  1. I wonder what unique method we'll use to unlock new Artes. Will there be a tree or web where we learn skills? Will we just get them semi-randomly by using old Artes over and over? Get them at specific levels? Or something more unique like Eternia's Slash/Thrust and Punch/Kick levels, and the Craymel Cage? Or Grace's 'learn skills from Titles' system?
  2. Tales team has gone on record to say that, despite the gameplay of that field area, the game is not open world. Also, the theme is apparently "Inheritance and Evolution".
  3. Just my quick thoughts on Tales games: -Phantasia (and Destiny to a lesser extent) are still kind of a "wobbly first steps", but I think they're good for what they are. -Eternia has some solid promise and interesting ideas, but it's still very much a simple game. -Symphonia is a classic JRPG with some minor problems (lack of Free Run) but is still really enjoyable -Abyss is on my list of one of the best PS2 RPGs of all time (up there with Shadow Hearts Covenant, .hack GU, and the Atelier Iris and Mana Khemia games). -Vesperia has some really good ideas and a great cast, but sorta has problems (ditching it's unique ideas of vigilante justice for a simpler fossil fuel analog) -Graces has problems, but I really think it has some fun ideas and cool parts that I like. -Xillia is kinda rushed, but I appreciate it for what it is, and the combat is really fun. -Xillia 2 is a lot more flawed, and Ludger is probably objectively the blandest and worst main protag in the series, but the combat is even more fun than Xillia 1, and it's nice to see how the victory of the previous games changed the world. -Zestiria, Zestiria, Zestiria... there are plenty of big problems. Alisha's DLC was bad. The combat is messy. The plot has tons of holes. But I still defend it because I love the OST, the voice acting is great, and the cast has some really fun moments. -Berseria is great. It fixes flaws with Zesteria's ideas, the characters are interesting, it's plot has some really strong points, and Magilou is the best, no questions asked. -Dawn of the New World is bad, but, like Zestiria, I can see some good points (nuggets of potential, the greatness that is Tenebrae, and the OST).
  4. Also, just as a theory, Alphen, gameplay wise, will be like Luca from Tales of Innocence (you fairly normal Tales swordsman protagonist with a Fire focus with those staples like Infernal Torrent and Rising Phoenix) and Shionne seems to be in a bit of a Cheria-esque position (ranged attacks, healing magic and Thunder-based offensive magic).
  5. Honestly, I think that the twist regarding Astral Energy might not be "It's actually evil and using it murders the environment" but something regarding why Dahnans can't use it.
  6. I'm checking some stuff, and apparently the big theme, according to producer Yusuke Tomizawa is "Inheritance and Evolution".
  7. From what we've seen, this might be the first time we actually have a rebellion/resistance plot in the Tales series. Certainly, we've had plenty of Tales plots where, for at least part of it, the heroes are on the run from the authorities, but nothing where the goal is actually "fight the evil oppressive government".
  8. Also, if Alphen pulling out the torch-flame sword doesn't start doing damage to him, slowly draining his HP, I'll eat my hat.
  9. Well, maybe not on everything, but maybe just for when Alphen is moving or using light, quick attacks. I mean, Shionne does look to be a range attacker/spellcaster/healer, so she does seem fragile.
  10. Alphen's numbness and Shionne's curse actually opens the door for a really interesting gameplay integration. Alphen can't feel pain. Obviously, this doesn't make him immune to damage or invincible, he'll still have HP that goes down when he gets hit, but what if, to reflect this, he has super armor on all of his attacks, and he literally cannot be stunned by anything? Shionne causes powerful pain to anyone who touches her. What if she does crazy damage to any melee physical attacker that hits her?
  11. I mean, it seems like Shionne has a legit reason to be shy and fragile and reserved: Anyone who touches her gets a massive blast of pain and purple lightning. If I had that, of course I'd be distant and reserved and distrusting and maybe cold: I don't want people to get hurt.
  12. I'd also remind people that this is the minimal plot/setting description and characters to draw interest. I mean, I doubt Alphen and Shionne are the only party members, and there' still plenty of plot elements that are floating (why is Alphen numb to pain? Where did Shionne's curse come from? Why is she fighting against Rena? What has Alphen forgotten?). So, before you start casting judgement, I'd wait for more information. It is fun to speculate, however.
  13. Doesn't look all that different from Tales of Eternia or Tales of Symphonia. I don't see what the big problem is.
  14. The wiki has some info: Setting The inhabitants of the planet Dahna have always revered Rena, the planet in the sky, as a land of the righteous and divine. However, the stories passed down across the generations have distorted the truth for the people of Dahna. Rena has ruled over Dahna for the past 300 years, pillaging the world beneath of its resources and its people of their dignity and freedom. Astral energy (星霊力, Seireiryoku, "Star Spirit Power") resides in all living things. However only Renans are able to use this power in the form of astral artes (星霊術, Seireijutsu, "Star Spirit Artes") and when used the user's eyes briefly glow in blue. The torch-flame sword (炎の剣, Homura no Tsurugi) is a manifestation of Shionne's astral energy. Alphen (アルフェン, Arufen) - A mask-wearing man from Dahna who has lost his memories as well as his capability to feel pain. Borrowing the blazing sword from Shionne just after meeting her, he fights for his freedom from Rena. Shionne (シオン, Shion) - A girl from Rena who brings the curse of thorns to whoever touches her. With an ulterior motive of her own, she allies herself with Alphen and fights against her own people.
  15. This is 2 months old at this point but nobody posted it, and it's relevant, not a necropost, so... I can see the arc of the Alphen/Shionne romance arc from miles away: Initial meeting in time of crisis, Shionne is cold and distant because of her curse When Alphen can handle the burning sword, she realizes he can touch her without feeling pain Some adventures with slow romance blooming Alphen gets his pain back, angst because they can't touch anymore More adventuring with angst Finally, Shionne's curse is removed, and they can touch, and they confess their love.
  16. But they might get handsy with the trunk given that I'm a bit handsy with cute cats and dogs. Will Smith is a really good actor!
  17. Today, November 18th, I turn 18!
  18. With Disney+ officially out... I am freaking out! As a Gen Z, all these sitcoms and original movies from the late 90s and early 2000s that I remember watching (as well as the stuff that started when I was a kid like Good Luck Charlie and Lab Rats) is hitting all my Nostalgia Nerves. Plus, I get to enjoy classics all the Millenials and Gen Xers rag on about like the 90s X-Men show and Gargoyles and Sister Act! Personally, I can't wait to rewatch Let It Shine and Girl Vs. Monster again for the fist time in a while. Anything you'd like to share regarding Disney+, shows you're excited to watch (new or old) on it, or just general disney TV show/movie memories?
  19. Edelgard: I can't believe they think they're cuter than us. Hubert: We'll show them. Dorothea: We're totally cuter. Ferdinand: Oh yeah. They confront... Ferdinand hugs Hubert and Edelgard hugs Dorothea Ferdinand: You think you're cuter than us? Edelgard: Yep. Hubert: No way!
  20. You are not a super pac guy is a good day going on a Google play w you can use it because none is the same as the one good morning you have a bit more of the future of a Mario galaxy Tab in a turn-based rpg.
