  1. So, after finally completing all three routes (Birthright being my favorite), I've come up with a theory about why they made the games the way they did. I think with Awakening reinvigorating the franchise, they needed to replicate the gameplay (open map for unlimited grinding), but also wanted to reintroduce the "old school" way of fire emblem (Conquest). My theory is that they're going to use the success of Conquest to determine if they make another game like that. Awakening brought in a lot of new fans who have never experienced that style, so I think it makes sense that there was a game that presented that style without risking the franchise. That said, I think the next game will be more Birthright like.
  2. I don't know if this happened to anyone else, but I got real disappointed in the games. Prior to release I knew there would be 3 versions, and thought that each version would be unique. I was so happy because it wouldn't be like pokemon, where there are just version exclusives or whatever. So I play through Birthright, and absolutely love it. I enjoyed the story (even though the ending seemed pretty rushed) and was excited for Conquest (Just finished Ch 23). Low and behold, I feel like it's the same dam(n) story with the exception of who's side you're on and the Conquest maps being more engaging. It has me not excited anymore to play Revelations. This disappoints me especially considering how many teases there are between the other two versions about not getting the full story. Without spoilers, is Revelations more of the same thing, or does it feel like a new story being told?
  3. I played through birthright using very little of the bonus stuff. I only used the stat boosters and boots. Conquest though, that was a different story. Used both dread scrolls on MU and Silas. Used the Exalt Seal on Azura. I grinded a little on the DLC maps and also used the gold one. For me, it's not about making it as difficult as possible or as "pure". That stuff is in the game because I believe IS wanted us to use it if we want to. It makes the game entertaining, and that's ultimately what matters.
  4. Would choosing HP as your bane a bad idea? The -1 to most stats seems better than losing a couple in a single stat.
  5. I turned her into a Great Lord, and used a Seraph Robe and 2 Dracoshields on her. In Conquest she's no good (at least for me) as a Songstress.
  6. Just finished that chapter. What I did was progress through the map but kept a royal close to a dragon vein the whole time. If you think the winds will mess you up that turn, activate one and then adjust to taking out the enemies that get blown to you. I've found that the enemies will try to return to their start spot instead of fight you. Or try to move units out of the wind gusts.
  7. So I completed Birthright, and have completed up to Chapter 18 in Conquest. So far there have been very few opportunities to use the Dragon Vein ability. I thought this feature was going to be more prevalent throughout the game. I wasn't looking for it to be in every chapter, but it's weird to me that it's not very often utilized. What else has been disappointing for you?
  8. I just completed Chapter 15 of Conquest, and I think he's bad. He ℅,Es in as a Lv 10 Great Knight, but can't take a hit. I ended up pairing him with MU on the top half and Azura on the bottom. I get that vibe that he is that classic promoted character you get early on, like Seth from Sacred Stones or Marcus from Fire Emblem. I don't think the bonuses he gives to MU justify a roster slot. That's too gimmicky for me.
  9. I think I know what you mean. I like how the stories are set up, but I know for Birthright it seemed really rushed. And there wasn't a lot of details about what unfolded and caused the events to happen. It's pretty clear they want you to purchase Revelations, which I'm assuming is considered the "true" story.
  10. I've completed Birthright and am currently halfway through Conquest, but I am in love with these games. The story I think is really good, and it's super clever how they built the game. I like how they use the same maps, but put you in completely different circumstances when you play them. I think Conquest is the "family". The siblings are more entertaining, as is most of the Nohr cast. Which side do you prefer?
  11. I'm by no means a pro. But what I've been doing is getting the initial classes skills and then heart sealing to get the others. For example, I got Odin to level 10, then reclassed him to samurai. He'll get the two samurai skills after he levels up twice (one skill per level). Same thing once they get promoted. My questions... 1. Is Effie best off as a general? I'm thinking of doing that and giving her boots since you get a decent amount of them in this game (From having all the paths). 2. What is Odin best as for his final class? I have in samurai right now but it's pretty disappointing. Should I take him back to dark Mage? The only other magic user I have is Nyx and I'm not a fan of her. 3. How can I increase Arthur's hit rate? It's so low and I hate it. If i gave him a goddess icon would that help? He does have a decent amount of skill. Would turning him into a paladin help? 4.
  12. I don't know if everyone already does this, but in case someone doesn't, a good strategy to keep your healers and Azura from falling behind in levels is to have them heal/dance every turn, regardless of whether a person needs it. I did that in birthright and Felicia was the first unit for me to hit level 20. It's a small thing that I think tends to get overlooked but is super easy to do. Side note, if I were to consider reclassify Azura, what should she best serve as? I don't think having a dancer is an absolute necessity.
  13. So I finished Chapter 9 and Paralogue 1. All my units are at least level 10 (except Azura). I'm leaning towards using Effie, Odin, Elise, Felicia, and maybe Arthur. I reclassed Odin into a samurai to get his speed up. I ideally want to turn him into a Dark Knight. Thoughts? He's got a decent strength stat, is there something better to class him into?
  14. Sup! I am beginning my play through of Conquest after completing Birthright, and just have a couple questions regarding the game. 1. What characters are considered "better"? I used Rinkah in Birthright and felt like she was far inferior to my other units. I know this can get vastly different answers, but The team I'm looking for is one that features at least one of every unit type. 2. I'm playing on Classic Normal mode, what can I do to prevent myself from having to use the Boo Camp DLC? I wanna be able to beat this without having to grind. 3. Without spoilers, which version do you prefer more? Overall, I think these might be the best fire emblem games, or definitely top 3. I can't believe how much I'm enjoying them.
