Newbie (1/14)

  1. It's ridiculous to think professional workers would decline to continue translating a game just because their fee-fees were hurt. I can't believe anyone would believe that.
  2. Because Takumi is a much juicier target for possession than Gunter, and that is something that wasn't planned by Anankos. Takumi falls into the Bottomless Canyon while engaging Nohrian troops in Birthright and Conquest. In Revelation, both the Hoshidans and the Nohrians retreat from the frontlines due to Corrin disrupting the initial battle by taking out the forward commander of each side in Ch. 6, thus Takumi isn't thrown into the Bottomless Canyon in the subsequent battle.
  3. That's not even the only issue. If you don't ever play as F. Corrin, you can't get the battle dialogue between Jakob and Flora in CQ, which has I think what is probably the most crucial bit of story info about Felicia and Flora.
  4. Garon is sound of mind and clearly capable of planning in both Birthright and Conquest, it's only in Revelation that he goes insane to the point of incompetence.
  5. LTC play is where she shines because no one is likely to reach B-staves without an Arms Scroll.
  6. This is what Garon says when he orders Iago to torment Corrin, which is a mission that Iago takes to heart for the entire rest of the campaign: Garon: "[Corrin] must fight those he doesn't wish to fight... kill those he doesn't wish to kill. His sorrow will feed the darkness in his soul. And his suffering will make him a worthy sacrifice upon the altar of Anankos." Well, what better way to achieve the above than force Corrin to take command in the invasion of his supposed birth land? To force Corrin to fight against his own "blood" siblings? Corrin's army is also a very small part of the actual invasion force, and the royal siblings, while extremely strong and useful, are still nothing more than pawns to Garon.
  7. What exactly is so flimsy and absurd about Garon putting Corrin in charge of the invasion force when Corrin has been bringing consistent miraculous successes, and it aligns with his own personal goal of making Corrin suffer?
  8. Flora's worth as a unit is her humongous base skill. Combination of decent Mag + excellent Skl means she's very accurate with status staves, and she comes with the staff rank to use all the relevant ones (notably she's the only staff user to come with the base rank to use Entrap from the get-go.) She's a support staffer you don't have to invest any resources into besides 3 DVP, and that's her main niche as a unit.
  9. Jakob and Felicia were right there. If she just stabbed herself, they'd just be able to heal her right back up, just like [spoiler=Revelation]when Gunter stabs himself through with a sword with the full intent to kill himself, only for Sakura and Elise to save him with their staves. Flora went that extra mile to make sure they couldn't help her.
  10. I'll explain, then. Like I said, the circumstances are different in each route despite being the same conflict. [spoiler=In Conquest]Corrin is sent to suppress the rebellion of the Ice tribe led by Kilma, chieftain and father of Flora. Flora fights to defend her village from what she perceives to be Nohrian invaders. When defeated in battle, Flora is defiant and berates Corrin's group for not finishing her off. Corrin responds to her hostilities with kindness and the conflict is settled peacefully without any serious blood spilled. Corrin reconciles with Flora. [spoiler=In Revelation]Flora is sent along with Camilla and members of her tribe to assault Corrin's army. Garon holds her village hostage, but because he is careless and desperate due to his haste in trying to stop Corrin from reaching Anankos, Flora is given enough wiggle room to suggest to her father that the villagers secretly evacuate the village. Flora fights Corrin's group with an aggressively cold attitude and laments her defeat. Once again, the conflict is settled without serious blood spilled and Flora leaves to assist her father in leading her tribe into hiding. [spoiler=All routes]Now, in Birthright, right off the bat, Kilma is completely absent from the narrative. Flora is acting as chief of the Ice tribe instead, and is even standing as the boss in the same spot Kilma is in Conquest. In the epilogues of Conquest, Flora eventually succeeds Kilma as chief of the Ice tribe, so her being the acting chief in Birthright can only really mean that Kilma is dead. So right off the bat, someone who Flora clearly deeply respected and wanted acknowledgement from is dead. How? Well, it's implied that Flora escapes the North Citadel not long after Corrin and Gunter heads for the Bottomless Canyon, and as Flora and Felicia are actually political prisoners of Nohr being held as hostages to prevent an insurrection from the Ice tribe, Flora escaping from Nohr and returning to her village is actually the key trigger for the rebellion. But without Corrin around, that means that Garon would have sent someone else to suppress the rebellion. Someone like say, Hans or Camilla, who certainly wouldn't have handled the suppression in the same way Corrin did. So Kilma and Flora have a failed rebellion on their hands, and they're prepared to die for it. But while Kilma is executed, Flora is brought back to Garon instead, because he has other plans for her. He gives her the choice between letting her tribe be slaughtered, or killing Felicia and Corrin with her own hands. When she hesitates to make the choice, Garon threatens to kill her on the spot if she can't choose, giving her 30 seconds. Under the threat of death, Flora chooses to kill Felicia and Corrin, a choice which must have surely haunted her. Not only that, but she's forced to take orders from Iago, and is sent to infiltrate and deceive Corrin and Felicia, and lure them to her own village in order to ambush them and kill them, all the while continuing to act as though everything was normal and bantering with Corrin and Felicia as usual. The guilt must have eaten her alive, and the difference in her attitude can be seen clearly in her defeat quote where she thanks Corrin's group for stopping her. Her pride has been completely broken and none of her defiance or composure in the other routes can be seen in her. Even in her battle quote against Corrin she loses her cool and lashes out. It's the same for her other dialogue, where it's clear she has a much more defeatist and resigned attitude to everything. All the collective events resulted in a much heavier guilty conscience than in the other routes.
  11. Actually, no they're not. The circumstances are different in each route and it's actually pretty consistent internally.
  12. DLC has always been a scummy business model and we knew this since release, what with the DLC only route and all. You shouldn't be surprised.
  13. No, but she is colder and more distant than Felicia, and not as approachable. Same with Saizo and Kaze. - They both have personalities that match their elemental theme; Flora is cold as ice while Saizo has a fiery temper. They are also actually quite emotional people despite their professional exterior. - Saizo wears a physical mask while Flora wears a figurative one. - Not just that, but Chapter 17 of Birthright focuses on the maid twins, while Chapter 17 of Conquest is focused on the ninja twins. - They both have their respective subplots get the spotlight in all three routes, but while Saizo is an ally in all three routes, Flora is an enemy in all three routes. - Gameplay-wise they both fulfill different roles of allied/enemy units across all three routes. In Birthright, Saizo is a playable unit. In Conquest, Saizo is a green unit who cannot be recruited and must be protected. In Revelations, Saizo is a green unit who can be recruited. In Birthright, Flora is a Rout Boss, meaning that she must be defeated along with every other enemy unit to end the map. In Conquest, she is an optional mini-boss. In Revelations, she is the Kill Boss target, and only she needs to be defeated to end the map.
  14. As a unit, I like Felicia the most because she remains a useful support unit while Jakob falls off pretty hard in comparison. As a character I much prefer Flora to the other two.
  15. "Damn I feel pretty bad about genociding this group of furries that tried to kill us." "Nah, it's cool, don't worry about it."
