 & 19 (so no unique final battle or fighting TWSITD). When you look at it from a mathematical point of view, they all share 19 out of the 21/22 battles. At most they only differ by 2 battles. Deer and Lions have 20/22 battles being the same. Had the church included the battle at Gronder it would have 21 out 22 chapters the same as Deer only having a unique final.
  6. They are getting a bonus based off the the weekly specials. Like for example, on the week where Sweet Tooth is activated, any characters who like sweet food get a bonus increase to their support points as well as the their motivation increase. The dishes that fall under the category of being sweet are also highlight when selecting the meal (before you hit A and then you start selecting people) When you first talk to the lunch lady and select Full Menu you'll see the first few dishes at the top with an arrow (Peach Sorbet for example). Those are the dishes that are enhanced. Then after you select a dish, the characters who also like sweets will have both a blue up arrow and an orange one (Like Lysithea or Annette). The blue arrow indicates who like the dish you selected while the orange indicates who is getting a bonus in addition to that. There are weekly bonuses for a few things. Sweets, Spicy, fish, meat, and harvest (which is vegetables) and probably more. I can't remember them all. I forgot to mention, you can find a red arrow with orange combo. For example on the week where they are serving food that Alliance, Kingdom, or Empire students are enhanced, you could select a dish a person dislikes but they still get the orange arrow because for that week they still fall under the category of getting a bonus. For example, Felix dislikes sweets. But on the week where kingdom students get a bonus, you could feed him Peach Sorbet and he still gets the orange arrow
  7. I could have sworn earlier when someone came in this thread and mentioned how they used firearms to fight off critters and protect their livestock, you and another had mentioned that was a good example of proper firearm ownership. Maybe it was just one other? Hmmm....well anyways, you should be both disappointed and amused. I would be. I thank you and commend you for the effort you exert. I was also eye balling those topics about Edelgard and the morally grey story and reasoning behind actions. It did indeed get heated. I was going to weigh in but decided it was more entertaining to keep reading. That one thread of an appreciation to her by some who had fire in their name and another major contributor named omegaxis was pretty intense. I don't blame you as far as in wanting to deal with something else more simple. Edit: it was Darkmoon something not fire
  8. Here lies the problem. Your perception of the expectations in this thread within this section on this site. This is for serious discussion. Discourse of topics like this aren't intended for us to reach a conclusion. They are op-ed. We aren't leaders or politicians so we won't be passing any laws here. On the other hand, we will come here to learn, share ideas, disagree, go back and forth with each other and so on. Ultimately why we come here is to be challenged academically. We come to be put to the test and think critically. Most of us that have been browsing this site know who the regulars are and whose new. With that being said, you probably just are misunderstanding eclipse's intentions in her words. ( @eclipse correct me if I'm wrong here on this part) but she isn't dismissing you. I've seen her posting in various sections of this site and I can vouch that in this section, she isn't abusing her authority. (not that my word is particularly weighted). All she is doing is challenging your train of thought or information. She is trying to help you grow. All of us in this section (serious discussion) are doing that. At least most of us are. So keep in mind that when you think you are arguing "against" others, you are already in the wrong. You're here to help others grow. If your intent is to come claim victory in a discussion, you are here for the wrong reason. And ultimately, you will fail in reaching your goal. This section is for scholars as well as a place to share info and ideas. I myself have had to bow out numerous times in various sub threads because I realized I had a flawed perception or understanding of whatever it was I was talking about. I stepped down to spend time thinking and making sure I grew from each of my interactions. The latest responses (within the last 3 hours) even demonstrate how we are being provoked into looking at it from another angle or that we are missing something. When discussing philosophy or sociology, there really isn't a clear cut right/wrong. So, I've digressed long enough. Just keep the spirit in mind of how you are debating. I'd hate to see you get banned. You present some interesting ideas
  9. Uh Brigand has class modifier of 1 for Brawling and one of Byleth's best classes EO has a modifier of 2 so the female one can also get Brawling levels pretty fast too. From level 5 to level 10 Fighter gives 1 to Axes, Bows, and Brawling. Then from level 10 to 20 Brigand also gives 1 (which most people go for Death Blow) and if you can switch around chapter 8 or 9 (I forgot when you get the EO class) then you get a mod of 2. Female Byleth has plenty of chances to increase the skill. Male only has the advantage of getting a 3 modifier after level 20 and two classes for Brawling Grappler and War Master. Post DLC release now Females can get the 3 modifier too from War Cleric. It just isn't a great class to end with. Males don't get levels faster. But males do get better end game options.
  10. I thought the level ups when going to post timeskip were somewhere between 1 and 4 (each character varying) but at the very least if a person wasn't at least 20 it would auto put them at 20. (The 1 to 4 were for people already pass level 20)
  11. I keep alternating between the two. Neither feels canon from my perspective and I'm pretty apathetic toward the design and outfit. As far as self insert avatars go and games that let you pick, I don't really think about it but I do know instinctively I didn't like male Corrin. Being that indecisive as a dude was a total turn off. I felt like he had no spine lol. Robin felt more female than male but only cause Chrom kept saying things that made me cringe if we were both dudes. I get he talked about ideals and what not but some lines were pretty embarrassing. What redeemed male Robin was the female marriage options. Tharja, Say'ri, and Severa were difficult to pass up. Post the waifu saga beginning in this franchise at Awakening, this title actually had a few females I love but simultaneously refuse to lewd. I didn't think Nintendo could pull it off but they did. After so many of their characters (Peach, Bowsette, Samus, Zelda, and etc) becoming victims of rule 34, this game put out a few people it sucks to see get the 34 treatment on the internet. ~shrugs~
  12. So then by this logic when you combine these two statements, it's obvious we need more guns. And in addition to that, even more powerful guns that can decimate hundreds of people or at least 50 cals as well as DU Tips and armor piercing. Why I say that? Because thus far what I've gathered from the discussion was that if the context of the 2nd amendment was made to help the people maintain their freedoms (by force if peace isn't an option) and to keep "milita" ready in the event that the government is oppressing it's people, then the people need weapons up to date and on par with fighting back against the military (should the government give them the command to start using force against the citizens). Because your right. A conventional firearm won't do jack squat against the military so as it stands now, in the context of the 2nd amendment we already are having our constitutional right being denied. In other words, we need less gun control. So any restrictions such as higher grade weapons being unavailable, silencers being banned or hard to get, and so forth all need to be removed. The current citizen (if it were to form a milita) wouldn't stand a chance against the military. So that means our government has slowly been suppressing us passing more and more restrictions while their army is getting more powerful and completely outclassing the people ability to fight back. Btw, as I make this statement, I'm only pointing out a perspective to look at this from. Where I stand at on the issue is different but as I am reading this discussion and hearing some say context matters, it's clear we aren't even aligned with the 2nd amendment. In fact we don't even have a trained milita in case all of sudden the government wanted to oppress us. You saying that the founding fathers didn't know technology or weapons would advance this far and that they didn't suspect they'd be used this way on innocent citizens, is a pretty good point. The more I think about it, these hand guns seem insufficient as far as in when you look at it from the perspective of us having to be ready to protect our freedom. I think these tools were more or less the result of an industry finding a way to pitch a certain narrative saying you need them (so they can make sales).
  13. Oh okay. I grasp why the police thing came up. It's another angle to look at this from.
  14. This is happening here in Houston too in the Texas Medical Center (TMC) area. Visitation is completely shut down with only 3 kinds of exceptions. The elective surgeries are halted till May. The ICU hit full capacity about 2 weeks ago and more hospitals are reporting they are full in the TMC area. NBC news did an article with Methodist and an interview with staff which shows how some information isn't making headlines yet. Houston is going to start looking like New York possibly. Funeral Homes are having hard time with transportation of the deceased. More and more are getting turned away. This information is from a primary source btw. They recently start passing out masks to us and instructed us to wear them at all times plus our hospital (possibly others as well) entered lockdown. Meaning anyone coming in has to get screened every time you enter. Hey Rezzy, how is your hospital doing with the workers who were stationed in the ORs? Are they forcing them to use PTO to make up their 40 a week or just suspending them? I'm asking cause I wanna know how differently we are reacting. I feel bad for the staff getting stretched thin ๐Ÿ˜ž
  15. I have a question. So when one makes the case for or against gun control, what exactly is being debated? I sorta see multiple angles to approach the discussion but I'm not sure which exactly is the main point. Or what takes priority. If it is a legal right or not? If it is a necessary right to be granted to the citizens? How much it impacts crimes where guns are used and if making a change will move the results in a more favorable direction? If it is something that needs to be looked at from the point of view of it being an unalienable right? I mean I could go on, but I'm sure you can see how confused I am. Are we determining whether they are a "need" or "want"? Cause as I read this forum, I feel like people's objectives are all over the place. I mean for more than a page of responses, we were talking about police. I see how it came up but don't know how it is relevant to gun ownership on an individual level.
  16. I'm surprised the people who go reading code haven't put out an official or comprehensive list of supports based off their timing. As a completionist, I'm down to my last 10 characters and then I'll have all the supports unlocked in the extras menu. I'm so happy ๐Ÿ™‚ i have another question. Does anyone have a list of rewards from all the paralogues. In terms of what you get after the battle is complete (battalions, stat boosters, and weapons) as well as any chests or enemy drop valuables in the battle as well (stat boosters). What I mean by the second part, I'm referring to how in Marianne's paralogues one wolf has a Giant Shell, and in Leonie's & Linhardt's paralogue one enemy has a Spirit Dust. I know those chests have some goodies but I'm having a hard time picking which people to grab so I can run the most valuable paralogues
  17. Assuming she wasn't defeated, this would count as a glitch and a problem you need to report. While reporting, you will need to provide proof she wasn't KO'd and if you aren't 100% sure, they won't be able to help you. On the flip side, if you playing classic mode (where if they get KO'd, they stay gone) and she was KO'd then there is nothing more you can do with her. No more returning lost items, no more meals, no more daily mission help, you can't recruit her, and so forth. Including those supports are locked out now. Now that you've progressed in the game and didn't reset back to before she was KO'd, it will remain like that. That's what happens when any body gets defeated. All interactions with them get locked out. For students, you get no options after initiating a conversation with them. For knights and staff of the church, you can still get their Training option to increase your weapon skill levels. That's the punishment for letting them get beaten. You'll have to either reboot to a point before that chapter, or just leave her behind
  18. Keeping in mind I'm in the serious discussion section I say this not in a joking manner, but for us to pause and contemplate something. Here it goes. Leaders in the porn industry across multiple sites like Pornhub, Fakku, and so forth are actually trying to encourage people to stay home. It's on various ads as well as crowbarred into the side panels of the websites. Furthermore they are offering free subscriptions during this situation that is unfolding. Think about that. People whose sole job is to sell sex and porn are rising up to make a contribution in the name of keeping people safe by telling them to stay home and masturbate. I mean, I get it isn't like these business officials are doing it completely 100% in good faith and that their is some kind of benefit, but wow. This has such long reaching effects that even industries you wouldn't think would even be touched by Covid19, are actually reflecting the change in behaviors and patterns of the consumers. After seeing a few ads with the offers talking about sign up now, and pornhub even having a box where you have to check off TWICE that you understand you need to play your part in social distancing and wash your hands, I can honestly say I'm amused. Like wow ya know. A porn site is telling me to be safe and not go get infected and die on them. Sites like Fakku must really value their customers. It's either that, or I'm missing the real motive and intent behind these decisions. I am thoroughly impressed.
  19. Yes. But the last two (the fortune teller mainly) aren't accessible until after chapter 13. You can still access the pagan alter and search the junk pile.
  20. I ran a bolting mage on dark flier with Darting Blow, Fiendish Blow, Reason lv5, weight -5, and Tomefaire. Proceeded to one round a few bosses in the later chapters after 17 on Azure Moon. They were able to hit over 70 (I'm rounding down since I can't remember the number) prior to factoring in Resilience. With a warper, dance of the goddess, and stride I only had to cover half the field and shot from a distance. I'd say Dark Flier is pretty OP. But there are a few other things to my set up I'm leaving out. Over all, I'd say not able to over throw but definitely you want to add one to your team to help delete enemies. Hit and run and if you give that flier Thrysus then all the better. Constance ran to the end with 51 mag (including me giving her like two spirit dusts and one premium magic herbs). My albino Loli ran over 54 mag with just one spirit dust consumed. Sadly she doesn't have anything long range so i had to get her close to delete bosses. It was fun playing with DF. I've yet to run a dedicated Valkyrie. But from how I saw Hapi perform, I'd say for a horseback mage it beats or feels better than Gremory. One extra move and more range is better than x2 magic uses. At least now the mage can fight back against archers and snipers making Warlocks mastered ability Bowbreaker more useful if you don't give that said mage a range staff. I didn't compare the base stats given by the class but I think it was better than dark Knight. I always used Grappler for males leveling up between 20 to 30 since it give core stats for melee fighters (Hp, Str, Dex, and spd) which was the best out of adv classes but had a tough time for female melee people other than using Paladin. Now I'm using War Cleric since it's basically a slightly re-speced Grappler available to them. Hilda had way more HP and Str than usual by the end of one of my runs and her Dex wasn't RNG butt f**ked. I dunno about endgame staying in the class but Trickster and War Monk/Cleric give good growth rates as an option for mage people to level up as. I used Assassin to level up some peeps who sorely needed Spd and Dex but now Trickster also gives some luck and Res making it useful for mages (since luck is part of their aim formula). I'm happy these classes give me more ideas and ways to optimize my people. But I can only see using DF for fighting past lv 30 for some mages. Hope my feedback helps or gives others idea of how to use them.
  21. Well (maybe) just like how the avatar's father has the crest of Seiros since Rhea shared blood with him and then it manifested, Seteth and Flayn also shared blood with others? (just a wild guess)
  22. Those two sentences I bolded are what is confusing me. Can you elaborate? Because from what I'm reading it sounds like you had 5 different play thrus going on all at once. You have to beat the game and continue from that same save file regardless if it is in slot 1 or slot 4. Once you beat the game, reload that same file and choose to start a NG+ run. That is what it means to "chain" multiple play thrus. Because my info contradicts your info. So let's look at what my current run is showing. Keep this one thing in mind. I didn't start recruiting any other house students aside from the one I'm playing in until this run. So in my first one I was a male avatar with golden deer. On my 2nd run I did a female golden deer play. On my 3rd run I did a male blue lions run. Now I'm on my 4th run with female avatar blue lions and I just decided I'd start playing with some yellow students. After recruiting them I'm able to re-rank their skills and back at where I left them at. Which contradicts your info since on my 3rd play thru I didn't even touch the yellow students so their weapon skills should not have been able to be re-ranked or purchase since by default they wouldn't have rank any of their skills other than just two of them. If you want to switch to PM just hit me up so we can figure out what is going on. Cause I will admit I'm confused based off how you worded your sentences so I need some clarification.
  23. Okay so for all intents and purposes let's say you were saving on Slot1. You beat with S+ Swords and you save right before it does the credit roll and shows you your unit's performance and MVPs. Afterwards you are back at the start screen where you can save, copy, delete, and view the records. You select the save Slot1 and it prompts you if you want to continue (as in watch the credits roll again and check out your MVPs) or if you want to start a NG+. Say you start the NG+ and after clearing a few chapters you are still saving over Slot1. This time you go for S+ in Axes. You beat the game and save right before the credits roll and etc. Here you are back at the start screen and you (for whatever reason) copy the Save Slot1 over to Slot3. And let's say you follow the prompts again and do another play thru saving over Slot3 but this time you beat the game with Fists at S+. Credits roll and MVPs are shown. Back at home menu again. Slot 3 remebers you did Sword, Axe, and Fist up to S+. Slot 1 only remembers you doing Sword and Axes. So if you continue from Slot1 that'll be your 3rd play thru but if you choose Slot3 that will be your 4th play thru. When you have access to the journal in your room and can buy skills, prof lv, and etc the journal will only show you what you accumulated on the slot you are in. Slot 1 will only let you re-buy Swords and Axes to S+ but Slot3 will allow you to re-rank and buy your Sword, Axe, and Fist skills. Also in case you are wondering, say on your first play thru you got up to S+ in Fist and beat the game. Then on the 2nd play thru you got up to only B and then beat the game. On the 3rd play thru when you access your journal, you can still buy and re-rank Fist up to S+ since that was the highest you ever achieved and the game remembers that. (This is also assuming you are still continuing over the same save file/slot and haven't moved off of it.) The game remembers everything you've accomplished based off the chain you are on (or slot). So if you did 9 play thrus on your 10th play thru you can re-rank your skills that improved and did back on your 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and so on. So the longer the chain the more beneficial. It also affects how much renown you are rewarded for how many play thrus you've done but that is something else all together. If at any point in time you choose not to pursue a certain skill and leave it at rank E or lower than that one time you maxed it, it won't matter since the journal remembers you've maxed it out one play thru at one point in time. Either that or it will remember however far you did get it. (Also if you get half the exp in C+ on your way to rank B but then beat the game, when you access your journal you can buy back up to C+ but that left over exp you had in the meter will have to be refilled again)
  24. Im a little familiar with history during certain eras like with the Han dynasty, the Greek and Roman battles, and etc. But what I really wanted to put an emphasis on was the fantasy setting of flying mounts. How do they not hit their wings? As well as all those little acrobatic stunts. It just blows my mind. I remember seeing the crit for Pegasus Rider on Fates with the front flip and spear extended. That looked so unreal. Or on the Kinshi Knight (the bird promotion). Some stunts look a little more realistic but the part of cleaving thru your enemy and flying past them also seems to unreal. -------- I liked how in PoR and RD they had a separate section for the tutorials with Anna teaching us. Maybe they could bring that back as well as give us the actual formulas? Maybe we should all request it on IS and FE Twitter accounts or something like that. Maybe if they see enough support we can get them to add. I mean they listened to us and fixed those God awful feet from Awakening when going over to Fates. Those little peg legs scarred me forever. I could never stop looking at them. Like someone else mentioned before but they did do something like that back during Blazing Sword. The litany ring gave like avoid, the Thor ring gave Critical, and Nils ring gave def/res. In later fire emblem they added a skill in Awakening onward that gave a bonus/buff when you danced. They should expand on the bard role. It's a creative class. In Awakening onward those gave it the command name "Rally" and gave different versions albeit it wasn't clear the rally bots were bards or dancers. I felt Fates rally skills were nerfed but oh well. And it was also mentioned but the Herons from the Tellius games were also great buffers. Hopefully they keep expanding on it or make a class out of it. Maybe give it some passive skills to help keep the bard/dancer alive or from being targeted like those stealth skills.
