  1. Mains and secondaries 64: Luigi, Mario Melee : Doc, Roy Brawl: Falco, Wario (PM: Roy, Mario) Sm4sh: Roy, Little Mac Roy was the first character I ever learned to properly play in smash, so I have always gravitated to his play style (yet I am surprisingly terrible with Marth)
  2. What a lot of people fail to mention is that Ryo did SD in that first match with Rosalina. Once that happened, the combination of rage and mindgames coming from Abadango made that game's momentum just end. I personally feel that if Ryo hadn't SD that round, he might have won. As a counter argument to myself, however, it is quite possible that Roy was such a surprise pick that no one expected anything from that made Abadango lose in the first place, (such as in the SF tournaments where the champion wins using Dan Hibiki). As a Roy fan, I would like to stay optimistic in that he is at least mid tier.
  3. Someone asked me this question not too long ago on Facebook, and l will say the same thing here. One of my favorite games of all time is Zen: Intergalactic Ninja for the NES. The story is kind of stupid (You play as an alien who comes to earth to help people recycle), but the gameplay is solid, and it's made by Konami and has stage selection, various gameplay styles, and is even quite fun, yet challenging. I recommend this to anyone who wants an obscure classic that is fun
  4. As of right now, I doubt it being likely, as none of the DLC has anything to do with Roy. So l wouldn't keep my hopes up. As for necro posting, l don't personally find anything wrong with it, but there isn't much to add to the topic anymore (unless he actually does get a einherjar release)
  5. Even though it goes against my boy Roy, I would have to agree that an appearance in Smash isn't necessarily proof of importance in FE. Corrin, for example, was being developed for smash even before Fates got a release. BUT it does affect notoriety and public opinion of the character. I had no interest in Leif, Alm, or Seliph in Awakening due to me not knowing the characters at the time. But that doesn't mean they are not important to FE at all. If anything, Fire Emblem Cipher is probably a better indication for FE importance than Smash
  6. FE6 and 7 sort of play with this idea, as the events of 7 do affect 6 (though minimalistic as it may be) and you can recruit some of the FE7 characters into 6. I would like to see a single game that plays like that, but where you basically get to effect the story. Or at least do like FE 7/12 where you meet them at first in (tutorial) act 1 then are able to recruit them again in act 2. I also wish act 1 wasn't a tutorial
  7. I feel that if all the old school protagonists, Sigurd might be the most important (besides Marth, of course)
  8. I know he's trolling for the sake of trolling, but man I hate when ppl say this.
  9. I just started playing yesterday, since l noticed that the game has still yet to get an update for him. Oh well. I am mainly just doing my castle battles until tomorrow though, just in case. EDIT: For those of you curious about it being compatible. As of this writing, the Roy amiibo is currently NOT compatible with Fire Emblem.
  10. Not 100% in order, since l KNOW l forgot someone, plus still waiting to play Fates Ephraim/Roy Dart Inigo Lyn Sain Athena Hector Dieck Stahl
  11. From what I noticed about Roy is that the main beef with him in FE is that he becomes a load to bear for a lot of the game. While other FEs do have this issues with characters waiting to promote (Including Lyn and the main Lord in most runs of FE7), Roy is stuck in his premote stage longer than anyone else, making this load bearing stage the most noticable. Going from average to useless tagalong to Pseudo-Nino status makes many people dislike him because he doesn't stand out more than anyone else in his class or in the whole Nino status thing. Personally, I enjoy the game much more when I use an action replay to make him promote much earlier than the game intends him to. I did like his personality in the games but I can see why people do not. From a Smash Bros perspective, even in Melee Roy is a better character to use than Marth in Multiplayer Free For Alls/Team Battles. His moves are actually really good at damaging multiple players at once and his strong counter and up-close aggressive playstyle make him quite fun to use. Even if he isn't a top tier character, most people who enjoy him tend not to be tournament playing competitive types, but more those who just enjoy having fun with their friends. Smash 4 just improved everything that was great about him and even made him viable in 1v1 battles. Unlike Lucina, Roy actually does have a different feel to how he plays, and can't be used in the same way that Marth is used. Similar to how Falco and Wolf do differ greatly from Fox, even if it doesn't appear so initially. Plus he is the only playable character to debut in Smash, and Sakurai made up a style he liked for the character without a lot of knowledge about him (since both FE6 and Melee were in development at the same time,) so there's that. Smashwise, the main reason Lucina is given so much hate is there is really no benefit to playing her over Marth besides "learning the ropes" and not worrying about spacing. I personally have no beef with her as a clone, but when she is arguably one of the cloniest clones to be included (either her or Dark Pit), it makes people upset because they feel that the (minuscule time) spent on her should have been spent elsewhere. Plus a lot of people were convinced that there was a limit on the amount of "slots" available in smash and thought that her, DP, Doc, and others were taking up valuable real estate (I still don't get how this argument would make sense). Personally, Roy is the first Smash character I ever learned how to use properly, and is my favorite guy to use in all games he's available in.
  12. No worries, and I am sorry if my post offended you in any way. I figured it wasn't a personal attack and didn't take it as such, so things are all good on my end :) With less than 5 days left, I am really starting to think that my waiting is in vain, but like LordTaco said, it could be a preventative measure to prevent hackers from leaking the content early. either way I am keeping my fingers crossed
  13. Honestly, l liked it purely because of the reclass system. I haven't played it in years, but l remember being able to just change everyone's class every map, just because l could. Granted, l was a bit annoyed when certain classes were limited to one per team, but yet l could have an entire team of Cavaliers. I also remember certain units doing very well outside their default class, such as General Sedgar.
  14. Sorry again about the double post. Nonetheless l am still pumped and excited to get the amiibo (6 more days to go), and hope a patch is included this week that has him
  15. Wow, this was more comments than I expected, but nonetheless I will try to address the ones that were specifically for me. This pretty much sums it up. I really am just curious about it, since I don't know what goes on in the development (and wondering why he wasn't added per the reasons I mentioned). Sorry about that, and thanks for moving my forum to the right place. I wasn't sure which Forum to go to since this is my first day using the site forums. I wasn't sure when you guys updated the info on the site, because some of the page stuff isn't always updated right away (such as the links in the Fates page constantly referring to Revelations as just "3rd Route" and the amiibo page not making mention of the item unlockables), so I guess I was just getting anxious to play and was just asking about the info Now for the big one.. I didn't think I was out of line when I was asking, and I am sorry if I upset or offended you, as it was not my intention. I did/do not expect special catering, and wasn't even upset when I thought Roy wasn't getting in Smash. IIRC, amiibos are actually the biggest moneymaker Nintendo has right now. And games like Mario Maker and Smash add in patches for all the new amiibo that get released, it's not crazy to believe they could do that again. and it creates sales for games that have the amiibo compatibility. For example, Marth was my first amiibo ever, and because of that, I bought Codename Steam simply because Marth was compatible for that game. I then bought Ike (who I wasn't going to initially) because he also works in that game. They use the amiibo to lure fans of the figure to buy the games that figure works in, and vice versa. So it's not just create the DLC for one guy with $12 who really likes Roy, it's to create it for ALL of the fans of FE who collected the respective amiibo. That being said, much like Lucas's amiibo, I do not expect this amiibo to be a big seller. As mentioned before, I am just surprised this wasn't already included, as it would have been a lot less effort when all those resources you mentioned were in the same room together, hence why I had waited in playing FE Fates since I have hope (not anger, not self righteousness, not the belief that I am owed anything) that Roy would be included. I am very excited to play the game, and I am hoping that I didn't wait the extra time to play for something that was confirmed not to be included, which is why I asked again, more recently than the last time someone asked this question (which based on the search bar I used, was weeks ago). Thanks again for all the info guys. I am so pumped to play this game, regardless of his functionality, and I just hope this waiting is all worthwhile. Also, on a random note, the Amiibos have voice acting? This is a surprise to me, as I just expected them to be completely silent
