  1. Slumber beat me to it, but Walhart, like many of the characters in Awakening, was more of a one-trick pony with his character gimmick being "I AM A STRONG CONQUEROR! BOW TO ME." He had potential, but he wasn't used well. I think we'll have to accept the fact that there's a 99.999999% chance that FE Switch will follow the same story as most of the Fire Emblems in the series. As much as I want my gritty, dark GoT-style Fire Emblem I don't think that'll happen. However, I do have a small amount of hope because the final Deliverance DLC map from SoV had a story (when isolated from the rest of the game) that was well done. There's also Chapter 19 from Thracia 776 where Leif screwed up royally and *actually* suffered the consequences of his actions. Hell, Conquest had a moment of brilliance when Corrin and his/her Nohrian siblings overtake the Hoshidian Capital. All the townsfolk openly revile Corrin because they saw him/her as an evil person who sought to decimate Hoshido. IS has it in them to write a good story, they just need to get an experienced writing team that's not afraid to do things differently.
  2. Do we get that reward package (the free 10 orbs and 10,000 feathers) now that this voting gauntlet has concluded? I thought we would have received them by now.
  3. My first pull was a 5 ★ Linde. She had terrible IVs (+DEF/-RES), but getting her early trivialized about 90% of the main campaign.
  4. I think the Duma eyeball thing was there because it was to show how his corrupted/insane soul manifested in his physical form. If you look at Duma's battle model, he does have eyeless sockets where normal eyes would be and his head structure is the same as Mila's (seen on her dragon skeleton model). I'd imagine that he used to look like a normal dragon until he lost his mind.
  5. Does anybody happen to have the sheet of all Thracia 776 overworld sprites? I found the one with all the mounted units, but I recall there being a compilation of non-mounted overworld sprites including unused classes like the Female Lopto Mage and Junior Lord. Forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask this kind of question.
  6. Ughhh... My eyes rolled pretty hard during the trailer. "BY THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP!!!" just makes me want to puke now. I never expected much from the story from this kind of game, but MAN that was the epitome of cookie-cutter/factory produced script. For once, JUST FOR ONCE, can we have a Fire Emblem game with no dragons? Can we have something new? I fear that Fire Emblem will become stale should this kind of Awakening/Fates style of crummy writing keeps up.
  7. Mage Knights, Mage Knights and more Mage Knights. I really want to have better choices for Green and Red Mage Knights since Leo and Cecilia are less than stellar even with Hone and Fortify Cavalry + Blade Tomes. Olwen and Reinhart are amazing, so I hope we get Azel, (FE4) Arthur, Miranda and Selena as choices in the near future. I really want to make the ultimate Magic Cavalry Team. I would like to see more Jugdral Characters in General since Seliph, Julia, Olwen, Lachesis, Eldigan, and Reinhart are the only representatives.
  8. ^This. I feel like we have the same tastes when it comes to out Fire Emblem games, Slumber. I would like a more "Game of Thrones-esque" Fire Emblem for sure. When I say this, I don't mean that I also want all the gore, guts, sex, and other screwed up stuff. However, I don't want to have the anime levity that was in Fates and Awakening, EVER AGAIN. SoV was so nice because it gave me a taste of a Fire Emblem game that took itself seriously. Even though there were moments in SoV that made me roll my eyes so hard ... ... I really want more Fire Emblem games to be like SoV in terms of presentation and tone. I want more morally grey characters, betrayals, deaths, disasters, more political intrigue and less of evil dragons going mad and taking over the world. I want the narrative to remain on a human scale for as long as possible.
  9. Wow! Welcome to SF! I loved your performance in SOV! If I have time, I'd love to watch part of your stream. I'm curious to see what classes you're going to make Kliff, Gray and Tobin promote to.
  10. I LOVE this. The text is very clean and the map sprites look awesome. I'd like to see more of your work on this project.
  11. I did play FE4. I beat it three times. I understand all your complaints. That's why if you divide the large maps into multiple chapters, you can reduce the amount of empty turns and downtime.
  12. Yeah, I don't like how the director of SoV wants to do Binding Blade next. While I have a soft spot for Elibe, since FE7 was my first Fire Emblem game, I desperately want FE4 and 5 done next. Binding Blade is most definitely the weakest GBA game and one of my least favorite FE's. FE7 is vastly superior to FE6. I think IS is aware of this, as you said. I predict that in a future remake, they will divide the entire map into parts. For instance, when Sigurd and co. attack Genoa in Chapter 1, that whole battle will be a "chapter". Then the team can rest, relax and prepare for the next battle in Genoa castle. Then you go to the next "chapter". That would be the most logical route to take, because I agree that FE4 is exceptionally tedious for having large maps.
  13. I started my first run on Normal/Classic. The massive gameplay issues I have are with Cantors. I hand-waved Cantors in Gaiden because Dear/Expel was ridiculously useful. Now that Dear/Expel has been nerfed, Cantors are a humungous pain in the ass. This is due to the fact that all the monsters they summon surround them on the battlefield, making it difficult for my powerful melee units to take them out. I can remedy this when I promote Est, Palla and Catria, but for now, they are an incredibly annoying enemy to face. I like HP casting mages. I just wish I could assign them a certain spell to counterattack with on enemy phase. Luthier gets doubled often because he defaults to Fire when enemies attack him. I wish he could switch to Excalibur because the spell weighs less and he'd be easier to train. I haven't run into any issues with Witches, yet, but knowing how the final battle goes in Gaiden, I know they'll be horrible units to contend with.
  14. This game has floored me with its presentation. I am beyond happy. These characters ACTUALLY feel like real people! What a world!
  15. Welp, you won me over. I'll give Mage!Tobin a chance then and go with Archer!Kliff. I guess I'll miss the extended range of spells like Arrow and Thunder, but Excalibur is the best spell and I believe there's a ring that can extend Excalibur's range with the "sorcery" passive. So... Mercenary!Gray Cleric!Faye Mage!Tobin Archer!Kliff ...is the way to go?
  16. Woah, woah, woah. I apologize if I came across as elitist, but that wasn't my intention at all. I just didn't like IGN's review because it wasn't very informed. I rambled in that post a bit, I'll grant you, but I was being very neutral. At least I think I was. I am most certainly not downplaying new fans. I'd like to have newcomers experience games like FE4 and 5 because they are pretty good games with pretty good characters. For instance, I'd like a remake of FE4 because Arvis has the potential to be Fire Emblem's best and greatest villain if he were given a proper expansion. That would be an excellent treat for both old and new fans. I wasn't trying to be mean, man.
  17. I agree with this analysis, but I still think I'll go with Cavalier! or Archer!Tobin for HM. I get that Mage!Tobin in Ch.1 is a godsend, but he'll fall behind once you run into the later chapters. I want a mage that'll be a worthwhile investment in the long run so I can easily wipeout the enemy barons that appear in Ch.4. So, I'll go with Mage!Kliff and give him 2 speed boosts at the Thieve's Shrine and Alm or Silque the other one. Hopefully the RNG is on my side. I'll let you know how that turns out. :P
  18. I knew IGN wouldn't give this game a particularly great score. I would understand why, had they attributed it to Cantor summon abuse, lack of unique battle objectives and bad map designs, but to make the issue of marriage and matchmaking that big of a big deal only reveals their naivety regarding FE's history. Matchmaking and children were never a "series staple," because the mechanic only appeared in three games: Genealogy, Awakening, and Fates (as we all know). When it comes to Fire Emblem, I always make my own judgements. Critics mostly praised Fates when it first came out, where I ended up abhorring the game for its horrific plot and cookie- cutter characters. The only thing I enjoyed about Fates was Conquest Chapter 10 and 21. I am glad that there are other journalistic sites that are giving the game good press. I want this game to succeed because newcomers need to experience more of the Kaga-era Fire Emblems. I am 90% sure that Genealogy will inevitably be remade because it'll have marriage and children (you know, when it was done well and with purpose) as well as familiar game mechanics like the weapon wheel.
  19. Does it take a relatively long time to master weapon skills? I don't like how skills are greyed out in the UI when you don't have a particular weapon equipped, because I think it looks rather ugly. I want to give a particular character a set weapon, like Mathilda with a forged Ridersbane, and have them rely on it for the majority of the game.
  20. Are you going to do an article about weapon skills? I am really curious about what weapons I should give units. Should physical units hold on to only one kind of weapon for the entire game considering that skills are tied to weapons only.
  21. I think Rescue would make Healers extremely useful. The rescue staff would have limited range, but it would help remove units from dangerous situations.
  22. Yeah, but they technically are the same character. Selena (FE8) and Selena (FE14) are two completely different characters. I wish Treehouse named Selena and Arthur differently, like Lune and Harold (why didn't they keep Arthur's name Harold?! FFS) to avoid confusion.
  23. All I want is more Mage Knights. All the potential Mage Cavalier Heroes are as follows: Azelle (potential red) and Arthur (potential green) (FE4) Miranda (potential red) and Ilios (potential blue) (FE5) Selena (potential green) (FE8) Arthur and Selena are probably not going to be in the game since Arthur and Selena from Fates already exist, so that leaves only Azelle, Ilios and Miranda.
  24. Yeah, there are plenty of candidates for Sword Fliers. There's pretty much every Pegasus Knight from FE4, FE5, FE6, FE7, FE8 and FE9-10 that could be one since Falcoknights had the option to equip swords. Adversa could definitely be a Red (Dark Mage like Raigh, Leo and Tharja) Mage Flier and come with Goetia as a personal tome. I am getting tired of infantry units and I would love to see more cavalier and flying units.
  25. If one takes a gander at the entire list of Heroes, they'll most likely notice that there is a dearth of certain playable class types including (but not limited to) Green and Red Mage Cavaliers as well as Bow Cavaliers. Here is a small list of the total amount of units per color and class type. I bolded the categories that had a noteworthy amount of units. Manaketes are included under the Infantry class types, FYI. Considering that Red Infantry units make up about 19% of the entire cast of heroes, what units would you like to see fill up some of the categories that don't have that many heroes? In my opinion, I believe that Azelle (FE4) and Miranda (FE5) are great candidates for Red Mage Cavalier Units, considering that the two mages promote into mage knights and have high fire magic ranks in their respective games. Even though they seem a bit obscure, Olwen and Reinhardt exist in Heroes, so there's that. I can't think of other "canonical" Red Mage Cavaliers. The only ones who have a remote possibility of fulfilling that role would be both Lute and Ewan from Sacred Stones, since they can both promote to mage knights, but I see them more as Red Infantry Mages. For Green Mage Cavaliers, Arthur (FE4) and Selena (FE8) are also likely candidates. Arthur, regardless of his father, comes equipped with a Wind tome and promotes into a Mage Knight. Selena's canon class is Mage Knight and her garb is primarily green. Mages from the GBA era of FE don't have an elemental specialty, so they can really be anything. As my list points out, Cecilia is the only Green Mage Cavalier in the game, so FE Heroes could use a few. I am very surprised that IS hasn't included any Bow Cavaliers. There are so many to choose from! Sue, Shin, Rath, Robert, Astrid and Selfina are excellent choices. I think they should also consider using some of the enemy barons from FE4, like Bloom or Reptor, to be Blue Armor Mages. That'd be pretty swell. That's all I have from my end so far, what units would you like to see represent an underused class category?
